Hello.
Recently I flashed my 5670 to CM 10.1.4. I thought I will get the encryption function when flashing to this rom.
Somebody told me that phone encryption with 5670 is not possible due to armv6 processor.
Is there any other good way to protect the phone? And here I really mean protect - not like some apps that hide your photos, messages etc.
Any suggestestions are much appreciated.
cm10.1.4 doesn't have encryption option. Infact, not ny rom has that option.
Ok. But do you mean that only CM 10.1.4 does not have this option?
What about CM 9 series then? Is it working with these?
Nope. Not natively.

I have the 2012 version (N8013) stock ROM, current Android (4.1.2). Non-rooted.
I just bought an Amazon Fire Stick which supports Miracast. Sadly, 4.1.2 does not. So, I'm looking for a custom ROM that (in order of importance):
Supports Miracast
Is highly stable
Has performance improvements
Has new, cool features/functionality
Is reasonably customizable
Really, only the first 2 are critical. The remaining 3 are just nice to haves.
I did do some searching but could not tell which ones supported Miracast.
I know ROMs are highly personal, so it's hard to make a recommendation, but if you could maybe offer some suggestions for me to consider, based on the above, it would be highly appreciated.
(I did install a custom ROM on my Galaxy S2 a while back, so I'm not completely new at it, but it's been a while and I only did the one, so I'm only slightly above a noob on this.)
Thanks for your help!
K,
hi, you might want to consider a custom rom which stays with stock standards. In that case go for gnabo just skip the bootloader
portion.
That's what i did for my n8013 and gnabo did fine.
@nerdyblonde ' beanstalk rom runs well bit i don't know about m-cast as i don't use it. the rom is not supported anymore
by way of updates but i run it as my daily driver and will for some time. bluetooth and wifi direct seem to function well
though i use additional apps for that. i''ve neveer tested the ir blaster so.. [shrug] dunno :silly:
don't forget to make a backup !

What does it mean when a ROM sticks with stock standards? And, what does a bootloader do (and why can I skip it)?
Thanks again!

hi,
i just mean gnabo is basically a custom stock rom.
so hardware issues will be minimal if not null.
skip the bootloader.

Hello there,
My android version is 4.0.4, Kernel 3.0.13. The device is already rooted. I want to update it to the latest Paranoid Android version. I thought I was tech-savvy enough to pull it off on my own. But I am not. The prospect alone of a "bricked" phone haunts me. I am also oblivious to what happens AFTER a successful Paranoid Android update. Will the data of all of my applications be wiped out? Does Paranoid Android have it's own messaging, dial and contacts app? Calendar app? Or do we have to download the necessary applications? Can we revert back to our stock rom if Paranoid Android doesn't have all the needed features? What if doesn't have a camera app of its own!? My phone doesn't have an official Paranoid Android rom on the web. You've probably never even heard of it. It's a QMobile Noir A5 Classic.
I really fell in love with Paranoid Android. If there is any way you guys can help me, please do.

Hello, and thank you for using XDA Assist!
If a bricked phone haunts you, I would definitely hold off on pursuing any further. There seems to be big hopes but no development for this device. Worse, the rule of the ROM is that it has to be built very specifically for that device.
Even if there was a custom ROM for your device, the process of installing it (known as a clean flash), will wipe all app data from the phone (pictures and other files will likely stay). Also, I never used PA, but I believe it has all that you are looking mentioning above (particularly after installing Google Apps package, or Gapps). The Play Store can also fill in the missing gaps, such as if it doesn't provide a (decent) camera. You can revert back to stock ROM rather easily, as long as you have made a backup of that ROM in recovery (something else that is needed) first.
Unfortunately, in respect to the prospect of ROM's (or recovery), if there haven't been any milestones in two years, it's probably not going to happen.
Sorry.
Thanks, Joel. I think I'll stick to my stock ROM, in light of what you've said.
I recently upgraded from a Moto G 2nd Gen to a 3rd gen, I was pretty surprised to find out it doesn't have a guest mode/multiple users feature, which is arguably Lollipop's best feature.
My question is, is there any way at all to add this? A custom ROM, a mod, something, anything really.
Thanks!
You might be able to do it with Xposed, but will need root, else wait for Marshmallow update
Also there is screen pinning option available to just let users use a single app

Several manufacturers remove this functionality, Samsung has for a while, HTC removed it initially from the M9 then added it back, and apparently Motorola is as well (notably the Droid Turbo did not have it either), not sure why, probably because Guest mode is so insecure by default it is more of a security risk than a benefit when used for it's intended purpose of handing the phone over to someone to use.
A custom ROM would be your best bet, I know it is build in to CM and most other AOSP ROMs.

Sorry for the noob question, but I'm assuming by CM you mean Cyanogen Mod? And if that's the case, would you mind linking me to a tutorial to add it to my phone, I really do want the entire guest/multiple users features, and if CM can do it I'm down.
Yes, CyanogenMod ROM, although if it was me I would look into BlissPop, Resurrection Remix, or CrDroid before CM.
Just look in the Original Development section... You must unlock (voiding warranty), flash TWRP, and flash CM (or other ROM) and Gapps.

Hello,
Im in need of proper rom for galaxy s2 plus gt-i9105
Problem is, that proximity sensor is broken so the screen goes off while in call, tried various of roms, kitkat, jb, marshmellow, none of them had an option to force screen on. Using xposed is not an option for me. Is there any hope for it? Been looking for miui port so can anyone recommend something?
Thanks in advance ?
Does anyone here still have this phone? only for curiosity
I just noticed that I enter the low activity device group
It's really a shame ... it's not a good phone, a newer rom would make it explode
See Ya!
Yes me I have one. I search in the net to find a debloat rom to go in. Can't find anyone even in XDA! It's a sm-g386w but if if found a ROM for sm-g386t I'll try...
Yep I still have my GT-18262 and I use it for experimental stuff only though but it was my first samsung phone...

I got it in my pocket in this very moment. (It's
a core G-386W. More or less a late model with better parts. 0.5gb of more RAM iirc
Really run smoothly in most conditions. Still love it. Only replaced it with a LG V20 (not letting go of that removable battery) for OS reason.
I still have mine works great for me I just wished I could update it so I can get some newer aps so at least I could connect my smart watch with it. the only thing I did was years ago installed rooted it and installed kitkat ( I think it was back in 2014) other then that haven't done anything but bought a new battery

Does Wi-Fi and cellular networks work? I installed CM12.1 on mine, everything works perfectly, except the Wi-Fi and calls/sms
I know I am almost 2 years late to the party but I will leave this for those who are willing to dive into the rabbit hole. I managed to build a "functional" lineage18.1 for the SM-g386W Afyonltecan and I am willing to share it as well as the source so that hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will take the lead or help to fix the bugs so that we can enjoy this piece of history for few more years. Don't get me wrong, it is far from perfect and so far only worked on my device. I also successfully build lineage 16.0 and twrp 3.7.0 but they are too buggy to be useful as is.
