So I have this issue. I'm completely against Google Play Services, the massive battery drain on my device should be enough of an excuse to not have it installed. It's been constantly badgering me recently about how Google Maps won't run without Google Play Services installed. Now let me say this, I don't use to many Google apps aside from Gmail. Google Maps rarely comes in handy for me, and I normally just end up looking up destinations on my browser. Will deleting Google Maps from my phone fix this problem? (And yes, my phone is rooted)
You could try Greenify!
Aaand if you want to remove the apps, you'll probably need ''Link2SD'' for that.
Also Link2SD can freeze the apps!
Or use app quarantine from play store to freeze Google play services

Ok with play services, and the play store running my nexus 4 hits 116 degrees Fahrenheit. I uninstalled play services, and installed a play services blocker so it couldn't be force loaded onto my phone. But I still had the Problem cuz the play store tries to re-install it in the background. So if I freeze the play store, everything is fine. Is there a different way to go about this so I don't have to freeze anything, and have to unfreeze the play store everytime I want to use it? Such as through the terminal, etc? Thanks.

Go to option the setting and apps manager. Highlight to the playstore and try uninstal updates. But before, make sure the clear data and clear cache button is appearing. Click them first before uninstalling update
Same how to the google service.
Reeboot
Might it help..
If no change. Maybe i will give you an egg and cook on that heat.

No any option. Except you flash to custom rom and get new fresh gapps (playstore included)

Location services
Disallow Google from tracking your location and turn off GPS when you don't need it.
I've found that when google location services were running, any time I opened a google app it would get hot, as it was activating the GPS on my tablet.

So what do you think would work better, using the privacy guard feature for all the GApps, or I could use lucky patcher and disable all the location permissions?
I know lucky patcher is warez, but I'm not using it for bad intentions.

Not familiar with lucky patcher. I just turned off sync with all google apps except G+ and Gmail, and unchecked the option to allow it to track my location in the account settings. Then I turned off GPS. I have limited use for GPS, so only keep it on when I need to use it.
Lucky patcher is an app that is considered a "ware" on XDA because of some of some of the things it can do. But it installs a modified play store of any version that does not auto update itself in the background, I use play store 3.10. Every google app on my phone is frozen. And it's still overheating when I unfreeze the play store, because it's trying time re install google play services. I have a google services blocker app that had the same signature as the real google play services. So when I unfreeze the play store, it repeatedly tries to install the real one, but can't, which causes it to over heat. I'd like to know if there is a way to stop this??

Now, I can say i am really experienced with android as of now. I have handled almost all of my own problems.
But one still remains... I use google keep and google url shortener on my phone which both require google play services
Now, I am running an unofficial build of cyanogenmod 10.1, and I use greenify. I also use tasker. I want to STOP google play
services on my command, but I don't want to install xposed framework because it drains a whole lot of battery and memory.
Can somebody please tell me how to stop all of the play services so i don't have 8 google play services running at once?
It really annoys me and I would like to stop it from running unless i say.
Thanks,
chopper
Hi,
I am using legacy device and My device does not have enough hardware to handle large processes. I know Google Log in Service app saves Google account and Google play service provides account log in token for Google Play Store. After success of log in Google Play Store will run. MY device is Xperia Ray with unofficial cm11. I want to use Google Play Store without Google Play Service because it really slow my device and I dont like to use its service. I have very less apps which can run without Google Play Service. Is there any way to get this?
Thanks.

If you rooted your device then use "Greenify" (Search on PlayStore) and then Hibernate Google play Service maybe it will help you.
Thread cleaned of warez talk. The alternative app store discussed offers paid apps for free. XDA doesn't condone warez and doesn't allow discussion of them.
Thank you,

Hibernate system app means disable it. I can do it from setting.
Also I have disabled lot of its service. Here I want to completely remove Google Play service.apk from my phone. I don't want other option. Thanks.
I tried running my phone without GApps but very quickly realised that I needed access to Google Play.
There are ways to download apks from the Play store without an account but then you never get any updates.
I am not philosophically opposed to the Google services but I am trying to reduce the number of background apps running.
Is there a way to freeze and only turn on Google Play services when opening the Play store and once a week to check for updates?
If your phone is rooted go for "greenify" i guess.
That helped my search.
I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552570

If it doesnt drain battery, it isn't Google Play Services.
Also, it is very advisable to stick to the one pre-installed on your phone. The ones you downloaded may not be suitable, or might been tampered with.
If you do not intend to use any google services, then just uninstall "updates" then disable it. viola power drain plugged. But be warned, you WILL get loads of FCs on apps or just by doing nothing. many many many apps / phone functions rely on Google Play Services.
having said all those, do you even know what google play services is? it drains battery for a good reason, because it is running many things in the background.
Google play services is involved in almost everything you do with your phone, from dialing numbers to sms to location services etc..
Also, when you say you have been downloading and installing different versions of Google play services, be warned, using the wrong version will cause a bigger drain on your phone battery.
thanks alot, i know what it is but i deleted the pre installed version on my phone (le max 2)...guess i will have to re install my OS then....sad and annoying
