Custom Kernel breaks miracast? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just got a PTV3000 (netgear push2tv) and my laptop and phone both mirror on the netgear, all is well, except for my note 10.1
I read somewhere online that it is because of the custom kernel, samsung won't allow updating or allshare....
Anyone else experienced this or a way around it?
Just revert to stock?

[Q] Upgrade worth a try?

I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 (Verizon) and somehow corrupted something and now 3G doesn't work. Wifi is fine. I posted on this forum for some help and although my post got plenty of views, there were no replies. So:
In attempts to get 3G back, do you think upgrading to the JQ1 Gingerbread ROM would be a good idea?
I need Wifi and would like Netscape and Skype to continue to work. I think everything else on my tablet will be fine or easily replaced...
Thanks,
Rod

[Q] Flash drives with stock ROM?

I am considering getting a Motorola Xoom with 3G, but the deciding factor is whether I would be able to use a USB flash drive without any modification. It has been upgraded a few times since it was released, but I have not been able to find anything online talking about whether the more recent updates enabled this feature. Thanks to anybody who can answer this for me.

You are asking whether the Xoom stock rom/kernel supports USB host mode, and the answer is no. The Xoom requires a rom/kernel that supports USB host mode in order to mount a USB flash drive.
That's disappointing. Thanks for your reply. Do you know whether this is a lengthy procedure or if it is relatively straight-forward?

Rooting/flashing custom recovery, then custom kernel/rom is not a snap, but isn't rocket science either. Here is a guide I assembled: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1249798
I've been keeping it pretty updated and it's gotten kind of long, but please read it through and see what you think. I'm not a tech professional or any kind of developer, and I've done it so anyone can. I would never stay on unmodified stock after rooting/modding. Stock is just too vanilla and it's not as smooth and fast as it is on the Tiamat Rom, or better yet, the ICS alpha.

[Q] About rooting

I just got my note 10.1 today. I am no stranger to rooting my devices and normally would have already done it by now. The question I have is do any of the roms lose the snote functionality? This is ultimately the reason I purchased this tablet, to take notes during lecture. There's a bunch of junk on here I want to get rid of. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Root the stock rom, you keep everything as is except you get CWM & root... If you wish to use the Allshare cast dongle just reflash stock recovery....
S-notes and all other things work, not sure of the Learning hub though as my country doesn't support it...

[Q] AT&T Tab 2 10.1 - Android amateur, what would YOU do with it?

I don't know the first thing about rooting/flashing Android, nor anything about the capabilities of my Tab 2 10.1 on AT&T.
I just know that I want a newer version of Android, as I believe AT&T is the only carrier that has not moved to AT LEAST 4.1.2 yet.
I use a Mac.
What should I do with this thing? I have an S4 and got it for dirt cheap the same day. I want to make sure whatever I install doesn't mess with my LTE connection.
Thanks for anybody who has the time to shoot the breeze with me about this device.
I'm very sorry, but as far as I know, there's really not much you can do with the AT&T version of this tab. I don't remember seeing any working custom roms, and until AT&T gets an upgrade, you are stuck with what you have...

You can root it, there is a debloated stock rom now. Maybe someday some dev will pick up a i497 and start creating roms. But having the one is a start. I use mine for whatever a I need when I am on the move. I don't have it connected to the carrier, but use wifi when I can. I also tether it to my phone to get internet on it. To me, it is more handy than carrying the lap top around. So when I go traveling, I bring it.

Activating Sprint Spark on Nexus 5??

Has anyone done this yet?
I've seen a couple articles telling how to do it, but I dont trust it.
Also does anyone know if it works on custom roms or just stock rom?
thanks!
