[Q] Signal and connectivity issues after installing CM 10 & updating to new radio - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hey guys,
I did some searching and didn't see an answer to my specific problem so I figured I would go ahead and ask.
A few weeks ago I installed CM 10.1.2 using TWRP. After installing I was having signal, battery and bluetooth issues.
I did some research and found that I needed to flash a new radio I727UCMC1. I did that according to the protocols (without cable in, twice) and still had the same connectivity issues.
Since then I have tried a few different ROMs going back to ICS and JB but am still having the same issues. I am currently using SilmBean 4.3 beta 4- Weekly-427.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do to fix the radio problems I am having?
Thanks!

There isn't anything I can tell from what you provided. If you are claiming that you are following the threads on XDA and tutorials then you should be fine.
If you are still having problems then walk me through the steps you take assuming you are back to the stock UCMC1, did a full wipe on the stock ROM, and now you are ready do install TWRP or CMW and load up CM10.1.X.
Flashing back to stock and wiping everything solves many problems, and the UCMC1 radio will be automatically there when you install your custom recovery and custom rom. So you don't have to reflash UCMC1-radio in a case where you are coming from the stock UCMC1.

[Q] Cannot connect to wifi

Apologies if this has already been asked or solved, but I checked the Q&A threads and also the sensation development thread for a solution but couldn't find one...
I flashed OrDroid's 5.0.1 ICS Sense 4.0 ROM this morning, will full wipe selected. Now I cannot connect to the internet through my wifi, and I cannot connect to 3g either. I rebooted into recovery, did a complete format of the system from recovery and reflashed, again selecting full wipe and re-installed the ROM. Again, no internet. Keeps coming up with a message that the server has timed out. The Wifi is fine to use on my laptop.
I then rebooted again, full wipe, installed coindroid 1.5.2 ROM and reflashed Brick Kernel. Still no solution
Anyone able to help me out please?
Hi,
did you check your radio rom ? If you come from a non sense rom you need to flash a couple, radio and ril.
Ju.
Well I was coming from one custom Sense ROM to another. It had always worked fine until the latest OrDroid update. I recently when back to S-on and flashed an official RUU but that didn't fix the problem either.
I noticed a thread regarding the RIL/Radio files but I'm not sure which one I need to choose...I'm o2 UK if that helps?

Team EOS issue

Well, it won't let me post in the official thread so I'm forced to put it here.
I recently installed the Team EOS Jelly Bean nightly (Stingray MZ602) their gapps, and reflashed the ICS radio as recommended using Rogue Recovery. Things have been working well except the WiFi. It tends to cut out randomly. It will be connected yet not transmit or receive. I have to turn it off and on frequently in order for it to work. No, it's not the router or my network. I am hoping for a solution other than going back to ICS.
First thing I would do is to full wipe and format /system
And flash twrp recovery that is advised as stable flasher.
Then redownload the ROM and gapps and make sure check sum is OK,
Then flash and reboot.
This way, you would id the source of your issue, ROM bug or recovery flasher? Cuz I know other guys face no issues like yours with twrp. Worth to try. Good luck.
The twrp page hasn't been updated since April and the project itself hasn't been updated since October of 2011. How can you be sure that it'll work with the radio zip better than Rogue? Or even the Team EOS JB build?
Twrp is advised by team eos. They asked to use it. And you need twrp for Xoom,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28988754
Installation method 4 thru goo manager.
I remember one of the stingray users had an issue with the radio flashing and it went great with twrp.
Good luck.
Didn't work. I still have to reset the WiFi every 5 minutes or so. Also, the twrp recovery takes a LOT longer to load than Rogue's. Almost thought it wasn't going to work for a bit until the 'curtain' finally rose.
Over 24-hour bump...
Just put on EOS 138 and reflashed the radios after going back to Rogue. Still radio issues with WiFi. Found some other threads detailing that Jelly Bean in general seems to have WiFi issues. As much as I hate it, I'm starting to think that I will have to 1) revert to ICS, 2) wait for an updated radio file, or 3) deal with it.

I always have that problem with their roms. Flash a kernel, thats always helped my situation.
Also I have zero issues with wifi on JB with my GNexus, N7, Infuse and Atrix. Its not JB, at least not as far as I have seen. Granted none are stock.
Which kernel would you recommend?
Also, until JB I have not had this issue with EOS builds.

I flashed Eos 138 last night (was on CNA), without doing the radios, nor a kernel, and didn’t have any problems.
The Eos forum states that it has the kernel baked into the rom, so flashing the kernel is likely redundant.
However, for ****s and giggles I tried flashing the Eos 3.0.15 kernel and it would not flash, but I was able to flash the Eos 3.0.5 kernel instead and it took. I haven’t seen any issues, either before or after the kernel flash, so perhaps you should try re-flashing the entire rom sans radios and see what happens.
One of the nice things about the Xoom is its pretty easy to fix anything you could do to it via ADB and fastboot, so try some different combos, or start all the way over (from stock). If that doesn’t help, try a different JB rom and see if you get the same problem.
Also make sure you are flashing the right rom, there are several variants for the Xoom - 3G, 4G, Euro, and of course wifi only.
Just flashed CM10 and the non-EOS gapps without flashing radios. Running on WiFi for about 20 minutes so far without issue. Will try more testing later today.
EOS 4 & Kindle
Thanks EOS for 4.2.1! Feels like most things are working...except Kindle locks up on start-up. Just sayin'....

[Q] Radios / Jelly Bean question

I have been using an ICS ROM (PrimoS v4.1) on my Desire S for some time with no problems, but recently have tried flashing a number of JB ROMs (e.g Andromadus, CM10 and JellyTime). I have found that when using any of these JB ROM's, I am unable to get a data connection and the APN list is blank. Despite many attempts to add APNs manually or by use of APN backup apps, I have failed to add an APN to the list.
Do I need to update the radio to solve this problem? I never did this when going from original HTC Gingerbread to the ICS ROM.
Please excuse the ignorance on this subject. I've read somewhere that there is a danger of bricking the phone when flashing radios, hence my reluctance to try without good reason!
I live in the UK and use Virgin Mobile.
Current radio is: 20.281.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M
All help appreciated - I've had a tantalising glimpse of the wonders of Jelly Bean and I'm desperate to get my data connection working!
TIA
I can't say whether changing radios will fix your problem. I use Radio 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04 on CM10 and have no problems.

Thanks for the reply BillGoss.
I took the plunge and updated my Radio to 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04 with no problems. My phone continues to work fine with the PrimoS (ICS) ROM, but when I flashed JellyTime, still no APN's and I was unable to create one, hence I can't connect to the 3G network. D'oh!
Correct me if I'm wrong but with ICS you don't have the probelm and with JB you have the problem
that you have no and can not set the APN values, Q, dit you have a clean ROM installed.
I had this problem once when I tested a ICS version with sence 4. Later when I installed a CM10 version
I had no APN so I did a factory reset an de problem was gone. To be sure I wiped al the data on my device
and restored a earlyer nandroid backup. Later I tested a lote of ROMS but so far I don't have the APN issue yet.

Yes HypnoCondor, I always do a full wipe before flashing the ROM. I've now done a ot of Googling and trawling XDA threads and have found that the issue seems to be confined to CyanogenMod-based ROMS, not specifically CM10 and covering a lot of different phones. I'm not techie enough to fully understand, but it seems that CM is not registering the SIM card properly and hence the APN list is always blank and can't be edited/saved manually.
What's particualrly confusing is that I recently flashed the CM10-based CyanogenMod 10 Beta Builds [4.1.2][ANDROMADUS 3.x][Frontcam] ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776256) and much to my surprise it worked! My APN list was populated and all was fine. Unfortunately , after rebooting the phone, the APN's were gone and I've been unable to get them back, despite trying every trick in the book gleaned from XDA users with similar problems.
This is very frustrating, because I really love this ROM
Looks like I'll end up going back to the PrimoS (non-CM, ICS) ROM so that I can get my data connection back when I'm away from WiFi. That's a real bummer, but I'm damned if I've been able to find a fix for this issue.
Just for future reference: being unable to set APN has nothing to do with radio and has everything to do with the ROM you're using. But you've already found that out yourself.

Thanks Jack_R1. My final plan is to try replacing the SIM card - should receive it in a couple of days.

Phosbrom I'm on Virgin and the JellyBean roms you mentioned work great on our service. I'm sure you'll enjoy using them when your new sim arrives :good:

The only fix is update with OTA or downgrade the Hboot.
I ran into the same issue with 3 other ROMs today. Finally used TWRP recovery (instead of the CWM I had been using) and installed JellyBam 4.0.0 (and flashed the boot.img with fastboot.)
I can't say that's what fixed it because I can't honestly say the other ROMs were the cause of the problem. All I can tell you is that within minutes of rebooting after the install, my phone connected to wifi.
Good luck with it - I'm sure others who actually know what they're talking about will offer more than I can.
Thanks guys just wanted to see what my solutions were.

Don't help with Sense based roms.
Any guides or links on how to update? I'm on my phone atm.
Seems every HTC device is different when it comes to this stuff lol

Never had wifi issues on my 1.14. Although the only sense-based roms Ive used have been ICS ones. Maybe the wifi wouldnt work on JB sense roms.
Wifi works fine on JB AOSP roms though.
Similar problems with wifi. I've tried several ROM's, lastly Jellybam 4.0.0, came from CM10, before that some other custom rom, now stock 3.16.401.8. I think my wifi hardware is broken. Going tomorrow to warranty service. I'm not expecting the warranty to cover this since I tried several ROM's, but I will try and see what happens.

Another WiFi Problem Thread with a twist

Hey all,
I picked up a cracked screen Sensation for my son and discovered it also had funky wifi/BT. It was bone stock running 4.0.3.
I unlocked the boot loaded, S-OFF'd, rooted and updated firmware to 3.33.
Did my research here and determined my issue was HDW related. So I order a new digitizer and LCD flex (the later includes the wifi chip).
While I waited for my kit to arrive I flashed CM10, 8/4 build I think.
Well yesterday I did my repairs and fired up the phone only to see wifi stuck at turning on - and the phone rebooting every so often. BT, however was now working fine.
So here is the twist.
I restored my stk 4.0.3 rooted nandroid and wifi works fine!:good:
But if I do a clean install of CM10 - again wifi does not work
I have read about the issues with wifi and being S-ON, but I am S-OFF.
Any thought s on how to get CM working?

Sometimes ROMs have problems with wifi, I had similliar problem with another ROM.
Some users with HTC Amaze report builds prior to April 5 had Wifi problems. Did you try CM10.1/2? For me there is no problem with wifi at all, worth a shot.
Maybe try a different ROM?
I have also experienced some wi fi issues with some of the CM 10.1/10.2 ROMS. Since there is not really an "official" CM 10.1 ROM for the sensation, you sort of have to accept that there may be some bugs. I would suggest trying CM 9.1 and see if that works for you. Since you seem to be doing a complete wipe and format before the upgrades, the only other problem could possibly be some sort of hardware issue. However, I suspect that since it worked well on a previous ROM that the problem is ROM related. I would suggest you try all the various ROMs to see if the problem goes (mostly) away on one of them. I'm current running a 10.2 ROM and have noticed intermittent problems with connecting to Wi fi, but, on the most part, things work fine.
Good luck!
