Well, the Wi-Fi only version also has the tray for a SIM card because that's also where the micro sd slot is, but there is just not a sim card reader in the hardware. It's really hard to brick a xoom though, even if you flash the wrong rom on there and you can't start it up, you can still get into fastboot mode by holding volume down before the dual core logo appears. It may not say fastboot in the corner if the kernel is messed up, but it still works because I had it happen to me before too.
Thanks i will try it!

I have a serious issue on my D6633, i've tryed to roll out the Lollipop update but due to very slow download speed i had to abort (update was not started yet) after the vol dwn + power phase.
After that phese the mobile is unable to activate any of the 2 sim cards, i've tryed serveral sims and al the possible configurazions of network, what ever i do in the information it shows RAdio OFF like is in airplane mode (but of course is not).
I've manage to update the phone but this did not solved the issue, fasctory reset did not solved the issue.
If i insert the simcar the handy detects it but the radio part seems no to activate somehow.
if i boot with no simcard, i insert one simcard, the phone reboots and at the reboot the simcard i have inserted is disabled, if i manually enable it stais forever trying to activate it, at one point it problebly reaches a timeout it says it's acrtive but in the information screes it says like the radio is off, same as when i enable the airplane mode.
I'm quite worried, any suggestion from the community ?
PHone is HK but i'm in spain now and the update was downloaded in span FW is 23.1.1.E.0.1 but the behaviour was the same with the kitkat rom after the failed reboot.
I'm pretty sure is a kind of software but i would like to know if there is a more lower level way to wipe the device more than just do the factory reset.
Any help apreciated.

Thanks Mate, i'm downloading it just now, i hope to get enough bandwith to download the ftf from the hotel, for the ftf i have to use xperifirm right ?
But is it a common issue that a simple flash mode boot without a real flash ****s up all the radio part of the phone (actually also the vibe is not working anymore)?
Thanks.

Yes, something wasn' t right, but don' t worry, a clean flash, and it will be like a new one.
I've flashed the ftf but no changes, gosh !
This are the sysntoms:
No network from both the sims (it says radio off) enabling or disabling sims take a big while, changing data from sim 1 to sim 2 and vice versa take ages (it looks like it just reaches a timeout).
It seems that the failed update some how diabled the radio of the SOC at low level but i have no idea ho to enable it.
Any help wellcome.
Thanks.

Since a clean ftf flash did not solved the problem, well...maybe you can take it to a service.
Have you tried to force a software repair using PCComapnion?
Download PCCompanion, click on software update, if it says you have the latest software click on "Repair my phone" and follow the instructions.

dont know why, but didn't worked
the phone recognizes the SIM, but doesn't give signal
i think the IMEI got blocked by the older user, is there any way to check it?
made a test with another SIm card, only the internet works, including 4G
Bump!!
It just stop working few day's ago, can't make it work with any sim card anymore. It all happens at 6.0.1. I tried to install 5.0.1. with no luck there, and 4.4.4. that didn't work either but at least at 4.4.4. I could mess a little bit with finding carrier at settings , with 6.0.1 and 5.0.1. it is faded in setting menu. Will get ss here. I am sorry for my English, if there is anyone with any idea there to help I would be very grateful. :crying:
If clean flash doesnt help, probably your sim tray is broken. You can try flashing latest radio from factory images. Maybe that could help :/

I was hoping that this is the reason but my simcard is intact. Checked it with another phone.
Or...what do you mean with "safe"?
