[Q] Possibly replacing my Skyrocket, what would a good replacement be? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

So, I have had my skyrocket for about a year now and I like it a lot, but there is one thing that is driving me nuts, the darn proximity sensor. The fact that it almost never works is enough for me to get rid of the phone. Since I haven't been able to find a way to fix that issue I am looking at getting a new phone. The Skyrocket was my first smartphone, I bought it used in excellent condition off ebay for $200 and I was using with Net10's BYOP plan. So if I am to replace it I would want something comparable in performance and cyanogenmod support. I am currently looking at an LG Optimus G, because it seems to be the best bang for the buck, being the only smartphone that I could find with a quad core that is less than $300. Specifically I am looking at buying this one.
So, this leaves me with two questions for you guys.
1) Is there anything I can do about the proximity sensor?
2) Is the LG Optimus G a good choice or is there something better in that price range?
As always thank you for any help and/or advice!

I was seriously considering that because of how awesome a deal it was, then I realized that there was no expandable memory. I currently have a 32GB uSD card in my skyrocket that is full with nothing but music. So 16GB wouldn't cut it.

That was a deal breaker for me too, and the non-remoavable battery.

Do you really need 32gb of just music? Its not like you can listen to it all in one day. There's also Google Play Music and such as an option..

Need? No, but I don't want to be having to change what I have on my phone all the time. If I want to listen to something I just want to be able to hit play. As for Google Play Music, being on Net10 AT&T plan I only have 1.5GB and I have already burned through that in 2 weeks before.

[Q] SanDisk 64GB MicroSDXC - Amazon Reduced Price?

Hi
Ive had my HTC Sensation (XE Beats) for about a month now - and absolutely love it. I've dropped my iPod and now use my phone as my mobile music player (the soundstage is great, and I use PowerAMP who's EQ is just superb!)... my iPod was a 30GB Video (from 2005?) - but I'm currently using the bundled MicroSD card which is 16GB (but only 11gb of that is available to use )...
I have looked at 32gb cards, and have read all the problems about getting fakes which are more like 3.2gb. But I've seen 64gb cards are now "available". And this is more attractive seeing as I was looking to buy a 64gb iPod touch anyway.
I put available in quotes there because... well they aren't exactly readily available (from UK stockists)... and even when they are - the delivery/dispatch dates are extremely vague - like that of Amazon.
Amazon are currently selling the SanDisk 64GB Mobile Ultra SDXC card for £99.99 - a good £65 off the RRP. IMO i think this is a reasonable price for such a new technology.
But the thing is... how can they sell these cards at such a low price? When even the smaller, less known brands such as Komputerbay are selling for more/a similar price?
And why the 1-2 month dispatch estimate? Only until a few weeks back the listing was 'Out of stock'....
How legit do you think this is? There are no reviews so I can't tell if you'd even get a card.... let alone how long you'd have to wait.
(Side note... it'd be great if you could post links to other stockists selling these hi-capacity cards!)

Good to know.

I'd be wary buying these. I got scammed with one of the 32GB that was actually 2GB... of course nothing could be done because the seller disappeared. $30 down the drain

It was on Amazon last year. I'm pretty sure I paid with my CC something probably could have been done, but I didn't really know where to start. I pretty much only use paypal now though
also listed on Play.com for £99.99 (was £149.99) but unfortunately is also out of stock

**OFFICIAL** What Phone Should I Buy?

Attention!
In light of all the posts that are deleted and/or closed due to many off-topic posts about what device a person should buy, I have created this official thread.
Although XDA is not a place to extensively talk about what device person should buy, some forums permit it. So to help keep the threads a little cleaner, you may post your questions here.
Granted there are other sites more into device reviews and comparisons, but in the interest of keeping some people happy, and to avoid getting posts deleted, this thread is created for people who have no idea what device to get.
In the end, you should still march your happy self to a shop, and play with the devices that are available. Only then will you be satisfied with your purchase.
Any posts elsewhere asking such questions, that should be in this thread, will still be deleted or closed. This includes posting multi-duplicated posts in several forums outside of official threads.
Thanks, and Hope you use this.

wel, i had the atrix 4g and did alot with it. now i got the atrix 2. i like it more in terms of camera screen and overall feel and preformance, but this bootloader it bringing me down in terms of wanting more out of this awesome phone. so, with that said....around the ninth of may i will be leaving the atrix 2 threads as i have just pre ordered a htc one on [email protected] and will be moving there. the atrix 2 is going to a good friend as we are on aplan together but he has no knowledge of android so seeing that its already rooted and has a custom rom im sure ill he back off and on keeping him up to date with the latest and greatest i know this phone will get here soon. thanks devs for all the hard work for this device and maybe ill see a few of you in the htc one threads.

loved my atrix 4g. favorite phone ever. screen broke though and insurance didn't have any more so i had to get an atrix 2. build quality, screen and camera are better. sacrificed fingerprint sensor, battery life and slightly better processor for it though. also the dev support on the atrix 2 doesn't come close to the support for the OG atrix.

I'd get a Nexus just because the SIII is basically a beefier Nexus with TouchWiz 4.0 instead of straight ICS, but that's more personal preference than anything.

The Galaxy S III will be a great phone, they rooted it before it was even released and they already have an insecure kernel and boot image, so if you like ROMs and flashing. then that is the phone to get.
I will have a Galaxy S III the day it is released. I am in no way getting rid of the Atrix2, it will no longer be my daily driver, so I can hack the crap out the Atrix2, and get us some more great things, without having to worry about not being able to use my phone for an extended period of time, if I want to work on something over a whole weekend or something.

This is the boat I am in...my screen has gone bonkers, and my IT group wants to replace my Atrix with the Atrix 2. I had written off the A2 when they first gave me a choice...but this time I don't have a choice. Too bad because I have just about all the OG Atrix docks (car, lapdock, standard, HD, etc).
What I really want to know is whether or not I can modify the unit. With the OG Atrix now starting to see ICS with CM9 and AOKP, what will I be missing with the A2?

Honestly they are looking like the 2 strong contenders..... Sg3 boast a bit more cutting edge features and looks like one x does not have sd storage????? If I had the choice it would be Sg3 all day..... All boils down to preferences and needs do you need all Sg3 offers or would one x work for you.....
every htc phone sux in battery department....while SG3 Luks cheapish 4 a very high end phone ....i think sg2 is best and since price have gone down it more of a better choice...it can do everything what sg3 nd htc one x do....the only thing i t lacks is a hd display ....but seriously i saw htc one x nd SG2 hand to hand nd i dont notice any diffence in display pixel density....both look same....nothing big difference its just a hype of hd nothing more ......

I've posted my MB865 both on eBay and on Craig's List, and no takers. I've set the price very low and still have no luck trying to offload it. Guess I will just choke down the $199.00 from AT&T with a new 2 year for the SGS3.

Best Buy will probably buy it from you. Now I'm glad that I got the "buyback guarantee" thing. Once my contract is up I'll get about $150 for it to put towards another phone...more if I go in earlier. Earlier's looking good.

AOSP and AOKP are not going to work unless we unlock the bootloader. That is what I really like... I think blur is clumsy and fat...
The ONLY things about this phone that are great is that it is solid, and the battery is amazing.
Developing anything on this phone is a pain... my sgs 3 will be here tomorrow or tues at the latest, and I already have a kernel and cm9 compiled and ready to test and release over there.

No it does not have to have been bought at a best buy. I traded my HTC inspire that I bought at an AT&T corp store for the A2 and I had money left to buy a 32GB and a 64GB SDcard.
So basically I got the A2 and a 32GB SDcard, and a 64GB SDcard all for trading in my HTC Inspire 4g that was bought for 99 bucks at an AT&T corp store. So basically the phone was free and they gave me 2 SDcards with it...
Now I will say if you have ANY issues BB will screw you over, so be careful, and if you have an issue they will MAKE you get a geek squad monthly support contract... I told them to F-off, and took the first A2 that broke into the AT&T Corp store right across the street and AT&T still took care of me.
Oh, and I bought my SGS 3 from the AT&T website... no more BB after the issues with support even though it was 32 days after purchase.
I will say though, that if you need to trade your phone in to get another one, for money reasons, BB is the place to go. I have heard of certain AT&T corp stores doing trade ins, but the ones around me have never done that.

So, I'm in the market for a phone soon since UPS lost my Nexus 4 and I put insurance on it. I want something as big as the note but I want all the good stuff on it, SD Card, 1080p and mainly Upgradability. I'm thinking Note 2 or Optimus G Pro. Anything else out there? Switching to new Android Phone

Hello,
I have been using Android for over the last 4+ years! I have owned the myTouch 4G for over 3 years now, and have rooted the phone, as it is currently running CM7.2. I used the myTouch 4G as my daily driver, as I didn't want to have a laggy or glitched up phone.
Ultimately, I feel that it has been a a pretty long time since I looked into the latest Android phones out there, and am now looking to upgrade my phone to something faster, and more up to date technology wise, and of course, I am tired of running ginger bread.
As a college student, I ultimately want a fast, stable phone. I do not have the luxury of buying a $500 cell phone every few months, and so I have a strict budget of $150.
I feel like this price range makes it tough to find such a great phone, though, I did find the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G on amazon for $139.95 (http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...Mobile/dp/B007URA092/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top)
What are your opinions on this particular phone? is it a major upgrade to my current myTouch 4G?
What other phones do you guys have in mind that suits my price range and needs?
Thanks!
If you could up your budget by 30 then I read somewhere you can pick up a motoG for ~179... It's a good phone with sure upgrade to KK

My only downfall is that it has no MicroSD card to the phone, which is a disappointment... as I have a 32 GB Micro SD card on my current phone. Any other alternatives? I am also on T-Mobile if that helps.
yikes t-mobile is not the carrier to be with unless your happy with your current phone since they got rid of two year contracts, if you dont want to pay extra a few extra dollars for 24 months, i would just try to find something on ebay or swappa.

Those phones on the list make me feel like the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G is a better phone... I think that is my only option at this point.
Believe me, that Moto G for sure is a beautiful and fantastic phone (I have seen it work) but I really don't believe in syncing absolutely all my data to the cloud (nor do I want to drain my battery life with 4G processing/Wi-Fi). I still wouldn't mind having that 32GB+ of physical storage, as I have other things to worry about instead than memory.
just wondering, bump?

LG Nexus 5 16GB - Still worth it?

Hey guys tomorrow I may be getting a new smartphone and I was thinking if the LG Nexus 5 (16GB) is still worth it. The maximum I can afford is 350 euros. I'm not gonna pay more than that. I also have the option to choose between this one and LG G3S 8GB or LG G2 16GB. Which should I get and why? Thank you.
Out of those three get the Nexus, although if you can find one get a 32GB just for peace of mind. As for why, it's a Nexus so it's just better

There is no external SD card. You'd have to buy and otg cable ansbuab memory stick. You can then move sdcard data to otg using root apps such as folder mount.
Buy a used from Craigslist if you have one.

Be careful when buying from craigslist IMO. I bought mine from a guy who posted his ad on craigslist.. worked for 2-3 days then it wouldn't work. it turned out the phone was stolen and got blacklisted at least in Canada.
I haven't had trouble on craigslist. If you go that route have the person meet you at your service provider so they can check the imei. Works for me.
Yuup! Totally worth it. I have been using a Nexus 5 16GB for about 4 months now. Although a 32GB version is recommended if u can afford it, since Nexus 5 don't have External Memory!

Too late. But I'm still satisfied. 16GB is gonna be enough for me. I'm not an enthusiastic gamer but I do like to play sometimes. Usually if I get tired of a game I just delete it. I'm not into music so much, so songs don't bother me so much. A couple of apps wouldn't even get closer to 1GB (I'm not talking about gaming apps). I don't know about the typical sizes of kernels/roms but I think 16GB is plenty for my needs. Thanks.

Well, I'll learn to survive at the limit. In the future (2,5+ years later if it endures all the pain) I'll probably switch to N6 32GB.
The fact that the OS's size is 5GB sounds like a 'tricky scam' from the producers to me. The phone should have about 21GB total memory not 16 then.

I had ordered an anti-shock protection as well for the N5 but what's interesting is that they'd bring them to me separately (two different transport packages lol - which is more expensive).
