I'm currently on the ICS hboot. If I updated to jelly bean and restored my ICS backup, would it run correctly with the jelly bean hboot?
ICS runs great on JB hboot.

Don't know, if you will get an answer here.
I don't think, many people are going the way back to ICS.

When the OTA update for ICS drops, will there be a way to root and S-OFF with Revolutionary like there is for Gingerbread? Or will flashing the currently available firmwares be necessary? I'm not sure how the update process will work, as far as these things. I guess my question is: How would I root and S-OFF when ICS drops for Sensation 4g users? Thanks in advance.
Prob not right away.
Remember if you do choose to recieve the stock ics ota that you need to flash the stock recovery or you will end with a brick. Someone please correct me if i am wrong.
But with upgraded FW 3.30 and roms such as virtuous and ARHD ICS theres really no need to update to the official ics. I do understand if you want the official ics though.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, I've been trying to decide whether to go back to full stock (S-ON, etc.) and go the OTA way or just do it with the user-friendly firmwares, but I'm pretty hesitant to do the latter because of the chance of bricking. How likely is the chance of a mistake somehow being made, even if the appropriate steps are taken? I mean, I've seen all these threads with people seemingly doing it right but still ending up with bootloops, so I'm quite apprehensive about the whole thing.
Edit: Also, is the final ICS firmware backwards compatible with Gingerbread ROMs, by any chance?
Na. Ics has to run on 3.24 fw and up

You shouldn't end up with a brick if you don't have the stock recovery. I had the real stock experience Rom android 2.3.3 and when I did the software search it found the android 2.3.4 update. I downloaded it but all it says is you have made modifications to your phone...the update won't work.
Also. There is currently NO information whatsoever if revolutionary will update, and if it will support the sensation at all. If it did though I could fix my phone. Personally I'd go for the newest arhd although I can't. It's better than the official will be, I'm guessing that after a week or two sense will start to crash again. No matter what HTC have said.
I did the same as Sensation Lover. Coming from a stock 2.3.4, S-OFF and rooted. After the update completed it just stuck at the HTC splash screen upon reboot.
I just ended up reflashing the 1.50 TMO RUU and then did the update. I was S-OFF before the update via HTC Dev and that stayed.
If you are soff dont go back to son for the update. Like others have already said. You can flash the stock recovery then just use ota with soff. If you decide you want to root it'll be pretty simple

Think there's any chance that the Cyanogen team will abandon their dev work on ICS for the Sensation in favor of Jelly Bean (like they did with Gingerbread when ICS came along)?

Yes but dont be so morbid (Joke)! the source code for Jelly Bean hasnt been dropped yet so they cant start work on it yet but they probably will once the code is out there
I see the amazing work being done on the camera (oneXed).. And it is huge. Look at the before and after videos especially.
Being I likely won't ever be able to run that apk myself, do we get it on the jelly bean update, whenever we get that..?
Please elaborate more....
I think you're a bit confused.
The 4.1 camera is SENSE 4.1 camera, not JELLY BEAN 4.1 camera..
Btw, is u have 4.1 sense rom, u can flash the file attached and have that camera on your phone

Elaboration:
I want this on my phone:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1765416&page=41
But I don't have root, so I cannot simply flash it to my phone.
they say jelly bean is coming to the one xl.
m.engadget.com/2012/07/20/htc-confirms-jelly-bean-for-one-x-one-xl-and-one-s/
Will I get this camera (oneXed) with the next ota update, being I won't be able to root? (2.20)
Metal head where are you? Respond please. Or gunny, or 18.
The answer to your question is how the heck should we know?
If we ever get a Jellybean ROM leak we'll know.
One of my friends asked me to update their Sensation to either ICS or Jelly Bean from Gingerbread. So I Unlocked the bootloader, turned S-Off, and rooted it. However when I tried to flash CM9, It froze on the Welcome screen after I picked my language. What could be causing this?
I have heard it could be a firmware problem, but I am usure what it could be and how to fix it. The H-Boot version is old at 1.18.
Also, are there any good stable Jelly Bean ROMs? I checked out the CM10, but the fact Chrome is broken in it sucks.
Hi there, I use Paranoid Android by Dragon korr. Its jelly bean. In my experience its been fast, smooth, and stable and has a great development ! I personality love it and had zero problems with it. All is working well. It has tons of customization and has proven to be a excellent daily ROM! We are on version 14 right now. I use kernel 3.0.51, which can be found on page 1. My battery life had been excellent. Wi-Fi works great! I'm running 3.33 firmware with it. You ought to give it a try and see what you think. For me, its been amazing and one of the best ROMs I've ever used. It has different modes you can use. I suggest you read the first page carefully. You can make your phone a tablet, or a phone-tablet hybrid , or just keep it phone view. Its a lot of fun trying out different modes and seeing which you like. A new kernel and new version (15) is coming soon . I highly recommend giving it a try and seeing what you think. Best wishes.

Why do you suggest going to ICS before Jelly Bean?
I know it sounds kind of silly to be going back DOWN sense, but I really loved the Serene theme that Sense 4.1 had, it brings me nostalgia from first getting my One X. Sense 4+ removed it and I wanna mess with it again.
I tried searching through threads but almost every ROM now is using Sense 4+ or Sense 5. I don't mind if it's a bit outdated, I just want to go back to a Sense 4.1 Rom. Are there any versions of ViperXL that ran on 4.1? Or any other Rom? Thanks in advance.

That ROM is for the quad core version (ENDEAVORU).
Yeah....thats for the quad-core, I don't wanna mess up my phone.
But after some more searching, I found out that the 2.x.x versions of ViperXL use Sense 4.1 but they run on ICS. Is it safe to downgrade from Jellybean back to Ice Cream Sandwich? I flashed a new radio and wouldn't want any compatibility problems....
And are there any Jelly Bean versions of Sense 4.1? Or is Jelly Bean exclusive to Sense 4+?

To answer your first question, you should be fine to downgrade unless you aren't s-off with hboot under 1.14 then you have to flash boot.img but you should be good. To answer your second question I believe 4.1 is only ICS.

You might try installing the standalone apk first... https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11362501/Serene.apk

my bad, I was very tired last night, didn't notice it was for the endev.
poiny being there definitely is viperxl in sense 4.1 flavour, seeing this phone was shipped with ICS.
Yes it is safe, provided you are fully s-off.

I believe that is true. I think HTC pretty much went to Sense 4+ once they went to JB.

Wait, you need to be S-Off in order to downgrade to ICS? I thought it was just a matter of flashing a new ROM?
I'm currently on H-Boot 1.14 S-On.
Yes you can just flash an ics rom, if you wanted to Ruu you would need to be s-off.
