[Q] Any Sense 4.1 ROMs still out there? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I know it sounds kind of silly to be going back DOWN sense, but I really loved the Serene theme that Sense 4.1 had, it brings me nostalgia from first getting my One X. Sense 4+ removed it and I wanna mess with it again.
I tried searching through threads but almost every ROM now is using Sense 4+ or Sense 5. I don't mind if it's a bit outdated, I just want to go back to a Sense 4.1 Rom. Are there any versions of ViperXL that ran on 4.1? Or any other Rom? Thanks in advance.

That ROM is for the quad core version (ENDEAVORU).

Yeah....thats for the quad-core, I don't wanna mess up my phone.
But after some more searching, I found out that the 2.x.x versions of ViperXL use Sense 4.1 but they run on ICS. Is it safe to downgrade from Jellybean back to Ice Cream Sandwich? I flashed a new radio and wouldn't want any compatibility problems....
And are there any Jelly Bean versions of Sense 4.1? Or is Jelly Bean exclusive to Sense 4+?

To answer your first question, you should be fine to downgrade unless you aren't s-off with hboot under 1.14 then you have to flash boot.img but you should be good. To answer your second question I believe 4.1 is only ICS.

You might try installing the standalone apk first... https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11362501/Serene.apk

my bad, I was very tired last night, didn't notice it was for the endev.
poiny being there definitely is viperxl in sense 4.1 flavour, seeing this phone was shipped with ICS.
Yes it is safe, provided you are fully s-off.

I believe that is true. I think HTC pretty much went to Sense 4+ once they went to JB.

Wait, you need to be S-Off in order to downgrade to ICS? I thought it was just a matter of flashing a new ROM?
I'm currently on H-Boot 1.14 S-On.

Yes you can just flash an ics rom, if you wanted to Ruu you would need to be s-off.

[Q] ICS yes or not?

Hello Friends
I am a bit cunfused If I am reading experiences and problems from people using new ICS for HTC Sense.
My question is simple, flash ICS or wait until all bugs will be solved?
I am new in android so I have not any experiences to help developers somehow
and I donĀ“t want to reinstall telephone so offen.
Thank you in advance for your help in this decision.
Why dont u give it a try then u'll know urself?
With me the leak ICS is stable enough.
I've used ARHD, and IC, both work great, and I didn't have any issues... fast, stable and great battery life. I'm currently on VI 3.5 since the lock screen caller ID issues has been fixed, and it's a great AOSP rom.
+1 on Virtuous Inquisition.
Official HTC ICS is coming out in March I believe. What isn't known is what HBOOT version it'll have. If might become hard/impossible to S-OFF if applying official ICS.
If you haven't already done so, s-off via revolutionary.io now, then it's done.

You won't regret it
Thank you to everybody for their answer, just for information I prefer Rom with Sense, so VI is nice, but probably not for me.

Strange... I looked at Elegancia ROM ICS ant there is nothing about CID, Firmware, Radio.Just copy and flash over CWM. Why is so big difference between installation process or just autor of this ROM to forget to tell us.....
I know, Every time is possibility to go back, but need a time......
Thank for answers.
Using hypersensation 0.4 ics with no problems and excellent battert life.
Would not go back to gingerbread now.

Which rom did you flash
Steve
Flash ICS its good.
I personally like the look of stock ICS so i went with Virtuous Inquisition because nothing was really broken and is pretty stable. However, before I used Android Revolution HD 6.x.x for a while. It is also very stable. It all comes down to if you want stock or with HTC Sense. Also to mention, I never went back to Gingerbread. It's not optimized for dual core.
ICS is the only way to go Bro! It rocks and is progressive!
Can I S-Off now and still get ICS OTA in March?
Sorry for the n00b question but I was wondering if I can and should S-Off now or will that mess me up to get the ICS OTA in March?
I was actually using ARHD for GB but went back to stock since it was announced that ICS would come to the Sensation in March. I figured I could wait until my phone was "officially" updated before re-rooting. I didn't want to mess up the OTA update.
Is my thinking flawed? Will S-Off and rooting mess up the OTA or will it be okay?
ARHD was okay but some things didn't work correctly (Plants vs. Zombies kept restarting, another app got stuck, etc.). Does anyone know why? Is it the overclocking?

[Q] Thoughts: Stable rom before official update?

If you guys remember we got the sense 3 update leaked long before we expected it. I wonder if this will be the same for the ICS update. Anyone wonder if we will get a stable rom before the official release
It depends. We need people to leak the ruu

You won't get an official HTC OTA update on a rooted phone with a Custom ROM... and if somehow you do manage to get one while on a Sense ROM, DO NOT flash it... you'll end up in a bootloop.
As far as getting to use it, you'll get it on XDA much before people on stock ROMs (if history is anything to go by...). Hell, I think you might be running Sense 4 before HTC decides to give you Sense 3.6 officially.
Google search for details.

Yeah I think we will get 4.0 before 3.6!
I'm sure the RUU for the One V will be out before our RUU for ICS.

Maybe with their larger user base they will be able to find an exploit to gain root in their update that we can use in ours? ::wishful thinking::

Yup, that is wishful thinking. International users can unlock their bootloaders "officially", then just install recovery and flash SU. So they don't need an exploit to root, nor is it likely they will expend much effort finding one.
Aside from the menu button, what are the differences between Sense 4.0 and Sense 4.1?
AT&T's update didn't include sense 4.1, the international update does. I want!

My phone is not rooted, I have stock 2.20 that cannot be rooted. How do WE have sense 4.1? Mine shows 4.0. Please explain how I have it.

Obviously being stock unrooted has its drawbacks.
If your still stock and on 2.20 then that's all you have for now. If you are able to root you can have sense 4.1 ported from the int hox

AT&T 2.20 + Sense 4.1?

Is there a way to have the 2.20 rom but with Sense 4.1?
My first HOX came with 2.20 and it ran sooo good, no lag, super smooth,, not a single issue,,, but... no root.
So now I had tried all the Custom ROMS available for the HOX and none of them are running as smooth as the 2.20 was. so my question is..
is there a way to have 2.20 and sense 4.1? I searched and only found 2.20 but 2.20 comes with sense 4.0.
thanks
No, either wait for the official 4.1 release or try a custom Rom
If you also would search the changelog for sense 4.1 it brings the speed improvements that your talking about.

4.0 (ruu) vs. GB 2.3.5

hey guys.
i decided to wait a few weeks to update to the Android 4.0 Update (ruu). currently im using Gingerbread 2.3.5 (not root, no customrom) and i think its ok.
you people who have installed the Android 4.0 Ruu Update, if you got another chance to update from 2.3.5 to the Ruu 4.0 , would u do it or not?
after some weeks of testing and exp. 4.0 , u think its better than gingerbread?
thanks

I updated to the 4.0.4 ruu and I wasn't too impressed by sense 3.6. I have been trying to find ways to get back to gingerbread but I can't find any.
why not go directly to jellybean?

try this link below to downgrade from ics to gb
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1876188&page=4
There isn't a huge amount of difference between the two os's but I found the new UI actually worse than before and a little bit slower. However you do get a bunch of new features like face unlock and more. It's a difficult one but I think ICS just about wins as it is a little nicer and more fun to use.
