bootloader and rooting qeustions

1.what is the easiest way to root my device? just bought it on sunday and took a update then. have searched online and couldnt find a clear way,
2. is there a way to relock the bootloader? i have already unlocked it in preperation for rooting

if you are already unlocked easiest way is to flash a custom recovery via fastboot. Just look in the thread of your desired Recovery.
Than just flash the rom you like via recovery.
I would recommend Hydro or the new JB Rom from Term

Where would i find the threads for the custom recoveries? Thanks for the quick answer by the way

Answer to #2 : At this time unlock is permanent. They have logged your serial #.

Did you experance recovery issues with this? Im a bit nervous to try twrp if it has a good chance of not recovering

with TWRP for JB,no rom worked,help!

I have a tf300t(bought from US,I am a chinese),it isn't unlocked until update to stock JB(i update to 4.1.1from OTA,locked),but after unlocked,I flash the CWM 5.5.0.4,but it didn't work.Then i flash the TWRP 2.2.1.3 for JB only(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843694),it worked.But after i flash the fireware "ASUS-ICS-HYDRO-PONIC"(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750861),after reboot,the device hanged at the asus logo for a long time(i watched it for even 10 minutes.....),so i tried the stock rom(download from ASUS site,US_epad-user-9.4.3.30.zip)but it didn't word too.Now my tf300t can't boot to the OS,it only can get into the recovery(TWRP2.2.1.3 for JB).somebody help me......,I wonder if it is the update from OTA to cause my problem)

And others. There should be a fix soon to downgrade back to ICS and start over. Hang in there and be patience. At least you can get into TWRP so there's still hope.

yes it worked,my tf300t is unlocked,there is the word"this device is unlocked" on the asus logo screen.but it can't load os.

So I wonder if maybe you would have luck wiping and trying to install a jb based ROM like cm10? Since you're already on jb firmware its understandable that an ICS ROM fails... I'm by no means an expert but just someone considering an unlock after JB ota

Looks like partition sizes chaged with the Asus update. I couldn't flash CM10 or any other rom as well (signature mismatch). If you installed the official 4.1.1 update, you need to manually install it again. Older versions and rollbacks wont work unless you push to some trickery mmcblk0p4, but that's another thread in itself
Download the JB update from Asus's website (if you still have it, that's fine) and extract the blob file. Put the blob file in teh same directory as your fastboot. Boot your TF300 into bootloader and enter:
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash system blob
It will take a while to install, so be patient. Hope this helps

but there is another question,can i flash other fireware like cm10 or downgrade the TF300T now?I do not like the JB OS,it is bed support on flash video.I need it.

Not yet. This fix is in the works. The new custom recoveries need to be modified for OTA JB first. Keep an eye on the development threads.

1. Update to JB using OTA
2. Unlock
3. Flash TWRP
4. Flash extracted blob
You have an unlock/custom recovery method for those of us on JB am I correct?

yes exactly! but you need flash the TWRP again after flash the extracted blob,or it will be the stock recovery.and then you can flash the ROOT.zip.So the device will be rootd.

[Q] Root tablet without computer?

I have a tf300 with jellybean firmware JRO03C.US_epad-10.4.2.9-20120809 and the bootloader is unlocked.
I can charge my tablet, but any computer i try, it cannot connect to the computer.
Is there any way I can root it? Thanks for the help!

You can install TRWP 2.2.2.0 with Terminal Emulator apk
If you can push the blob files on your internal SDcard, after you can just follow the process TWRP 2.2 - Asus Transformer TF300T(G) page
but for rooted your TF, you will need one computer...

If you get the recovery working. I would assume you could flash a new rom stock or custom thats rooted already

I need to root first tho i guess i am screwed

[Q] Bootloader problem there is no USB icon 4.2.1

As I write I do not have USB icon in bootloader mode menu only RCK, android and Wipe Data. I'm running on 4.2.1 and I would like to ROOT my tablet. But I do not know how? Pls help

I unlocked my bootloader just so that I can root and just as Urla i only have RCK, android and Wipe Data, with no usb option. Please Help.

See this thread. Just not possible yet.
Current versions of CWM and TWRP for the TF300T need to be updated to read the 4.2.1 file system.

I also unlocked device, searching for solution whole day but nothing , any suggestions?

Here is a tool to unlock your device. However if you do you will forfit you warranty. Oh wait, the tool dosnt work, heres a new one, but if you installed the other one yr SOL. Thanks ASUS.

I had success with old tool. After update installed and ran it says device unlocked at top on bootup.

yes is says it is unlocked with the old one, but no you cant do anything because there is no usb icon

With the new 4.2.1 boot loader it automatically boot into usb mode (fastboot), unless you change it with the volume keys.

So just get to that screen and fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery recovery.img ?

That is the correct commands yes but wait until CWM is fixed before you flash the recovery. It will do you no good at this point

Ok Thank You. I was getting really upset that there was no usb icon and the new v8 unlocker wouldnt work.

I tried to do that but when I come into fastboot mode I can't comunicate with device. On command adb devices I got nothing.

How to root if already unlocked and on stock 4.2.1 update?

Just recently got the TF700 and have got to do something about the performance. Looking at the threads it seems running a custom ROM+Kernel is the only way to make this thing perform better.
In going through the how-to threads, I think I did things in the wrong order.
I used the ASUS Unlocking tool to unlock the device, but didn't downgrade it first to JB 4.1.1 so I can root it using the motochomper(?).
Any thoughts on how I can proceed to root the device and install TWRP next?

Just use motochopper to root (This tool worked on all JB version) then download Goomanager from the market and install TWRP. Once done use twrp to flash cromi-X rom.

No you need to download the Asus unlock tool from Asus site (version 7 will work on ICS and all JB version).

Much thanks! I now have my device rooted and unlocked. In a previous post you had mentioned to flash cromi-x custom rom after root/unlock. I read about the 2 different flavours it offers...ODEX and DEODEX and I'm aware of the differences. Is there a favorite choice between the 2? Also, you mention to use TWRP to flash cromi-x, but can I not also use GooManager to flash as well?

I would use TWRP to flash, I preferred ODEX (smoother, snappier reported by most ppl). Download "rebooter" app from the market (red circle logo), then open it and select boot into recovery, it should boot you directly into twrp, then select install, then browse to cromi-X zip file and execute it.

Sorry to hijack the thread but im having similar issues, everytime i do a OTA update my tablet resets root and i have the VOODOO rootkeeper app but it does not work.
Ever since the new update ive been trying to get root back but my DEVELOPER Options IN settings have dissapeared and i dont know how to get it back to enable debbuging to get the fastboot going can anyone help?
Also what is motochomper and where do i get it

to enable debugging: go to settings about and press seven times on build number(correct if wrong) a message should appear and debugging should be there again

With the new bootloader you don't have the usb icon as you will be in fastboot mode as soon as you enter bootloader.

Fastboot for JB 4.2.1 is volume down and power button, you should see 3 icons and read the text, it should say fastboot mode enabled.
edit- volume up and power buttons is APX mode (black screen).
