[Q] good stable Rom? - Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G

i just got my blaze back from being broken and theres alot of new roms out and they all look good. but i want to know some of yalls set ups. whats some good stable roms ?? please let me know and thank you

i rooted mine, and within 5 minutes had cyanogenmod on it. i'm a sucker for some cyanogen.
so far it's very fast, very stable. haven't had an issue yet.
replaced the stock camera with ICS camera and ICS gallery. a little slower, but no sdcard issues.
this morning i had bluetooth streaming to my helmet, wifi downloading maps, and txt messsages all blazing through it. really is a nice phone. and cheap too !

I'm using Racing11696's AOKP and have no complaints!

After finally mustering the courage to root I flashed CM10, and it was seamless, man. Aside from the occasional force close it was absolutely perfect. I just flashed LiquidSmooth and so far its running fairly well (keeping a backup of CM10 just in case ) It seems to me Liquid has more options for customization and has some pretty useful tools built into the ROM instead of going third party, but it just doesn't feel like it runs quite as smooth. Customization and tools, or a seamless UI, that is the question.

[Q] Lightweight ROM for Infuse

Hi everyone, I was just wondering what you all recommend for a lightweight ROM for the infuse, id like it to be stable as possible and no bloatware. Basically a ROM with nothing but the basics and lets you get the job done.
Thanks in advance!
Also, if there is not really a match for this or others would like this I would love to get one up myself. If someone could point me towards the basics of creating a ROM it would be greatly appreciated.
I've only tried Legend 3 ICS, Mind of Mac, and Ethereal 1.2/1.3, and while they're all great in their individual ways, i've found Ethereal to be the smoothest with a slight speed advantage over the others. It seems to be the most basic with not a lot, but just enough theming to set it apart from stock. It's the ROM i'm sticking with for now. I'm sure others will have some suggestions too..
I've been using stock gb with bloatware removed for about two months now. Works great and is pleasantly smooth. Used Holocaust launcher for the ICS look w/o the battery drain, bugs, etc.

Those are all good options for stable, close to stock, and debloated. I'd add Vagabond 3.5 and 4.0 to the list too.
You can also grab dman's UCLB3 rooted, deodexed package and do your own debloating either by removing apps from the zip in /system/app or using TiBu to do the same once installed... that will get you very close to stock, stable, debloated, and rooted...
And...there are plenty of other roms that have more customizations, are still stable, and provide a different look and feel to using your Infuse. I recommend finding the stable rom you like, then using the infuse toolkit to make a full rom backup and a config backup. After that you can survey the Infuse Super Everything Thread (ISET) for links to other roms. (Links to toolkit and ISET are in my sig).
cm7
or cm9?
I just started using slim ics,its small like 80mb
Ethereal for me, I haven't tried a lot of ROMs though. I tried MIUI few months ago, the version I tried was very fast, but buggy. No Bluetooth, no HDMI etc.
Recently, I tried Ethereal, most recent version with HOLO Launcher and I must say my Infuse has been brought back to life. I might keep it for another year until a stable Jelly Bean Android device comes out. I wish they make a Nexus with expandable memory and a +5 inch screen; until then, Infuse on Ethereal will be my daily driver

Slimbean and liquidsmooth are the 2 most stable of the roms I've tried. Slim being the lightest I believe.

Which ROM should I use with my TB?

So I've been out of the whole ROM scene for a while now, I have CM7 on my TB still and it sucks pretty hard, and I'm looking to install a new rom. I mostly tether, text, and sometimes talk on the phone. I'm not that big on apps except like sports center, twitter, and facebook...usuallly don't play games. Any suggestions on where to start?
There isn't much to complain about in regards to CM7, as we don't have a whole lot of new development. Slayher's CM7 build is still my favorite T-Bolt rom in terms of speed and stability. I run a 1.6ghz OC and it's pretty snappy. Thundershed is a very popular ROM right now and is based off of the CM7.2 codebase with an ICS theme, so I would certainly check it out if you are looking for something that feels different. You'll probably want to look into various roms on your own as it's honestly opinionated with a few exceptions.
Team Liquid is also working on an ICS rom that has working Phone and SMS, but data isn't working yet(they are coding the RIL from scratch). I would keep my eye on it as the rom will probably become ready for daily use in the near future. As soon as data works, I'll probably switch over from CM7 unless there are other issues that arise with the rom.
I used to suggest to users any rom by ThunderStick, but he was a complete dbag recently on his rom thread when questioned on one of the issues the rom had. I guess because he moved to a nexus he stopped caring about the TB. I would check out the rom list (thunderbolt development forum) and go through each one. BAMF has always been high on peoples list.

Come on, you asked a question that any amount of thought or common sense should have answered for you, thunderstick and others gave you appropriate responses. Back on topic though, skyraider is great. Thundershed, jellyblur, and sfkcm7 are awesome AOSP roms and worth a look too. There's also a bunch of solid desensed roms out there. It's best to flash some roms and get to know your own tastes that way. After all, only you know what your ideal rom is.

All of them.

If you're looking for something different, Vicious and SPJester's MIUI rom works very nicely. It's easy to customize using the built in MIUI system. Everything but MMS works I believe, but the way the rom is set up is a bit strange (as there is no app drawer, sort of like IOS). Still, very solid and, having tried pretty much every tbolt rom out there, this is the one I always come back to.
Using JellyBlur v1.3 and having 0 problems so far. Been running it for awhile now without any problems and love it. Thinking about putting it on my husband's Thunderbolt as Skyraider Zues is giving him some problems.
Agreed Jellyblur 1.3 CM7.2 Rocks!

I'm with you, personally Jellyblur 1.3 has been the best running, slickest rom I've used. I've tried Bamf, and quite a few other roms out there. This for me is going to be my daily. I'm hoping we can get ICS (but not counting on it, and the only reason I want it is so the devs can grab the RIL and do something awesome with it).

Jellyblur V1.3-CM7 y SPJester
I recently went through most of the recommended ROMs (after unrooting to get the OTA radio update, doing a clean wipe, then re-rooting) and I have landed on Jellyblur V1.3-CM7 y SPJester which seems to be the slickest and best-running I've seen so far. Battery life is good, audio, SMS/MMS, data, and phone work. It is thankfully De-Sensed and instead uses the Go Launcher.

Post ICS launch, which ROM are you using and Why. ICS or JB

First, thanks to the Devs working on the CM9 and CM10 ROMs. They are looking good.
I just wanted to see which ROMs you guys were using primarily now. I jumped from GB right to CM10 from dr4stic. I'm pretty happy with it so far.
Are you guys using JB, or sticking with a flavor of ICS?
I'm using Blaz3r 4.0.4 by ptmr3 and I couldn't be happier. I like TouchWiz, and a lot of the stock widgets so this one fits me just fine.
Oh that's right, I forgot about TouchWiz
Stock ICS by tthaz777, I love it. I miss Tweaked (GB), but I want to run ICS and need wi-fi calling. I also loaded CM10 but downgraded back to 4.0.4

Drove 300 miles today used GPS, Looked at Google now 20 times to see how far away I was from home. I used the bluetooth to talk and play some tunes as well. I really like using a stock camera and the Samsung messaging is sweet. Only thing I can say if you use this, it seemed to take longer than 10 minutes to settle in ( I also have gone back and fixed permissions when adding apps) +1

Funny that I used ...ahem... used to have a skinomi screen protector on my Blaze but for some reason after 2 months in it started developing weird bubbles/lines that weren't present even days after installation so I took it off. That was over a month ago now and no scratches. I'm unsure if gorilla glass is used on this phone as I can't find any conclusive evidence on what it is. Maybe I got a bad skinomi, as my old exhibit and my wife's sensation have skinomi's and are still perfect. Just make sure you are ready and have the phone spotless or you will see those same dust spots for a long time lol.

I was really impressed with CM10 but sadly the random MAC address issue along with the lack of wifi calling (a CM issue in general) made me go back to Blaz3r. I'm sure CM10 development will chug along and it's hard to deny the feel of it - I may be going back to it soon (especially once hardware key notifications are fixed - I miss a notification light). You will have bugs/slowdowns on Blaz3r until getting titanium on it solely to remove Nova launcher. A reinstall of nova fixes it and I'm sure this is something that will be fixed (along with adding a default music player) with the next version. There are a few customization options but I would like more - kind of like the amount of customization options in DK on GB lol Development overall is really great here and there are plenty of options considering how long it's been since source dropped.

There is a milestone for cm10. The 4.2 ROMs are still in beta mode. I have been running cm10 m1 for weeks and everything works perfectly. Like I said 4+ hours of screen time plus all the customizations make it too hard to go back to anything TW based.

Not trying to be a jerk but when people say everything works perfectly and I go into said ROMs thread only to find bugs it annoys me. Not trying to be a jerk, but you said it yourself "possible issues" it doesn't mean that everyone will have issues. We all know that ROMs behave differently on different phones. I may be lucky but I haven't experienced much of the problems people claim in CM10.1. I doubt I'll ever look back at TouchWiz-based roms.
Personally, I've never used CM on any of my devices, I've always used others. For instance, I ran stock unrooted Touchwiz on my S3 for a couple months, then I switched to Liquidsmooth, I had that as my daily driver for at least 6 weeks, but the FC's and data dropouts were too much to bear so I went looking for another ROM, I installed Mean Lean Jellybean Machine Build 4 and loved it, so once Build 5 came out I switched to that, and have been on it ever since! I think I'll be staying on this ROM for awhile.

TouchWiz is actually an awesome oem skin for Android. It gets unfairly attacked because people think AOSP/CM must be better.
My personal experience: after rooting never used cm10.1 went straight to finding a good rom. Used executioner 2.5 liked the feel, speed, and battery life. Felt very stable. Tried cleanrom but started experiencing some bugs, switched quickly. Currently im running superchargedwiz rom kyjelly and it seems very stable i closely compare it to executioner 2.5 although im not getting the same battery life as i was getting on executioner but supercharged is very smooth. If i can figure out ktweakers kernal that came with supercharged, i know its possible to tweak it just right to get the right battery settings. My suggestion if your looking for a good rom to play with try one of these 2.

CM10.1 as a daily driver. Who is pulling this off?

I want to use CM10.1 as a daily driver, but all of the bugs and small nicks make me go back to more developed and stable TW roms. Anyone using 10.1 as a daily? Can you give me your opinions on it? Which rom are you using? What bugs do you notice?
Thank you
996
The in call volume has been fixed for me so I'm going to run it as a daily driver from now on.
Bluetooth audio is still completely broken I hear but it's not something I depend on or use without going out of my way.
Unless some other huge bug manifests, all is going pretty well.
So far there are two main issues that make me consider going back to TW:
1. Sometimes when I interrupt a game from loading, the entire system is laggy as hell until I reboot
2. There is a small delay when answering the phone. I don't know who can hear who during that delay, but its annoying nonetheless.
I'm waiting for the stretched image bug to be fixed on multi-window ROMs before I go back to TW though. It's definitely daily driver worthy.

Been daily on mine since the unofficial cm10 back in August, fine here but maybe I just can't stand TW. Only little issue Ive come across that bothers me is sometimes it will think a short press on menu/home is a long press and have to reboot. Bluetooth audio is fine if you go into the build.prop and modify lpa.decode to false

Been using as daily driver since unofficial cm10, lost IMEI and had some pretty good scares but I have been loving it ever since. I would say the only issue for me right now is the screen flickering which can be somewhat fixed by disabling HW overlay, which does not seem to stick through a reboot.

if you are going to "wait for all the nicks and bugs get sifted out", you might always have a wait. Custom ROMs are just that, custom, and sometimes, what works for one phone won't work for another.
Just pick one that you like the features, and learn work arounds or ignore the "nicks and bugs"
Thanks to all the DEVs! I love waving my modded S3 under everyone running stock and asking why their phones can't do what mine does!

Synergy is pretty awesome. It's not a huge adjustment once you get it configured with your custom launcher. Plus, MultiView is amazing!

Hold the back button and it'll pop up on the left side then just drag an app from there to the screen

Mastamoon in the official 10.1 thread has been putting out some rocking unofficial builds that contain cherry picks for most of the issues that have annoyed me. I really suggest checking out his 1/4 build (I'm on this) or his latest. He seems to have Bluetooth and call volume issues pretty close to being wrapped up.

I ran liquid's for two weeks or so, but my flashing addiction made me try something else. Went back to AOKP 4.1 but now I'm back on stock TW that I made a few modifications to. I replaced the MMS app and keyboard with AOSP as well as the UI sounds, and I'm fairly content for now. Usually any kind of lags annoys me, but I've found JB Touchwiz to be alright ( I was an avid HTC user prior. Touchwiz is way smoother than Sense.)

I want to use CM10.1 as a daily driver, but all of the bugs and small nicks make me go back to more developed and stable TW roms. Anyone using 10.1 as a daily? Can you give me your opinions on it? Which rom are you using? What bugs do you notice?
Thank you

I am running the CM 10.1 Official NIGHTLIES. They have been my daily driver since almost beginning of the month. My custom ringtone only rings once when someone calls, answering calls ends up with a weird delay before anyone can hear you. A couple of other small bugs, but no deal-breakers that I really see.

I like slim bean 4.2 but I am not able to find a working wifi tether for it. Most 4.2 roms I cannot get wireless tether working
Update. Running 10.1. I dirty flashed from 10 and all my problems were solved. Pretty awesome having the latest version of android. Love it. Battery life can be better though haha

I love CM, but lately it seems they have too much going on. The barely got 4.1 working, and came out with the M2 release, and then moved on to 4.2, which is CM 10.1. I prefer to stay with a dev that will tweak their ROM and stick with it until they get it right. That's why I will not use CM anymore. Unless they have hundreds of devs working constantly to keep up with the number of devices they support, they're eventually going to become a ROM that's unreliable. I hope I wrong, but with the S3 they're clearly not completing one OS before moving to another, which makes them a no go IMO.
Battery life has been absolutely incredible for me on 10.1. 9 hours on battery all on 4G with 20 min screen on at 80%

Just flashed the DarthStalker ROM onto my S3 I've had for about 2 weeks now, it works beautifully, I've gotta say. Super fast, native WiFi hotspot/USB tethering, I would highly recommend at least checking it out.
