[Q] Lightweight ROM for Infuse - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hi everyone, I was just wondering what you all recommend for a lightweight ROM for the infuse, id like it to be stable as possible and no bloatware. Basically a ROM with nothing but the basics and lets you get the job done.
Thanks in advance!
Also, if there is not really a match for this or others would like this I would love to get one up myself. If someone could point me towards the basics of creating a ROM it would be greatly appreciated.

I've only tried Legend 3 ICS, Mind of Mac, and Ethereal 1.2/1.3, and while they're all great in their individual ways, i've found Ethereal to be the smoothest with a slight speed advantage over the others. It seems to be the most basic with not a lot, but just enough theming to set it apart from stock. It's the ROM i'm sticking with for now. I'm sure others will have some suggestions too..

I've been using stock gb with bloatware removed for about two months now. Works great and is pleasantly smooth. Used Holocaust launcher for the ICS look w/o the battery drain, bugs, etc.

Those are all good options for stable, close to stock, and debloated. I'd add Vagabond 3.5 and 4.0 to the list too.
You can also grab dman's UCLB3 rooted, deodexed package and do your own debloating either by removing apps from the zip in /system/app or using TiBu to do the same once installed... that will get you very close to stock, stable, debloated, and rooted...
And...there are plenty of other roms that have more customizations, are still stable, and provide a different look and feel to using your Infuse. I recommend finding the stable rom you like, then using the infuse toolkit to make a full rom backup and a config backup. After that you can survey the Infuse Super Everything Thread (ISET) for links to other roms. (Links to toolkit and ISET are in my sig).

cm7
or cm9?

I just started using slim ics,its small like 80mb

Ethereal for me, I haven't tried a lot of ROMs though. I tried MIUI few months ago, the version I tried was very fast, but buggy. No Bluetooth, no HDMI etc.
Recently, I tried Ethereal, most recent version with HOLO Launcher and I must say my Infuse has been brought back to life. I might keep it for another year until a stable Jelly Bean Android device comes out. I wish they make a Nexus with expandable memory and a +5 inch screen; until then, Infuse on Ethereal will be my daily driver

Using JB liquid smooth and its quick and haven't had any stability issues at all. I would give it a go, think you would love it ! You can remove anything you don't want to lighten it up

Slimbean and liquidsmooth are the 2 most stable of the roms I've tried. Slim being the lightest I believe.

The best ROM for my mom

My mom just got an Infuse 4G last night. She's unhappy with the stock ROM (rather, she's not liking it). Realistically I am using this opportunity to break the woman into smartphones, and the Infuse 4G is a great one with a screen that she can read (I love the look of that AMOLED, it's making me want a Samsung when it's time to upgrade).
The question is, which ROM is the most user-friendly? If you read my sig you'll see I have an Atrix 4G myself and am currently running an Alpha ROM so you'll know I am no stranger to the mod community. I just don't want to go from ROM to ROM to ROM showing her each one, wasting my entire day reflashing her phone. If anyone can come up with one or two suggestions for me to try for her, I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm looking for something ICS-like, smooth as butter, and not over-the-top like some of the Atrix guys like to go. Thanks for your help!

Imho, find out what she wants out of the phone and tweak it with apps. Stick with stock froyo and avoid the grief.
Ex. Big text battery indicator to show battery. Business calendar is better than stock. Go launcher is better than stock. Show her how to put direct dial shortcut on the screen etc...show her the widgets.
Leave the rom alone because everything works.
From my experience, it's the app and how to use the phone...not the ROM
For better battery life, odin flash one of the stock gingerbread leaks and leave it. KK4 leak would be OK. KL2 is better but tw30 is messed up on it. I like the stock froyo but the battery life sucks.

See I'm attempting to throw CatyRom on it, the ICS app tray is really what I'm after. Something like that would keep it simple for her to find things without having to go through the app drawer which is what has overloaded her in the past. She absolutely refuses to use an iPhone because of this.

Hah. I thought this thread was a joke when I read the subject line.
Well at this point it we have a handful of really good stable, infuse based roms. So it's all about what color she wants really lol.
Have her take a look at the screenshots for : Zeus, Caty, Bionix, Numas, Victory rom, or infused(old one but a goodie). And pick which one is astheticaly pleasing to her.
Nah, no joke. I made some modifications that allow single-touch activation of apps/tools but other than that she seems happy with Caty. She's a blue person, so it worked in my favor.
It seems odd that someone who has had no experience with smartphones minus playing with someone's iPhone and hating it would want to jump head-long into the ROM world but she's seen the difference it made in my phone. ICS on my Atrix is great, and I am hoping that one day you guys get it running on the Infuse, it seems like a good phone and you folks seem like an intelligent bunch.
Zeus (gb rom).
Plus:
Bluetooth and wifi are working good. Good battery. GPS is good.
Minus (common to ALL gb roms):
HDMI out does not work

Which ROM should I use with my TB?

So I've been out of the whole ROM scene for a while now, I have CM7 on my TB still and it sucks pretty hard, and I'm looking to install a new rom. I mostly tether, text, and sometimes talk on the phone. I'm not that big on apps except like sports center, twitter, and facebook...usuallly don't play games. Any suggestions on where to start?
There isn't much to complain about in regards to CM7, as we don't have a whole lot of new development. Slayher's CM7 build is still my favorite T-Bolt rom in terms of speed and stability. I run a 1.6ghz OC and it's pretty snappy. Thundershed is a very popular ROM right now and is based off of the CM7.2 codebase with an ICS theme, so I would certainly check it out if you are looking for something that feels different. You'll probably want to look into various roms on your own as it's honestly opinionated with a few exceptions.
Team Liquid is also working on an ICS rom that has working Phone and SMS, but data isn't working yet(they are coding the RIL from scratch). I would keep my eye on it as the rom will probably become ready for daily use in the near future. As soon as data works, I'll probably switch over from CM7 unless there are other issues that arise with the rom.
I used to suggest to users any rom by ThunderStick, but he was a complete dbag recently on his rom thread when questioned on one of the issues the rom had. I guess because he moved to a nexus he stopped caring about the TB. I would check out the rom list (thunderbolt development forum) and go through each one. BAMF has always been high on peoples list.

Come on, you asked a question that any amount of thought or common sense should have answered for you, thunderstick and others gave you appropriate responses. Back on topic though, skyraider is great. Thundershed, jellyblur, and sfkcm7 are awesome AOSP roms and worth a look too. There's also a bunch of solid desensed roms out there. It's best to flash some roms and get to know your own tastes that way. After all, only you know what your ideal rom is.

All of them.
Signature.
If you're looking for something different, Vicious and SPJester's MIUI rom works very nicely. It's easy to customize using the built in MIUI system. Everything but MMS works I believe, but the way the rom is set up is a bit strange (as there is no app drawer, sort of like IOS). Still, very solid and, having tried pretty much every tbolt rom out there, this is the one I always come back to.
Using JellyBlur v1.3 and having 0 problems so far. Been running it for awhile now without any problems and love it. Thinking about putting it on my husband's Thunderbolt as Skyraider Zues is giving him some problems.
Agreed Jellyblur 1.3 CM7.2 Rocks!

I'm with you, personally Jellyblur 1.3 has been the best running, slickest rom I've used. I've tried Bamf, and quite a few other roms out there. This for me is going to be my daily. I'm hoping we can get ICS (but not counting on it, and the only reason I want it is so the devs can grab the RIL and do something awesome with it).
Rem.
I love ODJDUB HD express. It's fast really nice and I get great battery life.

Liquid ICS Jmod! A few people's efforts got 1x working and ICS feels soooooo good
Jellyblur V1.3-CM7 y SPJester
I recently went through most of the recommended ROMs (after unrooting to get the OTA radio update, doing a clean wipe, then re-rooting) and I have landed on Jellyblur V1.3-CM7 y SPJester which seems to be the slickest and best-running I've seen so far. Battery life is good, audio, SMS/MMS, data, and phone work. It is thankfully De-Sensed and instead uses the Go Launcher.

[Q] ROM Suggestions Galaxy S3 Verizon

I have just switched over from an iPhone 5 to a Galaxy S3 and I am wondering what ROM I should go with. I have tried AOKP and CyanogenMod and I wasn't a huge fan. I am looking for a ROM where all of the radios work and it is on Jelly Bean.
The problem I had with AOKP is the bluetooth was spotty and I use that to play music in my car. The wifi wouldn't give me a chance to connect to networks where you have to accept the user agreement.
Any Suggestions?

I have tried 2 Touch wiz ROMs Synergy and CleanRom.. both are good. CleanRom seemed a little faster but synergy had more customization options.
But I am on the Official AOKP rom and it really smooth and fast. I have also tried Liquids, Slims, and baked. all of them are good to it really is a matter of what you are looking for. If you have Titanium backup you can be up and running on a new ROM in a few minutes... I am a flashaholic.
In my opinion I will be sticking with the Original Android Roms.

Roms run differently on everyone's phone.
It's your job to read through the threads and figure out which one you think is best for you.

I'll give a vote for CleanROM and Synergy. There has been a lot of work on Synergy the past month, and the latest builds are smooth and have fantastic battery life.
Cyanogenmod is a slick operating system. It's aesthetically beautiful and provides options that users have wanted from original ROM developers, not custom ROMs.

Should I update?

I am currently on Cyanogenmod 9, and I am hearing great progress in Cyanogenmod 10 and 10.1 and also the SlimBean 4.2.2. Should I update to these or wait? What is the difference between slimbean and cm? Cm10 or Cm10.1?
4.1 is has pretty much the same stability as ICS. GPS doesn't work though (the GPS on his device is crap so it doesn't really make a difference). WiFi doesn't work on 4.2, so if you're itching the flash a new ROM id go with the pacman ROM which is 4.1.
Slimbean has more customization options than cm.There really isn't even much of a difference between 4.1 and 4.2, I think there's only lock screen widgets, different notification toggles and offline Google now so you're not really missing out
I'd probably wait as those are all Jellybean based but most still have issues whereas CM9 is pretty stable.
CM10 is Jellybean 4.1.2, most things works but still a bit buggy. Probably not a lot more DEV on this as 10.1 should be the new goal.
CM10.1 is Jellybean 4.2.2, a lot less stuff works but getting there.
Slimbean are just a variation of the above, just slimmed down. They take out all the garbage they can to make it run the best and give us the most space. There is a slimbean 4.1.2 and 4.2.2, both have roughly the same problems as the above ones do.
They're getting closer to getting them working though.

I don't care much for the GPS, it's just that they say that 4G reboots so you have to be on 2G speeds, and 2G is very slow. WiFi doesn't work either. So this makes the phone very internet-less.

Seems like you do care but whatever ultragen is still the fastest out atm and for all those features your talking about i have no clue because ultragen is pretty basic when you compare it to other roms. I just said I don't care for theme, and how do you know this ROM is the "fastest"?
Easily is the fastest and i know this from personal experience flashing every ROM xda has for this phone. Everyone cares about themes unless you like stock cm9 which is still a theme that can be applied to ultragen so it looking like sg 3 means nothing. Ultragen also can have one of the best battery lifes if you prefer that over performance.

[Q] good stable Rom?

i just got my blaze back from being broken and theres alot of new roms out and they all look good. but i want to know some of yalls set ups. whats some good stable roms ?? please let me know and thank you
i rooted mine, and within 5 minutes had cyanogenmod on it. i'm a sucker for some cyanogen.
so far it's very fast, very stable. haven't had an issue yet.
replaced the stock camera with ICS camera and ICS gallery. a little slower, but no sdcard issues.
this morning i had bluetooth streaming to my helmet, wifi downloading maps, and txt messsages all blazing through it. really is a nice phone. and cheap too !

After finally mustering the courage to root I flashed CM10, and it was seamless, man. Aside from the occasional force close it was absolutely perfect. I just flashed LiquidSmooth and so far its running fairly well (keeping a backup of CM10 just in case ) It seems to me Liquid has more options for customization and has some pretty useful tools built into the ROM instead of going third party, but it just doesn't feel like it runs quite as smooth. Customization and tools, or a seamless UI, that is the question.
