ok I have look on google and found nothing that is this easy to do so here we go.
This is for the Verizon Samsung Stratosphere SCH-I405 with android 2.3.6 the latest and most likely the last OTA Update on it
Stuff to downlaod
1. Root Checker app
2. BusyBox installer app
3. ES File Explorer app
4. Framaroot V1.6.0 app from HERE
Install instructions
install all apps
open framaroot and root device then reboot
open busy Box and install it with the oldest version V1.14.3
click on superuser app and update the binary.
thats it you now have a rooted Samsung Stratosphere
Heres my video for more info Stratoshpere Root
All credit goes to the Developer of framaroot for a awesome app thanks
didn't work for me
This sequence didn't work on my phone and I followed all your instructions to the letter in your video. It failed to 'clear' that last little red tagged piece; none of the BusyBox versions would install. Do you have any additional advice? I don't know enough about rooting and there seem to be many directions that are much more complex and involve downloading and pushing a number of things to the phone via usb, and I would rather not spend hours trying to figure this out and worry that it won't work.
Thanks for any help!

Just wanted to chime in, and tell you that this worked for me. Although I watched the video, and the extra USB Debugging step was not required for my Stratosphere.
Thanks a lot!

how an i supposed to install it plus i can root with framaroot but i have to restart phone an because of verizons setup wizard i have to bhypass that screen to get into phone an when i do it says im not rooted how to oem unlock this thing
This method requires you to manually push the update to your phone via ADB commands. I refined the instructions from the XDA thread for Kitkat to be a little more noob friendly.
Requirements:
You must be on STOCK LG G2 firmware.
You must be on software version D80020Y to do this.
You must be rooted with no custom recovery or system mods.
1. Download the Android L update: http://www.mediafire.com/download/it5zg86xpg6v6h7/fota.zip
- Place dlpkgfile onto root of sdcard.
- Use ES File Explorer complete the next step. Under "Tools" make sure "Root Explorer" and "Show hidden files" are turned on.
2. Move the dlpkgfile into /cache/fota/
3. If /cache/recovery folder does not exist, create it.
4. On ADB run:
adb shell
su
chmod 777 /cache/recovery/
chmod 666 /cache/fota/dlpkgfile
echo "--update_package=/cache/fota/dlpkgfile" > /cache/recovery/command
am start -n com.lge.lgfota.permission/com.lge.lgfota.permission.DmcEzUpdateStart
5. You're done! The phone will restart and install the update.

Unfortunately it's not always this simple. Some of us are seeing the "Err:0x1111004" error and it stops updating. Reboots into previous firmware just fine, but no update.
Suppose I'll wait until there's a tot file.

its really meant to be that simple. if u rooted with ioroot, u may get this error. use the turorial using the tot method to go back to 4.4.2 and do this adb push method again after u root with towelroot or stumproot and u would be fine. trust me
I did use towelroot.
I wonder, I have a number of services turned off using 3C. You recon that would cause it?
Anyway, you're right, easiest would be just to tot it back and do again. ugh.
EDIT: Finally got it updated. I commented over here what I ended up doing.
Except I lost root. Crap.
I keep getting the error. I've used ioroot and towel root and the result is the same. Isn't there a way to upgrade without root access?
Will this keep root on lollipop? If not is there a way to root lollipop yet?
I'll try it after 12 hours and tell you what results I get. I have rooted with stumproot. And tell me that is there any way to keep root after upgrading.
Sent from my LG-D800 using XDA Free mobile app
Truth is I dont really care about root, that can always happen later. I just want Lollipop. I'll figure out root later.
I am also getting the error Err:0x1111004 when i try to do the update.
I rooted with ioroot, I rooted with towel root, I rooted with Stump Root.
still getting errors. I'm on 20u
What am i not doing???
Can i do this in the command prompt? I have tried everything. I have android sdk installed with the java sdk. drivers installed, etc...
When I put in a command, I get this error. "is not recognized as an internal or external command"
Please halp
I updated to 5.0.2 Stock.
And guess what I still have root access.
What was my Procedure:
1. Flashed stock 20c TOT
2. Rooted with Stump Root
2. Upgraded Ota 20c to 20y
(Root access was still there)
3. Upgraded Ota 20y to 30f
(Root access was still there)
So good news we still have root access.

What network are you on and where did you obtain the 20c file
For the 20c tot, you have to look around and find because the links I had for it are down now and I had the 20c file in my desktop. And for the manual ota update 20c to 20y here you go.

I manually upgraded OTA.

I was on Simple ROM 5.0.1/Grola ROM. So went to 20c, then 20y then ran this. Now I am running on Lollipop. Thanks a lot! I am also rooted and about to install Autorec.
Instructions worked like a charm. Thx OP

Is the hotspot working, and if so, what method did you use to enable?

Use This Method+My method.
Settings.db will not open in SQLITE EDITOR directly so move the file from root to sdcard and then edit as per guide. Then again place in the same place and restarted instantly. And Done...
Exact File Location is "\data\data\com.android.prodivers.settings\database\settings.db"
Copy it in anywhere in "\SDCARD" using ES File Explorer after enabling root access from tools in ES.
Use LG One Click Root for Rooting Lollipop.

Did you root using Unikernel?
Greetings, My S8 used to have a custom rom installed with root, but i went back to stock rom yesterday using Odin but now when i try to log into my S-Health it says my phone is rooted! I've downloaded root checker and it said my phone "isn't properly rooted". i don't know what to do, i don't want to root the phone again but i need to get the s-health working again. I've also read some posts here and some people have tried installing an old version of s-health which i tried but it didn't work for me as well
please help
thanks in advance
Root your phone with Magisk then use es file explorer and go to /system folder then open build prop with es file editor and change ro.congif.tima value to 0 then restart your phone. If shealth works unroot Magisk and enjoy!
