Looking to buy a used smartphone for around $100 or €75 (I'm based in the US). Need suggestions for a good phone at that price range. Preferably an Android with good development scene to install custom roms on it. Thanks! Appreciate your suggestions and advice.

This is a QUESTION, so please put in in the Q&A Forum. If you had tried that you would probably have seen a sticky called **DEVICE SUGGESTION THREAD** -- Not sure what device to buy? Ask here! where this should actually be.

GS3 is nice unless you can not get LTE. Otherwise, I would go with the Nexus

Newcomer here! A few questions and an introduction.

Hey Galaxy Tab 2 Team!
I'm going out to purchase a Galaxy Tab 2 7" tomorrow, and just wanted to stop by to say hi
I've been on the Optimus 2X forum since the forum was created, and just wanted to say that I'm looking forward to communicating with this community also!
Any tips for best ROM etc.? I see a lot of names I haven't seen before since I'm only used to the AOSP/AOKP/CM based ROMs.
I'll be using the tablet mainly for the purpose of reading PDFs (for school), how are you guys experience with this tablet for the purpose?
And for finals, I'll get the tablet for 160 USD, is this a fine price?
Looking forward to you guys!
Kind Regards
Neefy
Welcome Neefy. Haven't been here too long myself, and this community is pretty good. Plenty of helpful people here, and a nice international community. On roms, it depends on what you like. We have a lot of great flavors here that you find elsewhere. Cm, aokp, paranoid, and some custom Samsung stock. Update to jellybean, then use cf autoroot. Test out stock because it is pretty snappy. The price is pretty good. It beats the Christmas sale price I got. All in all, it has made me a fan of Samsung. Good luck....

Tab2.7 with Sugsonic HD
Hi
I run this tab with Sugsonic HD and it's great.
I mainly bought it to use on the London tube and it serves me quite well, especially when it's cramped and newspapers are akward to read.
I download the newspapers to read offline.
Ideally I'd prefer a 10" to use indoors and this is on my wish list.

As with everyone, i say try them all out... ROM choice will always be about personal preference. I like the aokp variety, but i use the ir blaster frequently and it doesn't work on non stock (....yet). Welcome, and good luck!

[Completed] Nexus one, need rooted.

Hey guys I'm new here. I got a nexus one running gingerbread. Always loved the phone. But don't have much memory and can't download many apps. The most I use is 8 to 10 apps at most. Can somebody help me or give me some encouragement. I want to be able to use the phone. I'm starting kind of a collection of my favorite phones through the years. This is my number one favorite. I use only unlocked phones and currently use T-Mobile prepaid plan with 80 dollar unlimited. I hear its pretty easy to root. But I'm just learning about root, jailbreak, flash , etc. Thanks for any help. Rick

Recommend phone for learning

Hello,
I finally got a z3 compact and don't want to brick it. I'm way new to this (read: virgin). I read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2920630 but that was a year ago and didn't tell me much anyway. I'm just looking for a good phone to learn/experiment on - I know there are many but if someone has any particular recommendations or could steer me towards a few that are more suitable, that'd be great. Also, if I should post this in any other forums or sites?
Thanks for any advice you can offer...

I'd recommend a Nexus 4. You can get one for very cheap these days, but it's still a competent device; nearly 3 years old but with hardware that outperforms the "budget" devices that cost more. There's a massive amounts of development, and it's practically impossible to brick. You might want to get a new battery for it though. It's not terribly difficult, but it does take some tools, patience, and confidence. A Nexus 5 would obviously be the better device, but it'll cost more.

Echoe ROM?

Hey,
I just got a new S7 (930F), and I'm looking for a good stable MM ROM to flash (don't want nougat until xposed works on it)
Some pple recommended me "Echoe ROM", but u have to pay 10€ on their website to get acces to it.. So it this ROM worth the money? Or is there another ROM that is better?
Don't pay for ROMs, ROMs are free
Check out the development threads, choose one from there

No.
Don't pay them money!
These devs are completely dubious.
I think they are the only devs who actually stipulate you to pay them in advance!
I mean, you didn't even test their rom but you have to buy a premium account first?!
I mean, if you like the rom you can donate them devs some money like everything else on xda do but not in advance tho!
And also, they are hating against xda community, just look on their website.
Go for a ROM like superman when you want one!
I don't think we should be discussing a rom that isn't on xda and I certainly don't think we should be discussing a rom you have to purchase, that goes against everything xda stands for.
I'm going to close this one up before it turns into a troll fest
