Minix Neo X5 Mini 4.2.2 root how to? - Android Stick & Console Computers General

Hi,
I have Minix Neo X5 mini with android version 4.2.2.
There is pre rooted custom rom around internet for now. I tried to root it by myself and saw that it already has root access. But it is not proper. So when i check with root checker so on, it says it is not rooted.
So professionals;
What is missing on my device? I already installed supersu with adb. And tried to install busybox from store but bussybox did not worked at all.
I believe that i don't know some easy details for you. But not easy for me

it's ok
i finally root my device. If someone need the needen files attached. Please follow instructions on bat file.
Select "Connect PC" after all reboots on device.
Device has to be connected as mass storage. USB Development has to be selected. And connect pc via usb. Select "Connect USB" on the device. Run TPSparkyRoot.bat file. Follow instructions.

Did you had Moborobo app installed in your PC? After every reboot i had to go to Settings > USB > Connect to PC.
PS: I dont know how is supposed to work that bat file, since it try to change SuperSU permissions without first copying it. So i add it (bold):
echo --- Installing SuperSU
adb push SuperSU.apk /system/app/SuperSU.apk
adb shell chown root.root /system/app/SuperSU.apk
I hope it work for you.

@tezouro
Hi,
I did it few hours later my own mex , but thanks anyway

Thanks! but could please let me know what we can do extra in minix5 other than getting su access?

It worked
The bat solution worked on my minix, but i had to install moborobo first, and then everytime the minix was rebooting because of the script steps, going to the minix menu and activating the connect pc option again before clicking space bar for the next step.

How to change official default setting app to the setting app

I give up. Click on the recovery howto in my signature and flash custom recovery. After that, flash a rooted ROM. If you dislike this advice, then kindly search harder. People generally get irritated when then are answering the same questions 10 times a day because people are too lazy.
superoneclick (gingerbreak exploit) work for me on stock V20c, check this thread:

Hi guys, regarding the problem about rooting the original GB, it can be done, and it's not that complicated.
First of all there are a couple of things that you have to consider before starting to root.
1. Be sure that you have installed the original V20G GB ROM.
2. if you have it installed and tried different methods to root on it do a factory reset before trying this one.
3. Be absolutely sure that you have all the drives installed when working with the phone in USB debugging mode, if not install them.
4. Download SuperOneClickv1.9.5-ShortFuse, after download extract the files into a folder with the same name as the archive.
5. After you extracted the files, go to C:\Windows\System32 and copy the cmd.exe to the folder where you extracted the files, in my case C:\Users\myuser\Desktop\SuperOneClickv1.9.5-ShortFuse\ADB.
6. Connect the phone to the PC with Debugging mode (Enter the phone settings menu, to the Development and tick the USB debugging mode)
7. right click on cmd.exe from the ADB folder, Run as administrator, than write:
adb devices (after this command you should see your device id)
adb shell
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf,
Do not close the window, live it like that.
8. Start SuperOneClick.exe, leave the settings to the SuperOneClick as they are when it opens, click on ROOT and wait, it will say Starting ADB server..., than it will do it's job and than it will appear Waiting for device... it will say ok and that if it freezes while running psneuter do the following:
a. Turn USB Debugging OFF wait until it will appear in the window again Starting ADB server..., after that,
b. Turn USB Debugging ON, and after this trick it will start rooting.
This is the method that i did twice and it worked like a charm.
After this it will ask you to reboot the phone, DO NOT FORGET, and after the reboot click on the SuperUser icon in the phone's menu. it will aks you if you allow or deny it's access. click allow. After this you must connect to the internet via Wireless or a apn, click on the superuser icon again if you exit it, go to settings, scroll down and you will see Su Binary v.XXXX, click on that to update it, than go to market and search the super user app and update it. Also update busybox. After this you have root access and you can install a custom recovery. Also you can install your preferred Kernel if you don't like the stock one.
If you do not get the Allow Deny message the root was not completed successfully. do a factory reset and try again the same steps.
see images attached as proof.
Well, I installed V20 C via doktornotor method but couldn root it by flashing the signed su binary via recovery.
So I tried the above mentioned method and it worked. But every time the Superuser Force closes and its too buggy.. Any solutions. ?
Yes, same here, i tried doktornotor's method both 20C and 20G and didnt work, this Super1click works but su force closes everytime Any ideeas??
====================EDIT============================
I managed to root gingerbread with doktornotor's method V20g
Just use his image, BUT dont use su-2.3.6.3-cd-signed.zip
Download from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110733 su-2.3.6.2-efgh-signed.zip and install it wia clockworkmod recovery zip installer and works like a charm
omfg! plz make Zroot for 2.3.3

Should I type the comma at the end on cmd? Can you please explain what exactly the above command does? Does it create the above file on the above filepath on device? If I typed both
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf
and
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf,
should I erase one of these files?
Without comma.

USB OTG control problem
I've updated the firmware successfully.
But now I have a new issue with the USB OTG. I cannot use the USB OTG control to change from host mode to device mode. Everytime I try to go and click on USB OTG control, it throws error "the application USB OTG (com....) has stopped unexpectedly". Ive tried to reset to factory defaults...but now seems the problem is still stuck there. I cannot go into ADB to do the rooting without enabling the 'device' mode connection for the USB. pl help.
Ive googled but none of the solutions seem to be working.

USB problem
hi all
I.ve updated with the file from the above post and noe I have the same problem with the usb
force close - no way to connect to PC
please help
You can try this method to root, it is for another similar vimicro device:
Q: How to root the Haipad M8?
A: You need the GingerBreak and some manual work.
You need to have an installed Android SDK with adb.exe or take this archive with adb.exe only. And you need to have a modified USB driver.
Connect the Haipad M8 to the PC (USB OTG). You will have to install modified USB driver if it is needed.
"USB debugging mode" must be enabled in the device.
Run the cmd.exe and go to a directory where the adb.exe is located (for example: cd d:\adb)
Run command:
Code:
adb root
adb shell
must be # in the prompt (root mode)
Code:
cd /bin
check a symlink su
Code:
ls -l --color=never su
"su -> busybox" is not right. Delete the symlink su
Code:
rm ./su
Install the Gingerbreak and root device.
Install the RootCheker and check the root.

Can you try to install the attached package and see how it goes. Just confirm you want to replace the existing version. It worked for me.

Tassos, can you please describe the steps you followed ?
Also verify or better upload the appropriate files to an upload server like rapidshare.
1) I changed the usb connection to debugging mode from settings of my tablet [AT300SE-101]
2) I installed the toshiba's WinUsb Driver [successfully installed]
3) I executed the motochopper's script run.bat and responded as this
deamon not running.starting it now on port 5037 *
deamon started successfully
stays here and nothing more !!

Did you try using ADB Wifi? I've been able to do stuff with ADB wifi before. Not sure if this will work or not...but it's something worth trying..

If you get this message and stack, then the adb driver is not installed correctly.
Connect the tablet to the computer.
Go to device manager, find an unknown device, right click and select update driver, select browse the computer for the driver and guide it to the folder you placed the adb driver.
When the unknown device mark is gone, you are ready to try again.
Use the following Motochopper http://mirror21.downloadandroidrom.com/download/GalaxyS4/root/motochopper.zip?token=
I dont know whats the problem.... but dont work

Hi
I already did this and win7 recognise the device as android Device --> Android ADB Interface. It says that this device works just fine.
Model Number AT300SE
Android version 4.1.1
Kernel version 3.1.10-00037-g59264fc
Build number JRO03C.000122808.95
Despite of that, in my computer device list i dont see anything only in the device manager as described before.
PS:How to work with ADB wifi ?
Sent from my AT300SE using xda app-developers app

Γεια σου πατρίδα!
Thessaloniki city.
So I decided to resurrect this old tablet and turn it into a digital photo-frame. Decided just to reset it to factory settings. Easily done. I noticed there were no firmware updates. It is stuck on Jellybean. That can't be right, surely. A tablet that doesn't update to at least one new Android update!!

hello,
you can push and pull by adb command, to transfer files i believe you need root permission.

Hello,
no need for root.
do on PC:
1) install adb driver: http://adbdriver.com/downloads/
2) install adb tool: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sm...tool-android-wear-apk-tools-sideload-t2929177
Make sure adb tool is in same folder as adb (c:\adb\ )
Do on watch
3) preferences >> system >> info >> build number - press 10x to enable developer options
4) developer options >> enable ADB debugging
Now connect the watch to the PC and start the tool. It should be able to connect to the watch and you can install apk's with the tool.
Unfortunately it doesnt work for all apps, just try out.
I installed: simple radio, rpi automation, volume manager, floating toucher.
Hope it helps
regards
reiko
and where are the apk`s for the huawei watch 2
Which apk's do you mean?
You can install any apk...no dedicated huawei watch 2 ones.
The adb tool let you select the apk from any location/folder.
Just try it.
Does this answer your question?
Thanks!
Where do I get the ADB tool from? Do I need to download the full android studio? Do I then need to put the adb.exe into c:\adb\? I've used this tool: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42407269#post42407269 and put the adb.exe under c:\adb\, but it doesn't work.. The command adb doesn't work btw.
Thanks again!
Hello,
no need for android studio.
downloads tool + adb driver -> see my post "do on PC".
Obviously my adb driver must already on the watch ...so I did what you referred - but when I click connect to the watch nnothing happens - on the other side the PC is showing LEO ...the watch ....
Ok now I copied the adb driver in c:/adb but still the same result: watch is connected but the apk tool says you must first connect the watch ....
Pls see attached the log file

nothing to complain about the tool, but if is just to install apk, adb install is really very easy. if you need to delete apk, you can do directly by watch....

those apks you have installed -any good for this watch?
---------- Post added at 06:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:52 PM ----------
looking for some ideas for programs to install -that can run as standalone programs as i'm using as LTE device at moment
This worked for me.
Ok....new to the smartwatch ROM flashing scene...NOOB alert...lol. How exactly do you 'connect' your smartwatch to a PC? USB cable from charge base to PC and the watch just sits on the wireless stand? That's it?
I'm not rooted, can use adb Wi-Fi though, to even sideload apk files which I have.
For ordinary file transfer, installing the app NavExplorer on both the watch and phone makes file transfer easy. If I remember, long press on files on watch for command options.
