try to disable such email, gmail, chaton, talk or any default application that uses internet
you can disable them by looking at settings/application then select all tab. open the application you wnat to disable then press disable. it wont open again even if you restart your phone.

Activated google+ picture uploads maybe?
I wondered too why downloading on 3G was faster than with wifi, forgot that my pictures had been uploaded in the background during wifi-connection

I had to wipe data of everything related to Google play

Android constant data traffic

Hi.
I recently bought Xperia X10.
Yesterday i downloaded a network monitor from market and in the morning i had 12Mb traffic
Today i disabled google sync, facebook and twitter updates, removed the weather widget from screen and i still see constant traffic.
Coming from Nokia 5800 XM, i had always a warning every time an app tried to connect to internet.
Android has something like this?
Or a way to see which app is connecting to internet?
X10 is not rooted yet so, i can't use any (iptables based... if something like this exists) firewall ...
Thanks
Install APNdroid from the Market. That should solve the problem.

It won't.
The idea is to have access to the internet but i want to know which apps are accessing the internet and allow/deny them.
I don't want to block all the traffic
I use apndroid too. Because there is not actually a app with can deny the dataconnection for apps.
I know you problem. But i have set the config, when i activate the connection my apps (mail) will automticaly update.
In HTC Sense there's a widget to turn data trafic on/off

Where is this widget that you are talking about to turn on and off only data?? cant find it on my HTC Desire.
turning off all data DOESN'T help because will stop all the updates and sync.

which stats-counter are you using?
It's the same on my SGS2.
I'm using Call Meter 3G (beta) and after every reboot I have 12MB more on my stats.
Now I don't know if this traffic was really a download-traffic or CM3G just count 12MB + on every reboot because of a bug???
Did you test another stats-counter?
I've also tried to disable as much as possible with autostarts to fix this but I couldn't.
But the stange thing is if I reboot in the flight-mode (so you dont't have to enter a pin) it's the same --> so I guss it's a bug?
Any solution or ideas??

Edit:
I tested Call Meter 3G (beta) and DroidStats together and it seems like CM3G is buggy because DS don't add 12MB + after a reboot.
So let's hope the developer will fix it...
Another thing you could do is to compare that app's reported stats to the stats you get from your carrier (One place you can find the carriers stats is in the carrier web site).

Need help deleting albums from Gallery!!!

So I have a few weird albums in my Gallery app. I have one that says Mike-PC and has nothing in it. I also have a directv2pc album that popped up after I downloaded the Directv app. I have deleted the Directv app and it's still there. I also went into the applications-gallery and cleared cache but those two folders are still there.
If I turn my Wifi off they disappear though, weird!!!
Any suggestions on how to get rid of them?? It's driving me friggin nuts!!!
Thanks
The computer you have called Mike-pc is set up to share files over a network like a media server. Under the network connection setting on that pc you need to turn this off. (I have a computer set up to do this) The phone and pc are connected via your home network that is why when you turn WiFi off the album is gone.
As for the one associated with the app I'm am not sure because I don't have it. I would assume there is possibly some setting you can change. Otherwise I'm not sure.

the directv2pc is also a media server that is being broadcast by your Directv DVR which is also connected to your home network. Both are network devices that your phone sees on your home wireless network
Thanks for the responses. Ill look on my PC to change those settings. I did look on my directv settings and didn't see anything.
Its not a huge deal but just annoying when I look at pics.
I've never had this happen with any other of my phones which is why it stumped me.

[Q] MMS stuck on downloading but never downloads until a reboot

Didn't find anything helpful in the searches so...
Sometimes when getting a bunch of group texts or any MMS in a spotty data signal area one or two messages will never come through. On GoSMS there is no button to press to download and on the stock app it shows downloading with the animated bar but it never downloads. Rebooting the phone will seemingly reset the download and the button to press to download it will then appear. I prefer to not lose 5% battery from the media scan on a reboot just so I can get a group text or an MMS picture. So is there any other way around it other than rebooting?

I had that problem with the stock app. In the Messenger settings I turned off auto retrieve. I then get a download button and it works. For whatever reason with auto retrieve on it never downloads. Don't know if that's the same issue.
That will typically work, but then requires me to go in and click the download button every time. When you're in a group text that means backing out of it and opening up the individual's message thread every time someone replies to click download. Not really a good solution either. I'd say 95% of the time the messages download on auto for me. Any other ideas?
On most ROMS, you need to have Wifi off and 4g/3g on to download. That's why I don't use auto retrieve, so I can turn Wifi off and data on before I download

Ah that makes a lot of sense now. I am probably on WiFi most of my day so explains why auto retrieve never worked for me.
Thanks
I'm the opposite. About the only time I ever have Wi-Fi on is when I'm in Canada. I still have unlimited data on and 4G is much faster than my regular internet at home.

Mms over wifi is flaky on some roms from my experience. Works fine for me on roms that stay closer to stock. You shouldn't have to disable wifi to receive or send mms messages if things are working properly.

So no one knows a way to reset the download without restarting the phone?

Use a task killer (I know they suck, but just use it for this one thing) to kill the process and it should reset the download

I tried that via rom toolbox and it didn't seem to have any effect. Maybe I killed the wrong process though. Which is it for an mms download?

Newbie and I swear I'm hacked

I have had this phone fur a year and I know I'm hacked. Apps open by themselves and I always have high data usage. I took a few screen shots that I thought might be helpful? Haha please help!!!!
I highly doubt you're hacked. I see you have the Facebook app installed; that's known to drain your battery. Have you gone into its settings to make sure it's not set to auto-refresh at high intervals? I think the default is every 15 minutes. What about Google+? Is it set to automatically upload your photos and videos? And finally, I see you're on Sprint, which has LTE almost nowhere. Is your LTE set to on?
Bro.. why not try a full wipe 'coz if your phone is infected your privacy is exposed lol
Facebook app is installed yet auto sync is disabled. I keep having apps download on their own yet I disabled auto update. Not to mention my location services are jacked up

Are you using Google Now? That's known to destroy battery life by at least 30% (its been tested). Turn that off. It keeps your location services running 24/7.
Worst case, I'm not sure if your device is rooted or not (it doesn't matter), but try and wipe it and "start over" if you can. Make sure your contacts are synced with Google, and if your photos are on your internal storage, move them to your computer or your SD card. Then go into Settings -> Security -> Factory Reset.
Can u explain these?

It looks like logcat is logging signal strenght of your 3g, and your mail app is checking for new mails.
It might be your voicemail app... Unless you changed the icon that isn't stock TW. But yeah definitely just do a factory reset or Odin back to stock...

Three uk Throttling?

Have the recommended APN settings from three. Im back in the US, have service with plenty of bars and run the speed test app and get 3mbps down and 1mbps up. My pages load fast enough on my gs6 when browsing yet when I attempt to download any kind or file.. It slows to w hault. I can't steam music within Google music or any other apps...its like I'm getting fake Internet speeds. Then I try running speed test from chrome and get same 2.5-3mbps. Any ideas? Its like apps are being throttled. I have unlimited data and am at the beginning of my cycle with three, so there isn't an account issue on anything. Any APN settings to get around this or has anyone heard or had similar issues?/thx
