Hi, i have Team EOS rom on my tf101 and it has been working without any problem. But today it stuck on EOS logo when boots. I enter on cwm (version 5.0.2.8) and do a wipe (factory settings / cache / dalvik and format /system) and try to install the EOS rom again but it stucks on "Installing update..." I have tried several times with the same result. I tried KatKiss 4.2.2_225 from sdcard with the same result.
Any help thanks.

I would HIGHLY recommend updating to TWRP.
If you can flash from the microSD, grab a flashable zip file like 2.6.1.0 from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2434422
If not, you can push the TWRP zip file to the /sdcard/ using adb and flash that.
A last option is to use EasyFlasher to install it using APX mode. I have repacked easyflasher with newer recoveries here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43986513&postcount=250
In my experience, many users have had big issues (myself included) trying to use CWM and anything beyond Android 4.1.X ROMs on the TF101. TWRP has far fewer issues and it can flash from both internal and external storage.

So the best way to do it is using EasyFlasher right?
What option should i use: Flash or Unbrik, and what recovery system do i select, TWRP? Thanks.

I would use the TWRP 2.6.0.0 repacked EasyFlasher and then just install recovery (select the TWRP 2.2.0 from the dropdown and it WILL install 2.6.0.0).
I have a detailed guide here: http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...t/31927-frederuco-s-guide-root-rom-tf101.html
Hi Fred, thanks for you guides. I have following it and i have TWRP installed, i have booted in recovery mode and when i install EOS rom the progress bar remains stuck, move for 1 second , stuck again and move a bit again and i don't know if this is normal, how much time i have to wait....Any hint?
Thanks in advance
I forget it. When i did the wipe i get an "Unable to mount /system" Is this normal? May be i have not enough space for the update?

Hmmm....thats not good.
It could be that your internal storage has a personal issue. I would try using EasyFlasher to flash back to stock. Just download the update from Asus, put it in the "asusupdate" folder of EasyFlasher. Do not unzip the file at all.
Instead of installing TWRP, flash stock. See if that boots.
If it does, then flash TWRP again and see if you get the same system error.

Hello,
I flashed CWM on my tablet but it is encrypted. I need to decrypt it to be able to flash new ROMs. The problem is that I cant wipe it with CWM because of the encryption .
Where can I find the stock recovery for my WW B80 TF101 with stock ICS ?
I did find a US recovery for Honeycomb on the Unlockr, but I'm not sure if that would work.
I can't use NVFlash since it's SBKv2 either .
I'd appreciate any help I can get on this. Thanks for a great forum, I've had a lot of help here before with my old Windows Phones .

What version of CWM recovery do you have and how did you flash it?
The stock recovery from the unlocker.com need to be flash via CWM, since you say you can't use your CWM that's useless.
Have you tried installing a different CWM recovery?
Here you can find Roach's 3.2.0.1 and Team Rouge CWM recovery.
(both are install via RecoveryInstaller)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22359727&postcount=218
What do you mean by "encrypted"?
What are the errors you see when you try to wipe data on this device?
What is the CWM version you are using?
Perhaps someone will correct me, but a properly installed recovery does not care about data encryption to be able to format the partition (i.e. wipe). Stock recovery will not help in this. It will simply remove all the useful commands and interfaces and show a nice picture of a dead droid.
I can flash things trough CWM but CWM cant see the sdcard since its encrypted trough honeycomb/ics builtin encryption setting. If I find the right recovery I would be able to flash it . If I try to factory reset from settings it does absolutely nothing since it tries to boot into stock recovery . Factory reset from cwm does nothing since cwm cant touch the encrypted sdcard .
I've read that no CWM can touch the encrypted partition since it doesnt have the password. Only stock recovery can wipe an encrypted tablet. Other than my cwm cant wipe encrypted tablets it works fine for me. I can flash other roms but they are completely useless since they cant read my encrypted drive.
Does someone know if it matters if I use the US recovery for honeycomb? Or where I can find the recovery for tf101 ics ww.
Ps . Im sorry if this post seems like a mess, I'm really tired and my soft keyboard sucks.
your only choice in your case is if it's CWM 3.2.0.1 is to take your SD card out of your tablet use a card reader and FORMAT your Card FAT32 then save the roms you want to it then boot back in to CWM and it will see them after that
if you have the newer CWM with the Blue controls is Will not use the MicroSD CARD
is uses Onboard Memory and your going to need to some how get ADB to see it.
install android dev kit and send a few commands so CWM can see the microSD card. it's very much like fixing recovery bootloop.
i know your pain i own B50 (SBkv1) B70 & B80 (both SBKv2) and a prime
Did you try the team eos superwipe?
Also I think he is talking about the internal sd and not the micro.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
ok here is what i did for my boot loop i did to figure this one out with encryption on
only Do this IF you have ADB working
Get in to Recovery and Format your Partations Then reboot to recovery a 2nd time
and do a adb push i pushed (Team Rouge CWM Recovery) But in your Case
pushing TF101 Rooted Stock 9.2.1.17 + bootloader + modded recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552303
Might be best as it will fix and problems your having with recovery and switch it back to the MicroSD Card Slot for ROMS
after trying it i think i will Stick with TeamRouge Recovery
lots of guides around on how to setup ADB

What version of CWM do you have? If it's the 5.5.0.4 than it only read from the internal SD.

He means the internal mmc (the location of /data).
@rodstrom, if I understand you correctly, you are saying that once you encrypted your tablet (through an option in the security settings), you cannot wipe /data (or factory reset) through normal options in CWM or another recovery. You think that the only way to wipe data on an encrypted /data partition is through a stock recovery. Correct?
That sounds weird to me, but I have read similar comments in other places. If this is true, then the "encrypt tablet" option is a danger.
Have you tried to format /data using the CWM's "mounts and storage" menu? What was the result?
Have you tried what @Dreamboxuser suggested: the superwipe?
Can you try to format using adb commandline while in CWM?
feisty_noodle exactly!
I can't wipe from settings since it tries to reboot into stock recovery . And I can't wipe from CWM since the eMMC is inaccessible because of the encryption .
From CWMs "Mounts and storage" I am unable to format /data since it is inaccessible . It says something like that it cant read it...
I have not heard of the superwipe, but I'll have to google it. I haven't tried formatting through adb yet, but I'm not sure if that would help.
I'm pretty convinced that I need the stock recovery to wipe the eMMC .

OK, I misunderstood.
@rodstrom
The SuperWipe can be found in Revolution ROM thread.
Becareful using it, if you have a CWM version that read internal only such as 5.5.0.4, it will wipe all you files. I suggest using Roach's 3.2.0.1 or Team Rouge recovery if you're going to use SuperWipe script.
I had the Team Rouge recovery earlier. Although now I have 5.5 something and I can't do anything at all with it . How do I install Team Rouge again ? I tried the modded RecoveryInstaller but nothing happened , just a reboot .
Also I have to cold boot everytime it has turned off . I really need to change my recovery now , if not to stock then at least to something else than 5.5...
Bump,
I'm in trouble here, I have CWM 5.5.0.8 which can't read my external MicroSD, nor read my encrypted internal SD.
I can't flash anything now... What can I do? Is adb an option?
If I can't find my stock recovery I would at least like to have a useful recovery which can read my external MicroSD so I can do something at all.

This member was successful in mounting his external sd with adb shell
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24007127
Hi again!
I'm back and I have tried to follow the post you linked. The problem now is that I can't seem to connect with adb when the device is in recovery mode. Adb works perfectly when booted normally though.
To mount trough adb in recovery mode seems to be exactly what I need, so if I can get adb running in CWM I believe this would be solved.
Maybe another possibility could be to change the mounts in CWM's init.rc before I reboot to CWM, but I don't know if it is possible, or where that file would be. What do you think?
restore stock recovery
I have a rooted TF101 with stock ROM and cwm recovery. I would like to restore stock recovery and keep the other things as is so that I can do OTA when its available. After did may search, I finally found a way and restored stock recovery
successfylly. I would like to sharte my experience with you:
1. The stock recovery is "8239USrecovery.zip". The file name is kind of misleading, but it actaully is a universal
stock recovery for TF101. See "Asus Transformer EPIC NOOB GUIDE."(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494230)
2. The cwm 5504 as from market app "ROM MANAGER" has a "boot into recovery loop" bug. I changed to roach's cwm version
by
2.1 boot into cwm recovery and flash cwm_recovery-5504_roach-tf101-r2.zip.
2.2 cold boot, use terminal emulator to issue
su
echo boot | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=1 seek=0
2.3 reboot
3. boot into cwm recovery (roach's version), flash 8239USrecovery.zip and then reboot.
After reboot, cwm is gone.
I can't flash anything at all though, because of 5.5.0.4 only reading the internal sdcard which is encrypted.
If I could get adb working in CWM I could mount the external microsd and flash things again.
Is there any possibility to change CWM's mountpoints from within Android OS?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA
I've searched and found a few different solutions for each of my problems. However, nothing has resolved the issue.
I tried to flash CM 11.0 to my Galaxy Tab 2 (GT-P3110) and now I can't get anywhere but my CWM Recovery screen.
When I try to install the ROM, I get a "Status 7" error. I've attempted the steps found here but they have not worked.
So, I decided to just recovery what I had before - easy enough. But then when I attempt to recover, I get an error of "MD5 Mismatch".
I've looked up ways to resolve this issue, but I can't complete the steps for 2 reasons. Firstly, I can't get to my File Explorer because my tablet won't completely boot. Secondly, my laptop has stopped recognizing my tablet for some reason. So, I'm unable to edit the file from there.
Lastly, when I just try to reboot system, I get an error explaining that I "may" have lost root access. If I select to "fix" this, it does nothing - just reboots back to recovery. If I choose no, same thing.
I've cleared dalvik, cleared cache partition, cleared data/factory reset, and formatted system - nothing makes a difference.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Okay - easy enough.
If I'm unable to get to ROM Manager, is there a way to update my Recovery within Recovery Mode?
I've zipped the .img file for the update.
Should I just install the zip from Recovery Mode?
THANKS!

You couldn't have because it's right there on the first page. It's 2.6.3.2 instead of 2.6.3.1 but either one will work.

Can you open the TWRP 2.6.3.2 zip file on your PC before you copy it to your tablet? If you open it and get errors then the file might be corrupt, if it opens correctly then that's not the problem. Are you doing this in Windows? If you do get errors when trying to open the zip try downloading it again to a different place on Windows. I don't know how many times I have downloaded a zip file more than once and Windows always finds it corrupt. Then try opening it again. Let me know and we'll go from there.

Do you have an sdcard or are you putting in on internal card? First, try opening the zip file that you put on your tablet to make sure it's not corrupt. Then if it opens okay, put it on sdcard or vice versa from where you put it originally. So the version of TWRP you have now that's working is which version? And what error message are you getting when you try flashing the new TWRP?

I don't think it will unless you were to delete the backups from your internal card. To be safe, which is what I do, put a copy of your backups on your PC first. And make sure you keep the exact folder names or they won't restore. For instance if your backups are under "/TWRP/BACKUPS/015d46d9242bf407/name of back" make sure they are put back in those folders especially the 015d46d9242bf407 or whatever yours are named. In fact I was told to make a backup of the current 4.2 rom in TWRP 2.6.3.0 recovery, put on the new TWRP 2.6.3.2 recovery, boot back into 2.6.3.2 recovery, make another backup of your current 4.2 rom and then flash the new 4.4.2 rom. Always keep copies of your backups and recoveries on your PC.

I fastbooted the CWM recovery and once that loaded up I was able to load the TWRP 2.6.3.2 zip without a problem. Figured id try that just to make it easier to reload existing backups. First i tried the CM 11 Nightly which was fast but very buggy typing was almost impossible. I had to load the new nightly Omnirom and the Home made rom onto the sd card. Then i tried to load the nightly Omnirom which wouldn't load so i tried the Home made one. That loaded without a problem. Didn't get to play with it much but definitely much faster than the old 4.2.1. I Dont know why the Nightly one wouldn't load tried 2 different downloads with no luck. Do i need to download this file also (omni-4.4.2-20140312-tf300t-NIGHTLY.zip.md5sum)? But i finally have 4.4.2 so its a good start. :good:
I have a rooted (Superuser 3.1.3) TF101 with TWRP 2.7.0.1. I HAD Katkiss 4.3 installed. One day the tablet locked up and then starting bootlooping. I went into recovery, wiped everything, did factory reset, format /system.
Then I tried to reflash Katkiss 4.3_020, it failed with "set_perm: some changes failed". I then tried katkiss 4.4.2_023c - it failed with a similar error message. Tried flashing stock (US_epad-user-9.2.1.27) - same thing. The first part of the error message for all three ROMs is the same set_perm failure. The next couple of lines gives different error messages depending on the ROM. Generally something like: "E: error executing updater binary in zip".
Now I have a tablet with no ROM on it (when I tried to boot it hangs at the ASUS screen). I can get into the TWRP recovery menu just fine - I can flash other things like superuser or gapps without error. But any ROM I try to flash gives the set_perm error.
Any thoughts?
Chris
Try using Easyflasher to flash a different version of TWRP in case recovery is the problem, TWRP builds newer than 2.3.2.3 are not official builds, they have been continued by another member here once the project was abandoned by the original team

Use Easyflasher to flash TWRP again - then try flashing KatKiss #23
Thanks but...
Easyflasher doesn't seem to work for me anymore (odd because it is what I first used to root/update my TF101). It runs and declares success - but nothing gets pushed to my device. Tried both SBK1 and SBK2. Using universal naked 0.72 and 0.73 on win7 64 bit.
I tried to find an older version of TWRP like you suggested - but I couldn't. Seems they want you to use "goo manager" from the play store... which doesn't work for me since I can't boot... And the goo website doesn't list an older TWRP for my device.
In any case, the latest TWRP seems to work in every other respect. I read somewhere that superuser can set an "immutable" bit that can survive a wipe? If true - could that be my permissions problem?

I'm new as one can get at this and likely deserve any hammering I may get....TF1010 B70, CWM 5.8.3.4, I know I missed a step somewhere. I can't recover to 4.3 as the back up was bad, not recognized by any computer, loops to recovery and holding power and vol dn the booting to the linuz get me a long (14 hrs) flashing KatKiss boot screen.
I've tried Easyflasher aswell with no results, Please, any hope for this thing, Thanks in advance!
Sounds like your problem is a bit different - can you get into your bootloader? After voldown+power you should see some small text in the upper left of the screen then immediately hit vol up.... From there you should be able to reflash any ROM...

Thanks for your reply, when I do use that button combo, it goes into the ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.3.4, the native one seems to be gone.
Is that a bad thing? Once in ClockworkMod - you can install a new ROM (such as KatKiss or even go back to stock). Just find the right zip file on the web, copy to your sdcard and then in clockwork select that zip file to install.... Or am I missing something?

Ok - back to my problem - I installed a new recovery and get the same error. The two recoveries I have tried are TWRP (2.3 and 2.7.0.1) and cwm-6.0.2.1-notouch-hybrid. Both seem to work fine (and I had no trouble previously with my device running TWRP and Katkiss 4.3).
After a crash I needed to reinstall a ROM. I've copied four ROMs to my sdcard (Katkiss 4.3, Katkiss 4.4.2, Omni 4.4.2, and stock asus). I've tried all 4 ROMs with both recoveries. I get the same error when I try to install the zips. Usually it is "set_perm: some changes failed". Though stock asus zip fails with a different message "Assert failed: package_extract_file(“blob”, “/tmp/blob”)".
Any ideas on what is keeping a recovery from installing the zip? Note they can install other zips fine (i.e. other recoveries, superuser, gapps, etc.). But not the ROM.

No it's not, but I can't get anything onto the SD card, only the ext card and I CWM will not mount it to flash from. if I'm missing something and I sure I am, Im greatful for any help, and thanks again..
OK, I've done this many times to many devices, never had this happen before. Unlocked, rooted, TWRP installed, have tried two different ROMS, Slim and CM11, tried both direct download and from my PC then transferred, can't get a custom ROM to install, keeps erroring out while trying to install ROM from TWRP, even though I wipe System, Dalvik, and Cache. 'Error updating binary executor in zip'
thoughts?
EDIT: on twrp 2.5.0.0 - maybe need a newer version?
Tried 2.6.3.0 - it won't wipe dalvik, cache, or system? Actually, it cant see or mount any drives...
And CM Recovery has the same issue...?

If you are trying to install CM11, which is based on KitKat, looks like everyone says to use the Omni version of TWRP. Here's a link to that zip in my Dropbox. https://www.dropbox.com/s/cctivhx2kcpwnfz/TWRP-TF300T-2_7_0_1.zip. Install is different for it though. Put the zip file on a micro SD card or in the internal storage and then boot into whatever custom recovery you have working (I usually go back to stock and flash TWRP 2.4.0.0 or 2.4.4.0 whenever I run into problems. I found a great TWRP recovery installer someone made for Windows, here's that zip. https://www.dropbox.com/s/jut7sytp8n7c94u/recoverytf300t4.2.zip). Once in recovery, go to Install and flash the Omni version 2.7.0.1. After that finishes, reboot to system so that the Omni version can complete installation (you'll see the blue install bar, like what shows when you Fastboot install a recovery). Your tablet will reboot after that so I usually hold Volume Down when the display goes dark so that I can go into the new recovery. I've also recently found 2 "new" recoveries that work fairly with CM11, probably due to the fact that they are based on CM Recovery. I'll include the links for you. They both get installed via Fastboot. Hope this helps!
