Hello,
I flashed CWM on my tablet but it is encrypted. I need to decrypt it to be able to flash new ROMs. The problem is that I cant wipe it with CWM because of the encryption .
Where can I find the stock recovery for my WW B80 TF101 with stock ICS ?
I did find a US recovery for Honeycomb on the Unlockr, but I'm not sure if that would work.
I can't use NVFlash since it's SBKv2 either .
I'd appreciate any help I can get on this. Thanks for a great forum, I've had a lot of help here before with my old Windows Phones .

What version of CWM recovery do you have and how did you flash it?
The stock recovery from the unlocker.com need to be flash via CWM, since you say you can't use your CWM that's useless.
Have you tried installing a different CWM recovery?
Here you can find Roach's 3.2.0.1 and Team Rouge CWM recovery.
(both are install via RecoveryInstaller)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22359727&postcount=218
What do you mean by "encrypted"?
What are the errors you see when you try to wipe data on this device?
What is the CWM version you are using?
Perhaps someone will correct me, but a properly installed recovery does not care about data encryption to be able to format the partition (i.e. wipe). Stock recovery will not help in this. It will simply remove all the useful commands and interfaces and show a nice picture of a dead droid.
I can flash things trough CWM but CWM cant see the sdcard since its encrypted trough honeycomb/ics builtin encryption setting. If I find the right recovery I would be able to flash it . If I try to factory reset from settings it does absolutely nothing since it tries to boot into stock recovery . Factory reset from cwm does nothing since cwm cant touch the encrypted sdcard .
I've read that no CWM can touch the encrypted partition since it doesnt have the password. Only stock recovery can wipe an encrypted tablet. Other than my cwm cant wipe encrypted tablets it works fine for me. I can flash other roms but they are completely useless since they cant read my encrypted drive.
Does someone know if it matters if I use the US recovery for honeycomb? Or where I can find the recovery for tf101 ics ww.
Ps . Im sorry if this post seems like a mess, I'm really tired and my soft keyboard sucks.
your only choice in your case is if it's CWM 3.2.0.1 is to take your SD card out of your tablet use a card reader and FORMAT your Card FAT32 then save the roms you want to it then boot back in to CWM and it will see them after that
if you have the newer CWM with the Blue controls is Will not use the MicroSD CARD
is uses Onboard Memory and your going to need to some how get ADB to see it.
install android dev kit and send a few commands so CWM can see the microSD card. it's very much like fixing recovery bootloop.
i know your pain i own B50 (SBkv1) B70 & B80 (both SBKv2) and a prime
Did you try the team eos superwipe?
Also I think he is talking about the internal sd and not the micro.

ok here is what i did for my boot loop i did to figure this one out with encryption on
only Do this IF you have ADB working
Get in to Recovery and Format your Partations Then reboot to recovery a 2nd time
and do a adb push i pushed (Team Rouge CWM Recovery) But in your Case
pushing TF101 Rooted Stock 9.2.1.17 + bootloader + modded recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552303
Might be best as it will fix and problems your having with recovery and switch it back to the MicroSD Card Slot for ROMS
after trying it i think i will Stick with TeamRouge Recovery
lots of guides around on how to setup ADB

What version of CWM do you have? If it's the 5.5.0.4 than it only read from the internal SD.

He means the internal mmc (the location of /data).
@rodstrom, if I understand you correctly, you are saying that once you encrypted your tablet (through an option in the security settings), you cannot wipe /data (or factory reset) through normal options in CWM or another recovery. You think that the only way to wipe data on an encrypted /data partition is through a stock recovery. Correct?
That sounds weird to me, but I have read similar comments in other places. If this is true, then the "encrypt tablet" option is a danger.
Have you tried to format /data using the CWM's "mounts and storage" menu? What was the result?
Have you tried what @Dreamboxuser suggested: the superwipe?
Can you try to format using adb commandline while in CWM?
feisty_noodle exactly!
I can't wipe from settings since it tries to reboot into stock recovery . And I can't wipe from CWM since the eMMC is inaccessible because of the encryption .
From CWMs "Mounts and storage" I am unable to format /data since it is inaccessible . It says something like that it cant read it...
I have not heard of the superwipe, but I'll have to google it. I haven't tried formatting through adb yet, but I'm not sure if that would help.
I'm pretty convinced that I need the stock recovery to wipe the eMMC .

OK, I misunderstood.
@rodstrom
The SuperWipe can be found in Revolution ROM thread.
Becareful using it, if you have a CWM version that read internal only such as 5.5.0.4, it will wipe all you files. I suggest using Roach's 3.2.0.1 or Team Rouge recovery if you're going to use SuperWipe script.
I had the Team Rouge recovery earlier. Although now I have 5.5 something and I can't do anything at all with it . How do I install Team Rouge again ? I tried the modded RecoveryInstaller but nothing happened , just a reboot .
Also I have to cold boot everytime it has turned off . I really need to change my recovery now , if not to stock then at least to something else than 5.5...
Bump,
I'm in trouble here, I have CWM 5.5.0.8 which can't read my external MicroSD, nor read my encrypted internal SD.
I can't flash anything now... What can I do? Is adb an option?
If I can't find my stock recovery I would at least like to have a useful recovery which can read my external MicroSD so I can do something at all.

This member was successful in mounting his external sd with adb shell
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24007127
Hi again!
I'm back and I have tried to follow the post you linked. The problem now is that I can't seem to connect with adb when the device is in recovery mode. Adb works perfectly when booted normally though.
To mount trough adb in recovery mode seems to be exactly what I need, so if I can get adb running in CWM I believe this would be solved.
Maybe another possibility could be to change the mounts in CWM's init.rc before I reboot to CWM, but I don't know if it is possible, or where that file would be. What do you think?
restore stock recovery
I have a rooted TF101 with stock ROM and cwm recovery. I would like to restore stock recovery and keep the other things as is so that I can do OTA when its available. After did may search, I finally found a way and restored stock recovery
successfylly. I would like to sharte my experience with you:
1. The stock recovery is "8239USrecovery.zip". The file name is kind of misleading, but it actaully is a universal
stock recovery for TF101. See "Asus Transformer EPIC NOOB GUIDE."(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494230)
2. The cwm 5504 as from market app "ROM MANAGER" has a "boot into recovery loop" bug. I changed to roach's cwm version
by
2.1 boot into cwm recovery and flash cwm_recovery-5504_roach-tf101-r2.zip.
2.2 cold boot, use terminal emulator to issue
su
echo boot | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=1 seek=0
2.3 reboot
3. boot into cwm recovery (roach's version), flash 8239USrecovery.zip and then reboot.
After reboot, cwm is gone.
I can't flash anything at all though, because of 5.5.0.4 only reading the internal sdcard which is encrypted.
If I could get adb working in CWM I could mount the external microsd and flash things again.
Is there any possibility to change CWM's mountpoints from within Android OS?

ok, tried to flash a rom in recovery today. i was on gummycharged and was having issues so i tried to flash to the tweaked roms. flashed in cwm, but got stuck in bootloop.
went back into recovery to re-flash but now my memory card won't mount in recovery. the memory card is still good yet as i've used it in a different phone.
bigger problem is my volume down button is broke so i have no way of getting into download mode to odin a new package over and start fresh.
so somehow i need to figure out how to get the sd card to mount in recovery again to flash back to stock again.
hopefully someone can help me out!
You were on a different Android version (as in not 2.3.6), so you can't flash from CWM. You can't mount SD because your mounts are messed up. You need to boot into download, but I don't know what you can do if your down volume is broken.

I'm not positive, but if you have adb set up you may be able to use
adb reboot download
while in cwm recovery. There is also an adb-based fix for what may be the sdcard mount issue in the main CWM Recovery thread here - the known issues part might be of some help. While there are possible issues coming from a differing base build, did you mount /system before flashing Tweaked?

Alright, so, my tablet decided to one day just cease stop working. The recovery for some reason can't flash anything now, is used to be able to flash a backup, but not anymore. It used to be able to boot past the animation, but not anymore. I cannot flash a ROM from recovery because it says that the file is bad (and please, don't tell me to check to see if the md5's are correct, they are, I've triple checked.) I've flashed CWM recovery and TWRP recovery, and TWRP cannot fix permissions, but CWM recovery can, but neither can flash a single ROM. I've tried sideloading a rom but i get this error from the CMD window
Code:
* failed to write data 'protocol fault (no status)' *
. I'm at my wits end here. The bootloader is perfectly fine, it works 100% but I can't flash a single thing from recovery. I've flashed non-corrupted recoveries, and still I cannot flash a thing.
You have flashed the latest TWRP via fastboot and it still wont flash roms? Also, what bootloader are you on?

From where did you download which recovery for which Asus tablet.
Sounds like the recovery version doesn't match the device.

Have you ever unlocked the bootloader? (If not: do so by searching on Asus' site for the Unlock Bootloader Tool v7) It's a simple apk which you install and then check and let it unlock.
Only then, you can start flashing!
If you already have unlocked, maybe you sent it in (?) Or flashed an official Asus rom (?), you might want to unlock it again.
Let us know if any of these answers above helped

If you have the 4 icons that indicates JB.
Sounds like the custom recovery is not installed if your on the RCK icon and press the up volume rocker and nothing happens.

Unlocking it would require an OS to be installed, but none is installed because I was wiping to install a different ROM. I have unlocked it. In response to the boot loader, yes, it has 4 icons. So I guess it is the JB boot loader. When I go to RCK it does boot recovery but from there on its unable to open any zips besides any backups I have. When I reload a backup it doesn't install the OS, but it restores everything else.

Can you get adb shell access to your recovery?
Which ZIP are you actually trying to flash? What is the exact error message from the recovery? Try running md5sum (inside the adb shell) on the file you want to flash. Check the output of "mount". Check if /cache/recovery/log contains interesting info.

Alright, I'll have to try that when I get home in about 3-4 hours. I'll get back to you on that. Also, I noticed last night that when I was on fast boot, it would stay stuck as waiting for device on the cmd window. I'm not sure if it was my computer that didn't detect it or a new symptom. OK, I assumed that you're not using data2sd. 1. Make sure your microsdcard is good (reformat and recopy your backup or rom if needed),2. Boot into twrp and wipe cache, dalvik cache, factory reset, wipe system, wipe internal then finally the most important part, FORMAT SDCARD. Now reflash a new rom or try to restore from backup. I would try step#2 first. Good luck.
EDIT: format sdcard instead of wipe sdcard.

That did it!!! Thank you!!!! Looks like it was the SD that was the root of the issue! Thanks!!
Ok.....i hope i can explane my problem..
Today i wanted to update my tf300t to the latest firmware with new bootloader and in fact....it works fine.....so i thougt..
But after i flashed the new firmware with twrp i am unable to mount the internal and external sd cards in recovery....
Tried the latest patched twrp and cwm......in both recovery's i am unable to mount int/ext storage.
Tablet boots fine and works fine to, but i am unable to flash files in recovery now.
I can't wipe cache/dalvik/ etc.
i can't mount/format etc.
in fact, my recovery's are totally worthless at the moment
So.......i started up fastboot and pushed the stock asus firmware again.......who knows, maybe it works.....but no, still no luck
I think it has something to do with the new bootloader and the new partitions but i'm not sure.
Anyone any clue what this might be?? maybe a kind of softbrick?
Unfortunately you have flashed an incompatible recovery with the new bootloader. This has probably bricked your TF300 with no known way to fix......
Are you able to get fastboot to accept a blob file?

I have tried several times with the same result. I tried KatKiss 4.2.2_225 from sdcard with the same result.
Any help thanks.

I would HIGHLY recommend updating to TWRP.
If you can flash from the microSD, grab a flashable zip file like 2.6.1.0 from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2434422
If not, you can push the TWRP zip file to the /sdcard/ using adb and flash that.
A last option is to use EasyFlasher to install it using APX mode. I have repacked easyflasher with newer recoveries here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43986513&postcount=250
In my experience, many users have had big issues (myself included) trying to use CWM and anything beyond Android 4.1.X ROMs on the TF101. TWRP has far fewer issues and it can flash from both internal and external storage.

I would use the TWRP 2.6.0.0 repacked EasyFlasher and then just install recovery (select the TWRP 2.2.0 from the dropdown and it WILL install 2.6.0.0).
I have a detailed guide here: http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...t/31927-frederuco-s-guide-root-rom-tf101.html

I forget it. When i did the wipe i get an "Unable to mount /system" Is this normal? May be i have not enough space for the update?

Hmmm....thats not good.
It could be that your internal storage has a personal issue. I would try using EasyFlasher to flash back to stock. Just download the update from Asus, put it in the "asusupdate" folder of EasyFlasher. Do not unzip the file at all.
Instead of installing TWRP, flash stock. See if that boots.
If it does, then flash TWRP again and see if you get the same system error.

I tried installing twp and cwm versions from xda/twrp.me/cwm website for T300T and flashed them successfully from FASTBOOT but after I boot into recovery and then, when I try to wipe data/ factory reset, do anything in twrp or CWM, I get error "unable to mount /system /cache/ and every other partition, so I can not flash anything, can not mount any partition or sdcard or emmc or anything and can not copy flash files into tablet from PC while in TWRP CWM or external SDcard. I already enabled USB debugging and everything else in tablet settings but I am unable to mount anything or format anything from TWRP or CWM.

If your fastboot still works, please try Kang TWRP 2.8.7.2 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf300t/development/recovery-twrp-t3046479.
if the other recovery does not work, you would probably need to reflash stock rom from the asus website, this is due to recovery not being able to identify the partitions without a full boot, if you wiped it from bootloader the whole partition table is messed up and you want to reflash that by using the stock rom. If you need any help on that just pm me.
I have the exact same problem. Not sure about fastboot as so far it has not installed anything. I have twrp 2.5.0.0 .... adb does function and have actually installed KK 6.0 and works fine, but on restart it is back to recovery and no OS.Any help appreciated.
using fastboot all I get is waiting on device and a blinkng cursor.
How can I get Kang twrp on the tf300 with adb commands?
Sorry to sort of hi-jack the OP thread, but my problem is very similar. Here is where I am now tablet sitting at Starting fastboot usb download protocol ... 3 icons with RCK blinking. I ran the following From my sdk platform tools folder.
adb reboot bootloader
it was followed by;
" daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037"
"daemon started successfully"
I then ran the following:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery twrp_tf300t_kang_2.8.7.2.img
it was followed by:
sending 'recovery' (7126 kb)...
followed by a white blinking cursor and it just sits there,
Same results if I run it all the same except substituting the blob file instead of the img file.any ideas?
Many Thanks
Many Thanks, go out to gs-crash-24-7 as well to the forums here at XDA, I now have my tf 300 back up and running on the stock JB 4.2.1 rom. Still isn't recognizing my Micro SD card, but that is a problem I think should be easier to solve.
Again, many thanks all.
Took forever to get it to be recognized as a fastboot device with windows 10, but once that happened ( I won't lie, I erased everything many times) well that and me switching to a little 3 ft cord (after so many attemps at adb>fastboot flash staging blob) it is going for now.
Good advice below if your TF300T seems bricked.
