Best rom ever!! - Captivate General

I was just messing around with my cappy today and got thinking, What was the best Rom I have ever used? My cappy is not my daily phone ( since moved on to SGS II and now Nexus 4) but still is by far my favorite phone.
So anyway the best rom for the cappy that i ever used was Firefly 3.0.1 it was only Froyo 2.2 but to this day I think it was the smoothest best looking rom ever.
What are your thoughts?

I think the mods must lock the thread. There is no such thing "best ROM". The best ROM is the one YOU like most. Period.

I think you are missing the point. I was asking what you thought was best.

I'm not missing anything. It's just another expression of the same old "best ROM" question. Just find the best one for you and use it. No matter what my opinion is, you'll still think your Froyo based Firefly is the best. In case you want to know what ROM I'm currently running - look at my signature, the info is there.

First off I'm not asking you to convince me that your rom is better, or which I should run, or which has better battery. I'm just asking out of all that have been flashed which is your favorite? Maybe I should have said favorite.
I guess thats to much to ask. I think i will just leave the captivate forums like I did before when it got overrun by a bunch of know it all dicks! It looks like they are still here!
Mods please delete this thread.

Thanks for sharing opinion. Good luck!

Best Sense based Rom

I know roms different from user to user & device to device but I just wanted to hear a consensus on which is the overall best sense based Rom currently available on the inspire platform. I love sense & want to play around with a few different ones. So far, I'm fascinated with the CoreDroid rom. What other roms can compete with this one?

Your probably not going to get a response for this question. Its all a matter of opinion. Ill recommend rcmix. Check it out. Also most people are going to tell you there is no best its all about what you think. And you will probably get flamed for this question if you do get a response.

It's kinda like when your wife asks "does this make me look fat? "
Sometimes there's just not a simple answer....other than "no".
Person A: "Rom X rulez!"
Person B: "WTF? Rom X bricked my phone!"
Person C: "?"
So the 6+ other Posts that showed up when you typed this subject weren't good enough for you? I mean really Jebus.......
There is no BEST ROM as you would have found had you searched first. Please search before opening a new thread.

[Q] Which rom best fits me

Hey you guys I am running on 2.3.3 gingerbread, and I am looking for a rom that best fits me.
I want a fast rom, with decent battery life. I usually use my phone to browse the web and as a music player, a stable and for the most part lag free rom would be nice, and I also want all of the bloatware gone.
So can you guys please help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
Well yeah.... I believe everyone here wants that ROM. This should be in Q&A, not General.
That being said, the stock 2.3.3 KF1 ROM is pretty nice, just remove the bloatware yourself. I'm guessing Serendipity 7 is nice too, I loved 6.4 on Froyo but when I flashed Gingerbread I wanted to stay with the Captivate bootloaders so I haven't tried Serendipity 7 yet.

wrong... this thread should not exist whatsoever. the reason why is even in the thread title Its whats best fits YOU noone on here is you, therefor noone will know what you will like best.
run a quick search for 'best rom' you will see that threads like this get closed pretty much instantly.
I am looking for a new or used car. It needs to be cheap, run great, look great, and be comfortable to drive. Do any car manufacturers make something like that?

It all depends on personal preference. Try each one of them out, see which one you like the most. These threads aren't going to do anything but cause a "Which dev/rom is better" flame war.

This is the truth. many people cant even recommend any yet because we just received s-off.but the threads aren't going anywhere. You have time to try them all.that's the best way to get your desired results. Hope you find one that suits your needs.
patiently waiting fr CM7 and MIUI. Presently checking wat ROM to use in d mean time. Nw I'm using Android Revolution. good but a bit laggy n touch response needs some improvement. Gonna try out other 3 ROMs.
I would just like to know what roms are compatible with the Tmous Sensation. My device is running quite good and want to minimize the chances of problems by flashing a rom that is intended for Non-US phones. Any and all info is appreciated!!!
currently using insertcoin 1.2 and used the no sense mod to remove all of the unwated junk i,e stocks, sense launcher (as i am using go launcher) i am now truly happy woth my device as its now how it should be imo
almost all the ROM's are soo closely based off of the stocker your not really gaining anything right now.
a week from now we should be seeing some more heavily modified stuff

Which is the best current rom in your opinion?

I was tempted to sell off my one x and get a sg3, but I figured it's pointless since I am sure I will be getting one of the new nexus phones when they hit the market. (Hope Google doesn't drop the ball on these).
So since I am keeping this phone for awhile I am going to unlock the bootloader and put something better on it than stock sense.
I really like sense but I had to disable it because of the multitasking issue. Switched to nova launcher as well since none of the sense widgets worked after disabling the core components.
I am looking for a sense based rom with better multitasking, better battery life (mine isn't too bad right now), and the ability to remap the hot keys. I never use the recent button but I miss having a search button that isn't at different locations in every app.
What would be my best option?
Thanks.

Well... CleanROM 4.0 SE is what you want. :good:
Not sure you're allowed to make these sorts of threads though.
Not sure why there would be a rule against asking a question in the question and answer forum about which rom suits my needs the best. If there was such a rule then I apologize for breaking it , but such a rule would be pretty dumb if you ask me.

What's the best is purely subjective and and in the past such threads have erupted in flamewars so the Mods don't allow them.
As you can tell from my post though I have am not looking for the best rom, I am looking for the rom that best suits my needs.
Just asking what I the best is of course going to bring a "What I use is the best because I use it" responses. What I wanted to know is if there is a rom that best suited the needs I described. I am sure there are other roms that can do other things in didn't list better

I've tried them all. Personally, CleanRom DEV and King Cobra's have been my favorites. They've been very reliable for me. Although atm I'm stripping down CleanRom 4.0 [I wouldn't call it clean, personally] and removing EVERYTHING I don't need to see how low/minimal I can get the rom in size :] I know it may not sound like a difference to you, but I don't need widgets or half of every thing that comes with it or any other rom. I want the slim-lined ROM with only core components I need. I don't need the wallpapers or quite a few of the APKs that come with it. Also, I don't need my apps zipaligned everytime I reboot. I don't want it. I don't need it. When I boot my phone on, I want it ready to go ASAP. <Haven't noticed a difference with zip on/off anyways>.
So... When I'm done stripping away CleanRom 4.0 SE, And have done a full setup [Busybox, Root, SD Maid, SD Booster, Cache Mate, and The V6 Supercharger scripts, I'll give you a heads up if all my cleaning [of a clean rom ;D] is worth it. Maybe I'll upload it, But I'd get the dev's permission first.
PS, Tryout CM9. When its fully up and running I'm sure it will be great. My HTC Aria went from stock to CM9, and it was blazing fast.

But that's not what your subject says
If people just read the the thread title without actually reading my post and then start a flame war over it chances are they were going to find another thread to start one anyway. People like that don't come to a forum to learn or help, they come to a forum to stir up trouble because they have nothing better to do with their life and that's just sad.
We should all be able to discuss any subject in a mature manner without it turning into a childish argument.
Anyway, thank you for to the people that replied with answers. I appreciate it.

CleanROM is a good "off-the-shelf" solution. It has bloatware removed, and some customization - including multitasking improvemets. And it still has Sense, which is nice for those who like it. Give it a try!
If you want to find a ROM that suits your needs the best way to go about it is to take the time to actually read the threads in development for each particular ROM.

A better thread title would help, such as "Suggest a ROM for my needs" or even "What is your favorite ROM". There is no "best" ROM, and suggesting so is considered by many here (including myself) to be insulting to the devs that work so hard giving us these ROMs.
I go for stock because I'm for functionality and like having all of my hardware working

Ditto, everything's working on CleanRom, and the dev even improved the phone by cleaning out the junk and improving multitasking. Highly recommended.

What he said. There's no reason to not use CleanROM as of right now if you like stock Sense.

*Poll* 4.0.4 Sense Roms

So now that we have some 4.0.4 roms out now, which ones are you using? Which is your favorite?
CleanROM for life!
CleanROM for sure. As long as scrosler keeps it up, I will be running CleanROM for the life of my phone. There's no reason to flash anything else.
CleanRom hands down

Scott... my donation to you
Been using CleanRom for a while. Now with 4.0.4 it is very smooth and my battery life is a bit better as well. But the best part is, it just works and works well.
Thank you Scott.
Uhhh, isn't against the rules to have "best" threads?
This should last..
Im probably going to load clean rom soon so that I can give that a shot. I was impressed when I saw someone with it.

All thats debatable Nocturnal is best for looks IMO
I currently use CleanRom as it is the most stable and best DD.
Nocturnal is snappier but it isn't nearly as reliable as Scott's Roms.

It's an opinion thread. Maybe someone who hasn't tried one of the roms yet will get some incite from others and decide they wanna try it. It seems like every thread on xda nowadays has someone that feels the need to tell the op that their thread is wrong or not wanted. If you don't like it, don't read it.

Polls like this also turn picking a ROM into a popularity contest, which it should not be. Just because a ROM is popular, does not mean it will be the best for your needs. I've had devices where the lesser known ROM by a new dev ran much smoother for me and suited my needs much better than the super-popular one.
These threads also encourage laziness. Just read through the ROM threads, pick the ones that look like they fit your needs, and try them out. Looking for a few recommendations to get started is not a bad idea. But to just pick one ROM based on a thread like this, and not try others is robbing yourself of trying out some pretty cool stuff.
Asking for the "best ROM" is always going to be problematic. There is no "best" ROM for all needs or preferences. "Favorite" would be a much better word to have used.
I don't personally have a particular dislike for this thread, just throwing it out there.

Also, the same ROM will perform differently on different phones. Just because 50 other people have wonderful experiences with a ROM doesn't mean it's not going to behave strangely on yours. How you use it and the apps you have installed can have a big effect on your experiences.
