Which is the best current rom in your opinion? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I was tempted to sell off my one x and get a sg3, but I figured it's pointless since I am sure I will be getting one of the new nexus phones when they hit the market. (Hope Google doesn't drop the ball on these).
So since I am keeping this phone for awhile I am going to unlock the bootloader and put something better on it than stock sense.
I really like sense but I had to disable it because of the multitasking issue. Switched to nova launcher as well since none of the sense widgets worked after disabling the core components.
I am looking for a sense based rom with better multitasking, better battery life (mine isn't too bad right now), and the ability to remap the hot keys. I never use the recent button but I miss having a search button that isn't at different locations in every app.
What would be my best option?
Thanks.

Well... CleanROM 4.0 SE is what you want. :good:
Not sure you're allowed to make these sorts of threads though.

Not sure why there would be a rule against asking a question in the question and answer forum about which rom suits my needs the best. If there was such a rule then I apologize for breaking it , but such a rule would be pretty dumb if you ask me.

What's the best is purely subjective and and in the past such threads have erupted in flamewars so the Mods don't allow them.

As you can tell from my post though I have am not looking for the best rom, I am looking for the rom that best suits my needs.
Just asking what I the best is of course going to bring a "What I use is the best because I use it" responses. What I wanted to know is if there is a rom that best suited the needs I described. I am sure there are other roms that can do other things in didn't list better

I've tried them all. Personally, CleanRom DEV and King Cobra's have been my favorites. They've been very reliable for me. Although atm I'm stripping down CleanRom 4.0 [I wouldn't call it clean, personally] and removing EVERYTHING I don't need to see how low/minimal I can get the rom in size :] I know it may not sound like a difference to you, but I don't need widgets or half of every thing that comes with it or any other rom. I want the slim-lined ROM with only core components I need. I don't need the wallpapers or quite a few of the APKs that come with it. Also, I don't need my apps zipaligned everytime I reboot. I don't want it. I don't need it. When I boot my phone on, I want it ready to go ASAP. <Haven't noticed a difference with zip on/off anyways>.
So... When I'm done stripping away CleanRom 4.0 SE, And have done a full setup [Busybox, Root, SD Maid, SD Booster, Cache Mate, and The V6 Supercharger scripts, I'll give you a heads up if all my cleaning [of a clean rom ;D] is worth it. Maybe I'll upload it, But I'd get the dev's permission first.
PS, Tryout CM9. When its fully up and running I'm sure it will be great. My HTC Aria went from stock to CM9, and it was blazing fast.

But that's not what your subject says

If people just read the the thread title without actually reading my post and then start a flame war over it chances are they were going to find another thread to start one anyway. People like that don't come to a forum to learn or help, they come to a forum to stir up trouble because they have nothing better to do with their life and that's just sad.
We should all be able to discuss any subject in a mature manner without it turning into a childish argument.
Anyway, thank you for to the people that replied with answers. I appreciate it.

CleanROM is a good "off-the-shelf" solution. It has bloatware removed, and some customization - including multitasking improvemets. And it still has Sense, which is nice for those who like it. Give it a try!

If you want to find a ROM that suits your needs the best way to go about it is to take the time to actually read the threads in development for each particular ROM.

A better thread title would help, such as "Suggest a ROM for my needs" or even "What is your favorite ROM". There is no "best" ROM, and suggesting so is considered by many here (including myself) to be insulting to the devs that work so hard giving us these ROMs.

Ditto, everything's working on CleanRom, and the dev even improved the phone by cleaning out the junk and improving multitasking. Highly recommended.

What he said. There's no reason to not use CleanROM as of right now if you like stock Sense.

seeking optimized TMOUS ROM

I am helping a close friend out with their new HTC One S. They really like the stock TMobile US Rom but complain about battery, and performance. I would like to know if there is a customized rom that is close to the TMo stock rom. Optimizations for performance, stability, and battery are all that is really wanted. Sense, with stock TMo bloat is just fine, and no theming.
Noble Series ROM seems to be the closest to my request, but it's a discontinued project with no download links.
Next closest appears to be TrickDroid, but the customizations removed some stock apps and changed some features that are missed.
I tried searching for roms to find one, but the descriptions are severly lacking. If it were my phone, I would just load new ROMs till I found one I liked, but it's for a friend and I can't get a hold of their phone long enough to do all that.
thanks guys!

Before this post get move to Q&A..
I'm running TrickDroid v3.0, which is stock rom. You can flash tweaks afterward if you like.
What are the features your friend looking for?
Another rom you can look into is Zydroid 2.0 similar to TrickDroid, but a little different in my opinion.
Battery is great on both..
Wrong section bud, try general or Q&A. My choice goes with TrickDroid, best for performance and battery and has TMOBUS version. You can use LeeDroid (I prefer much more) as it works extremely well on my TMOBUS device.
I remember back in the old days on my old device, people who posted in the wrong section got banned! This guy gets off easy
i apologize for posing to the wrong forum. I assumed as I was asking about a custom rom, that it was for dev area.
Mod's feel free to move this to Q/A.
Zydroid clearly states that it removed the bloatware.
TrickDroid does not state this, but it is removed.
We'd like to keep the stock apps if possible.
With TrickDroid, I know you get all regular apps EXCEPT the bloat **** T-Mobile puts on the device (why would anyone want this worthless crap anyways?). You still get all HTC Sense stuff and common Android apps (Play, music, Beats, browser, blah blah blah...). Same goes for LeeDroid.
anyone know what the diffs are between zydroid and trickdroid? ...... leedroid appears heavily themed. I dont care for or want theme changes.
both are based on stock w/sense. the appear competitive on tweaks. both have the stock TMO apps removed.
I'm about to release one as I've just got a One S in my hands It'll be good...
I've tried both trickdroid and zydroid, but not yet touched leedroid as it seems more of a international version. also now that you mention about the extra theme that kinda seems like a turn off to me.
So far although both are great roms I personally prefer zydroid's version, seems smooth, to the point and intended more for tmo user as it was created by a tmo user (granted trickdroid does have a tmo version, it was created by someone who is not using tmo). as far as the extra apps u get from tmo well... yes they both take them off but if there is any that you did want you can go back to the playstore and download them again for free
Hope that helps

NRG!! Now I don't feel so bad sticking with HOS. I've been using energy since my Touch Pro 2 days. Loved the ROMs!
Can't wait for Energy on HOS
PS: Maybe you can figure out why the damn volume fluctuates when you plug in headphones from music to apps.
(For instance, I'm listening to music plugged in AUX to my car and then if it switches to Voxer or Phone, its super low(even at full vol), then it goes back to full volume with music) Very annoying.)
I'd definitely give zydroid ago, Zylith is a great guy and has some excellent responses with his ROM

Best custom Rom for HTC One X?

Best is a term relative to one's one opinions. But I'd still like to know.
On my HTC Inspire 4G, I had leedroid on it. It was awesome! Well, still is. And leedroid has made so many neat improvements in his HTC ONE X Rom, it sounds like an awesome rom. However, as I found out the hard way, the rom is for the international version. I ended up with a hanging boot and I had to flash the AT&T boot.img to get it working again.
As far as I know, leedroid does not yet have a rom for the AT&T one x. Which really sucks because I loved leedroid roms.
Sooo, if leedroid really does have a rom for the at&t one X I would LOVE it if someone can correct me and give me a link. Otherwise, what would you recommend?
I've always been a sense guy, for some reason. It seems fairly user friendly, and I like the looks. Especially sense 4.0. I liked the way leedroid kept sense in. A lot of other roms (cm for an example) don't have sense. And also I had a hard time growing to like cm. Anyways, what would you guys recommend, or do you think I might as well stay on stock?

Looking at it, it sounds awesome! Thank you to both of you. Downloading now, I'll give it a try. I hate AT&T bloatware.
Whats the difference between dev and normal? On the download page it appeared the dev version was 150mbs and normal ~500mbs+.
Heh.. Either way; I'm gunna tweak CM9 a bit and see if I can fix the camera issues. The other bugs dont bother me.
BUT I use Nocturnal Xi40 r109 with Dual Core + 1.8gz OC mods. I pull a 5K+ Quadrant score which is a huge improvement from 4,600 :b Although it all works so fast I personally don't notice the difference.
Any of the Clean Roms!
little rant...I hate that all these threads get closed. They should just start one and leave one open and stickied. It's all subjective and there may not be a best rom, but there are certainly roms thats better than others and with all the updates it's always changing. nice to have on thread where people can voice their opinion and discuss the positives and negatives of each rom.

There's a Clean ROM for everyone. SE for those who just want a faster, less bloated, and more optimized Sense experience and DE for those who want an ASOP like experience but with Sense at the core for stability and to keep the few things Sense does well (like the camera).
I flashed CleanROM 3.0 SE. I have to say I'm impressed. Its a lot like stock but its even faster and smoother! Though I must say I do really miss leedroid tweeks. It'd be nice if CleanROM made it easier to change similar settings.
If you really want fast try smokin1337 sense rom. It is simply amazing. I don't know what he's done to it but it the fastest rom I've ever used. It does take a long time to install, like 10-12 minutes so let it go. It really is fast. I use the 1.88 kernel and radio flashed after installing the rom. I've tried all the custom roms and this is fastest. Never experienced a sense rom that felt as fast as aosp/aokp , I have now. do a nandroid and give it a try. You have nothing to lose. You probably won't go back though. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1698502

Which ROM would be best for my taste?

Before I start, I'd like to say HEY! I just upgraded from the Thunderbolt so I haven't been in this section of XDA yet. I'm already rooted with boot loader unlocked and running everything stock.
moving along...
I'm looking to choose a ROM that's going to be great for my personal taste. I'll start by explaining what I like and don't like and if you guys can suggest one that would be best between the two I'm looking at or even suggest another one that I could use that would be amazing.
I am looking between CleanROM 4.0 LE or Nocturnal Xi40.
I'm wanting something that's going to be smooth and fully functional with sense (although not completely necessary is it'll clean up some RAM usage). I am on 1.85, but would like to up it to 1.88. I would like to have some Jellybean treats and something with the best battery life.
* I like Nocturnal Xi40 for most of it's features. I just don't care for it being desensed, I don't know anything about the Sony Bravia engine and the xLoud engine (if you can tell me the benefits of having it and what I'd be trading it for that would be great.)
Thanks for your help in advance and hope to get some good information/explanations on both of these ROMs to decide which would work best for me. Also, like it says at the top, if you can suggest another ROM that would better suit my taste then let me know.
Thanks

CleanROM. Scott is amazing and he never stops working. It's Sense but it's a hot knife through butter. You get toggles in your notification bar and it's debloated. It's basically how stock should be. I picked this because I really didn't mind stock but I wanted to get rid of bloat and the toggle is nice. There are no bugs to speak of, it's an extremely stable ROM as of right now.
EDIT: also, it boots very quickly, the battery lasts longer than stock, and the multitasking button becomes menu (with an option to change it back), holding home becomes multitasking.
I don't think that you would be going wrong with either of the 2 ROMs you are considering. I have tried both, started out as a strong Nocturnal fan (when I first got my One X) but then I moved to CleanROM because of the constant updates. However, constant updates are not necessarily a good thing either.
Both of the developers are constantly around, answer questions in their respective threads, and are clearly trying their best to fit the needs of the community.
Most of it will come down to personal preference.
Currently, I'm on CleanROM LE but I am actually considering flashing back to Nocturnal.
I don't think that the difference in the two is Day and Night (Nocturnal...get it? get it?) so it's best to test them both and see which has the most appealing options to you.
All I know is that my girlfriend using Nocturnal ended up getting the 23 GB free Dropbox space and I don't have it on CleanROM! I got my One X before her too lol. I must flash ROMs too constantly for the system to even think about giving me space whether it's accidental or not.
I put on clean romantic and so far the only thing I'm wanting now is the HTC clock widget that is 4x1. Is there a way to get it? I looked on the market and for nd something similar but it isn't what I want. Is there a way to get it by chance?
Thanks for both of your suggestions too. I'm going to try them both out the very a period of time.
EDIT: Never mind, I just found an apk with it and it's running fine. So, in conclusion, I love this rom!

Cleanrom would definately be the best for you. With 4.1 you can pick and choose if you want Standard or Lite version right after you flash it.
I have never tried Lite, always Standard or Dev. Personally I like the AOKP touch the Dev version has and I could care less for the HTC widgets.
I think you will really like Cleanrom. Now its even easier to mod it (OC etc...)
Edit: Whoops! Looks like you already made the right choice

Alright....it seems as if I'm a noob and depending on your definition of a noob, I may in fact be a noob.
Scotts ROMS are the best as I have tried them all. I've flashed from DE to SE to LE to DE to SE to LE. I always go back and I'm currently running the DE version with Apex Launcher Pro. My battery life is better than my iPhone 4 was and way better than I expected when I jumped back to the android way of life 3 weeks ago. I had an HTC Inspire a few years ago and as you know, the Android based phones have come a LONG ways. I love the onex.
I prefer the DE version simply because of the battery life.

It's an opinion thread. Maybe someone who hasn't tried one of the roms yet will get some incite from others and decide they wanna try it. It seems like every thread on xda nowadays has someone that feels the need to tell the op that their thread is wrong or not wanted. If you don't like it, don't read it.

Polls like this also turn picking a ROM into a popularity contest, which it should not be. Just because a ROM is popular, does not mean it will be the best for your needs. I've had devices where the lesser known ROM by a new dev ran much smoother for me and suited my needs much better than the super-popular one.
These threads also encourage laziness. Just read through the ROM threads, pick the ones that look like they fit your needs, and try them out. Looking for a few recommendations to get started is not a bad idea. But to just pick one ROM based on a thread like this, and not try others is robbing yourself of trying out some pretty cool stuff.
Asking for the "best ROM" is always going to be problematic. There is no "best" ROM for all needs or preferences. "Favorite" would be a much better word to have used.
I don't personally have a particular dislike for this thread, just throwing it out there.

Also, the same ROM will perform differently on different phones. Just because 50 other people have wonderful experiences with a ROM doesn't mean it's not going to behave strangely on yours. How you use it and the apps you have installed can have a big effect on your experiences.

I'm just not sure what Rom to start with.

You literally described viper rom

If you want customization, ViperROM is the way to go. It is fast and has so many options and settings it can almost be overwhelming if there were anymore things to explore in their tweaks app. Has some nice themes (although many are not fully compatible yet) as well. For a stock ROM with speed and removed bloatware, I recommend Skyfall. It has been the fastest for me as far as stock roms go. Bonestock is great as well, I just had awful battery life on it (which was my fault but was too lazy to diagnose so i crack flashed something else. Just try them all and see what you like best.
Stock. Everything works and you never have to wipe for an update.

Viper.
Stock with xposed seems to do the trick for me

I've flashed BoneStock and have been really happy with it honestly. I really only wanted the bloatware removed and it did a good job of that.
I haven't tried any others yet though. Stock is actually really, really nice. HTC did a fantastic job with Sense 6.0.
A second vote for Viper! This ROM has been fantastic. Performance is much improved over stock, battery consumption has been lower, and there are so much customization that can be done through Viper One's tweak configuration (including enabling Power Saver mode which Verizon took away, performing an "auto hide" of the navigation bar, adding custom themes and colors, etc.). The devs of this ROM are also VERY responsive. Be sure to make a nandroid back up using CWM or TWRP before flashing any custom ROM, so you have something to go back to if you are not happy.
Was thinking about grabbing this phone, but what about those of us coming from stock Nexus Android? I see people recommending stock, but then dont you have to deal with Sense and stuff? Or am I just missing something?

I've run the Stock Nexus, and LOVED IT. I also got used to Samsung's TouchWhiz, I personally like HTC's Sense. Much like ROMS, this is a personal choice. I'm sure, once I see a CM or something like that I will give it a try to check it out. Sense is not like it was a couple of years ago. It Flies. Check it out, see for your self.

See if the stock will work fine for you. From there, you would know if you will still look for something better or new.
