[Q] Huawei Y300 simlock - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys,
My brother bought a new phone, the Huawei Y300. But it's a branded phone by T-Mobile and so it has a simlock. I've searched around and couldn't find much about this phone, especially about removing the simlock.
What we've tried:
- Calling T-Mobile directly to request a unlock code, but they don't give it because the phone isn't 1 year or older
- Tried to follow this manual: http://huawei-y300.tumblr.com/post/47366836617/how-to-unlock-and-root-huawei-ascend-y300-all but if I request a unlock code on step 1 I got a email that the credentials I've submitted aren't right. But they are!
- Going to some phone shop who removes the simlock, but they couldn't
Can somebody help us out? There is no need to install a custom rom or something, I just want to remove the simlock.
Kind regards,
Roy

[Q] Sony Xperia TL [LT30at] - Need to free it from AT&T

Hello Community!!
Noobiest noob here. Please forgive my ignorance.
Sony Xperia TL [LT30at] AT & T phone.
Android version: 4.1.2
Build: 9.1.F.1.120
Here is my issue:
I now need to use this phone in India with a different network provider, but i don't want to spend money on unlocking the phone for a new sim card. I read a bit about flashing a custom ROM and watched Jeremy Phan's video: "3 ways to root your (xperia) android: tool kits, kernel flashing, recovery"
I installed sony's pc companion and update service, i also installed the flash tool on my machine.
a) will flashing the phone do the trick?
b) if so i'm having a tough time finding the right firmware for this phone. Please link me to a robust and hazel free firmware for my phone.
thanks a ton
micky
Hi Micky,
You cant unlock your phone (remove SIM lock) from the operator by reflashing it. You will need an unlock code for that. A legal way is to obtain it from AT&T if your contract is ended, the other one is to buy it, e.g. on eBay. Once you'll get it, just enter a simple key combination to get into service menu, go to appropriate menu item and enter that code there, after that your phone is unlocked, no reflash needed.
Hope that helps.
Hi summer,
Thanks a lot for your insight. I've been searching all the corners of the internet for a while now, with a vengance I think it should be time to drop those efforts.
Please bear with me, i'm trying to think out loud here - Is there no way i can tweak the phone to accept any sim card? Like by disabling a few settings or hard coding some part after gaining root access?
Buying an unlock code is not an option for me at this point, and i don't want to use the phone just to check email and take pictures
many thanks
SIM lock information is not stored somewhere in firmware, which you can access by gaining root permissions. I assume there may be some tricks similar to Turbo SIM in iPhone where you can emulate the correct SIM, but its definitely not worth it.

U.S. S7 [Snapdragon] locked to my previous SIM - how to unlock it for a new SIM?

Hello community,
I´ve searched everywhere to solve this issue without success - I hope you´ll be able to provide a solution.
I´ve bought an unlocked S7 with Qualcomm/Snapdragon in the U.S. (no carrier contract) - I´ve used the phone for about 2 months with a U.S. local SIM card and everything worked fine.
Back at my homecountry I wanted to insert a new SIM from a local german provider but the phone refused to accept it.
Error message: Invalid SIM (please insert the UICC which came with the device) mhhhh, the device didn´t came with any UICC?!?! Looks like a simlock...
In several articles about the S7 I´ve read following e.g. "S7 will lock to a carrier once a SIM card is inserted" .... how can it be? I mean is it true?
So I wanted to root the device but I´ve noticed really quick that the Qualcomm/Snapdragon version has a locked bootloader, means root is not possible at the moment
Simple question
- Is there aaaany way to open/unlock the device to a new SIM carrier?
I just want to use my phone :crying:
Thanks in advance for your support.
Best regards

That option does only unlock the screen remotely, nothing else, nothing to do with sim card

US phone will not work in the EU, as far as I know. Even if the radios are capable, there are blocks in place via Samsung, FCC anb EU that won't let it happen. Could be wrong, but yeah.

Maybe you can try to activate developers options by pressing on build number in software info 5 times. Under developments options there is an option for OEM unlock, try that.

Hello raj_p, this option is already activated. Didn´t work.
I guess I will try to use the service of unlockbase and give it a try...
Already told you that it's not happening. Galaxy phones are region locked.

Hello MattBooth,
yes you did. I just received feedback from Samsung Germany and you are right. There is really a regional lock between US & EU versions.
According support team here in Germany I have to contact the region where the phone was sold.
I will contact the US Samsung support and chek if it is possible to unlock it. I will keep you in the loop.
By the way - I would still prefer a root solution...hope it will not take too long until someone will find a way to root a Snapdragon.
Other solutions are still welcome...go on with the tips :good:
Bye
How about flashing a different CSC firmware via Odin?? No need for root to do that.
But....i have no clue if it will even work??

Hello Major7070,
thanks for this very valid comment - I´ve never heard that a CSC can be flashed with a locked bootloader but if it is possible it could solve my issue...maybe at least :fingers-crossed:
@all, does anyone know if a CSC will help me in this case?
This is the current situation:
- Samsung Germany replied to my request following - yes, there is a regional lock in this phone, please contact the support of the origin country.
- Samsung USA replied following - there is nothing like a OEM regional lock in this phone - there is just a carrier lock by Boost Mobile, please get in contact with Boost Mobile
Boost mobile replied - we will help you with the unlock but you have to fulfill 3 requieremts:
1st - you need to be a boost mobile customer or former customer
2nd - the device should not be reported as stolen :good:
3rd - the device need to be at least 12 months old
I failed on requirement no. 1 & 3 - furthermore Samsun GER and USA gave contratict answers.
I didn´t even purchased the phone with a Boost contract - just used a Boost Mobile SIM during the three months.
The issue can not be caused by a carrier Simlock because if it would be created by it the phone would ask for the Network unlock code of each invalid SIM which is inserted to the device BUT it does not.
=> if this would be the case e.g. Unlockbase could help me with the issue but they can´t
OMG...I´m going crazy.
Thank you.
Best regards

I'm interested to hear if you found a solution to this? I have a U.S. S7 and I want to take it to Germany here in a month. I've been trying to get a Sim unlock code here last night but haven't had a success through att. Have you tried purchasing a code from a third party seller?

After all this answers it's seems that your S7 is Sim locked. YOU should try an online service for sim unlock your device. There are several app on play store, about 20 usd for that and a code is usualy provided in hours. At least for europe. All the apps provide full refound if the code is not found. Search for imei unlocker or unlockscope in play store
Good luck!

Hello calinormy,
this were my first thoughts as well - but as I said, the phine is not asking for the "network unlock code".
I was in contact with several unlock providers and they said, that they can´t do anything for me as long as the phone is not requesting this code.
@all, I mean I´m willing to pay for such an unlock code...at least it is a try - but is there any way to insert the code via hotkeys if the phone does not request it?
Thanks.
Bye
Have you tried to factory reset the phone with the original sim inserted and then once complete insert the local EU sim? You might have to get a T-mobile USA sim to have the phone request a carrier unlock, not sure why that would matter but it's worth a shot.
SOLVED
Hello all,
just want to inform you guys that the issue with the "Invalid SIM" is solved now - BUT there is a new issue.
FYI
I had to downgrade my device with the stock ROM (see software Version)
Baseband was G930PVPU2APE1 => and after downgrade G930PVPU2APC5
The unlock was done by Samsung unlock remote client from 123unlock.nl
Log:

22:52:52 - SW Version: G930PVPU2APC5 (Android: 6.0.1)

22:52:52 - Hardware Version: REV0.6

22:52:55 - Unlocking.. [OK] Lock:0

22:53:02 - Uploading SEC package.. [OK]
22:53:02 - Unlocking SEC.. [OK]
22:53:04 - MSL/SPC: 359276
22:53:04 - UICC Unlock Done..
I have a new issue now:
The device does not connect to a network operator by itself and furthermore the option "Network operator" is not available in the settings (see attached pictures)
Any idea how to solve this problem or should I open a new topic?
Thanks.
What does it show your imei as?

My guess is that you will have to upgrade to the latest ROM you already had installed. It might be that the IMEI cannot be read since that was upgraded with the ROM (and a downgrade of that partition will never happen)

sim unlock possible? UK Vodafone

Sooo,
I bought a used vodafone moto g 1st gen naively expecting to have an easy sim-unlock available in the forums - maybe I haven't found it yet?
The online unlock code vendors I tried have refunded me saying they can't do my IMEI so I'm a bit stuck.
I flashed cyanogen hoping a new kernel would do the magic but I guess the simlock is in a different partition?
I see that a couple years ago http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2903823 some were considering how the sim unlock modified the utag partitions. Does anyone know of further progress, information or solutions to sim unlock a moto g?
Or has anyone found a vendor that has successfully provided a UK vodafone sim unlock code?
P.S. Will I need to revert to the stock rom and kernel to use a sim unlock code?
The official Vodafone UK unlock service should work: https://www.vodafone.co.uk/vodafone-uk/forms/unlock-code-request/
Thanks Professor Gibbins.
Unfortunately the Vodafone unlock process asks for the vodafone number that has been used with the phone. Perhaps it would work if I got a pay-as-you go SIM from them and then provided that number.
Fortunately I tried paying a third unlock code vendor - sim-unlock*.net - waited a couple days and they came through with a valid code. I had started with the cheapest ebay vendors, so maybe they just weren't legit?
In any case, if someone else is in similar circumstances, here's what I learned:
There doesn't seem to be any other solution for sim unlocking the moto G xt1032 than purchasing an unlock code from an online vendor or, in the case of you being the original owner, from the network you purchased the phone from
Having a couple online vendors say they cannot get you the code does not mean another cannot
Neither unlocking the bootloader, installing a different recovery (TWRP), nor flashing a Cyanogen ROM will help Sim unlock the phone
The code provided by the online vendor did not work when I had Cyanogen installed. Fortunately I had created a backup of the vodafone ROM (using TWRP) and restoring their android version/kernel allowed the code purchased online to sim unlock the phone
Finally, the SIM unlock done in the vodafone system was maintained after restoring my Cyanogen install. I hope this means the sim/network lock will not return. It might perhaps resurface if I did a system restore; hopefully then the same unlock code would work again?

Once the unlock is done via an UNLOCK CODE, or via hardware unlocking tools, then it is permanent, so you shouldn't need to worry about this at all, but that said, in case you experience SIM un-/lock issues, then reuse the code when trying to unlock the phone on an OEM-DISTRIBUTED ROM (stock ROM).

[Completed] Unlock T-Mobile Galaxy Avant

I've been searching for a number of hours now, and I haven't found the answer I need. I have a rooted Galaxy Avant from T-Mobile with TWRP installed, everything is backed up and ready for any customer firmware to be installed. I need to get this phone unlocked. T-Mobile says they won't unlock it because I haven't had an account with them for over a year, but it was a prepaid service plan and I bought the phone outright. They just refuse to provide me a code. I understand that even if I HAD a code I would have to flash the MetroPCS ROM and use IT to input the unlock, but what I'm hoping for is a way to unlock with a customer ROM or something like that so I can use it with Cricket. Everywhere I've looked has either lead me in the exact wrong direction and tried to get me to purchase an unlock code, or it has only told me how to input an unlock code I already have. I'm fairly knowledgeable about all of this, but I'm stumped. Anyone who can give me a hand with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi !
I haven`t found any thread for sim unlocking for this device but you can post or search in here https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/discussion-galaxy-avant-t2845229
Good luck !
