[Share] Your KTweaker settings! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 General

I personally would love to see what people have in their KTweaker settings.
Share them.
Please specify What ROM you are running.
Do you have it set for speed and power or for conservation, or a combination of them all. Please specify any other apps you use to give more power or battery savings to your device.
It would be nice to see what others have so we can all benefit from it.
Remember, some settings that work wonders on other peoples phones may not play nice on yours. With that said, any settings that you try from another user is your responsibility. No other user will be held responsible for your device if you mess it up. NO FLAMING IF YOU SCREW UP!!! Any misbehaving will be immediately reported and you will be dealt with accordingly.
We can also use this thread as a learning experience for new KTweaker users. Find out what does what and what settings work nicely together.
I am one of those users that only know what some of it does, but I want to learn more.
Chears!!

RESERVED
I would like to take this post for my own settings once I finish and test them.

I use the suggested settings mentioned in the KTWEAKER KERNEL THREAD. Read the op for the kernel for what I think are the best settings possible. Ktoonz must think so too because that is what he uses.
Good luck

Yes. I have seen those and I am using them, but there are possible other options. Like good options to get bleeding edge performance or options to get the best possible battery life. Like I said before, some settings might not work well with other people's phones. This thread is intended to give users other ideas to see what works best for them. Mix and match type stuff. I am working on tweaking the recommended Ktweaker settings with my own plus other application settings. I want to see what apps benefit these settings and what apps hurt them.

[Kernel][TeamViper]Spartacus_EB13_1.3GHz Build From Source[17 Mar 2011]

------------------------------------------------------------------------------**DISCLAIMER**------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, So I decided to get this kernel out and played with a little more. Had quite a few people test it with success, so I'm gonna release it, but of course, I have to release it with the standard disclaimer.
I nor any of the contributors to this Kernel will be held responsible for anything you decide to do on your own. By downloading and flashing this kernel, you are knowingly accepting the fact that it may not work for you. If you should have any issues though, we are more than happy to help you to try to get it working.
The Battery Tweaks Have Been Removed Until They Are Updated... I Have Permission To Use Them, And I WILL Change Them, But I Will Also Make Sure I Don't Forget Credit This Time. My Apologies For The Last One.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------**CREDITS**---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rodderik - For helping me out from the start. We've been working on kernels since day one of the source drop, but I also had ROM stuff to do and he just kept his kernel wheels turning. The mans a Genius.
Supercurio - For paving the way with voodoo sound.
Mkasick - For the video and keyboard patches.
Paiyne - For putting all my tester kernels through the gauntlet and letting me know what needed to be fixed right away so I could make sure it was a stable release.
All my other testers - I wouldn't be where I am without you guys. So thank you all

*Added My Custom Backup And Restore Scripts*
*Built From Source*
*Removed Battery Tweak Scripts Until I Update Them*
Yes.... I will make sure credit goes to everyone else that worked on them too...
NOTE: My custom backup and restore scripts are a work in progress. I know for sure that the backup works (I've had many testers confirm this), but I've changed the restore script, so hopefully it works for you. To give you a few features of what the script does, here's a brief rundown.
Backup
1. Backs up /data/app.
2. Backs up /data/app-private.
3. Backs up /data/data
4. Creates a compressed .tar file of backed up /data/data to conserve space.
5. Creates a folder on your sdcard for easy access labeled "backuppro".
Restore
1. Restores /data/app from sdcard to phone.
2. Restores /data/app-private from sdcard to phone.
3. Uncompresses .tar file and restores data to phone.
4. Once restored, the apps show back up in your "downloads" section of the Market again so you can still update when an update is available.
5. What to restore is optional. Whether it be both apps and data, or one or the other. You have the option to choose what you want with simple "y" or "n" responses.
When running the backup.sh script, you may see "No such file" or "No such directory", don't worry this is normal, it is still performing the requested actions. Also, before you backup or restore, the script will tell you exactly how much space is being used in the folder on your sdcard. This number does not show up until after the first time you run it obviously, but after the first time, it will show you exactly how much space you are using for apps & data.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------**SCRIPTS**---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here Is A List Of The Scripts Included In The Kernel Flash And Their Description Of What They Do
(All commands are typed here exactly as they should be typed into Terminal Emulator following "su")
1. 1200perf.sh - This script can be run to quickly change the CPU Frequency to 1.2GHz Max and 200MHz Min Frequencies while on the Conservative Governor.
2. 1300perf.sh - This script can be run to quickly change the CPU Frequency to 1.3GHz Max and 200MHz Min Frequencies while on the Conservative Governor.
3. backup.sh - This script was created custom by Team Viper to backup your /data/app & /data/app-private folders to your sdcard, as well as your /data/data folder.
4. restore.sh - This script was created custom by Team Viper to restore your /data/app & /data/app-private folders and your /data/data files back to your phone from the sdcard.
5. cpufreq.sh - This script sets your governor to 'Conservative' and your frequency changing thresholds to 50/10.
6. getfreq.sh - This script can be run to tell you your current CPU Frequency.
7. getgov.sh - This script can be run to tell you your current CPU Governor.
8. verifycache.sh - Force /system dalvik-cache on /data instead of /cache if it is not large enough.
9. maxperf.sh - This script sets your CPU to 'Conservative' while setting your Max frequency to 1300MHz, and your Min frequency to 200MHz.
10. minfree.sh - This script sets your phones internal memory killer to slightly more aggressive settings.
11. tweaks - This script allows you to change certain features of the phone. With it, you can change your Hardware Accelleration, Stagefright Media Player, JIT, and Dalvik Heap Sizes status to either Enabled or Disabled. It prompts you to make a backup first, or you can not use the script.
12. Malware Patch - Rodderick wrote up this script to prevent anyone from accessing your phone or causing virus like issues. Thanks Rodderik, we love your tight butt.

Here are a few applications that you can use with the kernel. Some applications are needed, such as Terminal Emulator, some applications are optional, such as Voodoo Control App, and some applications are just for fun, such as Linpack. Regardless of your choice, enjoy
Voodoo Control App
Terminal Emulator
Linpack
Quadrant
Smartbench 2010
Smartbench 2011
Neocore FPS Test
SimplyLock Lockscreen Replacement
Just wanted to make sure everyone was aware, even though they are posted in my thread, I am NOT taking credit for them. Just a heads up.
NOTE: All the applications that I have listed here are FREE in the market. I simply placed them here for convenience. If you like the apps, feel free to go to the market and purchase the donation versions if available.
You can also download SetCPU from the Developers page on XDA found here or you can get it from the Android Market. If you like the app, show your support for the Dev and purchase it, it's cheap, it wont break you .

I was going to, but i hate defending myself for honest mistakes... I removed any trace of anything people could yell about. I built this personally from source myself, and people can see that i did it. That way there's no questions. And for all the people that said stuff in the other thread... If you don't like my work... don't download it... seriously... developing for the Samsung Epic turned from being fun for me to living in a daytime soap opera... This may be the last thing i do.
Nothing against you ecooce... i've got no beef with you... I agree 100% with the statement you made, what he did was uncalled for... but credit DID need to be given... I just wish i would have been properly presented with the opportunity to fix my mistake before anything happened. I would have gladly done so.
I'm sorry, i don't mean to rant, i just feel like i need to present my case to everyone. If you've been a loyal follower of Viper or not, i never intended to do wrong. I understand that when ViperROM first started, yeah, we have had a few things that didn't work, but our ROM is just like anyone else's out there today... I've personally never heard of anyone needing to replace their phone after running one of my ROM's... I'm not even making the current release, and TPhillips busted his ass on it, but i'm sure someone will say something about it. ViperROM has advanced since we've started, and we're not backing down because some of the other dev's dont like us. We don't care. Again, i apologize for not giving credit to begin with, it was an honest mistake and i gladly fixed the mistake by stating i was sorry.
Here's the bottom line. I Credited other people in my thread, so it's obvious i don't have issues with crediting people. I apologize for my mistake. If you don't like me, or any other person of the team, you have the freedom to choose not to install this. To everyone else, Thank you.

Good man.
As someone thats around you guys alot (the team), I've got to say people on here don't understand how much work gets put into these things. Even though he borrowed some Scripts, as you can see here, the kernel doesn't need the scripts at all to run, and is an amazing kernel WITHOUT the scripts, with just everything BT made HIMSELF.
The dudes helping our Epics while ACTIVELY serving our country EVERYDAY as well, and you don't see him complain or ask for anything in return. Imagine yourself being in the military all day and than dev'ing all night. I sure as hell know I'd be tired. But he still does it anyway cause he enjoys it.
But as you can tell, it seems that enjoyment is slowly being taken away from him, which is horrible. Hasn't anyones momma on here taught them the "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?".
Dudes a great guy yet I haven't seen much respect shown toward him on here and its kind of sickening. I mean no disrespect towards anyone on here, but anyone that's got something against BT or anyone on the ViperTeam, take it up with them privately from now on. You may also take notice that they ViperTeam doesn't go around implying they're better than anyone like some other groups you see around. If you don't like their stuff, they don't care. Just don't use it.
And a problem I saw in the other thread was people saying the kernel was breaking their root.
People, if your on Syndicate, Their root is in their KERNEL instead of their ROM. Therefore if you flash a kernel that doesn't have the root files, you will lose root on the ROM because the root was in the kernel. So stop thinking its the kernels fault when your on Syndicate and this kernel makes you lose root.
Don't know if it works but you can try flashing the kernel than one-click-rooting if you want. That may make it work. Other than that, don't keep saying "I'm running ACS's rom and this kernel makes me lose root! rage!!$%%percent%[email protected]!"
/rant.
Keep it up BT, trying er out now.
Soooo...this does have a2sd?
I know it says "added a2sd", I only ask since the a2sd instructions werent included
Btw, whats the swap partition for? I have a2sd setup from baked snack, but I don't remember it having me make a swap partition...what purpose does that serve? (Just out of curiosty)
And since I don't have a swap, I'm gonna have to remove the partitions first....is there an option to do this in cwm or will I have to adb it?

Just installed and love the speed of this.
But after I wake the phone up from from its first sleep after reboot, color goes weird. Color is all washed out.
Screen looks normal on first boot, its only after the first wake up does it go weird.
I will reinstall when this is fixed.
Can we get everything except the color changes without a2sd?

BT again THANKS!
Will try it out.
Been running Viper Roms forever but was trying others while waiting for the new release. i was on Midnight when I flashed the new Kernel and it seemed to work fine. I then put Trinity back on an did a few more things....well bottom line I cannot get the new kernel to work now with trinity. I've odin'd back to stock and worked my way up and as soon as I put the new kernel on it hangs at the Samscreen. I can flash the 03a and 4 kenels with no problem but Spartacus is out of the question. Any Idea what I may have F'd up?
BT...just trying this out and seems to be great, as usual from team viper. Just a quick question...does running one of the performance scripts eliminate the need for set cpu...or would I still need both? Thanks again! Happy st pat's day!

[Q] Blackhole Build-your-own-ROM for Thunderbolt: Any interest?

I am posting this to see if any of you thunderbolt users would be interested in another, different idea of a custom rom for this phone.
The Blackhole Build-Your-Own-Rom series is a ROM I created, first for the Samsung Fascinate, which is based on the same idea as the Droidmod custom rom for the Motorola Droid. The premise is that you have a base ROM, which has been stripped of all but the very core programs, and you choose to add back only what you want. This combines the ideas of a clean/debloated ROM, and allows you to choose what versions of various apps you prefer to have. Choose from stock apps, mods, market apps, kernels, etc. and you'll be up and going without having to remove what you don't want from a "One size fits all" ROM.
I do typically provide a standalone flashable version for easy grab and go flashing, and in that case it's a super stripped down stock rom, with a few usability mods included in most cases. I'll be releasing the ROM in both ROM Manager, and the Android Customization Suite. If you have any questions, comments or suggestings anyone can feel free to contact me at [email protected].
If anyone wants more details, or would be interested in donating to help cover the cost of the phone check out the post at androiddoes.net http://goo.gl/r4Yi9
That would be pretty sweet.. new to the android scene and I gotta say theres a lot of roms/kernels, some have great features, then something added/removed I don't like, could of course always add/remove something but this is a good idea. If you are able to add kernels as well, along with sense/senseless would be good. I say do it up.
Sounds great! I will certainly be downloading it. Thanks!

Thank you for your comments guys, keep 'em comming.
yea this would be awesome. i think i saw this mod on my wifes fascinate and heard good things about it.
LOVE IT!!!! very interested in this!!!!
Great, thanks for the positive feedback guys. I just picked up my Tbolt from the VZW store, and as soon as I figure out how to use it I'll get started =)
Yes, I would also love to see a grab, populate and go rom >> GPG ROM <<< thanks.
I would definitely dig this.

I'm definitely interested in this
I loved your rom on the fascinate, great to see you start work on the TB
I've had blackhole running when I had my Fascinate and v4.3 currently on my GF's fascinate so I'd love to have it ported over on my TBolt!
I would love to have a Terminal type "toolbox" like ApeX... Nothing would be better than to add what Sense I want like I could with Blur.

Definitely interested!
You might recognize my name, but I used to run it on the fascinate. I like it, I don't like themed markets and stuff, and with backhole I can chose what apps I want bundled with it, it just makes it really convenient to me when I can do that all in rom manager.
I remember sonofskywalker3 bringing the Blackhole rom project to the Vibrant and the sheer magnitude of the project on the Fascinate. I'm excited to see the possibility of bringing this to the Thunderbolt.

Thanks alot for all your interest guys. I'll have a forum up at Androiddoes.net soon with the details and info for people who would like to beta test. I'll post a link when it's up. And it's good to see some familiar faces in here: ilogik, ignitros, destroyerbmx... what issues did you guys have when switching from Fascinate to Tbolt? I'm having a heck of a time finding the power button =)
Yea it took a while to get used to but apparently the power button sinks over time... Mine used to stick out but now is flush with the case.
I was more talking about it being on top instead of the side
But it does seem pretty low to the case, still works fine tho.
Yes! Definitely interested!

First impression of Ubuntu touch

Yes yes yes there is a version for Verizon gs3 available in case you have not seen.
I would have brought along some screen shots....but I don't think Ubuntu would let me :/
Anyways
I know my opinion is irrelevant because you guys do not care and the build is currently the definition of " Not a daily driver"
However,
One can still understand the flow and mechanics of the layout.
I use my phone for everything. Quickly moving from one app to another.
In this sense, Ubuntu flows like a river in how to navigate through the apps and home pages. Everything was smooth and no lag any where.
I did find a draw back to the easy access though.
Because of all the swipes in different locations at different times and the multiple spots to pull down different sections of the notification bar, you find your self
Being as clumsy as a new born giraffe while navigating.
Also, because hard ware keys are broken. I found my self somewhere but lost. It would take me a minute to get where I needed to go only because I just didn't know how to get there haha
Coming from touch wiz and an AOSP ROM here and there... Ubuntu almost seems childish?
The layout makes me feel like an old man picking up a smart phone for the first time.
The colors and theme remind me of a day care.
Haha I know all of this is purely theme as not everyone will be happy with it.
But the idea and creativity into this is purely AMAZING.
One of the most refreshing (ROM?) I have used.
I will be coming back when it is daily qualified and might even think that day would be donation worthy
Side notes:
If you are thinking about flashing. DO it.
It was fun until I realized there is no WiFi or network.
Most Apps open but don't work
No settings?
Can't turn screen off?
Lock screen was only a picture I believe?
Did not seem to be interactive yet.
random contacts and media in there. I believe it was for the demo purposes only.
But get
Hey, after one day of release. Phantom already had it out.
Seriously put a smile on my face.
Let me know what you guys think.
Try not to be a **** on this forum.
If after reading this and you just absolutely hate me, PM me about it instead.

It's definitely different and original, which I like. Hard to get a real feel for it since it's basically a non-working demo at this point. Lots of swiping all over the place to do everything. But it looks pretty clean and has some cool features like the favorite apps bar and easy app switching/multitasking.
for people asking about the link, it is on rootzwiki forum.
Saw an article on this and knew it would be posted about here. Not ready to try it out myself just yet. But I do like the idea and will be watching. Unfortunate that they put out a semi-functional build with flaws such as these but it's understandable.
I am definitely excited to see this up and running.

Builds for the GS3 variants is just a developer preview, I'm guessing we won't see a solid functional build for any device until the source code drops which will probably be around the same time the Ubuntu phone is announced/released. Truly unique experience, lots of swiping and great for multi tasking which I do a lot of. Wasn't too thrilled with the dock system but I suppose it's worth getting use to. The ability to dual boot ubuntu touch/android will be the selling point for most ppl.

Do you have any idea when the Ubuntu phone is going to be ?

[F>A<Q]Must read it before posting in any ROM thread

I have created this thread because i lots of lots of spamming by the users. So i decided there must be a thread which solves your queries and prevent spamming I also like to request moderators to make this thread sticky.
Now we start our Faq.
F>A<Q
First we go universal.
Q1)Is our DEVICE or this ROM can play HD games?
Ans)Most probably this depends upon "HARDWARE" not software, our device is using a "OUTDATED" Gpu so don't expect that it will run all the HD games,It can run Few HD games but they are likely to be laggy. You can remove laggyness if you are on ICS by using chainfire3D,don't ever try chainfire3D on JELLYBEAN.Each Rom more or less has the same capability to Run the games.
Q2)Is your rom is good at "Multitasking"?
Ans)Now this depends also on hardware like"RAM" and "PROCESSOR"our device is having just enough Ram to run things smoothly but we have a good Processor i.e 1GHz dual core Based on Cortex A9 by Mediatek.Multitasking should be good with almost all the Rom but unlike HD gaming we cannot do much But in this section we can do lots of improvement by using various scripts and tweaks for example
1)SUPERCHARGE V6
2)PROJECT XTREME.
Q3)My "Battery" is draining fast after installing your ROM why ?
Ans)It depends upon most probably on your "KERNEL","YOUR USAGE","AMOUNT OF BRIGHTNESS" and "GOVERNOR and I/O SCHEDULER" so don't blame any rom dev.
Q4)Which "Rom" is the most Stable and best and have good feature like XXXX out there?
Ans)Ok First understand that there is no "BEST" word exist in the world of Android(Thanks for the tip buddy @diestarbucks)Even cyanogenmod is not satisfying people's need out there so how you can expect it here, for stability use "STOCK" if you want and feature wise it totally depends upon YOU,so don't create unnecessary thread asking The "BEST ROM" and the MOST IMPORTANT THING- Please don't ask that this rom is good or bad "JUST TRY IT YOURSELF"
Q5)Can we use "THUNDERZAP KERNEL" with JELLYBEAN ?
Ans)NO.
Q6)I have another mobile from "MICROMAX" can i REQUEST anything in this "DEVICE FORUM"?
Ans)No,you cannot do that this WHOLE SECTION is specifically for "MICROMAX A110" So don't request anything about another device.Instead you can send a pm to the RESPECTIVE DEV/OP.
Q7)I want to mode my "SYSTEMUI" but i am not able to do it what i do now ?
Ans)Contact any RT(Recognized themer)or simply just contact @BOND1987.
Q8)What type of "PROBLEMS"can i post on XDA
Ans)You can post any "HARDWARE" as well as any "SOFTWARE" problems, but don't post like "My mobile has fallen from roof of my building screen has broke now what should i do"
Q9)My mobile is using same "Hardware"but company is different and after flashing your "ROM" i am not getting mobile signals WHAT TO DO ?
Ans)The answer is simple just replace the "Modem.img" from your stock ROM.
F>a<q for lewa
I have seen users are spamming lewa thread more frequently than any other tread so i have decided to create this specifically for lewa
F>A<Q.
Q1)I didn't see any "NOTIFICATION" of apps like whatsapp and facebook WHY ?
Ans)Just lock it in the memory by Longpress home button and just press that lock button, you will see your notifications.
Q2) "GOOGLE PLAY" not working properly WHY?
Ans) Just Clear Cache if this not works then Clear Data also.
Q3)"WIFI" frequently disconnects WHY?
Ans) LEWA Team is working on that don't blame OP for this.
Q4)Changing "DPI' is causing funny things WHY?
Ans) Just Stick with the stock "DPI" which comes as default because this problem lies on framework of lewa Op cannot solve it instantly.
Q5)I am getting "FREQUENT FC's WHY?
Ans)Just do a clean install wipe Cache/dalvik cache.
Q1)Is it always necessary to do "WIPE FACTORY DATA"?
Ans) It depends from which rom you are coming from, for example if you have ICS and want to install JB then this is necessary,But when you are just switching roms of same version "WIPE FACTORY DATA" is not compulsory it can be avoided if the user want most of the time it does not cause any FC's but if it is causing then you must do it.Another thing is that when you are coming from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 then data factory is necessary otherwise you will get lots of Fc's(force Closes).
Q2) I am switching Rom to XX4.1.2 to Lewa is "DATA FACTORY RESET IS NECESSARY"?
Ans) No i have done so many time switching roms from xx4.1.2 to lewa without "DATA FACTORY RESET" and i have got no FC's at all.
Q3) Which "GOVERNOR AND I/O SCHEDULER" is best for both BATTEY LIFE and for PERFORMANCE?
Ans)1)ONDEMAND WITH DEADLINE
2)HYBRID with CFQ.
THE END.
Nice idea...much needed
I have not seen ROM comparisons thread if you could do that it will be helpful. A matrix table will be best.
When you say 1ghz is good for multi tasking on what basis you say? 832mhz I can do dr driving 3d like gaming. Do multitask. Broadcom gpu. It should be fine.
My point is let it not be one more information dump like others. Point to source and reason your answers.
Stop calling it spam please. Mods dont allow spams to my knowledge.
Thanks for the efforts anyways its a good start.
Pressing THANKS easier than typing.

Buddy please search android general section I have posted rom comparison also.and I know moderators do not allow spam but posting the same question again n again is called spam, and there is a lot of difference in broadcom gpu and powersgx 530 just google it and all the above observations are based on my practical usage not from reading from any where except the GPU n RAM part.

Q4)Which "Rom" is best out there?
Ans)This depends upon "YOUR LIKING AND USAGE,Most Rom are just same some are themed and some are non-themed,Some have long term support like "LEWA" and "SUVI",and some are purely dead like "Jetmod and Jmp".

I would like to add extra emphasis to the above text in red. There will never be a "best ROM" for everyone, because everyone is different in what they want/need. The only way to properly determine which one best suits your needs is to try them yourself. NO MOAR "BEST ROM" THREADS! :good:

[APP][NO-ROOT] Super Touch

Hey guys,
I know that many of you guys have phones with killer hardware but your phones don't perform so well. Well now, a developer on play store has made an incredible app that can make your phone faster.
This is not at all like stupid apps like clean master that do nothing to speed up your phone. This app uses the gpu to make your phone run faster without any extra battery use.
I did not make this app. I am helping the developer get ore users and I am helping him because it really works very well for me. If you don't believe me, try it out yourself. It is free to download and use.

I don't know...
From a tech perspective I'm curious to know how this works on a non-rooted deivce. The only thing I can think of is that the app is sending touch events to the phone and keeping the cpu and gpu in the higher clock states. If that is the case then if would drain the users's battery pretty quickly especially on older devices.
Other than that I cannot think of a way that this works. Coupled with the fact that the reviews seem pretty shady and this is the second post on xda that I've seem about this I'm gonna call bs on this one.
Unless you show proof otherwise, this is just another one of those 'Android Optimization' apps that ask for way to many permissions. Seriously, external storage access? Phone IMEI permission? Really?? Why does this app need those permissions?
This is the second post I've seen of this app. It seems more like the placebo effect than anything else. Also, Google Play Store reviews seem to be fake or purchased.
After optimization, sliding is very smooth.
Seems to be many "helping" this dev by posting his app on XDA. But there is no need for multiple threads on the same app.
