[ROM MTD] [4.0.4] Multilang ICS Slim ROM (HebSlim) - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Slim ROM is the lightest ROM around (~75MB, 95MB with Gapps)
and it only comes with English, French, German, Italian and Spannish languages locale.
I decided to make a MultiLang Slim ICS ROM (based on Beatmode's Slim ICS ROM ), to be able to have GPS working on most lightest up-to-date localized ROM.
Current features :
* debloated Lightening launcher apps.
* debloated all live wallpapers.
* debloated development tools.
* Replaced Calculator with CM claculator (with advanced and graph options).
* added Nova launcher.
* fixed NS tools.
* added Beastmode's Proton kernel with back light fix - taken from here.
* Auto-brightness fix taken from here.
Missing languages translations are taken from FBis251's AOKP ROM.
It covers up to 95% of the ROM.
If you want full coverage please go to post #7 and send me your language translated XML so I can implement it.
Available languages :

Installation instructions are the same as original SlimICS / AOKP.
Build 1.1
Switched to Beastmode's Proton kernel build 2 - TWRP 2.4.0 with permanent back light solution (no BLN though).
fixed auto-brightness.
HebSlim
SlimGapps
Build 1 - Supplemental apps (Gapps) + "Advanced Slim Settings" not fully translated. all the rest is.
Known bugs :
* WiFi calling not working.
* Personalized ringtones not working, only default ringtone is heard.
Personal recommendations:
* Fancy Sense (SGS3) weather widget
* Auto Memory Manager

What android version are you building? If it has GPS and oc I might flash on fiances device, she loves her games lmao.

4.0.4 with GPS working

Nice so I'm assuming it will have the wifi calling that his cm9 has as well,or not?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk 2

As far as I know, no WiFi calling on ICS ROMS.

Slim originally comes with English, French, German, Spanish & Italian.
If you want full localized ROM and your language is not one of the above, but exists in post #1 screenshots,
I will need your help translating "Advanced Slim Settings" strings.xml file (use Notepad++) and send back to me so I will update it.
Thanks.

This is nice. I never go in this section of the forum so I probably would of never seen it. I like hebmiui. Having a little more space gives good reason for this. I had a kinda off topic question so sorry but what was the model BT GPS you ordered for GPS to work in jb?

[ROM][AOSP][Renditions][2.3.4] Savaged-Zen(MOD) Updated Daily 5AM EST

Savaged-Zen ROM
RC3-Rendition
This is not a CM based ROM, as we have used some hardware librarys from them, and a hand full of features, litterally. We have created this rom from the AOSP google repo, and ported theme chooser directly from T-Mobile.
Thank you:
Anyone who has ever submitted code to AOSP development. Without you, projects like these would not be possible. (CyanogenMod, Evervolv, etc)
Our dedicated testers: aimbdd, noahguz, cheflarry
For helping us set up the repo and countless other reasons: preludedrew
If I forgot anyone for ANY reason, please kindly PM me and I will correct as needed! No need for flame wars.
Savaged-Zen ROM is an AOSP project based on Google's AOSP Gingerbread (Android 2.3.3). We have incorporated some popular tweaks from other AOSP ROMs, as well as added a bunch of our own.
The main focus on this, it to make a lightweight. FAST ROM that is specifically designed to work perfectly with our Kernel. Right now, we are tweaking the ROM and adding our own custom features that you won't find anywhere else.

GPS has always worked on our ROM, if your GPS is borked you just need to flash sense and clear your GPS then flash back, its a one time deal unless your a flashaholic... then you'll need to do it often...
i use our ROM daily and use GPS constantly.

neither.
Salvage is almost CM7, as they port most of all the features and then add in their own stuff (IMO) Not bashing them at all, there just allot closer to CM7 then most AOSP roms, we have maybe 5 features from CM we've ported, the rest is AOSP, or stuff we've built.
Nice, I'll give it a try thanks

Sorry if it's a dumb question but how do I add themes to the theme Chooser?
[ Evo / SavagedZen / from xda app ]
I applied some themes which I downloaded as APKs, but the notification power widgets disappeared!
UPDATE: OK, after a hot reboot, the widgets were back .. but now battery appears always full. Is this the theme's fault?
UPDATE 2: Aha ... 'battery compatibility' ... wow. You guys are amazing.

Hi everyone
There's the AOKP Hebrew translations made by excellent PilotX team.
Also there is the Team Acid superb AOKP build in xda dev section.
It will take me a day to merge both.
If there are volunteers (preferably Hebrew speakers, but not must) I will deliver.
Please let me know.
10x!
One of my workers got this device and I want to flash a new rom with hebrew.
He can be a tester, I will guide him.
Thanks.
great, I will work on it tomorrow and update when it's ready.
itzik2sh,
Hold off a little on porting the rom. I think at this point it's better if we work from source. I have one last problem with sharing the AOKP source with you guys before I can write up instructions on how to easily compile the source.
Once you get the source code you won't have to decompile the ROM since you'll have the XML/Java you need to add your translations and it'll be easier to keep updated with AOKP/Team Acid's changes to AOKP.
Hi FB
actually I have the exact same AOKP build (40) on both ROMs (Team Acid's and SGS i9000), so I thought off swapping resources.arsc without even compiling.
Let me know if it's fine with you.

You can actually test it on English to make sure adding the Hebrew translations & tweak didn't harm any functionality.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
OK I'll flash it in the morning....I've almost used up my data for the month so I'll dl it to my comp when I get home.
Or when ever it gets uploaded.
OK - This is AOKP Build 40-06 with all Hebrew translations :
No Right-to-Left tweak was applied.
I need to know it is needed and not included already.
File : https://sourceforge.net/projects/hebrewval/files/AOKP/aokp_galaxys4gmtd_Hebrew_bn1.zip/download
MD5 : 3F4D1FBEB2C8BB83D1954578A62B9932
1. Please flash according to Team Acid instructions for AOKP.
2. If you don't speak Hebrew, please edit (using Notepad++) build.prop and replace language and locale - 'iw' to 'en' and 'IL' to 'US'.
Notes:
* Please verify you are not getting force closes.
* Hebrew speakers - install a Hebrew keyboard and write in Hebrew "Shalom 1234" - does it write "Shalom 1234" or "Shalom 4321" ? This will let us know if RTL tweak is needed.
* Hebrew speakers 2 - install ynet and report on dynamic news flashes.
Hi guys
Anyone tested this ?
OK I am a little late on this as I said i will test this.
1st do I need to make the changes in build.prop before flashing this or can I flash it then make the changes for it to be in English after flashing....I just don't get much computer time lol....between my wife and my 4 kids I just don't...so Ive decided that my phone is my computer.
What I'm getting at here is once I flash this to my phone will the build.prop be in Hebrew or English so I can modify it and reboot
Hi Carl
Currently system\build.prop is defined to boot up on Hebrew, so for you to understand what you're doing I advise you to change the build.prop prior to flashing, or:
Download Aroma file manager and save it to your sd card.
If you use root explorer you can locally extract build.prop, edit it and save it on sd card, then flash the ROM according to Team Acid instructions and, still in recovery, use the Aroma file manager to replace the build.prop with the edited one and then reboot system.
Thanks!

OK I'm working on this now and will keep in touch with my findings
Sorry it took me a lil longer to get around to this ....just wanted to let you know I'm on it
OK installed and so far...... WOW!
This is incredibly smooth.
I cannot find any fc's what so ever.
I like the blue keyboard
I think I'll run this for awhile
Outside of that damn ugly pink rainbow'd unicorn this is definately a daily driver!
Edit: someone wanna explain to me what this unicornporn.apk is in system apps???.....its not showing up in app drawer nor as a widget....so wtf is it?
Edit lmfao its the wallpaper both live and stationary omg that is sad lol
OK day two and all is perfect...no fc's,no useless non functioning tabs, data & gps work flawlessly....removed 99.9% of the unicorn.
Hi Carl
How's wifi reception?
I'm on cm7 and it's extremely low.

I'll let ya know next time I take the kids to the library were my wife works...that's about the only time i make use of wifi.
Since ur on cm7 you should use Brian's latest cm9....the wifi connection for me was good.
I plan to. I had bad experience with HebMIUI and I feel bad about abandoning that ROM, so after making a lot of efforts I had to switch to cm7 to have GPS & front facing camera functionalities.
I think I will rest this week.
P.S. how is FF camera on HebAOKP?

[MOD][gapps10/12][JB4.1.2] GA-RPR v2.1.2 - 10/12/12

As many of you have already found, I have been releasing some repackaged versions of the gapps package with some of my own personal tweaks (which are are almost all just other mods by other much more qualified developers than I!).
Disclaimer shamelessly stolen from TopProspects Official CM10 Nightly thread:
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this MOD
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at any of us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
* Collectively, and at the same time.
*/
To that end, here is what the package includes:
gapps 10/12 by Formula84
AGPS Patch by crypted (Google specific No-SSL v3.1)
Win7 Nexus boot animation originally by Nighthound, I haven't found who made it portrait for non-tablet users.
Silent camera and camcorder, base OGG from here, but the site appears to be down.
Adblocking from ROM Toolbox
HDMI fix (build.prop mod only)
Please make sure to go to the respective threads and thank/donate to the developers, they are far more worthy than me. Especially for the AGPS patch, please donate to crypted as he is providing actual services to us, for free, that he pays for out of his own pocket. Also, and I have no affiliation with the developer, please consider buying ROM Toolbox Pro, it is a fantastic program and provides so much benefit, at least to me, that I felt I had to promote it!
Download link (same file at both links):
Goo.gl
Direct link
Installation:
Simple. Flash after you install your ROM, preferably in the same flash session. I have only used it with CM10, so I can't speak to other ROM's. It should work fine on any CM10/AOKP based ROM that doesn't already include any gapps. I would recommend against using it with Slim or Superlite, since this will add a lot of 'bloat', but that's your call.
Bug reports, and feature requests are welcome!
Change log:

I'm using 2.1.2 with Orthus 5, (AOKP with 4.1.2). Works great, no issues... Works better than the 7.26 gapps that everyone seems to be recommending.
I've been using this AGPS fix and ad blocking for a while now... Always had to install separately, glad to have it all in one package now! Thanks!
Do you mind if I link your stuff in other OPs?
Glad you find it useful, I did the same thing, flash rom, flash gapps, flash agps fix, flash boot animation, etc, so I made it all in one and figured others might find it useful.
Sure, post wherever you want, just make sure you link to this OP so everyone knows what's what.

For this question, GB roms are way easier to make/mod than ics/jb (for starters), so the creator won't have to worry about not booting a lot (wasted a lot of my times modding ICS stuffs, too and they don't work.)

too much french inside ^^
Now V2 will be more english as base, and 24 languages.
Here in france the roms autodetect seems provider correctly and language is automatically set (don't really know how is it done, but as soon as I enter my pin code, it autodetects carrier location and switch automatically in french)
Hope you will like it, and hope it will be stable enough for everyday use of every MIUI lovers here!

Okay, that exact description is probably not met by any rom other than yours. I respect your work, I just thought that developing Android 4.x (with MIUI or anything else on top) for our Desires could be more interesting since GB is already stabilized and "tamed" whereas ICS/JB are not.
Concerning slow ICS/JB builds, I'm gonna have to disagree with that. Scratch what I said earlier. Today I found a CM9.1 Rom for the HTC Desire on a spanish forum; it is ROCK solid, as stable as a GB rom. On XDA itself, there are a few devs working on JB for the Desire with great success; they managed to get Project Butter up and running, which is quite a feat. But there are still some stability issues with a2sd scripts and the camera.
Anyway, good luck with your work.
I gave V1 a go this morning, felt really smooth. Had to swap back to the daily driver for work, looking forward to V2.

It is not finish 100%, but it makes the rom very very smooth.
I am using this rom since version 1 and the improvements with project butter are awesome.

Hey,
This ROM is a complete Omni build with the addition of the experimental and unfinished Multi-Window feature.
It is also my very first Android build so don't expect everything to work and don't blame me if youe device breaks.
However I've been running this ROM for a few hours and so far everything seems to work,
except from a few bugs with Multi-Window.
Keep in mind this ROM is for the 2012 version of the Nexus 7 3G only

Instructions
Code:
- Do a Nandroid Backup
- Flash ROM
- Flash Gapps
- Flash SuperSU
If you are coming from earlier Omni builds no wipe should be required.
The build should be on par with official nightlies from 8th or 9th December.
If you are coming from a newer nightly make extra sure you do a Nandroid backup, even though it should be fine.

Good start. Be sure to include a screenshot of your Settings/About pane.
Thank you
I added the screenshot and uploaded a newer build.
All new Changes to Omni included as well as a newer version of Multi-Window
Updated with sources from 13 December to 4.4.2
Multi-Window remains the same.

Hey, Until now it is for the 3G version (Tilapia) only, i don't know what will happen if you flash it to a wifi version (Grouper) but I would strongly advise you NOT to do so.
If there is Interest I might look into preparing builds for the Wifi version as well.
I also released a new Update with sources from 15 December and
Multi-Window updated to PatchSet 13

Then, you should better give some info about 'only 3g' in first message, cause it could be dangerous:cyclops:

I'll add it, but if one has a wifi device one shouldn't be looking for ROMs in the 3G Forums in the first place.
Thanks for letting me know.

I am not sure if I can help you and I am a little confused. Did you flash this Rom and a sms/tether mod onto your wifi Nexus 7?
You shouldn't have, as this Rom is for tilapia only.
Also the mod said it's intended for stock roms.
My device is running fine with the dec 15. Build so I guess it's a problem in combination with the mod you installed, especially considering that other users in that thread complain about boot issues / bootloops. I suggest you boot into recovery and restore your nanda nandroid backup and/or search help with other users of the mod you installed.

I have tilapia, don't worry about it.
If you can, please, can you investigate what's wrong there, because i can not use your rom without sms

As I already wrote, I won't be able to help you with this.
The thread mentioned that the mod is supposed to be applied on stock based roms.
The reason for this seems to be that it includes a modified framework that is applied with the mod.
Omni Rom has a heavily modified framework and the multi window feature in this Rom modifies the framework even further.
So what you're doing by flashing the mod onto this Rom is adding incompatible files to your Rom that are vital for it to run, leading to your problems.
I fear the only way you could enjoy both would be to convince the dev of the mod to make a version specific to this Rom, which I wouldn't count on since this only an unpopular modified version of another custom Rom

Yes, it is for 2012 3G and 3G only
Hmm the force closes are suprising. Have you made sure you've got a 4.4 Gapps package? Did you do a clean install? If not i suggest you try a clean install and restore your apps with TitaniumBackup. I had no trouble doing a dirty flash but there is always a possibility of complications.
As to the clock and time issue I honestly have no clue. Seeing you're from malaysia, is your language set to Bahasa Melayu or english? have you tried switching language and do the issues persist? Maybe there is a trouble with the different charset

Yes, a factory reset will clear your data. However if you use titanium backup Oi can restore apps and their saved data after you flashed a new room. All you have to do is add your accounts again. And if there is something you're still missing you can completely revert to your nandroid backup, provided you made one
