Im a big fan of Spigen and like both their Slim Armor and Neo Hybrid cases, though paramount to me is which one has the smallest footprint, and adds the last amount of bulk to the height and width of the phone. Has anyone seen these cases side by side?
the slim armor is slimmer, but also offers less protection

I bought a neo hybrid case when i got my s4. it's made up of two pieces and can be a hassle to take off completely. I ended up sending it back because the button extender for the power button was on so tight that you couldn't tell when you were actuating the button anymore. The slightest tap would wake the phone. That's a big no no if you have it in a pocket. I got the ultra thin air case in rubberized black, and never looked back. I'm not one prone to dropping 700 dollar equipment, so it suits me just fine. Wicked cheap too. I recommend pairing any case you get with a steinheil ultra crystal screen protector as well. It gets greasy sometimes, but a nice microfiber cloth has it looking brand new again in a few strokes. Have had one on mine since i bought it months ago and still don't have a scratch on it.
I love my Neo Hybrid. Never had any issues with the buttons at all...

In some of the amazon reviews, I saw that people said that extended use of the neo hybrid case led to the volume and power buttons of the s4 becoming pushed into the phone so that once you took of the case it was very hard to push the buttons.
Has this happened to anyone else? After having used the neo hybrid for a while?
Not me.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
If you're getting the neo hybrid, buy the one with the reinforced frame (only available on the Spigen website iirc). The frame around the USB port is too flimsy and can break easily if you're not careful.
My question is which has the least amount of bulk, im pretty spilt on either one in terms of style.
My Neo Hybrid broke on the bottom above the charging port from everyday use even when in a leather holster. So I got the Slim Armor View and I'm very happy with it. Everyone who sees it, wants one for their phone. But they are only for the S4 right now.

My only issue with the Slim Armor ports is that the power port could be about half a mm bigger on each side. Its a very snug fit with some of the more bulky micro-USB connectors.
One very nice feature is that it has the terrestrial TV antenna port for the japanese S4, at least on the cases sold in Japan.
I think the fake neo hybrid cases actually have a larger charging hole.

My mom wants me to get a case ASAP because she doesn't want me to break my phone but I have no clue which case to get.
I don't want anything bulky, but something that can protect my phone well, maybe not as good as a otterbox but still protective.
And I'm looking for a case that has a good white design to match my white frost S4.
Can you guys recommend me some good cases?
Thanks in advance!
Oh and I've seen a couple that I like but there isn't any feedback on them.
Here they are:
http://www.amazon.com/SPIGEN-SGP-Samsung-Galaxy-Premium/dp/B00BSXXOC4 (not enough protection)
http://www.spigen.com/galaxy-s4-case-neo-hybrid.html (some people say its bulky and feels weird)
If you guys have any of those two above, can you please leave your opinion on them!
I would recommend either the Urban Armor Case or an Otterbox Commuter. The UAG being the slimmer one but they both give excellent protection. Some people might think they are bulky but to me bulky is like the Otterbox Defender or the Cygnett WorkMate.

They look like they can survive a lot of drops lol, but its a little to bulky from the looks of it but thanks I'll keep this case in mind!
What? The Neo Hybrid is in no way bulky. The first link you posted should provide sufficient protection unless you're going to be dropping the phone everday.
The neo hybrid isn't bulky, but it does add a little thickness to the phone. I got used to it quickly though.

I would say the most noticeable for me has been the overall width i.e. from left to right.
Definitely a beautiful case. Just had a lengthy phone conversation and the added width did make it a bit uncomfortable to hold.

The neo hybrid is a fantastic case.
Only drawback is that the holes do the charge port and the headphone socket are so precisely engineered that they only take the original Samsung parts.

My buttons on my neo hybrid are clicky. No difficulty pressing them here. It is fairly light weight.
As I stated earlier the only noticeable thing for me has been the increased width of the phone. I guess if the outer band recessed a bit more into the tpu case it would feel a bit better. Not a deal breaker though.

Did a bit of reading around I'm seeing/reading nothing but praise for the Neo-Hybrid. Decided to go with the Dante Red for my White S4 =3.
I'm going with the white version of the case! Thanks for helping me decide guys!
Oh and i have another question about the neo hybrid case. Can any headphones fit in the microphone port? Like the end of my headphones, it doesn't go straight out, it goes to the side. Not sure how to explain it

I had the Neo Hybrid and sent it back next day, did not like it at all.
Got a Incipio DualPro in black now and love it. Looks nice, buttons nice and responsive (Neo Hybrid was way to responsive, the lightest touch and the volume was going up/down..), ports big enough to support all usb/audio cables and adds a decent amount of protection without being overly bulky (imo).
Will probably change to the Incipio OVRMLD once its released.

I have both cases, I like the slim armor better than the neo hybrid even though the neo hybrid looks better, they dont work out too well for me, the neo hybrids speaker hole is too small and won't fit my a900x headphones and there is no way to make it wider yourself, the back speaker is also blocked when you place the phone on the table so sound will sound muffled. Its a good case if you have headphones with a small headphone jack and listen to music with your screen faced down. The slim armor has a raised area where the back speaker is so sound isn't bad when placed on the table. The headphone jack I was able to make wider by melting it with a hot metal rod. Works out pretty well. The only thing I don't like about it is it is a major fingerprint magnet (black one).
Both are good cases just make sure they will be able to suit your needs before buying, I got them when the whole 50 percent off on Amazon ordeal was happening and don't think these cases are worth retail price.
I also got the glass tr protector, the screen isn't raised on both cases when placed faced down due to the fact that the glasstr is thicker than regular screen protectors
Edit: got Dante red and metal slate for the hybrids incase anyones wondering. Also got the aluminum buttons, black gs4 with red case and button look super sexy. The metal slate not so much, looks kinda plain like a bigger iphone
i actually have both of these cases, but of course I am waiting for my S4 to arrive tomorrow. I can honestly say you can't go wrong either way, the quality of spigen cases is quite impressive. Personally I will go with the Neo Hybrid and give my brother the Slim Armor, but that's just me.

I got those aluminum buttons and the ultra crystal with the bundle so both were half off on my first order with the satin silver neo hybrid. The aluminum buttons look very well made, though I'm not sure I'd rock them unless I used it with the glass screen protector, because it raises the button, with the glass protector it would be ok tho.
so far I'm using it with the Ultra Crystal because I like how it covers around the earpiece and does not add thickness to the phone.
I got the aluminum buttons just in case I want to rock them one day since they were half off with the bundle.
This sale I just got the metal slate neo hybrid thinking it might be more stealthy on my black 32gb S4. I had a white 16gb originally which I returned after the 32gb s4 came out only in black.
I think the buttons are worth it with the bundle, alone not so much...

You didn't get the buttons and protector as bundle? Should be $29.99 for the case, $6.99 for the protector, and $4.99 for the buttons, which comes out to $41.97. 20% of that is $8.39, so you should've payed $33.58?
Should I place a new order with the aluminum buttons and email them to cancel my previous one? Does this sound possible?
I am a casual user. I want a case that is well-built, will last long, gives adequate protection, yet does not add much bulk. Originally, I liked the Neo Hybrid, but after some more research, I read that it is not very well-built as the outer layer breaks at the USB cable port.
I don't usually drop my phone, but it happens. I'd like the case to be aesthetically pleasing too.
Thanks.
Also, what case colors would go well with a black S4?
I too was disappointed with the neo hybrid. The style is awesome but with it breaking at the thin spot above the USB port and the color flaking off is a big issue. Sad too that the customer service is one of the worst in the industry.
I have been looking for something like it but haven't made my mind up yet.

I'm on the hunt as well. I might still get the NEO though. I've only seen a couple people complain about the brake point and you never know how hard people are on there phones.
The others I'm thinking about:
UAG - Might be too bulky and "industrial" looking though. Has reviews on xda.
supcase - I'm not sure if I like the style, but I don't think it will be very bulky. Has reviews on xda.
puregear dualtek - I think the fat corners might be too bulky on this one, but gets good-ish reviews on amazon
obliq xtreme pro - kinda like a mix of the spigen armor and the uag.... still might be too industrial for me though. Has reviews on xda.
acase Acase makes some decent stuff for the price... I've owned an acase before for a tablet. This kinda looks like an incipio clone.
cruzerlite - cheap and has good amazon reviews.... might have reviews on xda... I can't remember.
I'm very much leaning towards the NEO. I'll buy it w/ a credit card (credit cards add a year extension to your warranty, did you know that?) through amazon. If I have any issues w/ it and spigen doesn't respond, I'll go through those channels (which are pretty fast).
If there is a spigen father's day sale this weekend... I'll get the NEO... otherwise I may not.
Whats your thoughts?
Yea the neo hybrid is very nice I have it on my phone. I was gonna get an otterbox but it added way to much bulk.

Go for a UAG case, they are awesome protection and don't add too much bulk. The Spigen cases look nice (slim armor and neo hybrid) but I don't think they offer much protection against drops. I have the Slim Armor and never used it as I feel I will crack my screen if I drop my phone screen first. Uag highly recommended by me

I think people are obsessed with protection.
I just received the Neo Hybrid and it seems to be a perfect armor. At least, for a daily protection. Actually, for me it's too thick: the bumper is like 3mm while in the front and back it's just 0,8mm, which is perfect because it makes the screen and the camera not to touch any surface.

I originally bought the Neo Hybrid myself, and I really liked the looks and size, but the one fault I couldn't look over was that it didn't fit my favorite gym headphones. I would've kept the case if it wasn't for that.
I went with the Slim Armor. It adds slightly more bulk thickness wise, but it's actually a little less wide. Not sure if it was because of the color combination of the Neo Hybrid (dante red), but the Slim Armor (metal slate) actually looks smaller.
OK so I'm getting my s4 in the next week or so. Its gonna be white. TPU cases (especially the cheap S cases on ebay) have never failed me, I have a slim tpu one on my current s3. To be completely honest my UAG is much more comfortable to hold than my Neo Hybrid. The Neo Hybrid keeps it really slim but adds quite a bit of width to the phone. UAG looks bulkier than it really is in pictures, it's actually surprisingly slim and provides a lot of protection.
The small charging/headphone port on the Neo Hybrid can be frustrating at times but not a huge deal. I personally think the Neo Hybrid is a beautiful case but I find myself using the UAG as my daily.

That doesn't look like the official neo hybrid. Yours is much too fat, so most likely a knock off. The one I have is much slimmer than that and almost fits flush with the camera on the back (directly from spigen). Even my knock off is slim like my real one. The frame on yours is way too thick also. And the mic hole on yours is too large
I do like my spigen Neo hybrid I have two official frames for it and one fake in green with another fake coming in blue. The things I don't like about the neo hybrid is the width it adds to your phone (makes it seem a little bulky) and the headphone jack is small, but I bought an adapter to make my shure se215 work with it. I hear the spigen slim armor case has a little better feel than the neo hybrid but I don't have any experience with it.
cases are totally subjective, and lmao that oneye or w/e it is is not much different than a Spigen, just bulkier which I don't want

I have a pink/grey commuter case from otterbox. I have loved otterbox since my first case years ago. I may be off here but it seems to me they're getting a little shotty quality wise. My rubber seems to turn brown and attract every piece of dirt within a mile of it and now, I have just found, the pink has bled into the white on my phone and stained it. Is this the phone or the case being substandard here? I do love otterbox but I'm thinking its time to move on. What case can I look to for the same protection and reliability? What's the best/worst phone case in your opinion?

I'm a big fan of the Spigen Slim Armor and Spigen Neo Hybrid cases for this phone. High quality, fits like a GLOVE, not bulky at all, look great, and don't have the big lips like the otterbox that make dragging down the notification panel a hassle. Check out their site but buy from amazon, I think you can get the slim armor on amazon for less than 15 bucks at the moment.
I use an otterbox commuter for my s4 and it doesnt interfere with notifications panel at all.(that happens in the s2 commuter case)
Dunno about other colors but my black is holding up pretty good to daily abuse.

Using Spiegen Slim Armor and View.
He gives better design but I'm thinking the Otterbox have better protection if you drop it unfortunately.
Well it's dépend if you take care about your phone or not.

These cases are built for war to thick for me. I tried it for a week and ordered me a smaller case. These cases are perfect for people who drop there phone alot there well built but I rather have an extended battery and a case if I'm gonna make my phone this bulky.

Otterbox makes my phone feel like a brick so I went with spigen neo hybrid. Complete coverage and a little lip.

Just got a gift from a friend, Otterbox Commuter for S4, everything looks fine but the cutout for charging below the case seems not so accurate.
After the disaster which is the S3 Otterbox Defender, I have refused to recommend any Otterbox product to anyone. (the silicon would just keep stretching out of shape)
My GF's S3 Commuter fared slightly better with none of the silicone issues but the plastic shell cracked the first time she dropped the phone...
Fast forward to today... we're both using S4s and couldn't be happier with our Ballistic SG Maxxes. Truly a marvelous case which takes impacts and drops like a champ! The design of the S4 version is a little skimpy up top though but so far so [email protected]
I work in construction so I have a Defender on my s4. Holding up great so far. Thinking about picking up another smaller case for weekends.

Spigen Slim Armor
I have been using the Otterbox Commuter cases over the last year and have been really happy with them. However I recently got the Blue Spigen Slim Armor and it is really impressive how it fits, quality of construction, buttons are easy to push, fits perfect and looks are better than anything I have seen thus far. Plus it matches my Grabber Blue Mustang GT. hahaha Really impressed with it.:good: So far it is the best case I have had on any phone in the last 10 years.
I really like my green commuter. It fits well and looks pretty cool. The construction of the case seems very tight; on some past otterboxes, it's seemed a bit "stretchy" and not as formfitting right out of the box, but this one is very nicely done. My only gripe was the charger cutout was too small, but a kitchen knife and some diligence solved that problem rather quickly.

I had a similar problem with the charging port on my marine/dark blue commuter case. I didn't want to carve up the case, so I just ground the plug down a little with my dremel tool. I figured if I screwed it up I could always get another OEM charger. So far it works fine. I ground down to metal, but a quick check with Galaxy Charging Current shows that my charge values are unaffected. Is this a common problem with the Otterbox Commuter?
My first thought was that I got a fake one, but the box had the hologram sticker on top, website on back, sku sticker on bottom. The silicone lining seems firm and tight with no sagging. Most of the fake vs real videos on youtube stressed the cheap and floppy silicone lining in the fake Otterboxes. Mine seems fairly stiff and fits well.
I was originally eyeing off the commuter cases but after reading the whole screen cracking thread, I went with the defender. This is possibly the best case I've ever had on a smartphone. The plastic inside shell is fairly sturdy which I love because I carry my phone in my pocket all the time and I was worried about having torsion dmg.
P.S: I'm also looking at getting the neon blue spigen slim armor but I'm still not convinced on the sturdiness yet. I so do not want to have to go through samsung warranty for anything. ~_~
