Just installed the ICS 4 wwe rom from the htvDev website. The microphone seems to be greyed out on the keyboard for voice input into txts. The Google voice typing check box in settings is ticked ok but no joy. The google voice search widget seems to work ok. Wierd. Is this a known bug or am i missing something? Thanks
Solved.... you just hold down the EN button and it toggles between keyboard and voice.

I disabled this keyboard on my input. However, after each reboot, the keyboard will always appear on keyboard input menu. Amd when I go into my settings, the Google Voice typing is not selected. But once I went into the settings, the input will be disabled for the whole session until the next reboot.
Anyone encounter this?
I like Google Now function but I really don't like the Voice Dialer that built in Google now, it is terrible, I miss every single word that I speak thru bluetooth headset. It keeps saying "I didn't caught that" every single time. Does anybody know how to disable Voice Dialer and keep only Google Now?
if you open up s-voice the included samsung app and push the menu button go into the settings and uncheck the box that says launch when home button is pressed twice...this fixed it for mine...so i have google now and when i double push the home button it shows me previews of my homescreens
Hi,
I have upgraded to 4.0.4 and I have disabled haptic feedback from the 'Sounds' menu. Everything else seems to be smooth except when typing an SMS (using the built-in app)
How can I disable the vibration/haptic for 'Messages' app?
I have looked under the Languages & Keyboard menu, but I cannot see any 'Feedback' menu in there.
solved. there's a hidden menu under the 'touch input' option.. strange..

Liking the phone so far, except gesture typing with the android keyboard will not work. I have enabled this in the android keyboard settings, and even tried restarting the phone, with no success. Is this a known issue? Anyone having the same problem?

I have no issue with the app. What is you problem? Is it that when you go to type the regular keyboard is showing? If so hit the globe icon next to the space bar. That will either auto switch to Google Handwriting Input or give you a menu to with the option to choose Google Handwriting Input. If that isn't your problem then please tell us what specific issue you're having.

Sorry, I was not too specific. In the messaging app, or search widget, or any time when the android keyboard pops up, I am unable to use swipe to input text, that is, inputting a word by sliding through the letters. This is in spite of gesture typing being enabled in android keyboard settings. Settings/Language and Input/Android Keyboard/Gesture Typing
Thanks

Oh OK. Yeah it's a known issue. Install the Google Keyboard from the play store. That one works fine.
I've had the Z1, Z2, Z3 and now Z5. I've always been able to add the microphone key during the personalization setup process for the stock Sony keyboard. It seems to be missing from the setup on the Z5. Any idea why? Any idea how to get it back? Searching led me to old threads which said to enable Google Voice under Language and Keyboard. The menus may have changed since then but Voice Recognition is enabled there. Thanks for any help, this feature is sorely missed.
So I said F-it and downloaded Swiftkey. During installation where you select a new default keyboard I saw Google Voice Typing and it was unchecked. I checked it, went back to Sony stock keyboard personalization and there was now a toggle to turn on the microphone key. What I don't understand is that under Language and Keyboard there is a menu under Google Voice but no toggle. I feel like in missing something but maybe this conversation with myself will help someone.
You figured it out yourself, but you have to turn on both a keyboard (either xperia or google or other) and google voice typing under Language and keyboard. After that you can add the button to the keyboard you use...
