[Q] Troubleshooting dock charging - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi,
I have a TF700T, rooted and with android 4.1.1. Since a few days, my dock does not recharge anymore the tablet and I can't even recharge the dock's battery.. If anyone could advise what to test, try or what to do before I contact Asus, I'd appreciate a lot. Here are my current findings..
I did not upgrade firmware recently, and I don't even think I installed new SW right before this event.
When tablet plugged with dock: the status bar still shows icon of dock's battery and even displays the current level (86% 3 or 4 days ago, and now 84%), but the ">>" is greyed out. The keyboard of dock still works perfectly.
Even if battery in man tablet gets empty, the icon of dock battery remains at same level and the >> icon remains greyed out.
If I plug the charger in the dock (still with tablet plugged), the thunder sign in main tablet battery appears, but no charging sign in dock's battery, even after several hours of charging. The main battery can thus be charged with the power cord plugged in the dock.
If dock unplugged from tablet: when plugging the power cord to dock, the orange ledof dock lights up as well, but when I replugged the tablet on the dock, ths status bar still shows same % of battery than before (even after several hours).
I tried re-booting and I tried to use power+vol down then selecting the android icon (among the 4 or 5 icons) in booting menu (note: my tablet is rooted but no other change, ony stock firmware, no special recovery menu, ..).
Anyone has ideaon what could happen ? It's weird that dock cant be reahcrged whereas tablet still displays the "dock being attached" and the % of dock battery level..
Thanks for any help,

This sounds very much like a dead battery or battery circuit on the dock. If you still have warranty, get a RMA and return it.

I contacted Asus and they advised to first try a full reset and then send it for repair..
I installed free Titanium backup (my tablet is rooted), but I'm confused on what I should do before doing the reset and the tutorials I found on Titanium even confused me more..(if you're aware of a nice tutoriel, link would be welcome, because I found none very explicit on xda and even on the web..)
- Should I perform a full backup of apps only or apps+system ?
- Should I backup manually my personal files (videos ,various docs, pictures,..) before using Titanium ? (for instance to save space and make nbackups smaller?)
- My sdcard is already largely used with only a few GB left. Can I ask Titanium to save directly to a PC ? Or should I use another sdcard (but then, what will happen to apps installed on sdcard ?) ?
Thanks a lot for your hints.

[Q] My own keyboard problem

I got my Transformer yesterday and so far I have been happy. I got the keyboard today and when I went to connect it, that's when my issues started. The mouse cursor appears on the screen, the status bar shows the keyboard is attached, and the battery shows that it's charging.
However, the keys and trackpad do not work. I have noticed that if I rapidly press keys while inserting the tablet, I can hear clicks for about 5 seconds, but then it stops. What's strange is I can mount external storage via USB.
I have not rooted my tablet, and I have tried restoring to stock settings, and rerun the update. Not sure what else to do. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem

Maybe you can try the newest FW-V8.2.3.13 with Dock 0209 for solving this problem.

TF700 and TF201 Dock Issue

I am running into an issue where I picked up the $99 Best Buy Special, and it is not working.
The device connects, and shows it is connected, but does not work. Here are the symptoms...
- No keys work on keyboard.
- Touch Screen does not work
- Touch Pad does not work
- Does not display dock version
- Shows dock icon in task bar
- Batteries on both devices show no status and 0%
I have reset the device, ensured i have the .22 update, and connected before power up.
Please see screen shots attached.
Any thoughts? Old Firmware?
Thanks for the help on this.

Try charging it first.

[Q] external keyboard not working but charges tablet

I have the external keyboard, the tf500 one I believe and it has quit working. The tablet does not recognize it as being attached even though it can be charged from it. The sd card slot can be read and the docks charging light will turn on when plugged in. None of the buttons or touch pad work and under the system options menu it tells me that no MobileDock was found. I tried resetting, repeated unplugging, app uninstalling, system is up to date etc.
If you can think of something to try let me know or else I will have to return it to New egg or Asus. I have only had it for a few weeks...

[Q] Tf700t on CM11 nightlies not responsive after extended sleep

Hi All:
first off, Thanks for all the tremendous support on this forum makes life much easier
Secondly my problem :
I have been running CM11 nightlies on my unlocked Tf700t for a good while now. But recently I have started ruining into a problem where
my tablet does not wake up completely from an extended period of sleep. Like, say, I leave the tablet at home in the morning, and return in the evening from work to use it again, I find it asleep. (of course). and then I try waking it up. It waits a few seconds to wake up and then the touch screen is not responsive. If I press the power button twice (in quick succession), the reboot menu shows up, (expected behavior I think), However, I cannot touch any of the options to execute them.
I then proceed to just reboot it by holding the power button down for a few seconds and wait for the all too familiar vibration indicating the tablet is rebooting.
Would anyone have a clue as to what might be going on ? (At this point I am thinking of going back to a stable CM10 version, I am not sure I can find a version of CM11 nightlies from a month ago.... )
Thanks all comments and responses are appreciated.

When it happens the next time, connect it via USB to your PC and grab a logcat. It also can't hurt to get the kernel log (adb shell dmesg > dmesg.txt).

So the wale lock issue happened again, and this time as suggested I tried to get at the logs . So I connect the tablet to my windows 7 laptop. I get a warning from the laptop regarding an USB outlet using too much power and that it has to be disconnected. Since the tablet was the only device I had connected before I got the message, I disconnected the tablet.
Before I disconnected, I tried to list the devices connected via adb (adb devices). No devices were listed. and then I saw the message about power surge at the USB port and disconnected the tablet.
I tried this out on my Mac, and the same behavior ( Mac OS suggested that I disconnect the devices sucking too much power form the USB ports) and the same behavior with dab as well (no devices were listed).
So I tried a different strategy : Do not let the tablet go to sleep. I was able to get that only during the charging phase. so I turn it on and also I turned on daydreaming mode to see if that makes a difference to not let the tablet sleep. (and extended the sleep delay to 30 minutes while not charging).
I left the tablet at home and when I came back, The tablet was awake but, it said the battery was completely discharged. (there was a ? in the battery icon in the notification tray on the top right hand corner of the tablet). I connect it up thinking the battery just drained as the laptop never slept. However, when I plugged in the tablet to charge, I saw that the battery had drained only by 1/3rd of a full charge. I just did a log cat capture I am not sure if it will contain the full log from yesterday.. But it is attached.
any comments and assistance is appreciated.
Cheers

Issue with Asus Zenfone 3 Max ZC520TL

Hello all
just before i get started i did have a thread here regarding this issue before but sadly unable to find it now so seems i need to start over....
this is more of an update on what has been done so far but will just give detail about the issue from start
when this phone came to me it was not functioning i have no clue to what the wife done to it.... it appears that it may not be charging and something is stopping it from charging..... the charging indicator is on (( orange )) and the battery will display on screen with a lightening bolt in the center.... if i plug into laptop the laptop will sound off the USB connection and disconnection alert will do that 3 or 4 times
pressing power button will make phone vibrate and will display a battery with the lightening bolt assuming that means battery is flat as a pancake
holding volume up and power button brings me into the recovery option total of 3 options show 1) normal 2) fastboot 3) recovery whatever i select say for example recovery it will display the Asus and powered by Android this will last for about 3 to 5 seconds before going off again
so that is the state of the phone as of now and even after other things i have done as i will mention
in the past i have come across 2 phones with the very same issue the first one i flashed my self that phone only shown a charging indicator light but i found the flash tool and rom from the Alcatel website and it fixed the issue so assuming the same would apply with this Asus also the other phone i had with same issue was fixed with a flash
so here is what i have done so far using SP flash tools and following instructions from different places i have successfully flashed over the Stock Rom done it under download only also format + download and even tried firmware upgrade but i am still stuck with the same thing as mentioned above
obviously after flashing the phone it needs to power up to complete the setup process but as is clear i cannot do that if the battery has little to no juice
so what i am looking for is a solution to getting the phone to charge again or a way to charge the battery by other means (( bare in mind this phone has built in battery )) (( battery has been replaced new ))
what could be causing the phone to not charge or at least give battery the power it needs i ask because i do believe the phone is giving the battery some power but very little..... the way i look at this situation is like installing a sound card on a PC but not installing the driver the PC knows the sound card is there but cannot work without the driver same seems to apply with the phone
if i disconnect the battery from the main board the laptop will not pick up the phone even if i press down on the volume down button as i do when using SP flash and the orange charge light flashes so i don't see the issue being with mainboard but more likely a software glitch maybe the MTK chip is not doing its job properly or maybe it thinks the battery has full charge and stops the charger from adding more juice when in fact battery is flat
so can anyone enlighten me to what could be the problem and a solution
thanks in advance
