Team Win Recovery Project 2.x, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. It’s a fully touch driven user interface – no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

when closing TWRP for the first time it asks if I want to flash SuperSU - I said "yes".
after rebooting and opening SuperSU for the first time it sais the binaries needs to be updated. I choosed "TWRP/CWM" to do this. (the "normal" way is not working).
SuperSU now says, that it will reboot into recovery to update the binaries - but nothing happens back in TWRP.

Maybe I've misunderstood this, but I thought the HTC dev unlock allowed writing to the system partition. Is this not possible yet? (When the ROM is running that is: I have several apps that need to do this)

No, there is code in the kernel that disables writing to system partition while booted. As soon as kernel source drops this will be the first thing I fix

Did you flash the zip (found in the supersu release thread) in recovery, or just install from the market?
Just getting it from the market won't install the binary needed.
The zip also deletes the SU app and binary. Its the best method for installation.

Obviously, you can't uninstall system apps in the usual way. You need to use something like Titanium backup, or use ADB shell.
Ok, so I went into Root Uninstaller and uninstalled the standard Superuser app but I still get the same message, what is really weird is that whenever an app launches that requires superuser access that Supersu screen pops up and everything works as usual.........
Obviously it's working but I still get that same damn message.......

To install Xposed is actually pretty easy on the LG V10.
By all means, any issues in regards to any brick, bootloop or data lost, I will not be able to save you from it, so remember to back up your stuffs before doing anything further.
Since we do not have proper recovery, we have to use the alternative method, provided by @Chainfire , which is called Flashfire (those who have used G4 before should have heard of this amazing application that allows you to flash zips without a recovery).
Link to thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/paid-software/flashfire-t3075433
1) Register as a beta tester and install Flashfire Beta on your rooted LG V10.
2) Download the Xposed Packages (mainly the apk and the latest sdk22 arm64 flashable zip)
Link to thread/download page - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
3) Copy it to your phone (If you are using PC, if not, skip to next step)
4) Install the Xposed APK
5) Open up Flashfire, allow root, and click the Plus (+) Button at the bottom right screen.
Afterwards, select Flash ZIP or OTA, and select the flashable xposed zip that you just downloaded/copied into your phone.
When the option comes up, just click the tick at the top right hand corner of the pop-up.
6) Once you are done, scroll down the main screen and click the Flash Button.
It is best to flash in conjunction with the Xposed fix for the second screen, Thanks @RiceRocket954 for the quick flashable zip to fix those issues, and also @tattedup for the APK fixes.
Download link - https://www.dropbox.com/s/8s181or9n2taw51/Xposed_2ndScreen_fix.zip?dl=0
7) Wait for it to reboot, and you are done

THANK YOU SO MUCH.....your screenshots showed me that the zip file never downloaded all the way. That's why I could "See" it in the folder (178 kb) but not in Flashfire.....again, many thanks..
Im having some difficulty. It must be a simple oversight..but i Followed instructions through and cannot enable exposed. The xposed installer tells me to update and install the framework. I have a vs990. Installed the alpha program, and installed both zips. The first time i did it i wasnt paying attention and installed version 23 instead of 22. I ran the uninstaller through flashfire and reinstalled the 22. Cannot seem to get it to recognize....wondering if my initial mistake ruined it...any ideas? Thanks

So I've been getting lots of different questions about how to get this and that on android 7.0 nougat so to make it easier for everyone to find ill create this thread.
1. TWRP
Is twrp available for N? If so where can I find it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/twrp-3-0-2-0-n-t3506947
2. ROOT
Oh cool now I have twrp. So how can I root?
Download phh r275 version and flash
Download and install Material phh apk: Release post
Now you should be good to go. If any issues feel free to ask here or in phh official thread.
3. BUSYBOX
User friendly zip flash this and the below steps isn't needed!
Flashable zip (1.25.1) : https://mega.nz/#!zlRm3S4B!9rAtfi0wI8oFu6xjJITgF0dRwV21UPsxvZQZzMo6VXk
This one is a bit tricky. If you run root. But
Download jrummy's busybox on Gplay.
Select installation folder to /system/xbin or if u don't want to touch system folder use /sbin if available. U can replace jrummy''s busybox with stericsson version if you like it better. But you must have installed jrummys version first if you're booted into android. Else stericsson busybox might have issues installing. Or u can use zips which contains busybox Google busybox flashable.
4. VIPER
More user friendly if using this zip the below steps should only need se Linux mode changer!
Flashable zip: https://mega.nz/#!f8wlzIrB!vVCAv-xqWB8lOrcQTgIyFL0WS7MFsE9iFb08E1YKV2Y
Is quite a mess to get working. You need se Linux mode set to permissive. Flash guitarheroes version of v4a (2.5.0.5) once flashed you need to replace the audio effects in /vendor/etc/audio_effects else you'll get I/O driver installation failed. Copy the .so files to /system/lib and /system/lib64 and set correct permission. If you have wrong busybox message. Try different versions of busybox but I use latest from stericsson and it works great. Hope u get it working.
Oh and don't forget to allow sd storage access or you'll get driver I/O error as well. And se Linux changed to permissive use se Linux mode changer for it. It works great with phh!
5. MAGISK
As it seems to be now. Magisk won't work due to loop issues on boot. And mount seems to have losetup fail 1 on mounting a .img while booted.
6. Xposed
Not yet available. Be patient rovo needs time we can wait for him
7. comes soon.
More stuff.

It doesn't matter if it's aosp. Since it is for v4a it will work. As long as the audio effects works it doesn't matter.
Also I just finished my hopefully new nougat viper4android zip (i made my own for M with material designed version for my s5 neo) which worked fine until now.
Now it extract all files to its locations even to /vendor partition which all zips I used previously never had. I'll also update busybox zip which previous available is 1.24.2 which I'll bump up to 1.25.1.
I'll also going to upload my stuff to android file host. But that will be later

I've been trying all day and I'll always end with an I/O or Busybox error. I tried a lot of things, like changing /vendor/etc/audio_effect.conf to audio_effect.conf.bak or installing Busybox into system/bin, but none of them seems to work for me.

Do you know, is your Viper4Android installer compatible with the following rooting/Busybox configuration:

For all Samsung Galaxy J701F users - Test Root with bypass defex
With the last TW firmwares Samsung released A new security called [Defex].
And this protection prevent any process to run as root if it was not in the whitelist that provided in the kernel source code:
Code:
/system/bin/run-as
/init
/sbin/
/system/bin/
/system/xbin/
/system/vendor/bin/
/vendor/bin/
/tmp/update_binary
So if any app wants to run an elf executable in [e.x "/data/local/tmp"] like [Titanium Backup] of [ES File Explorer] the elf executing process will returns with Killed.
The first release of this protection was in Galaxy A8 2018 (SM-A530F) Android 8.0.0
and then released in Galaxy Note 9 (SM-N960F) 8.1.0
And all of these protections was defeated by some hex patching.
Now it is the time for SM-J701F:
Samsung released the source code of J701F today so i downloaded it and get a new patch to defeat the security

Not sure. But take a backup and try Magisk/SuperSU from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an.../test-disable-defex-security-samsung-t3851487
Don't forget to confirm in that thread if it works. :good:
The link you provided isn't working. It must have been deleted due to some violations.

Magisk has been updated a couple times since the missing file was first uploaded so perhaps this isn't necessary anymore.

I don't know if you have 3rd party antivirus or not, but if so you'll want to whitelist what its complaining about if you can, otherwise uninstall or freeze the antivirus.
You also want to freeze down Security Log Agent, possibly Device Security, and also Knox related apps are important. There's lots of apps to freeze things down but I've used Titanium Backup for so long that I haven't payed attention to other ones and don't know what they're names are. It can be done at the command line as well. Search for what works and is free, because that feature I think isn't free in non paid version of Titanium backup.

Also, if you've gotten errors at TWRP not being able to mount /data you might want to install the Magisk apk separately and then update the Magisk app from the running phone environment assuming it lets you.

What do you mean by 'in system apps'?
Assuming you ready had Google app already pre Installed in system, if you manually installed the pixel launcher the. It's placed in data instead of system. Usually if you flash it, it's placed in system. If it let's you uninstall it then it would be concerned a data(user app) and not system

You can move it to system app of it's not already. But all I know is both have to be there for feed to show. From my experience

(i recommend disabling ur default launcher so if an error happens you have access to a different launcher(example OP^ launcher)
Yes I just tested it and it worked for me, I have root explorer as my file manager (u need root fyi)
You can use a different root file explorer app(whatever suits you,
1. just to be safe backup ur launcher in Titanium Backup.
2. go to /data/app and locate the folder come.google.nexus..... (i forget the rest of the folder name)
3. cut the folder once you locate it and move it to /system/priv-app/ and paste the folder
Make sure permissions are rwxr-xr-x(when I pasted mine I just did a reboot and it worked fine.)
4. reboot phone!
Wala

Just curious - Will rooting the phone wipe the data?

Yes because you need to unlock the bootloader for that. It will wipe everything on your phone. There's a great guide in the news & dicussion forum (pinned). Feel free to follow it.

If you are not a root user it can cause more problems than needed, do you have Google Hangouts? I can help you one on one better there!

---edit---
Root it's self doesn't wipe ur phone, it's unlocking nthe bootloader (which is required to root or add twrp recovery)
