For all Samsung Galaxy J701F users - Test Root with bypass defex
With the last TW firmwares Samsung released A new security called [Defex].
And this protection prevent any process to run as root if it was not in the whitelist that provided in the kernel source code:
Code:
/system/bin/run-as
/init
/sbin/
/system/bin/
/system/xbin/
/system/vendor/bin/
/vendor/bin/
/tmp/update_binary
So if any app wants to run an elf executable in [e.x "/data/local/tmp"] like [Titanium Backup] of [ES File Explorer] the elf executing process will returns with Killed.
The first release of this protection was in Galaxy A8 2018 (SM-A530F) Android 8.0.0
and then released in Galaxy Note 9 (SM-N960F) 8.1.0
And all of these protections was defeated by some hex patching.
Now it is the time for SM-J701F:
Samsung released the source code of J701F today so i downloaded it and get a new patch to defeat the security

I don't know if you have 3rd party antivirus or not, but if so you'll want to whitelist what its complaining about if you can, otherwise uninstall or freeze the antivirus.
You also want to freeze down Security Log Agent, possibly Device Security, and also Knox related apps are important. There's lots of apps to freeze things down but I've used Titanium Backup for so long that I haven't payed attention to other ones and don't know what they're names are. It can be done at the command line as well. Search for what works and is free, because that feature I think isn't free in non paid version of Titanium backup.
---------- Post added at 03:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:51 PM ----------
Also, if you've gotten errors at TWRP not being able to mount /data you might want to install the Magisk apk separately and then update the Magisk app from the running phone environment assuming it lets you.

I dont think that if you install first supersu me and then kingroot your tab, after root turn wifi off and use supersu me, no data sent to anyone........ anyways it doesnt send your passowords etc to china, just like browser data and few app datas.... but theres no way to get passwords.... all are crypted or hidden well in smali

I wouldn't be sure about that. If you type in your password, once rooted, anything can easily capture the keyboard input and log it or send it out. Let me elaborate. It's like the guys who say, "Hey I have a firewall installed so it cannot communicate out." Yeah, o.k., so all the firewalls do is manage IPTABLES, so if I am an application and have root access, I can do what I want to avoid your firewall rules quite easily. Just a thought.
Hmm, updating the binary will remove the @#$%&* thing , we're just going to use the app to root our phone, and I guess wiping cache and dalvik is necessary
BTW tab 4 is best for gaming because of it looks and size but due to a stupid Samsung company, 1.2ghz + vivante gc1000 expect lagging, I hope some kind hearted will make a custom kernel for overclocking this tab.
BTW There's no Tex plugin on gltools, installing default will not work, so you have to find a cracked version of gltools, well if you do that... R.I.P expect force closes

Well i didnt say anything about firewalls i was daying if you manually disable wifi and use king root, it wont be able to connect anywhere to send any data.... also you can search by date and time files made during root session and remove everything to prevent any keyloger to work
Have ODIN and a stock image ready!!!
Be careful with this root process! The sm-t237p 5.1.1 OH7 boot loops and won't hold the root or Philz recovery... Yet!:cyclops:

No. I can easily change the file and date stamp to match any given system file you already have so that it is not easy to find. Also, Kingroot will not run correctly and root your device properly if it cannot contact it's servers to download the proper exploit for your device. Now, if you are talking about disabling wifi only so that Kingroot cannot contact it's servers after you are rooted, well, if you use any data what so ever, it can use that same data connection. As an example, I have to have data of some type to login to my bank site, etc..
SM-T237P Specific maybe others with PhilZ recovery...

Flashing recovery trips KNOX (no warranty or OTA updates) and the other method sometimes doesn't... Also, the recovery/zip method stopped working on lollipop and marshmallow with the older SuperSU builds but... Chainfire has a new BETA SuperSU 2.6X that is a systemless root and now working on the newer Android builds using the recovery/zip method. This seems to work for mostly ALL Samsung and Nexus devices... Read about it here:

Installing Xposed Framework for Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime
Doing this may cause your device to be bricked or stuck in a Bootloop, so you're solely responsible for any damage caused to your phone
Downloads :
XposedInstaller.apk : Must be installed to manage installed modules, the framework won't work without it.
Xposed.zip : Must be flashed using a custom recovery, if you don't have one yet check out my thread here to see how to flash CWM recovery.
XposedUninstaller.zip : If you want to uninstall the framework/If you are stuck in a bootloop.
Use Sideload to flash Zip because there's an issue of SDCARD and EXTSDCARD not mounting in CWM Recovery
First boot up your phone into CWM recovery
Go to Install zip update package and select Install zip from sideload
Now connect your android device to your computer
Download this and extract it.
Open command prompt in the ADB folder (mfastboot-v2 folder) by right clicking in the empty space of the folder while holding the Shift key.
Copy the Zip file you want to install on your device to the ADB folder, in this case Xposed.zip.
Run the following command to sideload zip to your phone : adb sideload <filename.Zip>
In this case adb sideload Xposed.zip
Similarly if you want to uninstall the framework flash XposedUninstaller.zip.

The xposed version you have posted above is causing continous bootloop. I installed it on my J7 Prime 610F. Then since being a long time samsung user. i knew that maybe i have to flash xposed framework version made by Wanam for Samsung devices.
So The wanam xposed V86.1 Sdk23 for Arm 32bit works fine and then the phone booted up. better change it to this version in ur above link bro
Thanks for the detailed adb guide as we know still TWRP Touch or drives in CWM are not mounting and one has to use the adb commands. for J7 Prime

it worked for almost phones except J7p

since TWRP forJ7p It evolved more
so if you have pen-drive (USBotg) you can put your needed *zips
as xposed or other, and simply flash them via twrp
after you mount you usb storage ( tested by me)
maybe also you can use flashify.apk ( I didn't test it )

I wanted Secure Folder feature ever since I saw it in Note 7. But the Bummer is that you cant use it in Rooted Devices.
Today I found Secure folder Apk on APKMirror and tried getting it to work with Root.
Spent my whole day Downloading various ROMs and kernels and installing the secure folder APK (as some ROMs have included knox in their recent releases). But in every ROM I install the secure folder and Samsung Knox I get a warning "Failed to create Knox mode".
So I decided to give stock firmware a try and with the help of Superstock kernel got it working at last..
For those of u who want Secure folder, Knox, S-health, S-pay, Android pay, Banking apps support etc etc, follow these steps and Enjoy these stuffs in your Rooted S7E. Cheers
Currently none of the custom ROMs can run Secure folder fully even after having all knox status modifications.. So until its included and fully Functional in custom ROMs you can follow this guide.
Steps:
1. Download latest Nougat firmware from Sammobile(or any other website which u prefer)
2. Flash it with Odin.
3. Flash TWRP
3. Root it (The usual stuff - no-verity.zip and SuperSU.zip)
4. Flash Superstock Kernel
5. Flash all the MODs and stuff (to customize your phone- sound mods, camera mods etc etc)
6. Reboot.
7. Download MyKnox or any other app from Samsung store or Play store
8. Install Secure folder from here
Enjoy your new daily driver with latest security patch, mods and Knox, secure folder, SamsungPay...
Hit Thanks if u find it useful
EDIT: you can use TGP kernel with any custom ROMS to have secure folder working...
Just flash TGP kernel after flashing any ROM. U should be able to use all the above stuff
Credits:
Samsung - for the firmware
@Chainfire - for supersu
@Tkkg1994 - for Superstock Kernel
Any body try?
How about samsung pass?
What's the difference between secure folder and private mode? Can i create a secure folder in external SD card?
I'm using renovate ROM and I'm able to run secure folder. Even with root.

Secure folder can't create knox mode.. And my knox FCs
I use Solid Explorer to create a secure encrypted folder. Works with the fingerprint sensor and you can create on your SDcard
I dont think Samsung Pay will work...it will get stuck somewhere down the line...either initializing or adding a card.
Use TGP kernel with any available stock custom ROMs. You will be able to run secure folder and knox.
I have tried the Samsung Pay but when I click on STARTS > I get Connection error: Unable to connect to Samsung Pay temporarily. Try again later.
Mmmh secure folder still not working, app is opening but after introduction stucks on "creating secure folder" for 1 minute, then the error "impossible to use knox mode" appears

Well, I have no problems...
The link is working too.
Now Im using Superman ROM with TGP kernel. The method in this thread works too. It's upto you to choose from custom ROMs or modifying the stock ROM yourself. .
Don't use magisk.. If u do then hide magisk from knox apps properly..
Also Install phone info app and check if the knox counter is hidden..
I always use SuperSU systemless root method.. give it a try..
Get back here If u still can't use secure folder properly.

Flash the kernel again ( Either TGP Kernel or Superstock Kernel. I'm using TGP though works well with secure folder).
Flash superSU after flashing kernel at the same time..
It will boot normally with root.

Better than stock, have Apps2Sd working fine (which is a must on this tab unless you only use 2 apps ?), but can't swap SuperSU for MagiskSU anyhow.
Method:
backup your data,
ensure coming from Lollipop, not KitKat stock, (I had this but had to reflash to fix corrupt cache partition - couldn't wipe - so I'd be inclined to flash LP just for good measure),
flash TWRP (below),
factory reset wipe + system wipe,
flash ROM,
flash patch,
(I then flashed Magisk SU (any) which fails, but removes inbuilt SU first which causes TWRP to offer to apply root which I accepted and this causes SuperSU manager to prompt you to finish setting up root and handles this properly. Don't have to do it this way, but simpler than enabling inbuilt root in developer settings if you want root.)
Boot system,
Boot to TWRP and flash Open GApps (I used Nano - stock boots but has issues with Pixel Launcher).
Setup Apps2Sd (need to select Enable SU during boot and deselect Mount namespace separation in SuperSU manager settings to let simlink stick on reboot).
Enjoy 5.1.1 LOS! PW

I'll help, once I mutter thru it myself. But ck. the watched thread now, as they've got the links and thread data uploaded using their new/improved platform...as that's what I'm doing step by step on my pc/win 10 ver. Look for the links and scroll thru the threads, I actually went thru the github read to get a little knowledge and newbie basics 101 about coding, etc.
Here's 1 of the 1st d/l you'll need for installing 12.1. You are updated to lolli pop, cover. 6.0 , as that's a big prerequisite as the thread discusses.

Hi all,
I have a Huawei Mate 9 (MHA-L09C432) with EMUI 9.1 on it and an unlocked booloader with Magisk installed.
Because I want to modify root settings I would like to have full root access...
Is there a method now to get full root access with EMUI 9.1?
Thank you for your answers in advance!

You have Magisk and that's the root. 'Classic/full root' is no more possible because of EROFS. Only systemless root functionality provided by Magisk

Ok thats bad, hoped that there is a solution now...
Is that EMUI related or will no future Android phone have "real" root?
But a SW downgrade would bring back real root?

EROFS means read-only file system, developed by Huawei, used in EMUI 9.1 and 10.
Google is pushing that system must not be changed, and it is similarly enforced in other phones with Android 10.
Read discussions in Magisk and Magisk Canary threads on XDA, even better topjohnwu's (developer of Magisk) blog on Reddit, to understand in which direction (systemless) it goes and why.
By HiSuite you should be able to downgrade from EMUI 9.1 to 9.0 (prior to EROFS)

Ok thanks for the explanation. Doesn't sound good for me... But maybe there will be a solution like reformatting in future I hope to get "real" root!

It's unlikely that you'd be able to change the partition types back to ext4 - one of the other things to note about EROFS is that at least some of the contents are compressed, and as a result the system partition is smaller than it was with ext4. It's likely the same is true of all of the other partitions though I haven't checked. But in any case, there likely isn't enough physical space to store a repacked EMUI 9.1 image set in the new partitions.

Ok I understand...
I saw that you can unpack the EROFS partition in a virtual environment, remove or modify system files and repack it...
But that's to complicated for my purpose...

I tried to downgrade but it failed (probably because I have a Magisk patched recovery).
So I tried to install the stock recovery but I can't boot into Fastboot... (I shut down my phone, hold down volume and plugged in USB ... also rebooting to fastbood via ADB did not work -> always booting to system).
What can I do about that? Factory reset? Or is this a known issue with EMUI 9.1?

Let it boot to system and use Magisk manager to uninstall it. The 9.1 fastboot doesn't pay attention to the button state if it thinks it should be booting into recovery, and that flag persists as long as stock recovery hasn't booted.

Apparently, you had root still working (if I correctly understand your long story).
In that case you could have also flashed stock Recovery by EMUI Flasher apk from post #1 at:

I have one problem after setting up my phone again completely:
I can't connect to WIFI hotspots anymore... It tries to connect but ends in "connection timed out"...
What could cause this problem?
I restored my WIFI connections via Titanium Backup, could that cause a problem?

I would not restore by Titanium (specially if changing a firmware) but lby the stock Backup app (or HiSite, it's PC counterpart).
It can also backup/restore WiFi connections and with that I even successfully transfered my WiFi passwords from P9 Oreo to Mate 9 Pie
(You can select which parts you want to restore and if there are incompatible settings, it will not offer that part for restoring to the new Huawei device/firmware)
