[Q] Ubuntu for XL - Sony Xperia L

Is there someone who is working on Ubuntu Touch for our phone?
I saw the list of devices for which it is available and devices for which the work is in progress. Xperia L wasn't there.

Try and write about resoults in this thread.

Till we don't have a CM for XL there won't be any Ubuntu as it is needed for Ubuntu to work.

I was actually planning on 'Trying' to port it, but my Tipo is broken at the moment.
But as soon as you set up the basic stuff, it probably isn't that hard. They've got a whole tutorial on the net how to port it to 'your device' as they say it.
But probably there will be someone else to step up and do it
I think is ....not very hard to port

But anyways, I received the Touch-Screen Digitizer part today, with a bit of luck I can find some time to get it repaired later this week and I'll start trying to port it later at the end of this week or the begin of next week.

I'm gonna have a hard time on this. I recently moved back over to windows. As I lost the Ubuntu CD.... And my internet is quite slow so I'm not in the mood to re-download it.
So, therefore, I don't think I can succesfully do this. There is no official support from porting from windows. There is from Linux and Max OSX.
So, as long as I don't have any linux (or mac) distro, I will not be able to port this.
I might try later, but if you continue, I'll be here to support and help you where needed. Have you got a system?
Either way, for now I can not do anything on this subject anymore.
Good luck!
Regards,
Drago.

I just download the sources, and take a look. Its kinda easy port, since it needs just cm10 and some changes. I give I try to compile it on my netbook, but I reallt doubt that can handle it. Any way in a few days I ll be back home and I compile it on mt desktop.
ps: did you try to setup a cygwin? maybe it can compile it..
Send from my island, using message in a bottle.
Any luck on this yet?
About cygwin, tried it multiple times but my PC doesn't want to work with it correctly.

Lack of onboard development tools for Xperia L

Well guys as we all know nowadays there are several apps that can perform the basic tasks required for Android Development without breaking a sweat. But as you all may know ROM managers refuse to work as Sony Xperia L is not officially supported by Clockworkmod recovery(Actually TWRP also). Although it works through flashing a kernel with CWM or TWRP integrated solves the problem. But this type of recoveries have a major drawback it is that every time (if) a higher or newer version of Android is installed like new AOSP ROM there is incompatibility of the kernel with new Android Version or basically the Firmware.(obviously)
Ok so here's it I request Sony Xperia L developers to please try to make a independent recovery , which does not require any kernel flashing before.
And its my humble request ( fully understanding developer's hardwork ) but this needs too be done. Because for now we aren't getting official versions of them by any means.
I request every Sony Xperia L developer to do this for their own and new developer's convenience.
There's no pressure though , do this by own free will.
Anybody Ready??? please leave your thoughts on it down here

Well, you should read before post. They have tried already making CWM for locked bootloader and it wasn't working.
There was glitches. Don't get what is your problem. We have does things for XL, it doesn't mean we don't have them because you have to flash kernel in order to make them work.
I fully understand .... but

But then sometimes if kernel has to be loaded standalone, then a recovery is better option, I know it's secondary thing but you this contribution will make future development a bit user friendly for Xperia devices as we are fully dependent on Flashtool, and having a emergency secondary way is really useful sometimes.
And yup I just put on my idea if u agree. Please contribute.
Thank You .
This is impossible for any new Xperia device because they don't have recovery partition. You should research before posting anything. Reporting now.

Look at the list, no single Sony device is officially supported. This has nothing to do with the Xperia L.

Now I know that Sony Xperia Devices don't have recovery partition. So that's why no support from ROM Manager.
By the way I was being specific about Xperia L only because I wanted it for our Xperia L only . As it is in Sony Xperia L section.
anyways thanks for info.

[Q] Lollipop or custom rom for Sony E4g?

(was directed to this forum from the XDA Assist)
I'm very new to Android (been using iPhone since its release) but i got a Sony Xperia E4g as a gift from my carrier and I would like to update it to Lollipop or root it and get something like MIUI on it. This that possible?
I would like to get rid of all the Xperia software and just get a clean Android install like Nexus phones have.

you can think of source code as a raw materiel of android kernel.
which you/someone has to compile to get a kernel which you can flash on your device.
and you can modify raw meterial to do anything you want to do with your kernel.
for example disabling system write protection (sony_ric) adding custom recovery(cwm) overclocking ,undervolting etc.
and if you get enough experience you can port lollypop or cynogenmod12 to your device.

sony is developing faster than any developer on xda so you can expect lollypop before custom rom,s.
Woah! That's surprising! I thought only Android One devices got MTK sources.
Btw mtk still sucks, lol

I think mtk no longer sucks.
Mtk devices won't have source code cause most of companies that are using mtk are not releasing source code.
Like micromax never released sources.
i got an E4g it's really fast with good battery life, maybe the faster device in that price.
Soon costum roms will come out and prerooted stock firmware :fingers-crossed:

That all i know. Maby said for both e4 and e4g.
cwm, twrp
Hi all there!
Well I got me an e4g as well and I'd spend some time working on cm. Actually I've been looking on the partition table a bit to get cwm or twrp running as a first step but I got stuck there as I could not figure out where the recovery partition resides. Therefore I'd like to know if someone already started working on that and if someone has / or knows where to get a stock rom. And as a last question has someone tried the chinaphone / MTK backup from SpaceX with e4g?
(Sorry cannot post link here )
Cheers
Chris

[ROM] [No version yet] [D2302] Ubuntu Touch | Developement & Discussion |

Hello!
I am trying to port Ubuntu Touch to my D2302 (M2 Dual Sim).
High priority features for me: Dual Sim working, Mobile connection(3G), Miracast, Ubuntu Legacy Apps(Java, Firefox etc)
I'm starting with stock rom 5.1.1, I found kernel files from galaxyfreack on github.
I will report there on my progress in this.
Any help is appreciated
[20-10-2016]
Started working on ROM.
[29-10-2016]
Downloaded "phablet" sources for building an AOSP for device(used as base for Ubuntu) .
Goodluck!!
You can talk to the developers in an IRC
IRC : #ubuntu-touch on Freenode.
For help
It was a difficult task. I tried once, but when I have no knowledges, and i wasn't be able xD.
The advantage is that Sony makes things easy.
PD: I Suggest you not to use the SONY Dev Aosp sources

Took it into account
It could be because of wrong kernel.
In example, Sony AOSP suggest 3.10, which doesn't have support for my D2302. Likely, they released 3.04 stock sources, I'll try to compile firstly kernel for my device for CM, than I will try to do it for Ubuntu Touch.
Due to choppy Internet and issues with my PC, I managed to download sources only today. Due to the lack of time I will try to compile kernel for UT this week after Monday.
Keep you in touch

AOSP 10 Xperia XZ Premium - After update don't boot

Hello,
I will try to compile the Android of source. I followed to tutorial located to developer sony. It was compile successfuly, but after flash it the mobile phone not booting correctly. It was hangs up on the SONY boot screen (the red diode was powered on). I can connect to the phone by the ADB. I attached the boot log (dmesg). Maybe someone can help me?

i think you need newer binaries for aosp but no one can download right now
we have to wait when file available than you can try
https://developer.sony.com/file/dow...es-for-aosp-android-10-0-kernel-4-14-yoshino/
if newer binaries won't help you should open ticket to https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/bug_tracker/issues
Yee, but I downloaded previously version SW_binaries_for_Xperia_Android_10.0.7.1_r1_v3_yoshino and it's not working. I'm beginer in android development. So i need wait until sony reuploaded the file.
So every time, if i compile Android from source i must flash the newest SW (OEM) binares published by sony, right?

v3 binaries won't work but we don't know if are v4 binaries okay but we have to wait
sodp team make corresponding changes in sources directly linked to binaries
before you build sources check your sources for which version you need
version is hardcoded in common-odm.mk
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sonyxperiadev/device-sony-common/master/common-odm.mk
Code:
# Vendor version
TARGET_VENDOR_VERSION := v4
If this is an Android Q binary it won't work on XZ Premium as it is not a Treble device. I've tried a few methods to create a vendor partition and it doesn't work.
new binaries now available you can download now
