Hello!
I am trying to port Ubuntu Touch to my D2302 (M2 Dual Sim).
High priority features for me: Dual Sim working, Mobile connection(3G), Miracast, Ubuntu Legacy Apps(Java, Firefox etc)
I'm starting with stock rom 5.1.1, I found kernel files from galaxyfreack on github.
I will report there on my progress in this.
Any help is appreciated
[20-10-2016]
Started working on ROM.
[29-10-2016]
Downloaded "phablet" sources for building an AOSP for device(used as base for Ubuntu) .
Goodluck!!
You can talk to the developers in an IRC
IRC : #ubuntu-touch on Freenode.
For help
It was a difficult task. I tried once, but when I have no knowledges, and i wasn't be able xD.
The advantage is that Sony makes things easy.
PD: I Suggest you not to use the SONY Dev Aosp sources

Took it into account
It could be because of wrong kernel.
In example, Sony AOSP suggest 3.10, which doesn't have support for my D2302. Likely, they released 3.04 stock sources, I'll try to compile firstly kernel for my device for CM, than I will try to do it for Ubuntu Touch.
Due to choppy Internet and issues with my PC, I managed to download sources only today. Due to the lack of time I will try to compile kernel for UT this week after Monday.
Keep you in touch

Sorry, but I need more powerful PC to compile UT for Xperia M2. I expect to buy a new one this spring, unfortunately
If only I have enough time this January, I will try to do everything on Christmas holidays, I will have a vacation.

I was actually planning on 'Trying' to port it, but my Tipo is broken at the moment.
But as soon as you set up the basic stuff, it probably isn't that hard. They've got a whole tutorial on the net how to port it to 'your device' as they say it.
But probably there will be someone else to step up and do it
I think is ....not very hard to port

But anyways, I received the Touch-Screen Digitizer part today, with a bit of luck I can find some time to get it repaired later this week and I'll start trying to port it later at the end of this week or the begin of next week.

I'm gonna have a hard time on this. I recently moved back over to windows. As I lost the Ubuntu CD.... And my internet is quite slow so I'm not in the mood to re-download it.
So, therefore, I don't think I can succesfully do this. There is no official support from porting from windows. There is from Linux and Max OSX.
So, as long as I don't have any linux (or mac) distro, I will not be able to port this.
I might try later, but if you continue, I'll be here to support and help you where needed. Have you got a system?
Either way, for now I can not do anything on this subject anymore.
Good luck!
Regards,
Drago.

I just download the sources, and take a look. Its kinda easy port, since it needs just cm10 and some changes. I give I try to compile it on my netbook, but I reallt doubt that can handle it. Any way in a few days I ll be back home and I compile it on mt desktop.
ps: did you try to setup a cygwin? maybe it can compile it..

Any luck on this yet?
About cygwin, tried it multiple times but my PC doesn't want to work with it correctly.

Okay so I've bought a samsung galaxy chat B5330 device back in feb'2013. Don't ask me why cause I conciously bought it. So I realised after searching for 6 months that there is no interest of developers in this device. so I have taken up the initiative to 1) Build CM 10, 2) Port CWM, 3) Root the device myself. However I don't have much idea about building android. I've rooted and flashed Custom recovery n ROMs to my dad's phone before and I'm a geek so I learn things quickly about computers n phones. So I'm nor a complete newbie neither a Master developer. Therefore I need help of those devlopers who will be kind enough not to discourage me. Anyone can root a device which is more popular because it gets vulnarable too quickly so there is no point in telling me that "you should have bought a device which has developer support". I am interested to be a developer myself n that challenge is really so tempting to me. So here are my questions which I don't have exact idea about.
1) I have a computer of the config -> AMD fx 6100 hexacore buldozer 3.3 GHz/4 GB RAM/500 GB HDD/Windows7(32) & Ubnuntu 13.04(64). Can I do the job of building roms from the source with this config in the first place?
2) Does galaxy chat B5330 support 'fastboot'? if yes then How can I boot into fastboot mode? I've tried with adb 'reboot-bootloader' but the device just restarted normally. So I don't know How can I get into the fastboot mode?
3) CM developers are really kind enough that they have put alot effort into making the wiki. I've got precious informations about building android from source and all. But I have a confusion. There was mentioned fastboot is necessery for building CM. So if my phone does not have fastboot should it mean that I can't build CM for my device at all?
4) How much data do I have to download? Do I need to be connected to the internet always while editing local file? n If I use 'repo sync' to update the code always won't my editings get overwritten by stock code again?
so these are few basic questions I have for now. I know I might not get any response at all. But there's no harm in trying. thanks

The best way to start is to use another Rom as base (get permission first) then start tweaking it with scripts, apps and build.prop tweaks. Once you start to get familiar with the basics, start experimenting with different tweaks. Since you are going to create a Cyanogenmod 10 Rom from scratch, I give you best of luck and hope many people will use it!
FINALLY!

read this thotoughly.
Today my wife got this device as a gift for Christmas. She asked me to look at it and set it up for her. After about an hour of research I was deeply disappointed by the fact that this device has no ROMs or Kernels and barely supports ROOT. The device is kind of slow for 2013 due to its one core 1GHz processor. But I am sure this issue would be fixed with optimizations from custom ROMs and Kernels. I myself am not an android developer but do some coding in the free time and worked on a few ports of sense for several devices. On this thread I would like to get as many developers possible with the Asus MeMO Pad to communicate and collaborate to develop a working port of CyanogenMod for the device. I will be happy to help anyone interested in this project by doing some work in the free time. I chose CyanogenMod as it is probably the easiest one to compile and is much simpler than its competitors. If we get a successful build of CM then we can move on to developing Kernels and more complex versions of Android. Keep in mind that this is not a request for any particular developer but just an invitation to collaborate and build a working ROM for this tablet. If you are interested in working with me on this project please PM me or comment down below. I will be glad to help as much as I can. Thank you to all of the developers that would be willing to participate in this project.

Hi! Hiya @nerotNS, I'm currently new (a noob) at xda-developers forum but since I'm actually getting a memo pad what better way of installing cyanogenmod properly than asking for help. However I couldn't help but to find the source code, and I did. I'm currently still learning so the source code wouldn't be of help to me than it would to you. So that said, heres the source

Hmm that's the kernel source code, we already have that Though it was in a bit of a strange format, plus I firmly believe that it's outdated as I think ASUS made some changes in the kernels via OTA. Thanks for your tip though,it's good to see that someone's trying to do with this pad

As Linux or Android itself this project is a continuous work in progress with no completion time since it will add new features and follow Android version development

I don't know how to cook roms myself. I'm waiting for some dev that know cooking stuff to make the ROM based on Marshmallow.
It's a little weard tbh as there are new 5.1 roms all over the place, but no new topic's with 6.0.
The only ROM that I can find is the AOSP from FXP Group, but it's old (19th October) with bugs etc.
I don't know why they suspend the work on it.
We have official source from Sony to build 6.0 AOSP rom, + now the aosp camera possibilty and could even maybe import the theme engine, launcher from Sony Marshmallow Concept from Z3.
I know that it can be a lot, and its only my toughts as I don't know how exacly build this stuff up, and I just keep my finger cross that someone will grab hands on it and build some nice looking rom for our Z1 Compact.

I know that @erikcas is working on it, (mentioned in his Omni thread), and there is or was a build out there for Z1c - http://fxpblog.co/aosp/aosp-6-0/ - which I flashed and got bootloop. Besides that, someone else started a thread which was closed. I don't know the details, but it seems like they weren''t being totally kosher, (it's still viewable somewhere in the forum). I'm sure we'll be seeing something more from FXP before too long...
Hi all
We have published a new snapshot, zip v14, with camera update (improved quality and stability)

Hello, you don't have to get account to use Emma, follow instructions from Sony here http://developer.sonymobile.com/services/flash-tool/how-to-download-and-install-the-flash-tool/ you probably skipped this part - Copy the Customization.ini file. You find it in the Flash_tool_for_Xperia_X.zip.
I can see there is no openbootloader for amami
Edit:
figured it out, its just need to flash ta update aka new s1 boot config.

Nothing special... just download flash tool from Sony site and folow instructions... download complete, flastool installed, simple start emma and connect your device in bootloader mode, til after you connect device in bootloader mode emma window will display few things on the right menu, install TA update and you are done with enabled recovery option (called openbootloader).

Hello All,
I am trying to re-vive the Ubuntu Touch port for Galaxy S3. In which of the many areas of XDA this would be placed?
- Its no official or unofficial Android ROM
- its rather like Sailfish OS
How to name the thread correctly according to [ROM] etc flags?

The other problems I manage locally - but I want to start a discussion thread soon, since I am convinced to be able to push out a test build soon. I want to involve more people into this, thereby generating more possible solutions for problems.
In case you are interested, the phone boots already correctly, kernel is fine without errors, Android container starts also without errors. Ubuntu´s init/upstart is mounting all necessary partitions, and brings up most of the basic services. Currently stuck with GUI since mir/libhybris/unity8 cannot paint on framebuffer or hw composer

Hi,
good to know. We just need to make sure AT&T version does not have too much difference from the international one. Can you dedicate it for testing? It does not need data to be wiped normally, since Ubuntu runs off a container in the data partition but you never know...
I am currently stuck with the GUI and tbh I have no idea when and how this will be resolved. Samsung has done a great job with their GPU and Exynos, but our libhybris part does not want to play with it nicely.
Keep you updated!
BR
Actually I use it as my DD but wouldn't mind testing a few ROMs for the gd of the comm.
Aiite then. Patiently waiting for the update.
I have the international version of S3 GT-i9300. It is currently without a working rom, so I need to find time to see if it will boot with an official rom flashed with odin, it currently has an old clockwork mod recovery installed and a lineage os rom that wont boot..
If I get it working again, then I could dedicate it to testing... I would love to have a phone that was pure linux with phone capabilities... then I would no longer need to use google's linux abomination known as android
Hi,
sorry to say but I stopped now every porting activity, since Canonical dropped Ubuntu Touch and we are struggling on all other frontlines to get the community together for continuing the OS.
There will be no new hardware ports in the near future, which I think will be up to 1 year or 2. By that time, also S-III etc are end of life, since its hard to support multiple generations of smartphones with different kernels properly. Im afraid we are too late...
Anyway, contact me if you want to help in other areas of Ubuntu Touch going UBports community

Hi there,
Florian from UBports. The active devices that we support can be found here: https://devices.ubports.com/#/ - that being said, you wont find the Note 2 there as an active device. What happened in the past I can´t say, but currently we have no ETA to work on new devices.
