Hello dear community,
I recently bought the Motorola Razr Maxx HD for use in germany as I live there and the handset is not available there.
Before buying the phone I made sure it was global ready. On stock rom 4.1.2 I had no issues getting a data connection, all I had to do was edit the APN manually. Happy that it worked I continued messing with my new phone by rooting, unlocking and flashing a costum firmware on the phone.
I tried Carbon rom nightly 27/07/2013 and a port of Vanilla RootBox, sadly both did not want to connect to my carrier after editing APN settings.
What did I forget to do?
Thanks in advance
Edit:
Solved the "issue" for me. Just flashed a xt925 cfw and there we go, network connectivity
A better solution is to flash a x926 rom and to remove/outline this part in the build.prop:
telephony.rilV7NeedCDMALTEPhone=true
Reboot and gsm/umts works.

One sure way to bork your radio is to mess with the band with a phone info app or *#*#4636#*#*. I am sure there other ways to do the same thing. Only fix is a full restore to stock.

I tried that and set the device to gsm only (and other) but there was no receiption nor would the phone recognize my sim card anymore.
The strangest thing was that the network settings kept crashing if I wanted to open them.
I googled a lot, searched in different forums but never found a solution. Then I read somewhere that someone flashed the gsm rom of his phone on his CDMA version and it worked and I thought well what could possibly go wrong as I have a more than one nadroid backup .

No, a nandroid will not fix it. Something gets wrong that the restore cannot fix.
What is a : xt925 cfw? A full restore?

No, with xt925 cfw I meant a rom like Cm 10.1 for the international model.
I too reverted back to a Rage HD 2.0 backup, as there are quite some sound issues with 4.2.2 roms and so far I have no problems with radio.

I have been using an ICS ROM (PrimoS v4.1) on my Desire S for some time with no problems, but recently have tried flashing a number of JB ROMs (e.g Andromadus, CM10 and JellyTime). I have found that when using any of these JB ROM's, I am unable to get a data connection and the APN list is blank. Despite many attempts to add APNs manually or by use of APN backup apps, I have failed to add an APN to the list.
Do I need to update the radio to solve this problem? I never did this when going from original HTC Gingerbread to the ICS ROM.
Please excuse the ignorance on this subject. I've read somewhere that there is a danger of bricking the phone when flashing radios, hence my reluctance to try without good reason!
I live in the UK and use Virgin Mobile.
Current radio is: 20.281.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M
All help appreciated - I've had a tantalising glimpse of the wonders of Jelly Bean and I'm desperate to get my data connection working!
TIA
I can't say whether changing radios will fix your problem. I use Radio 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04 on CM10 and have no problems.

Thanks for the reply BillGoss.
I took the plunge and updated my Radio to 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04 with no problems. My phone continues to work fine with the PrimoS (ICS) ROM, but when I flashed JellyTime, still no APN's and I was unable to create one, hence I can't connect to the 3G network. D'oh!
Correct me if I'm wrong but with ICS you don't have the probelm and with JB you have the problem
that you have no and can not set the APN values, Q, dit you have a clean ROM installed.
I had this problem once when I tested a ICS version with sence 4. Later when I installed a CM10 version
I had no APN so I did a factory reset an de problem was gone. To be sure I wiped al the data on my device
and restored a earlyer nandroid backup. Later I tested a lote of ROMS but so far I don't have the APN issue yet.

Yes HypnoCondor, I always do a full wipe before flashing the ROM. I've now done a ot of Googling and trawling XDA threads and have found that the issue seems to be confined to CyanogenMod-based ROMS, not specifically CM10 and covering a lot of different phones. I'm not techie enough to fully understand, but it seems that CM is not registering the SIM card properly and hence the APN list is always blank and can't be edited/saved manually.
What's particualrly confusing is that I recently flashed the CM10-based CyanogenMod 10 Beta Builds [4.1.2][ANDROMADUS 3.x][Frontcam] ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776256) and much to my surprise it worked! My APN list was populated and all was fine. Unfortunately , after rebooting the phone, the APN's were gone and I've been unable to get them back, despite trying every trick in the book gleaned from XDA users with similar problems.
This is very frustrating, because I really love this ROM
Looks like I'll end up going back to the PrimoS (non-CM, ICS) ROM so that I can get my data connection back when I'm away from WiFi. That's a real bummer, but I'm damned if I've been able to find a fix for this issue.
Just for future reference: being unable to set APN has nothing to do with radio and has everything to do with the ROM you're using. But you've already found that out yourself.

Phosbrom I'm on Virgin and the JellyBean roms you mentioned work great on our service. I'm sure you'll enjoy using them when your new sim arrives :good:
Please bare with me since this is the first time having to post for an issue since I usually find an answer on your forums
So here's the situation.
I bought the photon q 4g lte from ebay and it came with the unlocked bootloader.
Needless to say it was with the stock ics and i tried to find a jellybean update because it wasn't taking the ota and ended up going with cyanogen since i had no problems before. However those phones i had before were with sim cards not cdma.
I found out i couldn't update prl or profile manually without having to do something on the pc.
So after searching left and right i found i could use rsl lite (I used 6.1.5) and eventually found the "stock" file from this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095536&highlight=rsd+lite
I did the stock jellybean, got it to go through the process and it booted up with no errors.
However, when it boots into the os it pops up a force close on omadmclient_sprint_dataservice and eventually also on the process com.android.phone.
I tried putting it in airplane mode to see if the service error would go away but it didn't work for the process part crashing.
I tried re-flashing, deleting cache in recovery, doing a data/factory reset in recovery and the one time i was able to do a data factory reset within the settings menu.
I could not find anyone that said they had a rom that worked with sprint and updating prl within the rom, if anyone knows of one let me know and i will flash it through rsd.
Otherwise does anyone have an idea of what could be happening because googling the omadmclient part did not pull up anything specific and pulling up the process issue for other phones has not helped me either.
Was this a hacked GSM phone, or are you using it as CDMA?
I've never heard of people having FC issues after flashing a FXZ from RSD. Which one did you flash? Android 4.1.2 - Sprint US - 9.8.2Q-122_XT897_FFW-5 (No simlock) ?
If you are on stock, you should be able to update the PRL within the ROM.
I was trying to use it with cdma network through sprint. and yeah that was the file i downloaded, had to remove the getvar to get it working but flashed with no errors after doing that.
As for updating the prl i can barely navigate through the phone, there is no home page loading and the process pop comes up often enough that its hard to go through the settings

Sounds like something went wrong mate. Are you already activated on Sprint? I don't know if that would matter, it might.
I would honestly redownload and redo the RSD process.

I originally tried to activate the phone through cyanogen and then when the rep said he couldnt do it because of the lack of prl to update within the rom we just setup the activation back on the old phone/ That phone is working on the network.
I re-downloaded the file just in case and re-flashed but same problem. The only thing i thought of was maybe updating the radio but since its a stock rom it should work out of the gate. whats also weird is i tried turning wifi on but it didnt work either.
Anychange you know of a rom that works with sprint. I dont care if its stock since i would probably root later again.

Which one are you flashing?
Try another perhaps...? I honestly have never heard of this. It sounds like the phone might be damaged, or the RSD process just did not flash correctly.
I guess I should ask, was the phone modified at all for the GSM SIM slot mod? I wonder if having a non-Sprint SIM in is messing with it... That is just a shot in the dark.

so far the only rom i tried was 10.1 cyanogen and the stock rom for jellybean. However for the stock rom it doesnt let me downgrade to ics with rsd 6.1.5 do you think if i downloaded an old version i could downgrade to a lower stock rom?
Also I honestly had not looked for the cdma roms since most of what i saw was troubleshooting related for this phone but i just saw this rom -AOKP 4.2.2 (Android Open Kang Project) (CDMA&GSM) that you created - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293892
I re-rooted and installed that one and it looks great, just wondered how you got sprint to activate the phone or if you had done it before changing the rom? Also how would the prl and profile be updated.
Lastly the wifi wasn't turning on this time either, it did work initially when i got the phone so that has me stumped.

To downgrade to ICS, you need to remove some additional lines. See this post for more information on that.
However, you should be able to update the PRL on either stock ROM.
I think I said this before, but I will say it again. You need to do PRL updates, activate the phone, and get EVERYTHING working on stock BEFORE you flash ANY custom ROM. This is just standard practice - you don't want to put the cart before the horse! Get the phone working, then play with custom ROM's.
Hi. I've recently got into to ROM'ing on my Razr HD (XT926). I've tried about 3 different ROMs, and I'm currently using the Liquid Smooth ROM. My problem is that with every ROM I've used, the data isn't working. I'm running at&t thanks to modem unlocking the phone. I can make and receive calls as well as receive text messages, however, I can't send text messages and I can't access an Internet connection through the network's data. I've tried doing the modem unlock a few more times, although that hasn't done anything. Has anyone experienced this problem, and is there a way to fix it? Thanks.
Try using the Roms for the xt925.

Sometimes we need to manually set the access point names (APN). It happens to me everytime I flash a new rom. Check on Settings > More... > Mobile networks > Access Point Names, or similar. Now, if missing, you must add every APN your carrier uses to establish a data connection.
Hope it helps.

This sort of worked. I was able to get my connection back, but it keeps flickering on and off. I've tried adding all the APNs, but it will only let me save two. Every time I add another and press the "save" button, nothing happens and the APN doesn't appear. Sometimes I can send text messages whenever the data shows up, but most of the time, it doesn't. This is getting really frustrating.
Anyone on this forum with an XT926 have it running on at&t and on a custom ROM?
Well the xt926 is strictly cdma I believe. While the xt925 is a gsm version.

Glad it "sort of" worked. Not showing anything or more than two APN it's a common bug between roms, as far I can recall it does add them anyway. Just being curious, which rom and build are you using? Are you sure your XT926 is GSM?

I'll give it a go. Whichever ROM I choose won't make a difference, will it? And by "unsteady 4g", you mean HSPA+, correct? Because at times, I can't even make phone calls and the phone isn't even connected to the carrier and I can't even make phone calls.

Has to be the original sw restore-latest version.
If the custom rom is based on 4.2.2 or 4.3 => please check your baseband version. Because the new custom rom is build base on the new baseband firmware.
I use old baseband firmware VANQUISH_BP_1045.711.53.20P on my xt926.
I replace the files on /etc/firmware on the custom rom before flash it to my xt926.
And to make it easier for me I build some flash able zip files that replace the /etc/firmware with the old baseband firmware.

Im a noob so take it easy on me.
I have a motorola droid 4 XT894. I have just flashed a custom rom and now I cant get the internet to work.
Im in Australia and have been using the phone for 6 months with the factory rom with no problems.
I have have tried 2 different rom and both have the sane problem. I tried putting in my APN manually but still no good.
Any suggestions?
Thanks Ken
Hi Guys, I know I am an idiot for not following all those guides properly and now I think I have bricked my device?
Well I am in Australia and I have this G920P model on android 5.1.1 (Unrooted). All was working fine, I bought it second hand from someone, I believe this is a U.S Sprint version, But I had my Telstra sim working in it with 4g data without issues.
So I decided to root it (without backing up- I know my mistake) and then flash XtreStoLite rom (again without doing any backup of original Rom). After that My device did not detect my sim card and there is nothing in the IMEI section of the phone.
I tried to flash official G920P rom via odin which installed successfully, and it shows signal on my phone, let me make calls but No Data. Seems like it is not registering my phone on the network properly.
So what have I done to my phone? Any chances to recover it somehow?

Ok, I have entered my network's pan settings manually and I get can get the data working but it only picks up 3g not 4g. I can make calls too.
But every time i restart the phone it keeps on checking the network status and picks up the signal after 3-4 minutes.
Also its stuck on the Hands Free activation screen and keeps on re-trying it.
Any help would be appreciated if I can get my device back to a normal one. Any other ROM's should i try?
One more question guys, Is there any non - sprint ROM for this device G920P? Because when I bought the device, I had no sprint stuff on it. No boot up splash screen or anything. I did not make note of which build version was it on but it definitely said G920P and it was on android 5.1.1.
Thanks
You may find and extra menu by typing ##scrtn#. I wouldnt reset to defaut as those general would be sprints settings. Try to find your carriers apn settings online. You should be able to cancel the hands free default activation. Are you still rooted?

I am now on a stock rooted rom. Would prefer to have a rooted rom. I have tried installing renegade but it get stuck on finding network and stuck in a loop.

Hmmm.. this morning i have found the stock prerooted rom... If i found the XtreStoLite rom i'll give you an update.
I have no service and no cellular network problem on my N5, running dark rom 7.1.2 aosp, with franco kernel ( never had issues before ), newest radio and bootloader. This started happening when i got my new sim card from my provider and i got 4g signal in my area for the first time. I tried manually selecting radio by going in the hidden menu by entering *#*#4636#*#* and i got lte and full bars signal after selecting band 8 ( 1800 hz ) but only for a minute then it went back to empty triangle. Tried selecting 3g only in preffered network, tried manually selecting provider, tried toggling airplane mode on/off a bunch of times nothing works. Any suggestion would be highly appreciated, i love my N5 very much and i would hate to throw it in a drawer somewhere. Thanks in advance
Flash back to a stock ROM and test it worth your new new.
Does the sim work in another phone?

Were you ever able to get this rectified? I have recently been having this problem as well. I have flashed back to ROMs I was previously using and flashed back to stock to no avail. My SIM card works in other devices as well. I really do not want to have to drop on a new phone, but I have tried every solution I have found online to no avail. I think it's fair to say that I am desperate right now.
edit: I found another thread on XDA that I'm looking into, I'll edit again if it works. I'm unsure how it took me so long to find that thread.
edit2: https://forum.xda-developers.com/go...getting-cdma-networks-to-nougat-roms-t3534679 is the thread that I found useful; I am now running Pure Nexus 7.1.2 with a full connection. Specifically, his second comment about installing 6.0.1 stock, backing up the efs, flashing the desired ROM, then restoring the efs is what ended up fixing it for me.

This morning it's not sticking with Pure Nexus, so I'll be trying DarkRom. I really don't want to use a CAF if I can avoid it, but it may become a necessity. Do people on T-Mobile have this problem?

So I've hit a point where I have 3G and nothing else. I can't yet get LTE to work. I'm using LineageOS CAF. How about yourself?

No luck with aosp by santosh m and pure nexus 7.1.2 , can't even get it to connect. I guess my last hope is caf based i will try lineageos caf. All i need is the efs backup from stock? If i can get it to work with 3g i will be satisfied because i did some digging and found out that my network provider which is Vip MK has no lte support for nexus 5 d820 ( my model ) only 3g, but i can't even connect with 3g selected. I guess because this one is for US frequencies it will not work whatever i try but i will give lineageos caf a chance.

I was able to get 3G only to work on my Nexus 5 by reflashing the EFS from 6.0.1; I'm trying right now to see if I can install PureNexus 6.0.1 then dirty flash to PureNexus 7.1.2 with any success. Also, I might just switch to T-Mobile, but I have to wait until later this week for that.
Hi,
LTE band 8 is not in 1800 MHz but first of all you can check your N5 model - US model is D820 and is not supported for LTE on 1800 MHz (band 3). For 1800 Mhz band you need D821 model.
Regards,

To clarify that:
You had the problem with not recognizing the sim or having no service at all. And you solved this by flashing the sstock 6.0.1 backing up the efs, flashing to Pure Nexus 7.1.2 and restoring the efs immediatley after flashing the rom (+kernel+root+etc)?
This solves this mysterious no sim/no service bug, which many (?) N5 owners experience? If this is true, I'd be really happy

It didn't stick. After I lost it I was unable to get it back. I gave up and switched to T-Mobile, where it is no longer a problem. Apologies for not having more testing information. I was able to get solely 3G on multiple instances, but getting the elusive 4G was beyond me.
I've had this problem before in two nexus, one of them running latest stock and the other a customized ROM. I tried to flash a stock ROM image in both of them with no luck. I was pretty sure that the image I was flashing was the latest, so the radio & bootloader should be flashed to the latest versions. But it didn't worked.
Finally I found on a XDA thread where someone was posting only the latest bootloader & radio to flash. I did it with NRT (in Advanced Utilities) and it worked:

I can't remember or find the thread, so I post the images here:

- Radio-hammerhead-m8974a-2.0.50.2.30.img
I think I had to flash them twice because the first time it wasn't right, but there were 4 months since then and still no failure

Thanks for your input. I'll check that when I have some time. This is really weird as it looks like a hardware problem but if you can fix it with this method it's clearly a software issue...
best regards
