Interesting, most others have reported that Motochopper no longer works with .10.
Oops! Just noticed that although motochopper pushed supersu and it was launching, root is not working

Yes they occasionally do post them.
So has anyone yet figured out a benefit to this update other than killing motochopper (benefit if you're into locking down the world for no good reason, of course)?

Is the manual update available anywhere for the US SKU? I tried to download it from the Asus support website but the file is just completely missing.
I screwed up OTA updates/unlocking somehow when trying to revert to an earlier version so I could reinstall root. By the time I was frustrated enough to finally unlock it, now it won't talk to Asus servers and I can't unlock it.
I can confirm I have Rootkeeper, unrooted before the update as I do all of them, then after the update was able to restore root with no issues. All rooted apps are working fine.

Even the kernel source is already up. The only change in the kernel is that they fixed the bug in the framebuffer that was exploited by Motochopper (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255491 for details).
Is there any information on what this new update is supposed to be for?

Apparently, fixing security bugs. Maybe more (fixing other bugs), but I don't know.
How I installed the latest update on my unlocked Asus
I downloaded the update from Asus.com and extracted the zip file.
I used twrp to flash the update which when rebooted gave a stock rom, recovery and no root. I then then entered fastboot mode and flashed twrp and backed up my stock unrooted rom. I then flashed my backup of Cromi.X 5rc2
I hope this helps people who like me want to install the latest update from Asus

Sure, that method works - but why would you want to do it?
You are replacing your custom rom/recovery with stock just to replace that with a custom rom/recovery/kernel.....??

I do it to make sure that my firmware is always up to date and to have a backup of the latest rom from Asus on my tablet.
This method will also help people that may want to return to stock.
Hello i temp unroot with ota root keeper in .8 after update .10 i don't see icon RESTOR Anyone have this problem ?

Another confirmed case OTA RootKeeper worked.
The first step was I re-enable all the stuff I had disabled. I then used Titanium to make a good backup just in case. After backup completed, I rebooted just to have a clean screen. Went in OTA RootKeeper and do the temp. unroot. Download the update and install. Let the tablet reboot itself and used OTA to restore root.
This was the first time I had a smooth OTA update. The last several messed up (every time) I had to do the full flash to make the tablet useable.

If you have a serial number that starts from earlier B70 and below, use BRK's root toolkit.
Do a search here; I've always used this to root my B60 regardless of the firmware version I have.
Where did you find it? At asus website I see us, cn and tw, but no ww.

Hmm.. I live in Swe.. And got .24
.24 is WW and they written about it in the ota changelog info
Here in France, I got the update late last friday.
I think it'll take some time to get widely distributed.
I'm interested in a rooting solution for my C10 though (never rooted this TF101 before), but I'm not stressed about that.

I couldn't use any root exploit when I upgraded to .24. I bricked my device when I accidentally flashed the wrong kernel on my B70 (gotta clean out that MSD Card), so I got lucky when I was able to get into APX and flash .17, root it using ViperMod (using option number 1 for the tf201), then used Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, upgraded to .21, used VOTA Rootkeeper again to reestablish root (and then used Titanium Backup to fix, as it indicated there was an error with the folder structure), then upgraded to .24 and again, used VOTA rootkeeper and Titanium backup to fix.

Have yoy tested this on the .24?
I used Vipermod to root, Voodoo to protect/restore root and Titanium backup for insurance. Everything worked just fine after .24 upgrade, no issues.
However, there's a noticeable increase in speed. Did anyone else have the same experience with rooted, stock units?
As long as you have CWM can't you just root through that?

This process is the only one that asures a root on .24, been doing it for some friends with TF101 tablets.
you can use peri i think it is the easiest wayn to root
I had the .29 build number on this and it was rooted but then yesterday, i kept getting the update message and kept telling it to postpone for 1 day but it came up after 5 minutes. I got annoyed and just updated it without thinking that my root would be probably gone, and it is gone after the update finished. Any way to obtain root again?
in hind site mate you should get voodoo otsrootkeeper it can make a back up of your root and you can enable it after an ota update, but this is the best and easiest way to get your root back mate

No need to unroot mate just go straight to rooting, and ota rootkeeper work by backing up certain files which you just reinstall and your good to go but it only works with ota updates

It really works. I did the same with mine. Very easy and works as intended .

Either way works fine.
you gotta update to .30 then root mate if your updating manually if you you using ota uates then you can root before or after mate but if you update on .29 you need to use voodoo otarootkeeper to back up your root then just restore it after you update, but this only works with ota updates

When I attempt to restart in recovery on the tf300 (in attempt to root), I get the Android laying on his back with a red triangle "!". It is unlocked....I am a noob and have been unsuccessful in finding an answer, any help would be appreciated!!!. I am running 4.0.3 ... .29..

if u just want to Root, you don't have to restart in recovery mode. i didn't.
also, if ur too scared from writing all those code lines ( like i was )
try first one of the tool ( batch ).

Yeah, but isn't flashing a zip from recovery a bit easier? He's already unlocked. Why should he go through the trouble of learning new rooting methods when he can just flash the root zip in the CWM thread?

After my thread for the TF101, here are my first repackaged OTA updates for the TF700:
First of all let me make this clear:
If you have root and want to keep it, use OTA Rootkeeper.
The original recovery is removed from the blob, so you won't lose your current recovery.
If after flashing one of these zips you still have the OTA update notification, do this:
Go to Settings -> Apps -> All and clear data from DMClient.
Current OTA 9.4.5.26:
US version:
us-9.4.5.22-to-9.4.5.26-TF700-CWM-v1.0.zip MD5: 2C6C763D0A7618E4AB4CB530D714F833
WW version:

AFAIK cwm zips are compatible with TWRP.
It's a generic name which is supported by most recoveries.
(TWRP or CWM) As far as we are able to unlock our TF700... That not my case...
But it's a good news for those who can
Lizard, a better title would be "[ROM][FLASHABLE]" or something. People tend to get very confused when you say "CWM" because they think no other recovery can flash it .

To install NvFlash. I have 9.4.5.30, NvFlash will not install with this Rom version, it has to be before that.

You cannot downgrade from 9.4.5.30 to 9.4.5.26; the 9.4.5.30 bootloader and above accepts only signed bootloaders and the older ones are not signed.

You can no longer able to install nvflash once you already flashed above .26 version, like .30 and up. You're out of luck.

That sucks, I didn't flash .30, it came with it already installed. I'm used to flashing my phones, so it should be no problem flashing my tablet. Thank you very much for your help.
If you've flashed roms on other phones or tablets in the past then you should be fine. Just don't do anything crazy and you shouldn't brick it. I don't have NV Flash capabilities on mine, though I had the chance to but updated my bootloader anyway. Doesn't bother me as I'm not a dev and won't be doing anything crazy on mine. I've done plenty of flashing on many phones and the Asus Prime in the past, so I'm not worried about it

Just be careful to never choose "wipe data" in the bootloader menu without a working (compatible to bootloader) recovery, that is the #1 reason for hard bricks:

Yep, unlocked bootloader. The link you provided is what I've been trying to do. Just like the other person at the end of the thread, I get a signature error during boot and my recovery remains custom with TWRP. I'm not sure what the problem is, this is why I am considering nvflash.

If it's not working for you, you could try to downgrade to .22. Basically, download full .22 version, extract, renamed and copy to your SDcard then use twrp to flash.

you don't have to use nvflash for this,just download JB from Asus site and install with TWRP,done.Why you need o complicate your life?

haha, I doubt that anyone here have tried to go directly from .26 to JB, You probably the first if you try. Why don't you twrp to .30 and let the OTA to JB? based on my knowledge, OTA upgrade one version at a time.

OK let start over. This is how i would do this:
1. Downloaded .26 from Asus site.
2. Unzip and moved the zipfile inside to root of internal sd card.( /mnt/sdcard)
3. Rebooted, your device should found the update and prompt you to update, flashed the update. You should be back on .26 with stock recovery and unrooted.
4. Reroot and download OTA root keeper to save root. Run root keeper to save root
5. OTA to .30. (if OTA is not working, let me know).

Sure if you want to, download .30. Tablet should pick it up, make sure you unzip it first. Yes, you're correct you have to upgrade using manual process. Every methods here on XDA are not 100% work for everyone (you already knew that). But it should work for most ppl.

Mate do you actually know what you are saying? The JB firmware from Asus site it's a full rom not just an OTA (incremental) update, this means you can update from any version (do you see any word from Asus saying you must be on. 30 before installing?) because everything will be updated (BL, Kernel, etc) so installing this with TWRP will get you Full Stock JB (yes, you will loose twrp too).

I'm not disagree with you! just saying no one here have tried to go straight before. The only question here is the bootloader between .26 and JB is different and why Asus pre upgrade to .30 before JB? IDK, maybe there is a reason, maybe not. Some how I think they need to prep the bootloader on .30 to be ready for JB? again I don't know.

The only question here is the bootloader between .26 and JB is different and why Asus pre upgrade to .30 before JB? IDK, maybe there is a reason, maybe not. Some how I think they need to prep the bootloader on .30 to be ready for JB? again I don't know.

My personal opinion on that is that Asus did this because they made a mess by letting people install TF300T Jelly Bean on TF700T (that should never be possible with locked bootloader and official firmware) so they updated the bootloader on .30 update so ppl could downgrade from that tf300t Jelly Bean rom.Maybe i'm wrong,but it does make sense and if i'm not wrong TF700T is the only transformer device that can downgrade from JB to ICS so easily.
Good news, I was able to flash .30 and now jb. I had no idea it was that simple. I thought I had to be back on stock recovery. Thanks for the help guys.

Guys you can just install the JB firmware from asus. Unzip, flash that file in twrp and boom straight from .26 to JB with no issues. It even keeps all your data.
Before I upgraded to JB, I saved the root with OTA Root keeper and after upgrading I restored back root with it but none of my application that require root are working. In OTA Root Keeper it has all the all the checkboxes checked (except Root Permission Granted). I have installed SuperUser and also tried Su but it does not work.
Any suggestion?
reboot the Infinity and then check in OTA RootKeeper and see if it still reports root.

Has anyone confirmed that this will work on ASUS tablets?
Restarting did not fix anything so I installed Root Checker from market and it is saying that I do not have proper root permissions.
In OTA Rootkeeper, it is not showing temp unroot, is it? Also check Superuser app (info page)....
...also lost root!
I have the same probs like the others befor.
- Did a clean install of FW .30
- Then rooted the Infinity with "One-Click" Method ...every thing´s fine!
- Installed Root-Keeper and did backup
- Installed the JB Update from internal SD
...restarted the Pad and lost Root!
I checked it with Root-Keeper and there is no BackUp!
PLEASE HELP!
I did the same but in superuser I also enabled OTA keeper under info. That might have made a difference.

Eexact same thing happened to me. You will need to downgrade to .30 to restore root. Instructions are in the all-in-one thread. This time, do the temp unroot option in rootkeeper before installing jb.

Because no one has finished the extremely time consuming and hard work and found one yet. If you need root just unlock and flash SU.

OTA rootkeeper only works for OTA updates. If you install using the internal SD method you will lose root because it erases the files OTA rootkeeper puts there. Sorry there is nothing you can do to get root back unless you have an unlocked bootloader.
To OP:
Chances are you forgot to temp unroot before doing the OTA, many people are reporting rootkeeper failed if they forgot to temp unroot before OTA.
Try manually installing superuser, maybe that will do it
Check with an app like root checker
If you already have superuser installed try uninstalling and reinstalling it, sometimes that works if its just superuser being annoying.

Just to give an update, I was able to re-root but only after downgrading to ICS. I downgraded to ICS, rooted the device and then upgraded it to JB. Everything is good now.

It's not working for me...
From ICS 9.4.5.30 I rooted using DebugFS, which installed superuser
Then installed RootKeeper, click on Protect Root, then click on Temp Un-Root
Upgraded to JB 10.4.4.16 through SD card
Open RootKeeper but no Restore button is there
I have unlocked bootloaders prior to all that.
Please help me. This is quite frustrating.
