I had the .29 build number on this and it was rooted but then yesterday, i kept getting the update message and kept telling it to postpone for 1 day but it came up after 5 minutes. I got annoyed and just updated it without thinking that my root would be probably gone, and it is gone after the update finished. Any way to obtain root again?
in hind site mate you should get voodoo otsrootkeeper it can make a back up of your root and you can enable it after an ota update, but this is the best and easiest way to get your root back mate

No need to unroot mate just go straight to rooting, and ota rootkeeper work by backing up certain files which you just reinstall and your good to go but it only works with ota updates

It really works. I did the same with mine. Very easy and works as intended .

Either way works fine.
you gotta update to .30 then root mate if your updating manually if you you using ota uates then you can root before or after mate but if you update on .29 you need to use voodoo otarootkeeper to back up your root then just restore it after you update, but this only works with ota updates

if u just want to Root, you don't have to restart in recovery mode. i didn't.
also, if ur too scared from writing all those code lines ( like i was )
try first one of the tool ( batch ).

Yeah, but isn't flashing a zip from recovery a bit easier? He's already unlocked. Why should he go through the trouble of learning new rooting methods when he can just flash the root zip in the CWM thread?

If you have a serial number that starts from earlier B70 and below, use BRK's root toolkit.
Do a search here; I've always used this to root my B60 regardless of the firmware version I have.
Where did you find it? At asus website I see us, cn and tw, but no ww.

Hmm.. I live in Swe.. And got .24
.24 is WW and they written about it in the ota changelog info
Here in France, I got the update late last friday.
I think it'll take some time to get widely distributed.
I'm interested in a rooting solution for my C10 though (never rooted this TF101 before), but I'm not stressed about that.

I couldn't use any root exploit when I upgraded to .24. I bricked my device when I accidentally flashed the wrong kernel on my B70 (gotta clean out that MSD Card), so I got lucky when I was able to get into APX and flash .17, root it using ViperMod (using option number 1 for the tf201), then used Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, upgraded to .21, used VOTA Rootkeeper again to reestablish root (and then used Titanium Backup to fix, as it indicated there was an error with the folder structure), then upgraded to .24 and again, used VOTA rootkeeper and Titanium backup to fix.

Have yoy tested this on the .24?
I used Vipermod to root, Voodoo to protect/restore root and Titanium backup for insurance. Everything worked just fine after .24 upgrade, no issues.
However, there's a noticeable increase in speed. Did anyone else have the same experience with rooted, stock units?
As long as you have CWM can't you just root through that?

This process is the only one that asures a root on .24, been doing it for some friends with TF101 tablets.

You could try to flash Superuser with this recovery and maybe it will work.If after you flashed the Superuser zip you still don't have root,downoad the SuperSU app from market.

How would one flash back to .30 if they're already on JB? I did the same thing...updated to JB without saving root. I do have an unlocked bootloader.

Now to finally start tweaking/debloating it. I can't believe this BLOATED STOCK firmware runs as "smoothly" as it does, compared to stock .22, stock .26 and stock .30 it is hands down worth the hassle.
I have JB that has portrait mode, IPS+ and I can still plug my NTFS formatted portable hard drive into it, that NEVER worked on any of the custom JB roms working around the 2.6.x kernel.
now to see how vnc-loopback-linux-over-android works!
all the excitement, all over again. I've only had this thing for a little over two weeks, but it's so much fun. I love being on the ground floor with new devices, so many risky experimental things to try.

Yes, you can follow the soft brick recovery in the "All-In-One" thread to downgrade from JB to ICS .30 without unlocking your boot loader.
So, let me get this straight.
Revert to .30, then root, then use Superuser (I have Elite) to OTA save, then apply the JB update, then use Superuser to un OTA save?

OK, if you plan to stay on stock the rest of your life then just do the OTA upgrade, however, if you going to mod your tab, then couple things you have to do first and they are very important as it will be your life saving some day.
1. Root and Unlock your device and install latest CWM (not twrp, this one will not work once you on JB)
2. Use NVflash tool to make a backup of your bootloader (very important, life saving).You can not do this step once you on .30 so you are one of a few very lucky person here.
3. Install Voodoo OTA root keeper to temporary save root and restore root after the upgrade.

I'm on .26 with TRWP installed and am having issues restoring stock recovery. I want to upgrade to .30, then jb. My only known alternative is to use Nvflash. So, can someone point me in the direction of instructions for this process?

Yep, unlocked bootloader. The link you provided is what I've been trying to do. Just like the other person at the end of the thread, I get a signature error during boot and my recovery remains custom with TWRP. I'm not sure what the problem is, this is why I am considering nvflash.

If it's not working for you, you could try to downgrade to .22. Basically, download full .22 version, extract, renamed and copy to your SDcard then use twrp to flash.

you don't have to use nvflash for this,just download JB from Asus site and install with TWRP,done.Why you need o complicate your life?

haha, I doubt that anyone here have tried to go directly from .26 to JB, You probably the first if you try. Why don't you twrp to .30 and let the OTA to JB? based on my knowledge, OTA upgrade one version at a time.

OK let start over. This is how i would do this:
1. Downloaded .26 from Asus site.
2. Unzip and moved the zipfile inside to root of internal sd card.( /mnt/sdcard)
3. Rebooted, your device should found the update and prompt you to update, flashed the update. You should be back on .26 with stock recovery and unrooted.
4. Reroot and download OTA root keeper to save root. Run root keeper to save root
5. OTA to .30. (if OTA is not working, let me know).

Sure if you want to, download .30. Tablet should pick it up, make sure you unzip it first. Yes, you're correct you have to upgrade using manual process. Every methods here on XDA are not 100% work for everyone (you already knew that). But it should work for most ppl.

Mate do you actually know what you are saying? The JB firmware from Asus site it's a full rom not just an OTA (incremental) update, this means you can update from any version (do you see any word from Asus saying you must be on. 30 before installing?) because everything will be updated (BL, Kernel, etc) so installing this with TWRP will get you Full Stock JB (yes, you will loose twrp too).

I'm not disagree with you! just saying no one here have tried to go straight before. The only question here is the bootloader between .26 and JB is different and why Asus pre upgrade to .30 before JB? IDK, maybe there is a reason, maybe not. Some how I think they need to prep the bootloader on .30 to be ready for JB? again I don't know.

My personal opinion on that is that Asus did this because they made a mess by letting people install TF300T Jelly Bean on TF700T (that should never be possible with locked bootloader and official firmware) so they updated the bootloader on .30 update so ppl could downgrade from that tf300t Jelly Bean rom.Maybe i'm wrong,but it does make sense and if i'm not wrong TF700T is the only transformer device that can downgrade from JB to ICS so easily.
Good news, I was able to flash .30 and now jb. I had no idea it was that simple. I thought I had to be back on stock recovery. Thanks for the help guys.

Guys you can just install the JB firmware from asus. Unzip, flash that file in twrp and boom straight from .26 to JB with no issues. It even keeps all your data.
Just got it pushed. Still rootable with Motochopper. Still can't unlock :/

Interesting, most others have reported that Motochopper no longer works with .10.
Oops! Just noticed that although motochopper pushed supersu and it was launching, root is not working

Is the manual update available anywhere for the US SKU? I tried to download it from the Asus support website but the file is just completely missing.
I screwed up OTA updates/unlocking somehow when trying to revert to an earlier version so I could reinstall root. By the time I was frustrated enough to finally unlock it, now it won't talk to Asus servers and I can't unlock it.
I can confirm I have Rootkeeper, unrooted before the update as I do all of them, then after the update was able to restore root with no issues. All rooted apps are working fine.

Even the kernel source is already up. The only change in the kernel is that they fixed the bug in the framebuffer that was exploited by Motochopper (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255491 for details).

Apparently, fixing security bugs. Maybe more (fixing other bugs), but I don't know.
How I installed the latest update on my unlocked Asus
I downloaded the update from Asus.com and extracted the zip file.
I used twrp to flash the update which when rebooted gave a stock rom, recovery and no root. I then then entered fastboot mode and flashed twrp and backed up my stock unrooted rom. I then flashed my backup of Cromi.X 5rc2
I hope this helps people who like me want to install the latest update from Asus

I do it to make sure that my firmware is always up to date and to have a backup of the latest rom from Asus on my tablet.
This method will also help people that may want to return to stock.
Hello i temp unroot with ota root keeper in .8 after update .10 i don't see icon RESTOR Anyone have this problem ?
My root is totally failed ? (i root it with motochopper in .8)
Another confirmed case OTA RootKeeper worked.
The first step was I re-enable all the stuff I had disabled. I then used Titanium to make a good backup just in case. After backup completed, I rebooted just to have a clean screen. Went in OTA RootKeeper and do the temp. unroot. Download the update and install. Let the tablet reboot itself and used OTA to restore root.
This was the first time I had a smooth OTA update. The last several messed up (every time) I had to do the full flash to make the tablet useable.
