Any root that works on the stock new 9.2.1.24 WW?

Never rooted my TF101.. But now need root to be able to install an important app..
I have searched the web and didnt find any info for the new 9.2.1.24
So is there any working root?

If you have a serial number that starts from earlier B70 and below, use BRK's root toolkit.
Do a search here; I've always used this to root my B60 regardless of the firmware version I have.

Where did you find it? At asus website I see us, cn and tw, but no ww.
Today a new .21 showed to de devices, but still no .24 ww.

Hmm.. I live in Swe.. And got .24
.24 is WW and they written about it in the ota changelog info

Here in France, I got the update late last friday.
I think it'll take some time to get widely distributed.
I'm interested in a rooting solution for my C10 though (never rooted this TF101 before), but I'm not stressed about that.

I couldn't use any root exploit when I upgraded to .24. I bricked my device when I accidentally flashed the wrong kernel on my B70 (gotta clean out that MSD Card), so I got lucky when I was able to get into APX and flash .17, root it using ViperMod (using option number 1 for the tf201), then used Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, upgraded to .21, used VOTA Rootkeeper again to reestablish root (and then used Titanium Backup to fix, as it indicated there was an error with the folder structure), then upgraded to .24 and again, used VOTA rootkeeper and Titanium backup to fix.

Have yoy tested this on the .24?

I used Vipermod to root, Voodoo to protect/restore root and Titanium backup for insurance. Everything worked just fine after .24 upgrade, no issues.
However, there's a noticeable increase in speed. Did anyone else have the same experience with rooted, stock units?

As long as you have CWM can't you just root through that?

im newbee in android devices.
I have eepad transformer TF101 with SN B60XXXXX
I have actually a 9.2.1.24 build with ICS 4.0.3
and want to know if it is possible to root it.
If is it possible how can i do ?
I installed adb from android sdk i can load adb shell and connect to my device but I don't know if i have to downgrade or if I can root it from this build.
I also avec superuser application but nothing appears on it.
Can someone help me please.

You can root latest with my PERI tool, or using Nvflash.

This process is the only one that asures a root on .24, been doing it for some friends with TF101 tablets.

you can use peri i think it is the easiest wayn to root

I have seen this discussed in several places, but I think a formal thread on the issue is in order.
Jelly Bean Has been updated with rock solid security and, so far, the only known way to root Jelly Bean at the moment is to unlock the bootloader and flash the su binary from a custom recovery. It is possible, however unlikely, that some dev will find a way to root jellybean that doesn't require unlocking.
If you wish to have root access with Jelly Bean without unlocking, it is highly reccomended that you root your tablet before updating.
Before updating, download the SuperSU app from the market, and let it update the su binary (Rootkeeper has failed to keep root with Superuser on the tf300). Make a backup withVoodoo OTA Rootkeeper. If there already exists a backup, delete it and backup again so that your backup is the SuperSU binary.

Both can be installed. Just make sure SuperSU updates the binary so that it becomes the dominant app.

There's no upside to keeping Superuser if you have SuperSU installed. I deleted it to avoid any confusion personally.

My tf700 is due to arrive next Wednesday and I assume it will want to update when I start setting it up and rooting it, can I dismiss the update notice until I am ready?

Also if it has pre .30 firmware you might consider unlocking it and creating the nvflash files for it if you ever plan on doing anything beyond rooting.

I've lost root with .26 and .30. have always been able to re root with debugfs.
how can i maintain root this time? i use voodoo each time, and i have deleted su copy, then resaved it, that didn't work last time either.
i have superuser AND supersu installed. i can't uninstall superuser.
if i buy the pro key for supersu, will that save my root?

Man, I'd root if I could but I haven't had any luck. I run DebugFS and it seems to be only partially rooted. Sometimes the Superuser log shows the shell was given access. Root Explorer seems OK. But Superuser Update Fixer, Titanium, Root Checker, Terminal Emulator, and MyBackup all say they've been denied. I don't know what else to do. I've tried all the various fixes in the forums.

Also to note you need to be rooted to use the SuperSU app. I have always been rooted via debugfs method and decided I wanted to preserve come JB. I installed SuperSU and it asked for root permissions. After that I ran the binary updater, and then deleted superuser. THEN I went to OTARootkeeper and deleted old backup, and rebacked up. Now when programs ask for root access the SuperSU asks for root permissions so I know it's worked.

What is "the binary updater"? Last OTA, I had SuperSU and Voodoo OTA and lost root, so I'm a bit concerned there may be something I should have done that I missed. I currently have SuperSU (uninstalled old Superuser) and Voodoo OTA. All the boxes are checked on my Voodoo OTA dialog including "protected su backup".

I can't see what the problem is. Make sure all of the checkboxes are checked in Voodoo and you should be good to go. superuser can be uninstalled using the root uninstaller app.

Root with debugfs seems to be iffy. Try opening the superuser app, then switch out of it. If superuser is running in the background, the apps should be granted root access.

Also, to restore, you just:
1. Run SuperSU manually once
2. Run Voodoo OTA and restore
In that order, right?

By default does OTA Rootkeeper keep the SuperSU or Superuser APK? I had SuperSU installed before installing and backing up root. Was curious if I am good to go, or if I will have to redo it?

Whichever app manages root access at the time the backup is made, it backs up the binary for that app.If that binary is the supersu binary than you're good to go. The apk and the binary are separate files though. if you loose the app, you can simply reinstall it from the market. The binary requires root access to manage.

I just picked up my infinity today and want to root it but I usually keep it stock for a little does this mean if I'm on .30 I have to root before I take the job update?

we just don't know if the root method will work after the jb update. we also don't know if a rootkeeper will even work but might as well root now as then you have 2 possible methods of obtaining root once you get the jb update.

if you want to root, i would definitely do it now. mainly because the process if very easy and MOST people have had no problems with it. We're not sure what will happen once JB comes out though.
as for unlocking, i'm not too sure. only thing to be aware of would be that you won't get the OTA after unlocked so you would have to flash it manually. though at that point, you may just go flash some custom roms. just take those into consideration and see what is more important to you.

lost root on my tf700 when i updated to .18

So just wondering I have OTA root keeper and superuser SU but i guess when i went from .16 to .18 somehow OTA root keeper lost my root and now I am un rooted without a way to get it back from what I can tell is there anyway to recover this since at one point I did have a protected su with root keeper.

Try this, download superuser (not superSU), open the app, then download OTA rootkeeper, install and open up, see if you have the "restore" option.

Gave it a try its detecting but doesn't seem the SU survived the OTA update here are some pic's of what I got when I tried it if it helps

Somebody know how fix it? I want unlock bootloader, but i worried about warranty. If i can lock bootloader later when i need it, i will unlock tf700 quickly. Unless i`m wrong

Currently this is NO WAY to relock bootloader after you unlocked, so if you want just root your device for now.

I had backed up root with Voodoo OTA RootKeeper SuperSU but lost root in the last update. I uninstalled Voodoo, and then reinstalled it and my root was back.

Give this a shot, open up your superuser and keep it opens, also download SuperSU, open it up also, then download and reinstall OTA root keeper, launch the program and see if you have the option to restore root. I think you should have check the option "protect" root before the update. If you only use "temp unroot", sometime it works sometime it doesn't.

Confirmed. I already had Superuser (and Elite!) installed, as well as Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, from my trials with the last upgrade.
After installing the update, I simply opened Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, restore root, closed Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, re-opened Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper (to verify all 5 check marks show up) and then ran Titanium to make sure it was able to obtain root privileges, and finally verified that the su binary was the most current in Superuser.
Worked like a charm.

i had a copy of su,
and temp unrooted.
but i installed the zip file. could that be the reason? (cause on the fly always failed!)
tried to uninstall voodoo and reinstall. open superuser and super SU and then open ota,
all didn't work.
any idea?

I did the swap from prime to infinity. I rooted and installed OTA rootkeeper immediately.
An ICS and JellyBean upgrade later I used it to restore root.
I don't know why it is failing for others

If you use ota or the dlpkgfile it works, with zip files it does not work!

OTA Rootkeeper failed to protect my root after updating to JB from ICS

Twice I have updated from ICD to JB after getting root on ICS then saving my root with OTA.. however after I get into JB and launch OTA, there is no option to restore root.
Superuser is checked and so is /system supports root protection..
can i get some help? do i have to use SU Elite? :/

Did you temp unroot before accepting the OTA? I don't think it works unless you do this step.

I have reverted and upgraded 3 times and never "temp unrooted"
If you have a file explorer look for: /system/usr/we-need-root/su-backup
If that exists and if the perms are correct you can regain root. There are guides (I don't know where) but they walk you through regaining root.

I had OTA RK and it didn't work for me either, for some strange reason I never found out. I installed SuperSU from the Play Store and that worked. It's been a loooooooooooong time since I had stock ROM though, so YMMV.

Yeah, several guides suggest that you might have "partial root" and that rmoving/reinstalling supersu restores full root access.

Okay so this is getting a little frustrating now..
I never did untemp before with OTA and so i tried that. I rooted at ICS, saved the root with OTA and then untemp rooted and then upgraded to JB.. however I think i got a partial root because when I look at the OTA app again in JB there was no option to restore root..
so i tried SU E and it saus SU binary not found, i had only checked OTA survival though but there was two apps under the allow list: Root Checker Basic and Superuser. After unckecking ota survival i couldnt recheck them though. So here i am stuck on JB without root again. I have not tried bluewr post yet which i am about to. Also i hope flash still works in jb

Flash will work, you just need to install it either in ICS, or after as a third party app, as Google play doesn't allow download, only update now.
And try either SuperSU or Super User only, not both, and before temp unroot, be sure to update the binary on which ever one you use.

The trick is once you rooted, you need to launch superuser, and it will auto update your binary, then install OTA root keeper., then save root, then temp unroot, then upgrade, then use ota to restore root.

Interesting, most others have reported that Motochopper no longer works with .10.

Oops! Just noticed that although motochopper pushed supersu and it was launching, root is not working

Yes they occasionally do post them.

So has anyone yet figured out a benefit to this update other than killing motochopper (benefit if you're into locking down the world for no good reason, of course)?

"Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper v2.0.3 preserved root. Did a temp unroot before installing the upgrade then restored and all root needing apps e.g. Titanium are happy."

Is the manual update available anywhere for the US SKU? I tried to download it from the Asus support website but the file is just completely missing.
I screwed up OTA updates/unlocking somehow when trying to revert to an earlier version so I could reinstall root. By the time I was frustrated enough to finally unlock it, now it won't talk to Asus servers and I can't unlock it.

I can confirm I have Rootkeeper, unrooted before the update as I do all of them, then after the update was able to restore root with no issues. All rooted apps are working fine.

Even the kernel source is already up. The only change in the kernel is that they fixed the bug in the framebuffer that was exploited by Motochopper (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255491 for details).

Is there any information on what this new update is supposed to be for?

Apparently, fixing security bugs. Maybe more (fixing other bugs), but I don't know.

How I installed the latest update on my unlocked Asus
I downloaded the update from Asus.com and extracted the zip file.
I used twrp to flash the update which when rebooted gave a stock rom, recovery and no root. I then then entered fastboot mode and flashed twrp and backed up my stock unrooted rom. I then flashed my backup of Cromi.X 5rc2
I hope this helps people who like me want to install the latest update from Asus

Sure, that method works - but why would you want to do it?
You are replacing your custom rom/recovery with stock just to replace that with a custom rom/recovery/kernel.....??

I do it to make sure that my firmware is always up to date and to have a backup of the latest rom from Asus on my tablet.
This method will also help people that may want to return to stock.

Another confirmed case OTA RootKeeper worked.
The first step was I re-enable all the stuff I had disabled. I then used Titanium to make a good backup just in case. After backup completed, I rebooted just to have a clean screen. Went in OTA RootKeeper and do the temp. unroot. Download the update and install. Let the tablet reboot itself and used OTA to restore root.
This was the first time I had a smooth OTA update. The last several messed up (every time) I had to do the full flash to make the tablet useable.
