I know there are a few Navigon threads but they are for other phones than the Nexus and quite old. The Navigon site says there is a try and buy, but it doesn't show on the market. Not sure if it's because I am rooted. Whatever, I have bought the app anyway because I have had good experiences with the Navigon units here in the states in the past.
So far the app has installed and when running it for the first time, Navigon says it will download about 2gb's of data (thank god I just bought a 16gb microSD lol). Also it is recommended that the phone be in a charger and connected to a wlan so a constant connection can be held to download such a large file. Also danger of being throttled lol by tmo lol...but thats another thread altogether.
So far so good downloading but it's 15% done with 36 min to go on the download. Thank goodness my boss just installed a wireless router in the office!
I'll update with any new news on the product once downloaded.
Went home for lunch and used Navigon for the first time. Out of the box, the voice prompts are WAY to low. I could hardly hear anything. I maxed out the app volume and no change. I then went to the sound settings and maxed out everything, prior, I had my notifications tone set pretty low, but once I maxed the notification sound, the Navigon came to life!! Kinda silly IMO. Not media but notification volume!?
Next I figured I turn on my bluetooth and connect to my blueant S4. I have the 1.5 software (downloading the 1.6 update now). And the Navigon does route to the S4 but also the handset itself! I'll update if the blueant update fixes that or not.
Now using it as a plain jane navigator, I think is on par with the Navigon products I have used in the past. It works pretty well, but the newer roads have not been updated as of yet, but google maps have the updated/newer roads. I am in San Antonio, about a half hour from the downtown area so there is a lot of new roads being built.
Conclusion:
The short and dirty of it is that the Navigon is pretty steep in price (~$39.98USD) for the first two weeks and then increases in price to a whopping (~$59.98USD). Is it worth it? I'd say try co-pilot first because 1. it's cheaper even with the traffic add-on and 2. You can always try Navigon after you decide if co-pilot doesn't jive with what you want to do.
The only other plus is that if you cannot get a cell signal to run the navigation (a la google nav), you can use the downloaded 2gb file as a guide and the app will reconnect once it receives a signal.
how does it handle music apps. I mean if you have music playing on, does it pause the music (or reduce music volume) during voice guidance?

Haven't tested that part out yet. Will report back once I do. Thanks for reminding me, even though I do not really use the music player in the car all that much.
Music a no-go...
...when used with Navigon. Both are on at the same time and no volume lowering is done on the music side when the prompts are spoken.

Hi, I was wondering if you got a fix for this or not? I'm getting the same problem with my Desire HD - I'm not sure if the problem is the phone, the S4, or Navigon. The S4 came with 1.6 firmware so there's nothing to upgrade to. I've emailed both Blueant and Navigon support, but my 24 hour trial period is up, so I've uninstalled for now.
Hope you can help! Thanks.

No same issue when updated to 1.6 on the blueant. Currently Navigon is my backup navi.
Thanks. I emailed Navigon, who said they don't support A "Bluetooth audio only" option, but CoPilot handles the audio perfectly. Unfortunately it doesn't seem nearly as good at finding routes.
Do you know if this is this specific to the S4?

Not 100% but I found that the Navigon uses the same tones from the notification settings. Meaning one needs to increase the volume on the notification settings to hear the voice prompts rather than media, which I think would best fit. If they did that, the navigon software may work via bt audio, but I am no coder, but just speculating.
I am now using this as my backup navi because in some areas in TX, there are very spotty territories for 3g even edge coverage for tmobile usa, so having this is a plus in my opinion, but was it worth the hefty pricetag? I have to say no if you are looking for this as a primary navi software. I would rather pay some additional cash for a dedicated gps unit.
BUT, using this had me thinking back to my Sony Ericsson days where I used a gps puck to use as a gps navi. amAzegps.com First off its friggin free lol, worldwide coverage, multilanguage support and pretty accurate for a free gps. I haven't used this in a few years but I am glad it is still around. It is a nice proggy. I would suggest all who cannot use google or want to try an alternate navi program.
Thanks, that's interesting. I noticed that CoPilot's changelog specifically listed fixes for BT handsfree, so I guess they are more interested in compatibility with different BT devices. I can understand it's hard for Navigon to ensure compatibility with every bit of hardware, but this particular problem does seem to be due the way they stream the sound to the BT device, so must be fixable.
I'm using CoPilot now, and it works well enough, but if I choose to go a different route to the one suggested, rather than calculating a new route, it keeps telling me to do a U-turn around and go back. Still, I don't use the satnav every day, so it's probably good enough for what I need.
Just got an update on the Navigon. Not sure what the update was. No changelog I can find and I could not find it in the market anymore for some reason.
On vacation right now attending my brothers wedding out of state. So I'll report back if there were any changes.
Anyone else?
Unfortunately I gave up and switched to CoPilot, but I did learn here that the CarUI app on the market has a fix for the bluetooth issue, if you start MobileNavigator from CarUI.
Running slacker premium. While streaming music over 3g/4g the music will pause at around 10-15 seconds. Then resume a few seconds later. This is happening on my phone while it was unrooted and rooted . Can someone test this out with a slacker free or premium account on the G2x?
This did not happen on my N1
i have a free account. it did this to me at work the other day. i thought it was my bt headphones. but it started streaming normally after awhile. then next day it gave me problems loading. used winamp that day. it seems spotty so far. will test at work again tomorrow. i only get edge in my house.
I'm having issues as well. Songs just wont play and if they do they only play for a few seconds regardless of whether im on wifi or 3g. Going to contact them about it since it seems to be a device specific issue.
EDIT: Just tried it on my Vibrant over wifi and am having the same issues on that device also.
Try xiialive.
This application allows custom URL and it runs smoothly on G2x and X10.
slacker released an update earlier. streaming works perfectly now
I'm running the stock ROM and Slacker continues to freeze on me, even if I am listening to cached content.
Yeah the slacker app hasn't worked at all for me even after it was updated after the big upgraded. Tempted to cancel my service, as I was only in it for the caching
i use my sirius/xm app for 2-3 hours on a typical day
ever since i got the G2X the stream cuts out about every 5-10 minutes. only way to get it to reconnect is to exit the app and open it back up.
anyone else have a similar issue?
*this is over the network or over wifi, neither one stays connected. (wifi is set to never sleep)
XM has been weird for me, as well. I'll get it looping - I can listen for 5-20mins, and then it will choke & start back at the beginning of that session. I have to pause it & play again to get it back on track.

yep exact same thing happens to me as well. same 5-10min loop will play over and over till i pause/play.
its definitely only an issue on the g2x because i never had any streaming issues with the n1. just the once in a while disconnect.
Same here - my Vibrant would choke occasionally, and even loop a minute or so forcing the pause/play. But the G2x is having worse issues - possibly related to the 4G/WiFi problem, I think.

I had a few issues with Sirius on my N1 with CM7, few random stops after 10-15 mins regardless of wifi or cell
Ive only used the app for about 30mins on my G2x but no issues so far
I listen to Sirius about 6 hours a day using the app. When I first started I had the issues mentioned here - mainly replaying/looping, as well as losing the connection. But they don't seem to be occurring as frequently now. I want to say that it might have had something to do with the network connection and switching between 2g/4g - I now lock it in using 4g (WCDMA Only in phone settings). My app does seem to go thru periods when it will shutdown and then when I click on it, it is restarting. The iphone app was much more stable.
There is chatter about "SiriusXM 2.0," which I hope they support with a new app release.
Now off I go to find where I need to reset all my stations for on Wednesday.... (If these a-holes are going to re-set the stations, they should go to the trouble of syncing them up between services!)
-bZj
I can tell there's a framework issue in G2x because streamfurious doesn't work with G2x (broken pipe then stop) while it works with ALL other Android phones/tablets.
Hopefully the future 2.3 update will fix it.
I put CM7 on my G2x last night. I will see if it makes any difference.
Just out of curiosity, what kind of battery life are you guys getting when you stream Sirius?
If I'm streaming, I'm plugged in. I only stream when I'm driving to/from work.

G2x in effect....

i'm actually in the exact same boat. even if i'm streaming while at work i'm plugged in, so i'm not sure as to the battery drain.
i know on my n1 i never used to plug it in, even while driving to/from work. but since the battery is so terrible on the g2x i'm pretty much always plugged in.
It was stuck in a long loop today while listening to Howard Stern, such a long loop in fact i wasnt sure it was even a loop. it played out 3 or 4 times and went back to normal
Why arent there other apps to stream Sirius other than the official app? I'd like to get rid of my damn iPhone but one of the reasons I cant is because it streams Sirius so well, I use the MusicDock app.

Before the SiriusXM App had Howard, I used Orb Live along with the SiriusXM Streamer (http://www.permanence.com/sirius/) on my home pc to stream to my phone. I believe Orb is also available for Android. The Orb Stream can also be accessed via a website/interface, mycast.orb.com, if you don't want to use the app (or pay the $10 ~ which is kind of pricey).
Initially I had issues with SXM app on Android, but now I use it everyday for 6+ hours with minimal issues and running on 2g.
HTH
Thanks, ill give it a try

I've installed ORB Media and ORB Live both on my G2X - worked with the stock ROM but FC on the CM7 ones.
Today i was listening to Sirus in the car via the Starmate replay and noticed a few shorter loops, I wonder if the loops we have heard before are from the APP or if its something on the sirius side.
I haven't been able to listen to Sirius today since they changed the channel lineup - even using WiFi. Anyone else experiencing issues?
I am having the same looping issue on my Samsung Galaxy SII, no real fix for the problem?
I've had my unlocked Sony Xperia Z5 for about a month now, and I'm quite happy with it. I decided to root it after I found out the bootloader was unlockable, and that was mostly just so I could run a handful of apps that need it like f.lux or AdAway. I was able to root without my phone having to factory reset or anything, too; I didn't have to sign in with my Google account or anything again. I've also had zero problems with the supposed DRM on the phone, and the audio features all seem to work just fine. I am running Marshmallow with otherwise no problems as well.
However, one thing continues to elude me, and I've yet to find a single answer to it for several weeks. When I use the Music app, I can bring out the sidebar and scroll down to a setting that says "Podcast". I originally tried it out a few months ago on an Xperia C4 at a local store on display, and I was able to search up podcasts I normally listen to. When I got my hands on my Z5, I wanted to use that feature and add some podcasts in there. That way, I could have the music app handle podcasts instead of me having to use a separate app.
Now here's where my problem comes in. Whenever I open up the podcast option, the same thing always happens. Every single time. I'll click "Podcast" on the sidebar in the Music app, I'll see the "No items" screen telling me to tap the Plus icon on the top-right corner to add a podcast, I tap the Plus icon, and I'm immediately greeted with "No network connection. Make sure your device is connected to a network." Clicking retry does nothing. It's like the app just doesn't seem to think I'm ever connected when my connection works fine on just about any other app on my phone.
I've yet to find a solution on my own. Searching online turns up nothing, as if the problem is only happening to me or is too obscure. I've tried so many fixes on my own. Tried clearing the data on the Music app, tried clearing the data and following with a reboot, tried connecting to different networks, tried toggling my WiFi and LTE, tried just about everything I can think of. I'm stumped.
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong at this point. I'm on rooted Marshmallow with an E6603 model Xperia Z5. Any suggestions on what to do from here, or am I stuck with a broken feature on the Music app? Granted I could live without this feature, but I would very much like to consolidate my podcasts and music into a single app.
Unfortunately, the podcasts won't work properly without root too. I just went back to test this, the issue that made me stop using it is still there: while scrolling the podcasts list by category, the list of items would occasionally skip very fast 2 or 3 pages below or above. I'm using podcasts in GPM now. That, too is a bit underdeveloped right now, hopefully Google will improve on it.

I have the same problem with "No network connection" on my Sony Z5 compact on Marshmallow 6.0.1 but it was the same on 6.0 and 5.1.1 so I assume it's Sony's music app fault. Anyone found a solution yet?

Try the app - "Genus beat" for music as well as podcasts
I find the native music player and podcast rather bad to be honest. I much prefer third party app combinations such as Onyx and Pocketcasts
As per phonearena.com Mate 9 is starting to get update to Oreo
https://www.phonearena.com/news/Unlocked-Huawei-Mate-9-receiving-Android-8.0-Oreo-in-the-US_id102104
Wait is over
Android Central is reporting it too. Anyone get it?
I have checked mine several times and nothing yet
it's approved for update in Firmware Finder
Edit: nevermind, jumped the gun...only approved if you check without the imei.
As someone who has been on the beta test for this for the past 2 months, it's pretty disappointing that they're releasing this. It has issues that they haven't fixed. If .360 is the final version, I'll have to see if I can get rolled back to Nougat.

I stream Google Play Music via Bluetooth in my car. Until Oreo, when I turn off my car, or switch to another audio source, streaming from the phone is paused. Next time I start up the car, it resumes. Now, I have about a 50% chance of it resuming Google Play Music. It will randomly decide to instead use the built in music app to play something stored on the phone (one of the demo songs that came with the phone, or the one track I have saved on the SD card). I’m constantly having to go to Google Play Music & re-start whatever I was playing.
I’m also having unreliable visual notifications, particularly text messages (I use Textra). I do at least sometimes get the audio ding, but more often than not, no flashing light, and no badge on the shortcut. So if I’m not within earshot of the phone when I get a txt, I don’t know I received one (I can’t say for certain audio notifications always work, but I know at least sometimes I’ve heard the ding, but visually the phone doesn’t indicate it).
The above two issues are new since the Oreo update. Another issue I have that also existed in Nougat: the phone has difficulty managing multiple simultaneous Bluetooth connections. My car requires two connections: one for phone calls, and another to a 3rd party streaming adapter. If I have my Huawei Watch on/already connected to the phone when I get in the car, the two car connections won’t connect, at least not both of them. I have to toggle Bluetooth off/on on the phone to get all three connected at the same time. If I don’t have my watch on, there’s a better chance that both will connect, but at least one will. I didn’t seem to have these issues with my previous Note 3, but the Mate 9 seems to have a hard time reconnecting Bluetooth when there are multiple simultaneous connections involved. This issue is the one that caused me to join the beta, hoping to ensure it was fixed in the new software. Instead, it persists, and I gained a couple new ones.

Same here with bluetooth inconsistencies when connected to my car. I have resynched several times and sometimes it helps for a short while and other times no improvement. Sometimes I can control songs and other times not. Sometimes it shows songs and other times it shows connecting. Sometimes it shows the correct name of song and other times it freezes on a song title that is long gone. Even when deleting and resynching my phone, an old song title is displayed and not the same as being played. Total bummer as I use bluetooth music every time I get into my car. On recent update (360) which appears to be the same one they are releasing as OTA.
hmmm, this must be a states model thing, my huawei mate 9 works perfectly on oreo...i dont use textra, use normal default...anyway is one of the reason i dont buy or use states systems on no phone...i always buy the international phones(orignal phone) the company put out...they better and receive the update in a timely manner...sorry, but state phones suck! i havent bought one in over at least 10 years....
Still waiting. To be honest though, it's not even Oreo I want, I just want the dang security updates. April 2017 is wayyy too old.

I've noticed similar Bluetooth problems. I stream in my car pretty often and through headphones at work, and at times I won't be able to skip songs via the receiver/headset. Since a reboot always fixes it, I've been doing preemptive reboots as I walk to my car in the morning to circumvent the issue.
I've had zero issues with Textra. If anything, it's working even better now than it did before - all of my MMS sending issues are gone. Apparently, though, this was less of a Huawei problem and more of a Nougat problem.

Which region did you rebrand to? I was on 432 running a custom ROM for a while, but went back to 567 thinking that would solve my MMS sending issues. I want to rebrand, but I've heard that rebranded phones don't receive OTA updates because the IMEI doesn't match the region.
Thanks
I did not rebrand any thing, as I stated I don't buy state side phones, I buy original unlock phones directly from company (Amazon).. I have international version, MHA-L29C185... Now on oreo from Ota... Yea you loose Ota on those rebranding systems most of those require to unlock bootloader and twrp... That alter the system... If you want a good Huawei phone, buy international or China version off Amazon, yes both work in the states.
Just got my ota update today
Can someone who got Ota update check to see if any of the files on the FF app are giving an imei approval?
Mine still isn't and I didn't get Ota yet, so if it does for you and u got the Ota it may shed some light on whether the server shown on FF is directly linked to Ota files...

I got my OTA update late yesterday. Haven't had it long enough to see if the battery life is better.
