phone stuck on home screen - Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus S7500

A friend of mine gave me this phone (stock fw) yesterday asking me to fix it, or at least to recover files on it. When it turns on, the screen is stuck on the home: touchscreen and physical buttons don't work, but everything else apparently works fine (it automatically connects to a open wifi hotspot and receives notifications). When I plug the phone on the pc, the screen turns on and recognizes the usb, but i can't access to it through the pc.
I tried to wipe cache but nothing changed, so I think I have to factory reset it. The problem is that it will lose all data and my friend hopes to recover them. Is there another way to recover the phone without the data loss?

U have to install ur phone drivers first

[Q] Data reset does not do a complete reset.

Hi i recently got a samsung nexus S, and i have not did any modifications to it like flashing custom roms on it or anything. So its straight up as original as it is.
But i seem to be having a problem with it now as it does not do a clean data wipe even if i do it with a hard reset? The one where u press and hold the power button and volume up. After that i tried doing a reset from the Settings section, it rebooted and came back on with everything still on my phone ! Nothing was deleted at all!
Anyone has any solutions to this?

Just go to settings -> privacy settings -> factory data reset.
yeah i did that, and it rebooted up, and everything was still there lol
Apps, contacts, and some settings like wifi info will automatically come back when u log into your Google account.

I've NEVER seen that happen before, I honestly think you're somehow doing it wrong.

ok first a factory reset thru the settings option.
i went to settings > Privacy > factory data reset i dun think i can get that wrong.
when i do that it shuts off my phone. Reboots up, and i was expecting a clean phone. But everything is still there...
Nxt is hard reset, i shut off my phone, i press and hold the power and volume up until the recovery screen comes up, i select recovery, when the exclamation mark appears beside the android i press the power and volume up button again to bring up the menu and i select wipe data/factory reset. It says wiping...and when its done i select reboot system now, and it loads back to my phone ... with everything still there! hahah xD
unlock the bootloader, thatll automagically wipe the phone(and everything in storage).
hello, my friend just helped me with root/flash my phone, and the system supposedly did a factory reset.
But everything is still there =( im starting to think its a virus?
Im gonna scan it, but does anyone has any experience with these type of problems?

Like someone said before, if you don't uncheck it Google will automatically install apps from your market account after putting in your account data.
yes i unchecked it already, and i doubt google will put back all my mp3 and pictures even after i did a factory reset? I don't really think thats possible...
But anyways, yes i unchecked the automatic restore box.
sorry for the troubles im causing =(
*EDIT*
Do u guys think i would be able to format my phone by using my computer to format it like any other hard disk?
Factory reset doesn't wipe the (fake) SD card by default. Did you check the box for that?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
mp3's and pictures are not affected by a factory reset. to get rid of that stuff, do Menu > Settings > Storage > Erase USB storage.
i did that too, i even did the hard reset which supposedly wipes all data? But i reboot back in and my pattern password screen comes back up along with my usual wall paper. All my widgets still there and its like i've nvr done a reset before.

you're either not doing it right or restoring data from google... try doing it without logging back into google
i did not log back into anything, i even switched to a prepaid card to make sure i had no connections to the outside world at all lol xD
anyways derek can u please tell me what im doing wrong? I am sure i followed all the steps correctly. And the screen prompted me to make sure i wanted to erase all data, i clicked yes, and it proceeds to the "wiping data" but then when i reboot it back, everything is still there.
EDIT* I found a thread mentioning a factory format code *2767*3855# in this forum, i tried it, and it tells me connection problem or invalid MMI code. Anyone knows what gives?
please download the stock images for your phone and flash them with fastboot.

Extremely frustrated, need some advice for PIN lock

I locked my phone a week ago (drank a little, was incredibly angry) and forgot the password the following morning. Tried every combination under the sun that was close to my usual lock PIN and had no luck. I read about the pattern unlock asking for a Gmail login, and I was never prompted.
I tried many solutions, including the ADB program but my phone was not set for debug. I decided to change my Gmail password online with the hopes my phone would prompt me, but no such luck. A day ago I found a program that would bypass the screen lock, but it had to be installed from the Android Market. Installation didnt work because I changed my Gmail password, but cant set it on my phone now.
I really dont want to lose my photos and data, it would be a huge setback and Im already having a difficult time with it.
Is it possible to install a custom recovery image WITHOUT losing all of my data, or will it wipe everything clean in the process? Are there any realistic options I have to be able to remove my PIN lock or recover my data?
I would really appreciate any help I can get, because it seems I have no other options left and Im left with a phone I want to throw in the trash.
You didn't say if you are rooted or not. If you do have root then you can probably just flash another rom and you wont lose anything. If you don't have root.. then I got nothing. If you don't already have a rom on your device but you are rooted you could probably find a app that would allow you to get right into your phones flash memory and put a rom in that way.
Also, pull our your micro sd card on there. If thats where all the data that you want to save then you could be in luck that way. You didn't mention where the data is saved. Pm me if you have any questions or you don't understand

Sorry, didnt think to mention those details. Phone isnt rooted, all data like photos and such is saved internally.
I never really looked into digging into the phone like this, but after I locked it I started looking at every possible option. Even sending the phone out to a data recovery specialist. Im basically at the end of a fraying rope, and it really sucks, Im so stressed.

So you tried your passcode those thirty times and then what happened? Nothing? I think that you should just keep on trying your passcode over and over again and maybe it will come up with you signing into your google account... maybe.
Data like photos, videos, files, etc etc are all stored on SD card (internal), except application data. Only application specific data like its configuration, etc go to internal partitions that get erased when loading custom ROM.
So your best bet would be to install a custom ROM and then get the data from your SD card. When a custom ROM says it is going to wipe everything, it means partitions like /system, /cache, etc, and not the internal or external sd card.
But for this you would need to be rooted. So try the one click to restore to stock (in one of the threads here). This is worth a try since this method should not clear internal SD card.
why dont you flash the community kernel giving you CWM, then flash a rom?

How can you do that if you can't access (get past the lockscreen) and don't have root? (honest question..)

Idk if you can get into download mode if you're not rooted.. never tried it.
If you can't get into download mode you might be able to do the stock reset. I would make that a last resort though, it will probably wipe your pictures.
You do this by powering down the phone and then using the three finger method, holding down the power, volume up and down buttons. Let go of the power at the Samsung logo and then it will boot into a green screen. From there.. you have to figure it out because I don't know what the screen looks like. I can't remember from all those months ago when the last time that I was on the stock firmware for a while.
Optimus is right....just pull the battery...put phone in download mode and flash community kernel...when it starts booting...3 button back to recovery...if you don't have a custom rom on your phone...when you get to recovery..go to apply update zip and select and flash it...that will give you green cwm ...then go to mounts and storage and select mount usb storage...you computer will recognized your internal memory then you just transfer another rom on your SD card ....unmkunt usb and flash like normal...hope that helps...

How do I put the phone in download mode? I know how to get to recovery mode, but not download mode (if they are different).
When I mount the USB storage, I can just pull everything from my phone?

Download mode screen has a small exclamation mark, something like in the pic I have attached. It is totally different than recovery. Recovery allows for a bunch of options that can be manipulated on the phone itself. Download mode allows phone to be updated only via a connected device i.e., a computer that pumps in data to the phone. By data I mean OS.
You cannot mount anything like USB storage in this mode. This mode is more like a mode that the manufacturer uses for automating initial OS onto the device, in a totally automated process. This method is also sometimes referred to as "restoring stock" meaning, restoring phone to how it was when out of factory.
Pull the battery....put battery back in...(first of all have Odin open)..hold vol up and vol down while plugging usb ...u should see a yellow android with a broom and it says downloading...on Odin you should see comm## in yellow if you are connected....download gtg ultimate unbrick and extract...on Odin click the pit button and go to where u extracted and double click on infuse.pit...then click the pda button and put the PDA file in there...and do the same for phone...hit start and your on your way back to stock

To add to this:
Since you seem to be new, try to ensure you don't disconnect the phone from the PC until this process is complete. And get the phone drivers loaded onto your computer before you start this process.
Most importantly, as mentioned above, open odin first, and then connect the phone in download mode for odin to recognize the phone.

I find it odd that you were never prompted to unlock with gmail password as well, it actually says pin lock, not puk lock correct?
Did you try changing your gmail password back to what your phone thinks it is so you can run this program you heard of, that might work right? Just thought i would throw this out there if your having toruble with the more technical solutions being offered to you.

Its the PIN lock, rather than a pattern or SIM lock. I did try that actually, but Gmail wont allow me to use the same password twice. I spoke with someone at Google who referred me to a specialist, and I will ask for their help on doing this. I was told by someone else that with the phone not seeing the correct password it will essentially be logged out, but Im really hoping that is not the case.

[q] Kernel problems?

So I rooted my Tmobile g2x everything was going great until I tried using the Trinity Kernel. Now it won't recognize any Network service so I can't redownload ROM Manager to restore it to my previous ROM. My computer can't find my phone either (I installed my USB Drivers already) What should I do?
HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! PLEASE!

Yeah, my apn is correct. How do I reflash it? I have no access to any type of network so I can't download ROM Manager to flash it, it won't read my sd card or my sim card. And my computer won't recognize my phone apparently... I'm soo ****eeedd.... I just got this phone today too.
You are not fudged for good. If you have no absolute access and your computer won't recognized the phone when plugged in, then install the drivers. Fisrt and foremost go to dev thread and root your phone properly through nvflash. Lastly try rebooting the phone holding down the power+vol up until the second LG logo pops up, this has been said and reported to fix weird data issues.

When you ask me to install the drivers. You're talking about the original USB drivers for the phone right? I've already had them installed previously. The phone was recognized before I booted it to the Trinity Kernel. So which drivers should I get?
Try booting in CWM by holding down volume + power til you see the blue lg then let grand from there perform a factory data reset and then try flashing trinity again or a rom with or without trinity

The magnifying glass search button or the power button can be used for select. You may have also disabled the ability to select which it will tell you near the bottom of the screen. Press both volume buttons a few times to fix that.

You realize that you don't have to use rom manager to install a rom right? And your saying the you can't connection to wifi? Or data? And with the apns mine used to be a correct but I still couldn't connect to data just hit menu and hit reset apn it should work. With nvidia tegra on board its really hard to brick ur phone.. If you really run into and problems let me know and I'll hook you up to a thread for apx drivers iv been there done that
I've finally solved my issue thanks to TGA_Gunnman. Appreciated the help everyone!

GT-P5113 Factory reset

I want to reset my tablet due to I'm going to be selling it. I've unrooted it, but SpuerSU is still on the system. I've gone into the backup and reset and selected factory reset and it asks for a PIN number, which I thought I knew, but I guess I don't cause it doesn't like anything I type in.
I have also booted holding power and volume up/right. I get a warning menu about pressing left to flash new rom or right to cancel...
What do I do? I want to reload this to like the day I unboxed it...
Thanks,.
No one has any knowledge of this????

Based on it asking for a pin number it sounds like you setup a pin at some point. I run a pin number on my superSU but I'm not sure what happens when you forget the pin number.
I know inside supersu there's an option for full unroot.
Maybe message chainfire the dev of it. I looked at it just now and there's nothing that comes up if you forget the pin number

Basically the HTC blinkfeed won't work so I can't access anything. I turn off the phone but when I go to perform a factory reset it just turns the phone back on. I also can't do it with USB either.
Is there anything I can do at this point?
