Hi.
This may be a strange one but i have an S4 which has a broken screen.,
I need to access the phone to backup alll my details,
The problem is it has cm10.1 on it and kies wont work, i do however have myphone explorer installed and setup but never have set on auto run.
I cant access the phone when loaded due to the rsa key but i can in recovery mode with qtadb or standard adb,
How can i use the tools i have to add myphoneexplorer to auto run when i turn my phone on so i can backup all my messages, calendar and contacts.
Thanks

I tried to sync my Fuze today to install the PIM backup prog. so I can finally update my ROM to the newer one. For some reason, why I open the Windows Mobile Device Center, it keeps saying Error. It won't let me connect via Active Sync, but I can access my files when it is used as a disk drive.
I tried to uninstall any programs, but when I go to the Remove Programs, the box is completely empty!
Can someone help and tell me what could have caused this?
Do I have to hard reset to fix this?
Hi,
I'm currently trying to remove my main google account from my HTC Desire. I changed my gmail adress and deleted the old Google account, now my Desire always asks me for the correct password for the old gmail account (which doesn't exist any more), thus I'd like to make the second Google account the primary one and delete the old (non-existant) account from my phone. I'm running a Froyo custom ROM (That means the Desire is rooted, shell instructions are also welcome). Removing all Google apps data in the Applications Menu didn't help. I don't want to do a factory reset as I've installed a few purchased apps I'd like to keep.
Thank you for your help!

Just FYI (and for search engine users): Just solved it. Instructions:
- Boot phone into recovery mode
- Mount /data partition
- Pull /data/system/accounts.db to local computer using adb pull
- Use sqlite3 to update the account name (UPDATE accounts SET name='[email protected]' WHERE name='[email protected]'
- Push accounts.db back to phone
- Reboot
Works like a charm. No problems so far.
Be more specific,please.
Im new in this, can you really help me with more specific intruction.
I found another way, this is to remove all the accounts saved to the phone
First you need Root Explorer
-if you get any error with Superusers just close all the running services try to update SuperUser, turn phone off and back on, keep going to Root Explorer until it ask you to accept something related to SU (u might get frustrated but be patient you will see the permission)
-Once in Root Explorer Hit the hardware button and select SEARCH
-We are going to search for the word ACCOUNT
-Now the is going to search the whole phone for the word ACCOUNT make sure the sd card isnt inserted in the phone
-Once the search has been completed just delete all the files or text files in the search results. it probably say that the file is being used or is only for reed, again just make sure all the apps are closed as well of the proccesess then keep trying to delete until it gets deleted
-Just turn the phone Off and Back on and all the accounts should be Removed even the main one

I have changed my HTC HD2 from windows to android.
I tried to down load an app, but the down loads are for HTC HD2 not my android.
What do I do to get android market to down load to my phone now
Hi All,
I want to sync my contacts/calendar entries from PC to Android, also access/send messages from my PC via phone.
After googling I found Kies, My PhoneExplorer and Andriod-Sync are suitable options.
But when I start these apps and connect my phone via USB cable, none of them are able to detect(or connect to) my phone.
My PhoneExplorer and Andriod-Sync require phone to have 'USB debugging' enabled.
I tried all three applications with all combinations (usb debugging on/off and usb mode to kies) none of them seem to be working.
My guess is, it is not working since i've flashed a custom rom on my phone (Kyrillos' ROM v9.2) and also partitioned sdcard.
has anyone tried this?
PS: I've tried re-instaling adb/phone drivers, even that did not help.
Go to the thread with all the stock apps from JPU. Download the app called MTPapplication.apk and move it to your /system/app using root explorer.
shouldn't MyPhoneExplorer work even without the MTP? It uses its own app? Or does it still rely on MTP?

I have no idea. Haven't used any of the other apps. All i know is you need MTP to use Kies and Kies is good for syncing contacts etc. (Useless for updating my phone)
Use google contacts, it's very easy to sync them

Hey Smonic,
I installed MTP app and tried connecting, still no luck
MyPhoneexplorer and andriod-sync still dont detect it.
Kies says:
'Cannot start service on the device. Please disconnect then reconnect the device'
I've tried reconnecting several times, it always gives this same message.
Try a wipe of your phone, deinstall all samsung stuff on your pc, then reinstall samsung drivers. If you want to back up contacts use google and if you want to backup sms I think there is an app in the market that can do it.
Hello,
I booted into recovery using the Down Volume and Power button. It seems to have restored the interface to factory default, although all my pics on the phone and SD card are there.
I cant find any contacts,SMS or previous apps. The app files are on the device. I can see them from my PC, but they are not installed.
After booting into recovery mode I just returned there a couple times. Finally I was able to boot normally, but into a fresh UI.
How can I restore or get back my (wife's) contacts and SMS's? I think that they should be there on the phone still. They were not backed up.
Thanks.

Is the phone rooted? Are you using clockwork mod recovery? Contacts are usually backed up with a google/gmail account. Go into her settings>sync settings and hopefully her gmail account is there. If it is, just click on it and her contacts should restore. You can also backup your apps through the gmail account as well. I believe the playstore has an option to automatically update via wifi, try looking in there for options about that. If her contacts were not backed up via gmail, then they are probably lost. I'm going to assume that you do not have a nandroid backup on the device via CWM that you could roll back to?

Thanks for your reply. No, it is not rooted. No CWM (yet). It seems there is no backup of the contacts because syncing was off. I used the phone first and then passed it to my wife, so she did not want all my contacts, she just managed contacts manually. That is why syncing was off. I kept my google account on the phone to manage apps.
I do not have a Nandoid backup. I looked at Helium, but it does not seem to work on Android 2.2.2. How would you recommend I back up the device to prepare for a custom ROM like CM7.2?
I am more worried about her manually added contacts and SMS's.
I did not install anything like CWM yet, just booted into recovery mode. Then the phone started asking me questions like in the initiall setup ei "Add a Google Account"
Is there a way that I can extract the contacs and SMS's from a directory on the phone. (Most of her data and directories seem to be there when viewed from a PC as USB storage).
Why would this happen from a simple reboot into recovery mode? Did I hold the Volume Down and power too long?
Thanks,

To be honest I do not know if there is way to extract the lost contact information. I am only knowledgeable about recovery protocols with a rooted device utilizing a custom recovery software such as cmw. I have never entered recovery prior to flashing cwm. There are plenty of guides in the stickies that show how to flash cwm via nvflash and guides on how to use it in order to flash a custom rom like cm7.2

Your contacts are unfortunately gone. With the stock recovery holding the buttons too long equals a data wipe which is where contacts and such are stored.
Been there, done that. I had a similar situation on my wife's phone and ended up creating a dummy Google account for her so contacts would be backed up automatically.

In the absence of a valid argument, 2+1=3 may be used to explain why the g2x did not get the ICS update!
I was hoping you would jump in here mansa! Thanks!

My POCO X2 soft bricked on its own. I just turned on hotspot to use it as wifi extender and after 15 minutes it restated on its own. After that it stuck on POCO logo. I don't know when i turned off USB debugging so i was not able "adb". Installed TWRP recovery to get adb, but can't backup app from there.
I need Authenticator app, it has alot of my accounts and i haven't synced it on cloud. So, is there a way i can backup that? or copy local database of the app to get all the passwords?
I tried copying base.apk, odt, lib folder to other phone but that didn't work. Help please how i can backup one app and restore it. I tried backing up whole data but it is giving error when it reaches 100%.
Please help.
