[Q] Phone won't boot into recovery. Goes Black! - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I have an HTC One X from AT&T. I recently got root and started playing. I flashed Clean Rom 6.5 using clockwordmod and it went well. Used it about a week and got bored. (Later I saw that TWRP was needed for that.) I decided I wanted to try a Cyanogen Mod but realized later after research that my phone received the OTA update that only allows Sense ROMS on my phone. After I flashed Cyanogen 10 with clockwordmod the touch screen wouldn't work. I tried to get back to Clean Rom 6.5 and tied to flash TWRP as my bootloader. It went bad from there. Now I cannot get to recovery. It appeas I don't have a bootloader flashed. I used FastbootFlasher_V2.4 and flashed TWRP. It said it was sent. Still won't go to recovery. I downloaded the RUU.exe and tried that process. It failed too. After I tried to restore the RUU it said to reboot. I did and then the cyanogen logo came on and hung. I went to fastboot and typed in fastboot erase cache. No help. Here's my screen info if that helps:

Slow up.... What if anything can you access on phone? Can you access hboot
Power on + volume down
Being your s-on it's near impossible to kill the bootloader

You've given us your bootloader info so I doubt you've killed the bootloader. If it turns on it's far from bricked. Did you mean you can't get into recovery? Have you tried flashing a recovery to fix it?

[Q] Stuck in bootloop after 6 months of smooth sailing, can't access recovery

Hi everyone!
I've been searching and reading around trying to solve a bootloop problem on my HTC Desire S/Saga (or at least I think it is a bootloop problem) but, so far, I've had no luck.
Here's what has happened and what's going on:
1) S-off and got hboot 6.98.1002 through revolutionary
2) phone worked normally for six months and suddenly, without any changes or flashes, it rebooted and started a boot loop, ie, I can't get into any in-OS menus.
3) Choosing recovery of factory settings from hboot menu just reboots the phone and restarts the loop.
4) I've tried flashing (both through fastboot and android flasher) the eng hboot 0.98.0000 and clockworkmod recovery images but neither had any effect.
Phone was vodafone-locked, running a vanilla Android 2.3.4.
hboot menu data:
SAGA PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-6.98.1002
RADIO-3822.10.08.04_M
eMMC-boot
I don't have any backup data from pre-revolutionary, either :|
I'm knocking my head against the walls, hoping that the phone's only temporarily bricked... any ideas?
Thanks in advance for helping a n00b...
Doesn't sound like a hboot problem you me, but that could just be me. And I don't think flashing the stock hboot will help.
Are you sure you are flashing the ENG hboot? It's 0.98.2000. 0.98.0000 is most likely your stock hboot and can't be flashed over revolutionary hboot in most cases.
So to get back to stock stock..... You will need to run your RUU after the new hboot has been flashed.
Another option is for you to install a custom ROM and avoiding the RUU. I still suggest you flash the ENG hboot though.

I've been away for the last few days so I haven't been able to test anything, but tomorrow evening I'll test both suggestions and post feedback.
Thanks again!

So I tried to flash the ENG hboot from this thread, using android flasher and later using this method, but adb never lists my Saga.
Fastboot lists it correctly, though. I *think* I had USB debugging on, if I recall correctly.
Using androidflasher I get a flash ok notice and then the bootloop just restarts...
Any ideas?

Your problem sounds exactly like the one on the thread linked below.... in which case, if you just try the steps from the concerned thread, and are still unable to fix your device, it can be written off as another dead eMMC...
Just follow the instructions on this thread...maybe you will have better luck than the OP?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1507106
So did your hboot change or not? If hboot and recovery won't flash then I have to agree with above, fried emmc :-(
yeah it could be an emmc problem, you may want to check the sticky in the development forum, if this is the real problem there is a possibility for a fix, not necessarily emmc replacement

Thanks, tried everything and had the exact same results. Fried eMMC, I guess..
This is really wierd, I got a phonecall, turned the call off, the phone rebooted and entered the bootloop.
Nothing fishy or wierd, no flashing erros, just a regular phonecall from my boss. Damn :|
If only I could get the normal hboot on I could repair it under warranty
Well, thanks everybody
Try going for warranty repair, for a few guys over here at xda no one checked (or din not care) whether the phone was rooted or s-off when they went to service their phone. Maybe you'll get lucky too. Good luck!

[Q] HTC Sensation 4G stuck. Won't boot. Bricked?

Hello,
I am having some trouble with my T-mobile Sensation 4G. I was trying to install a Rom and seemed to have failed. At this point it will not boot past the first white screen with the green HTC logo.
I can get it into fastboot and Clorkwork mod recovery. However, I am not really sure what to do.
I have tried superwipe and it fails. Bootloader screen is as follows:

Most likely the rom will not boot on your current firmware. What rom is installed?
Option 1 is to restore a backup since you can access recovery.
Option 2 is to put the correct firmware on your SD using a PC, reinsert and let your phone update.

I don't think any rom is installed. It never got that far.
I first tried to update using this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542192
However the update failed. After that the phone was just going into a reboot loop when I tried to start it up. I then tried to flash a new rom in the hopes it would fix whatever problem the first failure caused. I was following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098849
I was able to update the firmware from the linked page on that guide:
Firmware from 3.32.401.x & 3.32.401.10x RUU
I then tried to flash the Android Revolution HD 6.5.2 rom. It failed and when i tried to reboot it just hangs as described above. I tried to use superwipe and it also fails. I am sure at this point it is obvious I am lost.
Option 1 is not an option as I don't have a backup.
Option 2 may be an option, but I apparently don't know what the correct firmware is.....
Thanks again for the help.
I went back into fastboot and then recovery and tried to use superwipe, but that failed.
Option 1 is a no go because I do not have a backup.
Use this firmware instead.. it's worked well for me no matter which ICS rom I've installed..
Firmware from 3.24.401.1 & 3.25.401.101 RUU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1412618
Don't get it confused with the one you've already tried. Then after you flash that version of the firmware, remove it from sdcard and flash a rom. It's worked for me as it should for you as well.. Hope this helped.. I'm also assuming that you've Super CID your device....
if this helped, slap the thanks button... thanks

So still on stock rom, ie Gingerbread, since 2x flashes have failed?
If so, 3.12 is the correct firmware to get it to boot.

I was not able to boot normally after installing this firmware, but it did allow me to complete the superwipe. That was failing beforehand. Once I was able to wipe the phone I was then able to install a rom. The phone is back up and running now. Thanks again for the help. I appreciate you guys taking the time.

Can't get into recovery (Revolutionary)

Hi All.
I'm having a problem with what appears to be Recovery mode in Revolutionary.
The Desire S has been rooted and S-Off. I then flashed Android Revolution 7(Mike1986).
As I'm about to sell the phone, wanted to do a factory reset, but this restarts the phone and gets stuck on the HTC logo. So I figured I'd manually flash a new ROM instead. So I go into bootloader, but when I get to the menu and select Recovery, again, it gets stuck at an HTC logo.

You need to flash an eng-hboot first before you can flash an RUU to go back to stock.
All details in my signature and the index thread.
Read the forum and index thread before doing anything
Oh, OK - I'm not that bothered about putting it back to stock firmware. I just wondered why Revolutionary doesn't seem to be working.
Presumably I just need to put PG88IMG.zip into the root of the SD card?

Sent by my fingers to your head.
Um.....I'm fairly sure it was CWM, but don't hold me to that. Whatever it was, it allowed me to install Android Revolution 7.
I can't update HBOOT - Revolutionary keeps bypassing it?????

Android Revolution 7??? On the Desire S...? Where'd you get that from? It's not officially supported by the ARHD team!!
Now I'm absolutely confused where the hell I got that from!!!
I think the best course of action is to get the phone back into shape - so I need to flash the HBOOT back and presumably the recovery back if possible. Revolutionary is preventing me from flashing a new Hboot. Any ideas?
EDIT : Right. Using ADB, I've managed to re-flash CWM and now it works. But can someone advise on getting HBoot to flash?
Loll fire the dd command to flash hboot.
It is fine from adb.

[Q] Won't flash ROMs after S-Off achieved

After following the process to obtain S-Off I am no longer able to flash any other ROM other than the one I started with. (Viper 3.10)
I have tried installing CM 10 and 10.1, even flashing their boot.img files like I would before.
I can't get anything to boot. I can get into HBOOT, Recovery, and Viper, so that all works, but nothing else.
That's all the info I know. If anyone can help I will click your "Thanks" button several times.
Thanks in advanced,

which recovery do you use, I recommend the last TWRP now in v2.4.2.0
You've probably got some of the software mixed up. S-off removes all restrictions on flashing, so it's just a matter of getting things sorted out.
What do you see in bootloader?
Sorry about leaving for so long, work all night, sleep all day.

The TWRP version is: v2.3.1.0 Maybe all I need is an update?
update: Updated TWRP to 2.4.2, it flashed CM 10.1 and now it's hung at the spinning bootsplash. So, progress?
update update: I kept flashing the CM 10.1 ROM and it booted after about 5 flashes. I don't know. But it works now. thanks guys!

[Q] Unable to boot after rooting my OX+

Hi,
I am just a beginner for Android and I had got my One X + a month back.
Yesterday I unlocked the bootloader and before flashing the SuperUser, something went wrong and logs in TWRP recovery were stating that it was not able to mount the sdcard and system directory.
Well after a lot of investigation, I reflashed the TWRP recovery and then I was able to sideload the Viper ROM.
I was able to flash the boot.img also. The ROM flashing went fine and when I rebooted, it gets stuck at the boot screen (HTC original bootscreen) and does n't continue further.
I have tried reflashing with other ROMs as well but no luck.
