Hi guys,
today I've broken the ldc display of my beloved nexus s.
The keys and the touchscreen still work but the display appears black (and the illumination is on).
It's a rooted device with a cyanogen rom installed with your help. Usb debugging is active and i can boot in recovery mode.
'Titanium backup' and 'SMS Backup & Restore' are installed and the device in recovery mode is seen by ADB.
I ask suggestions to backup the sms and the call list using these applications through my computer.
I often used ADB to restore roms after a backup with that apps but i can't do it anymore without the display.
thank you!!

Hi everyone,
my galaxy tab screen is not responding to touch and the manufacturer is saying that he must wipe off my data to fix the screen !!!!! I want to back it up first but the problem is that I cannot connect to kies without being able to navigate on the screen and switch it to PC mode :/
My Tab is rooted, is there a way to either force it into PC mode or to get some kind of shell command where I can copy my important files to my PC manually fore they wipe it?
Hi, I'm a new user and i'm sorry for making this post without even introduce myself, but i'm desperate
I broke my Acer Cloudmobile (S500) screen, making the touchscreen not working.
The device is rooted (i had several problems with my sdcard not mounting in CWM but it worked, it seemed), the USB debug is on and i'm running a stock 4.1.2 JB (so no "adb root").
How can I backup my app data and sms? that's the only folders i can't see from my pc (i tried with several computers, Win8/WinXP/MacOSX10.7)
Thanks for your future replies!
P.S.: if i make any error, let me say i'm not a native speaker, and if you need any other detail or explanation i'm, of course, happy to tell
Maybe try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=969650
But I don't know how you can grant superuser permission for adb. If your phone support otg just connect a usb mouse and backup your data.
Another solution: Make a cwm backup, reboot your phone and pull the backup files from your sdcard with adb. On your computer you can extract contacts and everything.
I hope this is helpful for you!
Im trying to access the data on a Galaxy S4 on which the screen is not working at all(no backlight and doesn't respond to touch). the data I mainly require is the contacts.db file. what I have tried sofar:
1. tried to access the data via USB but cant access the content due to the lock on the phone.
2. tried to access the data with KIES but once again failed to do so due to the lock on the phone.
3. Downloaded the ADB shell and installed the required USB drivers but cant access the phone, when running the command "adb devices" it says no devices found which I think is because the USB Debugging setting on the phone is not enabled.
4. Also tried to sync with the Google account but unfortunately it was not setup to sync contacts with the Google account.
Some other suggestions were to get another S4 and connect its screen to the the one in question which im sure will work but is there no other way to access the data or to somehow remove the pattern lock from the phone? maybe using another platform to gain full access to the phone or anything?
Hello, and welcome to XDA Assist! You may want to try this tool: [Tool][Windows] Control a device with a broken screen, or possibly use a programme such as Droid Explorer to view your files. If all fails, try and ask here: General discussion Questions and Answers. You will need to register to post.
Good luck!
hey there,
I am trying to access my files / wipe data from my Xperia Z3. The device has an unresponsive screen after I dropped it. I want to do a factory reset / wipe my data before selling it on. I do not need to save any further data.
A couple of weeks ago, I saved my files from the external phone SD card via USB on my computer (so USB debugging must be enabled I guess). However, I since updated my computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and now the Z3 somehow doesn't show up any more.
I tried to use ADB, but it does not connect to the device (ADB drivers and tools installed). The Z3 still shows up on my girlfriends computer runnnig Win7, although it is only shown as an "empty" device (no folder/file system visible in windows explorer).
I can not wipe the data via an app since I do not have any such app installed/configured with this phone. I also can not do it on the phone, because the screen doesn't show anything.
does anyone have an idea on how to wipe my data from the device or why it won't show up via ADB any more?
thanks a lot!

Greetings,
Thank you for using XDA Assist. First, have a look at your device's homepage here:
Sony Xperia Z3
You can find a lot of useful information in the General Forum located there. If you create an XDA account, you can ask your question in the Q&A forum, also located there. Good luck and welcome to XDA!
hey,
that actually was me, I was not logged in for some reason.
I did look through the forums before, but I can not find any solution to my problem so far.
Since this is a problem with ADB, I thought it belonged to the general section rather than to a device-specific forum...
thanks and cheers
Hi, I've come to these forums because you guys are knowlegeable.
I essentially uninstalled thorugh ADB the package installer (com.google.android.packageinstaller) and little did I know that was a big mistake on my part, as I didn't realize the package installer was a core part of the system. All was going well until i turned on and off my phoen, and it is now always stuck in recovery mode.
- Rebooting the phone just sends me back to the menu.
- I've not tried wiping the data yet, since I want to keep my files (for the moment).
- Connect with MiAssistant allows me to connect my phone to my PC, but it in sideload mode automatically. I can go in fastboot mode though, and fortunately I have turned USB Debugging on.
As I've come to realize, a factory reset or flashing a ROM would fix my issue, but also delete all my files (photos, music...). I was planning to do a backup of my photos, but now it's too late.
Is there any way I can access my files and pull them to my PC on sideload/fastboot mode?
The only thread i have seen with a similar problem is this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2487147
I also get the error:closed when I try an adb pull.
Thanks in advance.
