Hey,
I have a HTC Sensation which hasn't been switched on for about a year. I recently decided to blow the dust off it and have a play around however when I powered it on it is constantly cycling. It lights up and then restarts. After about the 10th restart I get the HTC logo and then it just sits there without moving any further forward.
When I used the phone last it was rooted and also had the bootloader unlocked and the Clock Work Mod is installed (whatever version was the newest a year ago). If I attempt to access CWM I can see the screen flash up but then the device resets.
Attempting to flash it by the HTC updater fails due to it not finding the phone.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

are you sure you own a sensation device?
because sensation devices corresponds to PYRAMID and yours says ACE instead of
also hboot version and radio are pretty weird for sensation device
anyway if you want to flash a rom from recovery unlock the bootloader again
that's preventing you to flash custom roms

exactly is the codename for sensation devices
ace is a different htc device but i don't know which one
can you do this pls
in cmd from pc(connect the device in fastboot mode)type

post the output of the command
Hey rzr86,
Thanks for the assistance. As I mentioned in the first post I can't enter recovery it was just popping the screen up then resetting.
I also mentioned that after about 10 restarts the HTC boot screen came up. So, following on from that I simply kept the volume down button pressed for the 10 cycles and the bootloader eventually came up. From there, RUU has successfully updated my device and it's working again.
Thanks again!!
dadoremix,
Good luck fixing your phone. Maybe next time don't hijack someone else's thread though eh?
Youtube or google for a fix its not fully bricked yet.

surely it is not a sensation device because the model ID is different(starts with PD)
sensation devices's model ID starts with PG
about the error you can't use a ruu.exe with lower firmware version than yours while you are on S-ON
but it is better to continue this in desire forums as here is only for sensation devices

Hi,
down there you find the original thread/question but i think the only possibility to keep the data on a Sensation with not working touchscreen may be to flash a system.img from a RUU and hope it boots.
Is it possible to flash system.img via fastboot with a locked S-ON Sensation?
Thanks
Regards
Daniel

Hello,
my GF owns a unrooted S-ON completely stock Sensation and did the official german t-mobile update (sorry we did not write the number down).
After the update the phone boots but the touchscreen does not work. You can't enter the pin code and also the volume buttons does not work. Only the power button works "a little bit". You can turn on / off screen but you can't open the shutdown menu.
I can enter Bootloader but as it's locked i don't know what i can do there.
Is it possible to mount the file system to backup some data?
Or is there any other way to apply a official htc firmware WITHOUT DELETING ALL USER DATA?
Thank you very much
PS I should have rooted / s-offed it before, damn it... ;-)
Wrong thread, this should go in Q&A section
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using xda premium
Okay sorry - could someone move it please?
Anyone?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Okay another idea.
Is it possible to extract a german T-Mobile RUU and just flash the system.img via fastboot? Do i have a chance to make it work again this way?
Or is it not possible to flash system.img when the phone is stock?
hey... i got the same problem.. tried a few things but still no working sensation :/
What did you try?
I think running a T Mobile RUU should work (but the user data is beeing deleted)
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
no, there is till now no matching tmob ruu :/
So is it only possible to run a RUU with the exactly same version as on the phone?
please help me

Please start a new thread, is the htc logo in black with four "!" signs at the edges of the screen? please give us more information about the phone(s-off?). also there are lots of RUUs in this link, you can just try them or manually pull the files you want from them.

your device is on S-ON not S-OFF
you can use a ruu.exe for your region but unfortunately there is no ics for your device
and with S-ON you can't downgrade
maybe with a goldcard you can by pass it but i am not sure
by the way is your bootloader locked or unlocked?

extract the recovery.img and flash it via fastboot command
the command is fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
then from for 4ext:
format all partitions except sdcard
enable smartflash(because you are on S-ON)
flash a custom rom
done

As long as you can go into bootloader your phone is not bricked and can be made to work properly so no worries.
Can you give more info please
Post all the details that's present in hboot
If you have adb/fastboot setup then put the phone in fastboot and connect it to your pc
And
Type this command
fastboot getvar all
Post all the output here except imei and serial number
Also please tell me what rom you installed lastly

ok you flashed the sense 4 rom through boot manager right....not dual boot right
did you have the rom zip file ?
is so ..extract the boot.img from the custom rom's zip file ( generally in kernels folder ..if it has more than 1 boot.img the choose the one of your choice)
keep the boot.img file in your adb folder (pc)
then go to fastboot on your device ..connect it to your pc
then on pc
type this
fastboot flash boot boot.img
then reboot
to reboot
fastboot reboot
chk it and see ..if this solves your problem

time to make a back up hahah

thank you guys so much i was just about to throw my "brick" through a window hahaha
Following your advice after "Bricking mine" i have managed to get further than before.
I can access Recovery, if i let it boot normally it comes up with Juopunutbea sreen.
However Recovery is unable to mount my SD card to do anything else and Juopunutbea wont find my device.
I am hoping i am able to recover it still?
I am currently unable to check the SD card but I am very worried and just seeking advice for reassurance.
In theory, if my SD card is now dead I should be able to use the recovery img i have on my C drive i have got from following a guide or the boot/recovery image from Juopunutbea folder?
I was slightly foolish when i was rooting it.
I completed the unlock and recovery successfully
But when rooting it with Juopunutbea it said to use the wire trick. I still had the back on! I was hoping i could take the back off to do so but ended up removing the USB cable, hoping for the best.
I fear my SD card is dead but my phone is still recoverable
(Apologies in advance if this is a complete noob question but as said i am very worried and looking for advice and reassurance)
Thanks

However it still would not get recognised by jb
I connected it to my PC and load a boot back up img i had.

nice to know it worked for u
Hello
I have HTC sensation XE
CID: HTC__001
MID: PG5813001
Software:4.0.3
It's was unlocked but still S-ON. And I clicked flash kernel in (HTC all in one kit) by mistake which it has number (Stock 2.6.39.4).
Then the device rebooted and freeze on the green HTC logo. I still can go to the recovery window lock and unlock the bootloader. But I tried one RUU which gave me many errors first 155 then 131 or slimier.
I tried to change the CID in the ROM file then rename it and flash it but still fails.
I am trying (RUU_PYRAMID_LE_ICS_35_S_HTC_ARA_3.32.415.115_Radio_11.69A.3504.00U_11.23.3504.07_M2_release_257539_signed)
Is there any solution or I lost the device?
Please help
thank you all,

if you have unlocked bootloader there is no need to S-OFF
continue from the step4B,find the stock ics for XE and flash it via recovery(don't forget to enable smartflash)

and always remember before flashing the rom enable smartflash first

Thank rzr86 I really appreciate your help.
I'm downloading the right stock now.
By the way, I did flash the one I already downloaded it. It was done ok, gave me some options which I didn't know what should I choose. But finally when I restart the device it's still on the green logo.
I flashed the right stock you gave me. After finishing the reboot freeze on the green logo?!
Any tip?

hmm, before flashing the rom i assume you enabled smartflash
if yes then try again to flash the boot.img manually
one question: did you supewipe before installing the rom?
Yes I enabled smartflash before superswipe and before the stock flashing.

ok then flash the boot.img manually.if you don't remember how see here(extra 1)

if that fails too then i can think only one solution.flashing a ruu.exe again but not the one that you mentioned in your first post because i noticed firmwares are not matching.i'll show which one
just try first the boot.img
Yes it worked this time.
But unfortunetly the wifi isn't working and show error text in the setting. Any idea?

really happy for you man.:good:
now about wifi: it is supposed to work because you flashed the boot.img(it has to do with ramdisk and kernel)
the only thing that i can tell you is to flash it again
if it still shows error try to use wifix manager
I'm happy too thank you so much.
I tried to reflash boot.img, wifi didn't work.
And I tried wifi manager, didn't fix it either.
Please help :fingers-crossed:
i have only 2 options
1: to flash the whole rom again(maybe bad flash) or
2: to flash a ruu.exe and start from the beginning
for the 1 don't forget to superwipe and smartflash enable and
for the 2 see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672425 and locate this one

If wifi still not working after doing extra 1 step..
Then reflashing the rom from recovery without any wipe will help (just make sure you enable smartflash though)

You are actually S-ON, that means you can only flash a RUU of same version as installed or a newer one + you need an RUU specific to your CID. I'm gonna try finding a fitting RUU.

Hello,
I tried to flush a RUU downloaded from sticky thread for Sensation. then i got an error saying Please use the correct RUU
RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.5_Radio_11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M_release_246089_signed.exe
Now i am stuck at RUU mode - screen with grey HTC logo and for triangles in every corner. Cannot get to bootloader, recovery, or start system,
When trying to flash another RUU i am told the phone is not connected via USB..... it is always in RUU screen with 4 triangles.
Is there any solution?
Please help
Thanks
What exactly is your device model? (Sensation/Sensation XE)
In your signature you have this model:
Code:
HTC J One (HTL22) (rooted)
4.2.2 Jellybean with HTC Sense freezed and Apex launcher
Are you S-On/S-Off?
If you have not the right RUU we could help you find it.But first try to give fastboot getvar all command and copy-paste what it prints (Remember to hide your IMEI and device serial number before you upload them here)
You can download the latest Europe RUU for Pyramid from here:
RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.33.401.6_Radio_11.76A.3504.00U_11.24A.3504.31_M_release_266171_signed.exe
You can check here and download the right RUU if this does not match with your cid.

I am stuck in RUU screen (grey logo with 4 triangles)
I have SuperCID and S-OFF
Please advise
Are there any fastboot commands that work from RUU screen ?
Thank you
After I let my phone sleep for a night, the phone allowed me to flash Ruu from Ruu screen with 4 triangles...
maybe needed some rest?
Anyway thanks very much for help and suggestions.
Can you use the command fastboot reboot-bootloader to get into bootloader from RUU mode?
I think you have try to install 3.33.401.6 (for my opinion EUROPE) package.Try again with the RUU I gave you in the previous post.If it does nothing for you try to install an official Sensation XE RUU.But as long as you are S-OFF and SuperCID user you shouldn't have some problem to install any RUU even if it brick your device.
You told you have a Sensation XE.So the official RUU for a XE device is a PYRAMID_LE.
You can download the latest EUROPE version from here:
RUU_PYRAMID_LE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.33.401.153_Radio_11.76A.3504.00U_11.24A.3504.31_M_release_281004_signed.exe
** Except your INFOimei you should also hide INFOserialno too. **
Hello
I fixed the problem as decribed in revious post. but thank you anyway...
I was not able to use fastboot commands from ruu screen. But now i can, i was not able to load to bootloader, but i was just able to run RUU.exe and it isntalled..
thanks

You are right.I know this may be mistaken but as long as he is s-off and supercid he can flash any RUU he wan'ts.By the way he told by himself he has a Sensation XE device.Anyway I think Sensation RUU's are working with Sensation XE devices so I supposed he had just flashed a wrong RUU to try it to his device.
Of cource I forgot to mention that. (Just those devices are somehow familiar)
