Jellybean mytouch 4g wifi calling? - myTouch 4G General

hey for the rom such as jellybean for the mytouch 4g
does that have wifi calling built in or will it ever come to mytouch 4g?

Probably won't happen in jellybean and beyond.
Synthetic nightmare has a aospx rom which is 4.0.4, I think it has wifi calling. I know for sure most gingerbread roms have it.

Yes. WiFi calling is a thing of the past

Nope, not for Jellybean & beyond. But there were some threads that showed how to cobble something together using PBXes, Sipdroid, and Google Voice a while back--try searching for those and see if that helps. Or try the Guardian Project:

4G icon

HI, first time posting please be easy on me.
I am looking for a ROM whcih can support Tmobile 4G network.
I have tried [LeeDROiD, Android Revolution HD, they both connect as " Edge" not 4G, does anyone knows how do I fix it?
All roms will show H there may be a ROM that shows the 4G symbol but it will simply be a mod to show that. T-MOBILE doesn't have true 4G service most people describle it as 3.5 or 3.75G. I'm using LeeDroid now and it holds a signal very well but I still have to test other roms to see what I want to stick with until CM7 comes.

[Q] TMO_US Wifi calling app

Hi There,
Im just curious if there's an tmous wifi calling app/apk compatible for my wife's inspire 4g?
I currently flashed Android revolution HD ROM yesterday and it runs smoothly - no bugs/lag etc.. however since we switch carrier from att to tmous I want to take advantage of the wifi calling feature from tmous.
I've search all the threads here and found al ot of solution but not on inspire 4g phone. I think there;s one thread that says it is possible on Virtuous Unity ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271861
The instructions are a bit advance to me... and there's no confirmation that it works.
Switch ROM or not
Goovie ip it's on the market
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using xda premium
Goovie ip is a great option! W/ a few exemption.
It would be nice for the recieving end to register my tmo number if im using the tmo wifi calling app.
Inspire 4g cannot get 3g/4g signal from tmo, only edge so groovie ip would be irrelevant with edge slow speed. Thats why TMO_US Wifi calling app is very ideal....
Sorry hope you come up with something.

T-Mobile Data Connection Problems?

I recently upgraded my phone to the new ICS software, I flashed the Virtuous Inquisition 2.1.0 and then 3.0.0 they both worked fantastically but when I turned my phone on after being on standby it would have a data connection but it wouldn't communicate with anything.
So getting fed up with that I flashed the update given by InsertCoin ICS and then flashed the ROM.
It is now doing the same thing again?
It's very finicky as to when it works and when it won't. But when it works it works well?
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

same problem, it works, but not well, it used to go from 4g or H to 2g, now it goes to 3g and hangs. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Same here. Data seems really buggy on all the ics builds I have used for my tmo sensation. Not sure if it is firmware or Rom problems.

+1 I think I've had this problem with every android phone I ever had. I wish there was an option to just leave the data on at all times like home internet. I hate that it has to search for signal and connect every time I click something because it always hangs. Yea 4G is fast but if it has to dial up the internet every time I use it whats the point? The only fix I know for hanging internet is to toggle airplane mode. Which is some BS in IMHO.
Is there a way to disable 3g so it only bounces 4g to 2g?

I flashed the virtuous firmware update and formatted all partitions except for the SD card, and its been working for the last week very consistantly.
To my knowledge there is no way to turn on and off searching for 3g and only switch between 4g and 2g. Because I believe Tmobile's. 4g is just faster 3g? Idk.

Why is it so difficult to port WiFi Calling?

WiFi Calling doesn't exist on any of the custom ROMs unless it's based off of a T-Mobile ROM. Did they change the way WiFi Calling works?
What does it take port it over?
All I'm looking for is a Vanilla ICS ROM (AOSP, CM9, something like that) with WiFi Calling.

The wifi calling is built into the framework its not just an apk like it was before
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
Does it run off of drivers or something? Can't we port it over from another device (that has WiFi calling) running AOSP?
Sorry for the noobiness.
I'm on t mobile how do I get WiFi calling and what's so good about it ?

You need to enable it in the settings:
Settings > More > WiFi Calling
It allows you to substitute your actual cell signal for WiFi. For instance, if you're in a dead zone, and you can't get any service, turn on WiFi Calling and you'll be able to make calls and receive texts!
It's an absolute necessity for me.
I used the sim card that came with the phone, and whenever I try using wifi calling, it says that my sim is not compatible and to contact tmobile to get a proper compatible sim.
Have you tried calling T-Mobile about it?

What ROM are you using? If you're not running a T-Mobile ROM (for now), you won't have this feature.
You also need to have T-Mobile.

I'm using leedroid Rom I am on t mobile is it only available on T-Mobile not available on o2? And does that mean I don't have the feature?
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
Leedroid doesn't support it. It's only for T-Mobile customers.
Does anyone know what from the framework is needed to port it?
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
Nah, I'm too lazy. On my Sensation, the feature wasn't so great. People couldn't understand what I was saying, so I figured it must still suck on this phone.
Every report of wifi calling, even in stock, said it sucked. It's built into the framework of TMOUS ROMs and there's little incentive to try and port it into others. Try Skype.

The feature is great on this device (according to my experience with it). I'm able to learn to understand whatever you have to teach me / I can help you with if you're willing to help port it.
What do you need help with?

It's not a "port". You can't just take the sense framework and tweak some configuration file or platform variable and have it work. Wifi calling is part of Sense now... No Sense, no Wifi calling, just like the Sense clock or any other widget.
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
Someone on the Trickdroid thread had the idea of taking the Sense framework and incorporating it into an .apk. Is that possible?
Why not just run a de-sensed Trickdroid with Nova or Apex launcher? Mostly the same experience as AOSP if you don't notice the performance hit.
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
I could do the same thing with Axiom S-Less (which has WiFi calling built in and is updated) but I want the full AOSP experience.
It might be mental, but I've always had a smoother experience with full AOSP versus de-Sensed ROMs. I'm speaking from experience with my T-Mo G2 days.
So if I use WiFi calling will it still use my mins?
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
Yes it will. It's good for situations where you have no cell reception.

4g Tether on JB 4.2

Can anyone recommend a rom, app, or method that will allow tether over 4g on 4.2?
I've tried native tether on rasbean and HP's rom. I've also tried WiFi tether app and have been unsuccessful in my efforts. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
Any suggestions at all?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
I think the issue is that people aren't having the same issue as you are. Native tethering doesn't work for me, but the "WiFi Tether" app does.
Thanks for responding. What you say is very peculiar. I've now tried two 4.2 ROMs and 4g tether didn't work on either (with or without WiFi tether app). Perhaps I'm using wrong an incompatible kernel or rom.
1. What rom/kernel combo are you running?

It may also be your provider - the upgrade to 4.1.2 "enforces carrier settings" on tethering. It actually makes me ponder rolling back to ICS so I can use native tethering, to be honest.

I've managed to get Wifi Tether to work on the Provision Rom for 4.1.2. No luck with 4.2.1, though.
