Hi guys,
I've got a replica of a Galaxy Note 2 5 months ago. It worked alright till today, when I turned it off to replace the battery and it never loaded back.
It's rooted. When I try to enter recovery mode, only the dead droid with the red triangle appears.
I've changed the battery again. Waited for a long time, but it never passes the samsung logo.
Can someone help me with it?

So the problem is caused by the battery change? It never happened before. Anyway, thanks for trying to help. Unfortunately, when i'm on that screen with the red triangle, nothing happens. I've tried lots of combinations of the hard buttons, but no menu appears. Is there an specific order of pressing, or time? Can you give me detailed information on the process?

Well, no success. I turn on the phone holding v up + power. It starts with a "recovery msg" below. Then it enters the screen with the red triangle. On that screen, nothing happens. I did as you told, and tried the following combinations: v up + power, v down + power, v up + home + power, and v down + home + power, for 20 seconds each try, and still, the same screen, no menu, no msg.
I have to mention again that it's a fake galaxy note 2, not a real samsung one.
Any other directions?

HY,the recovery that you went in was the stock, you said that you are rooted, and i assume you also have a custom recovery, where you flash roms, kernells, etc.I suggest that you should press v up +power+home, and release all 3 when the device model appears(galaxy note 2),if you can reach that make a backup of the device, and after you did it delete cache, dalvik from recovery and restore he backup.

Well, I remember using only a windows software to root. "Super One Click" if I'm not mistaken. The process was really simple, and i didn't do anything other then some clicks to root. No rom, kernell, backup or other stuff. It was simple, so that's why I did it.
About the phone, releasing the buttons still takes me to the red triangle screen. Using the v down instead of v up takes me to factory menu. The volume buttons only navigate through the options, but nothing selects them.

Well, as I told the post before, nothing selects any of the options on factory mode. Volume just navigates, and that's it. Power or home don't do a thing. I don't have a "fastboot" option on the menu either. I'm starting to give up. Any more ideas?
Just one advice, dont buy fake phone

Guys,
I've tried various searches but I can't come up with an answer that works for me.
When attempting a factory/hardware reset one has two choices:
1. Use the software option.
2. Hardware option using button presses.
I'm looking for a procedure to execute option 2. I can get into the bootloader (Vol Up + Power).
Once in the bootloader, I can navigate to the "Recovery" option but once selected my NS doesn't appear to do anything, it just sits there with an "!" inside a triangle and the little android-droid on the screen.
I doesn't move from there no matter how long I leave it and there are no prompts/confirmations.
Once in that state, if I remove the battery and the reboot the phone boots up as if nothing happened...everything is still there, all my accounts still work etc. Basically the actions had no effect.
Does anyone know how to factory reset the device properly? My device non-root btw.
TIA,
Syphon.
I think, for the stock recovery, once you get the ! in the triangle you need to press or hold volume-up and power button again, then it will take you to recovery.
Ah cool.
Thanks for the tip, I will remember that for the next time I need to do it!!

On my phone, after 2.3.1, it's power button first, then while holding it, volume up, and only while the box dumping an arrow onto the little android is showing (maybe a second or so). Once the "!" in a triangle is showing, no key combo will get my phone into recovery. Timing is critical. Took me a few tries and a few helpful posts here to get it right.
Oh, also, you can do the ULTIMATE factory reset on this device by doing a "fastboot oem unlock" on the device (then relock it with "fastboot oem lock"). This wipes the sd card as well as the personal data in the rom space.
Awesome, thanks for all the information guys. Much appreciated.
Hi
I have a Samsung Nexus S for past 5 months. I recently upgraded to the ICS. Last week, I was listening songs on my phone and all of a sudden out of nowhere the phone re-started.
After couple of minutes, saw a message on screen saying “encryption unsuccessful, you have lost all your data. This phone will now need to rebooted”.
Underneath this message, there was only 1 option of REBOOT NOW. I had to press the button since I had no other option.
After this the phone restarted but never went past the start up animation screen. After couple of days, I gave it another shot and after going past the welcome screen, it gave me the option to register the phone again. But as soon as that screen comes up, I get all these small messages saying, email has stopped, music has stopped, android process has stopped, calendar has stopped................ at this point the phone virtually hangs itself and I can’t do anything.
Can someone please advise what is wrong with my phone and how can I fix it?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Try this, power the phone off, now press and hold the volume up & power botton at the same time, a menu should appear, now use the volume up/down buttons till "RECOVERY" is highlighted green, now press the power button, the phone will now reboot and in to recovery and show an android on the screen, at this point you need to press and hold the power button then press volume up briefly, a menu should appear, use the volume up/down buttons to highlight "wipe data/factory reset" and press the power button, now use the volume up/down buttons to highlight "Yes -- delete all user data" once this is done select "reboot system now", this process will wipe the phone and put it back to factory settings, it won't delete usb storage though so you may need erase usb storage once you're up and running again.

yeah, try using clockwork recovery.
that's much more usfeul than the stock one
i tried doing clockwork recovery, I cant unlock the bootloader, i did all the steps ie installed android drivers, went to command prompt, typed the command, I can see the option of unlocking bootloader on android but when I select yes, it still says locked. I guess I will have to give up on this phone.

power button doesn't work either? I thought that functioned as the 'enter' button... Imnuts' post will work for sure, but I have to ask why are you in the stock android recovery? unless you meant CWM?
Thanks imnuts, what is the easiest way to adb reboot?
My screen is showing similar to the attached photo but the trackball statement it instead says: [Enter: Home Key, Select : Vol UP / Vol Down
Its asking me to use the home key for my enter but my home key is not functioning. But if you know of an alternative I am happy to hear what your thoughts are.

ADB (Android Debug Bridge, I think) is tethering your phone to your pc and pushing/pulling files or forcing commands to your phone using the command terminal... it doesn't work right away as you need the latest android sdk files, java/jdk files, and altered C:/ path directory (assuming you're running windows, I think thats how it works if anyone can help me out here )
does the power button work as a 'select' button though? also can't you just battery pull and restart the phone or does it restart right into that recovery? just an FYI that is the stock android recovery which you can't (or rather shouldn't) be doing anything in, CWM is recommended... I vaguely recall there being another button that would work like the search button but I'm not sure
Thanks for the advise anoninja118, I appreciate the help.
So last night I tried ADB but was not successful at it, maybe ill look into that more. Unfortunately my phone does not allow the power button to work as the 'select' button. Yeah and pulling the battery leads me back to the same recovery screen. What is CWM?

CWM is Clockwork Mod, its the custom version of that recovery that will allow you to flash files and change options: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112804
you can flash superuser (what gives you root access) easily in there and just reboot and presto you're rooted... I haven't seen any tutorials on how to use CWM since its fairly easy, to boot into it just hold power+volume up+home until 'Samsung' appears then let go of power and hold the other two until it comes up, then use volume keys and power button to navigate and select
Odin is required to install CWM first though and this thread gives a little info on that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160580

HY,you need to press home+power+volume down, but you need to do this when your phone is shut down. When you feel a vibration let go the power button and keep holding volume+home till you get to recovery(CWM) and proceed to backup/restore click backup, and youre done.PLEASE PRESS THANKS IF I HELPED YOU!!!!!
Thanks for the reply! I did the Volume Up + Home + Power button and release the Power once the Samsung S3 logo comes up (I've disabled the startup vibration). Once I do this, it takes me to this screen where the Android bot has fallen down and a red triangle with an exclamation mark is placed on top of it. There are options to do reset, flash, update from ex. sd card but NO option to do back up .... Next to the Android bot, there is a text that reads Multi-CSC successfully done.

HY,do you have CWM recovery installed as it should on your android device?
Yep. I went to the Google Play store and downloaded the CW ROM Manager. Before this, I did root my phone using a method suggested in this thread earlier, via ODIN.
Am I missing something that I had to do?

HY, you can remove the red triangle by going to play store and download triangleaway apk from CHAINFIRE.I think that it should work, but if it doesnt do what you did before to get to the recovery that gave you the red triangle and press again power button +volume up,on moust devices this works.
Hello,
sorry that I have to bother you with this.
I had a S6 (G920F) with Maniacx Ressurection Remix Unofficial OREO 6.10 , with Magisk 7.10 and TWRP 3.2.1 running.
Because of a problem with calls, I flashed a .zip that fixed the problem before (it's CallAudioFix.zip in that thread – can't find it right now, but I can look for it later if it's any help). That sent my phone into a bootloop.
My problem is that I can't boot into Recovery or Download mode. Windows (in a VirtualBox) finds a SAMSUNG_Android device per USB, but ODIN can't find it (doesn't show anything under ID:COM). ADB in my terminal finds the phone, but it shows it as unauthorized, so I can't use it, either.
I appreciate any help – thanks in advance!

Thanks for your tip, didn't work for me, sadly. If I press and hold the combination for the recovery, I get back into my bootloop. If I press the combination for download mode, nothing happens until I hold it for too long and trigger the battery disconnect (volume down + power).

I'll rather avoid trying to remove the battery for that.
If I hold all buttons, I can only get the "Samsung S6" screen to flash for a second before it goes off and on again (tried for a minute as you suggested).
I tried holding the combos before the kernel screen, directly at it and holding it for a minute, but it only sends me back to the bootloop. Also, I don't get any text on the kernel screen.
Guess I have to keep trying around for a bit...
Try after that flash appears for second to press combo fast i remember that worked for me at same state of bootloop
