Hey Flyhalf!
I just flashed your recovery. but when entering recovery I only get HTC-screen with small pink text "Entering Recovery..." and nothing happens.
flashing was successful:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
sending 'recovery' (7880 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.088s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 2.106s]
finished. total time: 3.194s
any ideas?
I can confirm also - doesn't boot.

I cant help notice that he said don't flash it, just boot it and it looks like you flashed it.
Try booting the img rather than flashing it.
Hopefully it will work. Good luck!

If it doesn't work flashing it, then it won't work booting it either.
Flyhalf suggested booting it, using the fastboot boot file.img command, so that it's temporary.

mmmmh. that makes sense :good:
If we can get this recovery with just adbd running properly then we can flash it to someone's phone, dump the boot.img, make it insecure to get root and flash it to someone else's phone and then dump the stock recovery to get a proper custom recovery
Maybe if @Flyhalf205 replied to this we could get something going
Okay. So where do we stand now. So the recovery does not boot in the OP? And @theodorius123 how are you mounting RW the system?

so i just did this root and all and cant get cm10 to boot it just sits at the bootscreen and i do not believe its in a boot loop because its not noticable that it starts over any one that can help me would be appreciated. im not new to this stuff just been a while since the 2.20 update
Did you flash it through recovery? I can never get my ROMs to flash properly with goomanager. Oh and ROM manager is known to have issues with our phone . Also make sure you have TWRP. CWM is also known to have issues. Otherwise I'd hold down power and volume down. Get into recovery and wipe and reflash. One more thing.. chrome for me has downloaded corrupt zip files.

Ya what Omario said.
I think folks are confused on that step 10 for the new root process. You have to fast boot flash a recovery and flash superuser before reboot or you loose root. Has anyone had this stick yet that can open an op. The Q&A thread is getting flooded. Id like to see folks get through this though.

I wonder if people are going to start flashing intl Roms again hopefully not.
it wont really matter if they do with the hboot, unless they go way out of there way to do it.
goo.im, and ROM Manager both have issues.
Tried downloading a rom from goo and it kept giving me md5 hash mismatch, downloaded the zip separate along with boot and everything flashed fine. just make sure if you need to wipe data that you do so.

Follow this link - Flash boot.img without PC for those on 2.20! Switch ROMs & restore backups on the go.
adding to that... even if you are changing ROMS if the kernel is compatible with new ROM there should be no problem.
If you are just updating to new version of same ROM and if there are no changes in kernel, there is no need to re-flash boot.img
cm10 has completely different kernel.. so whenever you switch from sense to aosp or viceversa, boot.img needs to be flashed through fastboot or by using the method in the link posted by abhipati above

"If you have the newer HBOOT 1.14 (you probably do if coming from stock 2.20), boot.img's will have to be flashed separately via fastboot. Extract the boot.img from you ROM zip of choice and put it in the same directory as fastboot. Reboot your device into boot loader and run "'fastboot flash boot boot.img' (no quotes)
You can then flash the ROM" - thanks to

I'm currently on paranoid android 2.51 jb ROM. I did the root exploit since I was stuck on 2.20
And before I flashed paranoid android I made a twrp backup of stock sense.
Ok this is what I need help on because I was on 2.20 I had to flash the boot.img along with the custom ROM to get it working, now what I need to know is if I restore my twrp backup do I need to flash the boot.img so I can go back to stock? If so how can I get the boot.img from my backup that I made? I copied backup to my computer to look for the boot.img but there's nothing there
I wanted to post here before I make a new thread
TWRP restore does not boot
I used TWRP 2.3.1 to back up the rooted stock rom on my AT&T One X firmware 2.20. I then proceeded to flash Viper X 2.6.0 but the phone was stuck in boot loop even after I flashed the boot.img in the Viper zip file. I was able to get back into TWRP and run the restore. However, the phone continues to be in a boot loop even after the restore.
Did I miss any steps in the restore process for TWRP?
ViperX isn't for you phone. Your lucky you can get back into twrp. You need to flash your boot.img backup in fastboot.
For people trying to flash the style backup and can't find the boot.img you should be able to fastboot boot.emmc.win just as a normal boot.img.
