Need help..phone won't boot up or recovery - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Guys my phone was acting up. I tried to boot into recovery, and it wouldn't go. Splash screen came up and had recovery booting in upper left hand, than it just vibrated and kept doing just that. I pulled battery and put it back in and automatically vibrated. Now it just keeps doing that. I just wanted to clear cache and now it's doing this!
Every time I put my battery back in, it wants to automatically boot into recovery. But than just keeps vibrating.
EDIT: it booted into recovery and went back to its cycle. I think it has to do with my screwed up power button. Not sure what to do?!?

I had the same issue.
You can send it in to get fixed, our pull out the power button like I did.
Sucks either way

How do you operate recovery and getting into it? My phone is back up now. I just tried recovery again and had the same loop problem. Not sure if I should try going back to complete stock.
Does the phone have to be less than a year old to take it into Verizon? Its older than a year. Is it worth trying to go into Verizon?

I was able to turn the phone on after taking the power button out by sticking a pin in the hole and pushing down on the button within the hole.
This was also how I diagnosed it was my power button for sure. I could just flick the button in the hole without paying down and the screen would shut off.
I was told this is a hassle to fix because it could be a short on the power cable. I'm just sticking with my phone like this for now

Ohhhh. Yeah, I'm afraid to take my power button off.
I thought it was software at first. I clean flashed BoneStock and it went away. Then when I double pressed the button today it started happening again. I wanted to try flashing CleanRom but I can't even get into recovery.

It's sds sudden death syndrome it's a known issue with the power button. It's defective.

Oh ok thanks. What are the recommendations for dealing with the issue? I know the user above me took his actual button out. Anyway it could be covered? I'm about to go back to grad school and last thing I need is a defective phone.

Take it to store they will repair it, in most cases it's covered.

[Q] BRICKED Infuse....Maybe unfixable?

So basically I have tried every which way to fix this freaking phone from not bootlooping. I've had the similar problem, but somehow managed to get it to stay in download mode before, just so i could get it to flash a stock rooted rom, but now that doesn't even work. It just randomly started looping on me. This video shows what I mean....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BHn7mxQdQY&feature=plcp
When it got back to Samsung, were you able to do 3 finger salute and get into recovery. Hold power down till logo goes away. Fingers on vol up and down then release power button. See if that works. Jig kick started it but you might need to take it the next step.

Yeah I've definitely done that. But it just keeps going to the logo. When I put the battery in it automatically starts boot looping.

Your power button is faulty.
You can open up your phone and try cleaning the contacts.

Yeah that's what I thought, when you say the power button contacts, would that be the little white button inside?? I've taken it apart and done my best to get it unstuck or something.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Not quite sure. I have never had the need of dismantling my phone, but I have read something about the contacts, which sounds to me it could be beneath that white button.

Thanks I'll give that a shot!
Edit* Couldn't find anything to clean, next step is the mother board i suppose,,,

[Q] Phone spazzing out

I'm using the Embryo latest update.
One day I'm texting and suddenly my phone turns off. It will erratically turn itself on and off. Sometimes when it turns off, it will just vibrate in spurts continuously until I click the power button. I have re-flashed the phone and same issue.
Anyone know if this is a common problem? If so, any solutions?

You my friend, have power button issues. Usually the phone turns off, vibrates every two seconds, and you have to send it in to samsung. This will probably end up happening to your phone.

Do a battery pull. When you put the battery back in, if it turns on, you may have a stuck power button.

So you mean there are people so uncoordinated they can't pull out 6 screws and use something thin to pop the case.
If they wanna pay cool but its really an easy fix. Just blows my mind people will take the risk to root but won't bother with anything else.

I know when I had power button issues it wasn't stuck or dirty cuz I pulled it apart and cleaned the hell out of it and nothing. Turned out parts in the button was bad. Then someone at samsung screwed it up and didn't do well at his/her saughtering class cuz the next day it went haywire and wouldn't turn on. Had to send it back and yell at some Indians that wouldn't listen to me on the phone on customer service.

At lest u got warranty mines out of warranty and I have the issue so I just use a work around kinda a pain took me a long time to not use the power button out of habit.

Power button starting to not function?

Anybody else have this issue? It's as if its very sensitive too. I can barely touch the power button and my phone screen will shut off, but immediately come back on. Also if you actually press the button, the screen will shut off than come back on. Anyone else have this kind of issue?
Yeah this happened to mine just two days ago. I ended up pulling the button off entirely and using the phone without it. Super frustrating.
Power button failure is a common known issue with S3 devices. Take it back in most cases they replace the device.

Any way to backup my phone image? Getting a refurb from VZW >.<

Your power button is broken in what way? Broken as in even removing it and pressing the white button under the board does absolutely nothing?
Is the phone powered on? If so, just boot into TWRP via your rom or GooManager and perform a backup. Transfer that zip to a computer. If the phone is currently powered off, I'm afraid I know of no way to get it powered on unless you disassemble it. Maybe someone else knows a way?

Well, I can power it on and off...but the power button is very sensitive, even touching near the side will cause it to stick. If you press it the screen will constantly turn on and off, and sometimes the power menu will keep showing up.
I did a twrp backup to my external SD. Is there anything else I need to do so the new phone recognizes it?

I actually received my 2nd refurb today from Verizon due to the same issue. The first 6 months of owning the phone, I had the power button sensitivity issue where I won't even need to push it to turn on/off the screen. Now 8 months later, the exact same thing is happening. Now I'm just wondering if I can just flash the stock image and send it back rooted/unlocked.

Power Button/Download mode issues.

I've been having a few problems lately. Ever since the 4.3 update, my power button is REALLY sensitive. I can barely tap it and it will bring up the power menu. Sometimes hitting the power button doesn't work. I don't think it is a hardware problem as I've disassembled the s3 and the logic board and power switch are fine.
Part two:
I thought this and the battery drain/charging issues I've been having may have been due to a bad OTA so I attempted to boot to download and reflash the rom with ODIN.
Herein lies the problem. When I boot to download mode (which is almost impossible because of the power button problems) it will sit there for a moment then reboot. To clarify, I can get into download mode where it tells me how many times I've tripped the flash counter, etc. After that it reboots. Also when it does reboot, sometimes it loops, again I assume this is due to the power button issues.
Any help would be appreciated.

I just had the same problem, then the next day it stopped working altogether. I just paid, yesterday as a matter a fact, 30 bucks to have my power button replaced. So far, so go! Just find a reputable cell phone repair company in your area.

I know what your talking about and it's only happened to me after updating to 4.3 OTA.
The power/phone options menu I'm talking about is the power button long press.
Well, this comes up without touching the button. It's like it's some kind of static, because it'll do it several times in a row while randomly shutting off the screen, etc.
Very frustrating.

It might not be a 4.3 problem but a physical problem. This is a extreme case but your phones might be on there way. If you are having the same problem as this thread the fix should work for you.
