Changed LCD, now NO SIGNAL???? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I changed my display today and can't get the damn phone to pick up the AT&T signal. i completely wiped and installed the 6.10 (3.0 kernel) nightly with gapps and 3.18 radio, and nothing i do will get the damn thing to get a signal
can someone pull their sim card, reboot and tell me if the signal still says 0db with no sim card installed?
I'm losing my mind with this phone, every time i fix something something else breaks
LOSING IT

Chances are you've broken/disconnected something while inside the phone.

Chances as in.. 98%ish chances

Pull it apart again and look, only way I know to find out for sure. My guess would be you screwed the antenna up. Anything else not work? WiFi? GPS?

Second what everyone else said. I had to take my phone apart two EXTRA times after replacing my LCD, one to reconnect an antenna I didn't fully seat (it might even LOOK connected, but not be), and the second time to fix the camera (same). Ain't easy bud.

My DHD GSM module is dead

Hi,
Something very strange happened to my DHD. Out of nowhere my reception went dead with no signal. I've changed the SIM card and tried another provider, but this did not get me a signal at all. I've flashed the newest radio (17th of Jan) - same thing. I did wipe (without data) of Android Revolution HD 2.0.7 and still no change. Now I'm back on 12.28e.60.140fU_26.04.02.17_M2 and will perform a full wipe, although I don't think that this will fix my mobile service... Any ideas?
edit: No, full wipe didn't help...Does this mean that my radio module is piece of junk now?
I really don't know what could have happened to your radio module. I'd flash the latest WWE Radio again, turn off the phone and remove the battery. Let it cool down for some time and then try again. Sometimes this trick does miracles
You could try running the ruu .exe 1.32.405.6 Rom and return to stock if it still does not work at least you half way to returning to stock for warranty purpose

Nope, removing the battery didn't help. Thanks for the hint anyway.
Yes, I'll revert to RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.72.405.3_R_Radio_12.28e.60.140f_ 26.04.02.17_M2_release and return it with the statement that I've applied the HTC OTA update...this should work.

Yeah as long as it wasn't branded phone and remember to change the cid to the correct one and apply s-on

Stupid question, but the battery and sim covers have connectors to the antenai on them, there is nothing blocking this contact is there?
Edit: probably should be posted in the general or q+a section too
The cover is on. However, it does work when it's not covered...used to work at least.
Anyways, yes, wrong section...I'm not sure how to move it.
are the covers damaged in any way? you could also try using a lint free cloth to ensure the connectors arn't dirty or anything or test someone elses cover on the device if you know anybody with one... if your anything like me, sending your phone in for service is like having your arm chopped off!

I see that the Revolution HD 2.0.7 has been removed. Maybe try roll back to 2.0.6?
The problem is half fixed...It seems that the GSM module has crapped the two different SIM chips (2 different providers). I just put a brand new SIM card and it was working for half a minute, now this one is dead too. I'm not sure what is causing the defection...shouldn't be the OC, huh? I'll full wipe with no OC before I plug my next card.
Might be a hardware fault, could you check if those cards work on other phones? I think that the phone might simply provide too much voltage for the sim, thus frying it.

I've tried them on other devices and they are not working. I'm also thinking that the cards are fried by the DHD.
Do a search on this topic, as far as I remember (it's a lil bit shady) I think there was another person that their DHD was frying SIMs, and he had to return and exchange it...

Grey signal with x wont reconnect

I have this issue when im at work where i get crap att coverage where eventually from being low for so long and staying on wifi my phone signal goes to zero and a grey x shoes up above them.
This wouldnt be so bad but it wont reconnect with a reboot or airplane mode reset which means if i dont check my phone i get no calls or info.
Is this normal? Is there a fix?
Thanks

This is an old issue. I'm not sure when the fix happened or what ATT radio would fix it for you but there is a simple (ish) solution. Basically, whats happening is that when your phone loses signal for an extended period of time it shuts off the radio and then cannot restart it. Using NoBars will stop your phone's radio from dying like that and will just periodically poll for signal.
That will fix the issue but just to satisfy my own curiosity, on your SDcard are there a bunch of files called Radio Dump and then a bunch of numbers?
Sorry posted on my phone and didnt notice the grammar errors
Yes i have the radio dump files but havent checked since installing the F1 radio.
I will try that app since this issue has followed me on multiple roms and radios
If there was a fix i havent gotten it
Thanks man
Edit
Just installed nobars but realized its a battery saver like juice defender
I will keep my hopes up tho
This ONLY happns when at my desk at work where att has no dark hold on me

you could try manually resetting your radio if that is actually the problem. just dial *#*#4636#*#* next time you're at your desk and go to phone information. if you scroll down it should say either turn off radio or turn on radio. try turning it on if it's already off, or resetting it by turning it off and then on again. I don't think this would be a permanent fix though. just a temporary solution when the problem arises.

Nobars will shut off your radio and stop it from dying. Trust me it works. My wife and I used it foe months waiting for the issue to be resolved. The radio dumps mean you're having the same issue.

I actually go into the carrier menu when i install a new radio anyway. Going in and out of airplane mode resets the radio but the problem is if I dont actually look at my phone (in my pocket) i wont know the radio shut off and can go through the day without getting any contact. I know its not the rom cause Im on stock. I know its not the radio cause I have tried about every one.
Its got to be a mix of crappy ATT service (which makes me wonder if resigning was worth this phone for free) and the nexus s hardware.
I am seeing if noBars will help. You would think this would be something google would fix ASAP tho as its happened since day one almost.

It is odd since this was a massive issue from day one of the Nexus S but that was before any of the other variants and it was fixed before any of the other variants launched. Since that fix, I've not heard of anyone having the issue any more with any variant. Part of the issue for my wife and I was that we lived in an area where there was really no good cell coverage from any company, so we stayed with T-Mo in spite of that knowing that we were moving soon to an area with great T-mo coverage, but being out of service so much resulted in similar issues as you've had: we would be constantly restarting our phones to see if there was anything we were missing. I do believe this will work for you, and I hope you find a permanent solution soon.
Thanks for the tip but i guess i am the lucky guy who still has the issue lol
Maybe hardware related? I will see what ice cs brings me
For today nobars helped but i did notice some batt drain from it but very minimal so its a keeper for now

Crappy wifi?

i usually never have any trouble with the WiFi on my phone, but for some reason the wifi is seriously failing the last couple days. I'm connecting to the same wifi network my computer is on and the computer is running very fast. Is it possible to mess with the wifi adapter?

Have you taken off your battery cover lately? I believe the wifi connections are back there and if you have taken off the battery cover, they might not touching all the way giving spotty wifi...
Yep tried that. Everything is connecting tight.
I dropped the phone the day I started having the issue but it was only about a foot long drop, and the bottom of the phone hit the ground first.
Could that be affecting anything? I dropped my iPhone 3GS more times than i've dropped my Inspire and i never had trouble with the wifi in that. Not trying to knock the Inspire because i couldnt stand anything about the iPhone when i had it.
Don't be careless and drop phones! That deserves any wifi issues lol

Tough to tell ya know. Each drop will do something different, I mean I've dropped my phone from my balcony and no problems...I'm going to make a bold assumption that you're rooted? If you are, reflash the ROM and see if that will help.

Re-flashing will completely wipe the phone correct? I haven't devled into the world of flashing and re-flashing roms. I've only rooted, flashed CM7, and updated the nighties as they were available.

To be honest I would do a nand back up and flash a Non CM based rom and see if it helps.

Is there more to a nand backup?

No that is a nand backup. It backs up your whole rom.
I usually stick to sense ROMs, but this should be universal. once I had that problem and flashed a new kernel and it was better than ever. Might want to give that a shot if your reflash doesn't work or you don't want to reflash.
He dropped his phone. I doubt that suddenly made a kernel or rom act up.

Ok I'll give you that. I have also dropped mine. I'm just throwing out possible options for him. Possibly his battery jarred and a config file in his kernel controlling his wifi power corrupted. or something got moved and is interfering with the wifi signal but his computer antenna is strong enough compensate. Yes highly unlikely, I know. Like I said, just trying to expend all possible options. Sorry if that came off as rude or disrespectful to your senior member status, it was not intended in that manor.
Not rude at all.
Just mildly comical when people are so careless as to repeatedly drop phones and then wonder why things go wrong and think software is going to help it. If you drop your phone REPEATEDLY you kind of have it coming. Well see him next asking glass replacement help hahaha.

Haha good point... And mine is in the otterbox so... I mean the worst I have done was dropped it in the blender. Is that too bad to fix? Jk
As for releasing and renewing... Good point there, and he may also need a router reboot if DHCP is Hung.

That's actually a pretty harsh and rude assumption from a senior member. Just because i'm not up to speed on the development portion of my device does not mean I don't take care of it. Yeah it's been dropped. It happens. This happened to be one of the VERY few times i don't have it in my Speck Candy Shell or Seidio Surface cases. I try to take care of my investments.

I've done a router and modem reboot a few times now (when I thought that was cause of the issue).
Haven't done the IP release and re negotiation before.
I have a fix for dropping your phone. Its really simple. Save up and pay for one full price. After dropping 500+ on the phone you will not drop it more then once.
Also, I just took the battery cover off and noticed that i'm missing one of the 2 screws that are supposed to be there. The one closest to the top, by the connectors on the door. Wondering if that may be causing and issue as well?
I doubt it dude. It might, but if the gold pronged are making contact, you should be good. I assume you have cleared your browser cache on the phone or at least done an actual reboot to clear temp files? I know sometimes I have force stop the problematic apps and clear their cache if my internet shows connected bit doesn't seem to work.

no signal or data after ics install

i have an issue. i cant get any signal or data whenever i flash either an ics rom or jb rom, but works perfectly fine with gb roms. back when LC's v4 of his rom was out, i was using it with no problem. after that thats when it started giving me problems. ive tried typing in the apns manually and everything, it doesnt stick. sometimes messing with the phone, like turning it on/off or switching airplane mode on/off, would some times cause it to get reception or doing the network operators thing in the mobile setting will give me reception but no data. im currently on cm7, and ive tried every ics and jb rom that we have out and its the same thing. ive checked the leads and sim card and doesnt seem to be anything wrong. id unroot the phone and start from scratch but i dont have a working vol+ button. and dont know if the carrier matters but im running on simple mobile. if anyone knows and/or can help, id really appreciate it. thanks
I've heard people have similar issues on simple mobile. Probably a problem on their end. Also if your volume button is fail then who knows what else could be going out. Bad devices usually develop more than one issue when they start to go.

Oh okay thanks. Guess I'm gonna stick with gb till I change phones.
But the for the reason my volume up button doesn't work is because it got some water in it when putting on my screen protector. Just wanted to throw that out there

Maybe too much water got into it and fried another circuit related to data and wifi? ics roms are pretty new and still a bit buggy... which ones have you tried? I'm using xgs-series 2.3.9 with no problems as of right now.

The button problem happened before. I've tried all of them and it's the same thing. Haven't have issue with wifi or on gb, and I've been able to use ics up until LC's ics 4. something. The only thing that works is the network operater thing in the mobile settings. I can run on tmobile with no data, but once I shut off the phone it'll either have no service or randomly say to insert sim. I'd try a att sim, but I don't know anyone with att.

When you say you've "typed in the APN manually and it doesn't stick", do you mean the phone isn't saving the information, or that it only gets reception for a short time?
The phone isn't saving it.

Not getting texts until reboot?

Ever since I bought my phone, before being rooted and even on stock ROM, I'll get delayed text messages and they wont recieve until I reboot my phone or switch airplane mode on and off. Then they hit me ALL at once. This happens atleast once a day and people will end up thinking I'm ignoring them because of this problem. Is it a problem with the HTC One X in general? or Android? It still happens on every single ROM I tried too and I have tried various radios and none fix it. I am on AT&T, and currently on MagioRom. It still does it regardless of what ROM though. This is the one single thing that I have just sort of learned to put up with, as much as I hate it. I came from an iPhone and they never had that problem so I really miss that. I reboot my phone about 5 times a day to remedy it. Besides that this phone is amazing of course.
Oh and was the bug with iPhone screenshots being sent through text to the One X and coming out really really tiny ever fixed? Im still getting that problem too.
It's not a problem with the phone or Android as such. Do you ever suffer signal drops which may cause this to happen? Or do you live in an area with low signal? It sounds more like a carrier bug to me.

I always have great signal, no signal drops ever, so I never thought it would be my carrier, thats strange... Now I don't know if its AT&T or a defect with my phone...
It could be an issue with your phone? Have you tried running an RUU? I'd do that and leave it stock fire a few days to see if it continues. You'll want to make sure you're safe to RUU first though, what are your hboot details?
Sent from my Evita
Hboot 1.14
I can't RUU yet though cause I'm still S-On, which I haven't tried to do yet because I didnt wanna risk messing my phone up... Would that actually help?
And could it be an Hboot version problem or firmware problem? Cause I bought my phone about 1 year ago and it came with Icecream Sandwich. And I've had to deal with this problem the entire year.
It could be anything. Do you have SuperCID? You definitely must get s-off before running an RUU.
Sent from my Evita
Yep, it says 111111111111
I'll try getting S-Off and running RUU then, I just really wanted to avoid doing that but I guess I have no choice.
Sometimes it's the only way to find out what you're dealing with. The process is simple, it took me five minutes.
