[Q] freezes at boot - Milestone XT720 General

ive read a ton of threads w/ similar issues & possible solutions but ive not found 1 for mine (short of the following that was found on a dead battery thread).
Summary:
the only time i can seem to get my xt720 to boot fully is if i pull the battery out for a couple days (more than 1, 3 works best)
History:
weve had the phone for years, rooted & have run multiple roms never any issue aside from the occasional "force close". a few weeks back my daughter started getting an error "memory getting full" or something similar to that on occasion. one nite she turned the phone off the next day when turning on it was stuck on boot screen (white m logo), she left it on & the battery died, i recharged the battery (in another phone) & was only able to get to the bootloader or frozen m to come up (although i didnt remove battery & wait a few days).
What ive done:
ive flashed the original 2.1 (STR_U2_03.20.1.sbf) back on w/ rds lite & have been able to root the phone again following dexter methode(the way i did it years back).
Problem:
any time you have to reboot you must wait 2-3 days w/ battery out for it to fully load up all the way.
it doesnt seem to matter weather a sim card or sd card is in or not.
the phone will work fine for days but if you need to reboot or forget to charge the battery your screwed for 2-3 days
any thoughts, suggestions, whatever are appreciated (we love the phone)

AT&T Fuze stuck in endless reboot loop

Well after searching and not finding anyone with the same problem I am having I decided to share. Last night after changing the battery in my Fuze the device got stuck in a power cycle loop. Startup splash screen for about 30 seconds and then reboot. I thought maybe SD card (throwback to the old days when SDHC could screw up the device), no luck. I read a thread where a dead battery was causing a similar behavior so I tested the battery and it was full (also tried two other batteries just in case), again no dice. Tried hard reset, and the device let me perform the hard reset fine but when it completed and I "Press Vol Up to boot" the cycle started again. At this point, my ideas were exhausted. I put the phone in BL mode and flashed stock ROM and SPL so I can return it. My only thought is that the power button on top of the device is stuck somehow and that is causing the phone to turn off and on constantly.
Anyway, AT&T customer (lack of) service can't get me refurb replacement for 2 days (and they are charging me the shipping on that). What a PITA!
Sorry to be so long winded. Anyone got any ideas on what might have happened so I can avoid it with the replacement? I was using Energy 2.0 v3/15/09 at the time of problem although I'm pretty sure the ROM had nothing to do with problem (it had been stable and fast for 3 weeks before the problem occurred).
Thanks

That came up when I did a raphael search for Boot Loop .... looks like a similar issue.

Randomly Turns off multiple times a day???

I have had my white Skyrocket just a day short of 1 week. Today is the first day it has just randomly shut off and three times so far. Has anyone else experienced this? I was talking on it for about an hour with 90% charge, ended the call, set it down, and picked it up 30 mins. later and it was off. When I woke up this morning I watched some Youtube, checked some emails, and 10 mins. later off again. I had to take out the battery and turn it on. I'm rooted with the ICS rom.
Try flashing the stock kernel and see if it persists.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Most likely it's the Kernel. Flash stock-ish kernel and that should fix the issue.
I will give that a try then.....thanks
Did it work?
I also have the same issue. Rooted with Sky ICS 2.3.6 and my phone just randomly turns off from time to time. I'll be use it and then it turns off and the power button doesn't work. Have to take it out of my Otter Box Defender case, take the battery cover off and pull the battery and put everything back together.
AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket
Sky ICS 2.3.6 ROM
CPU OC Kernel
YES! I'm on my 2nd SR, since release for same reason.
My first Skyrocket began repeatedly restarting, a few days after purchase. I thought I had the problem solved, after attributing the issue to an extra 16gb micro sd card, I took from my t-mobile Galaxy S 4G. But now my new Skyrocket, less than a week old, began the same **** 2 days ago - ALSO, after installing an extra 4gb card i had. WTF? The screen suddenly flashes white and the phone starts a continual process of restarting, until I'm able to get it to factory reset.
Well I flashed back to the "stockish" Kernal and i have not had a single random power off in over a week. Thanks.
I recommend using the CM7 + KA_G CM7 kernel. Its awesome. Way better then stock + I don't experience random sleep of death like I do with regular rom + DA_G overclock kernel.
Thanks for reply. It's been fine since my previous post, before which, it took 4 to 5 hours for me to get it to remain on, long enough to complete a factory reset.
Additionally, I'm wondering if downloading/installing "warez" for extended periods, most of which I'll just uninstal (tech addiction), could be reason for the shut downs??
I never had this problem with my first phone.
But my replacement phone has powered off a few times. It does have an SD card installed.
A couple times while unplugging/removing it from my car dock (3rd party charger). It just powers off. And I have to manually power it back on again.
And several times while plopping it lightly down on the table or pressing/holding the phone in a weird way.
Also once or twice while ending a phone call.
I'll prolly take it back soon. I'm outside of 30 days though, so I'm in no rush as I'll just get a refurbed phone I'm sure, and have to take my chances on getting one with a crap screen. While my current phone has a perfect screen (no vertical lines or blobs).
I've had the problem with custom ROM's, kernels and also on more than one reflash of stock ROM/Kernel.

Trade phones? Mine has lines, but it probably has the best hardware out of all skyrockets.
1.89GHz stable, no problems with any ROM's, no SoD problems, nothing.
?
JK lol, I love my phone. <3

One S shutting down :(

I just got my new One S a couple of days ago, and I'm one of the lucky few (or many maybe??) that don't have a problem with the chipping of the MAO...
I'm having a different problem though... Or actually i think it's two different problems.
One of them is the following: (and this is probably my own fault for not starting up the battery properly)
I got the phone friday in the mail, but I hadn't yet gotten my micro sim, and I had to leave for the weekend so i left the phone at home and brought my old one on the trip, but i forgot to shut down the One S, and the battery of course died over the weekend, even though I was supposed to fully charge it first to get the battery going..
But here is the problem, and this terrified me!!!
I couldn't get the phone started for like 20 minutes after I plugged it in to the charger.. The power button just made the three buttons in the bottom flash a couple of times, without starting up the phone... Eventually i got it going, but it really scared me.. Now when the phone runs out of battery it still needs around 5 minutes of charging before i can turn it on again... Am I the only one experiencing this?
The other problem, and this is the big one..
Two times the phone have shut down on me without any provocation... I pick it up, and hit the on-button, and the phone boots.. Meaning it was turned off.
And this is NOT because the battery died, as it has been at around 40% battery left.
Does anyone know why this happens? And if there is anything to do about it?
Also am I the only one?
Try a master reset; if it keeps happening, contact whoever you bought it from or HTC and exchange the handset.

XT1039 dead w/o doing anything

Hey guys! I have a bootloader unlocked XT1039 (moto g 4G), did have CM12.1 on there for a while, then reverted back to stock 4.4.4 GER when the updates started to be pushed via OTA few weeks ago (speculating that I was maybe one of the "selected users").
Phone has been the following for the last 4 weeks: Stock 4.4.4 EU GER (latest update), bootloader unlocked, no root.
Now over the course of the last 2-3 weeks my phone just shuts of from one second to the next (it is in sleep/lockscreen -> can unlock/use the phone -> lock it again -time isn't the factor here- -> phone is dead!). I cannot turn it on, get into fastboot, or do anything. The battery doesn't become warm when charger is plugged, phone isn't found by adb-tools or anything else when connected to my PC.
Then suddenly (sometimes after 1 day, sometimes after 2 minutes, sometimes after 5 hours) I can turn the phone on again as if nothing happened. This has happened about 6 times in the last 2-3 weeks. It drives my mad! Of course I have already tried to flash the system image multiple times, did factory resets, etc.
Any1 else with this really strange problem? Found only 2 users in a German android community via google. One of them got a new phone, the other just kinda "lived with it" and never posted again.
As it seems, this time the battery has dropped to 0% (time between last time I looked and blackout was about 6-7h; was over night). When I looked at the phone last time before it had around 94% and prior to that was fully charged.
hi man
i have the same problem on my 1039, but it began six months ago in stock 4.4
sometimes i have another problem as it is written here http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/moto-g-lte-service-t3133435
I tried different SIM cards from different operators work only gsm range but the problem persists
it can not showing week and can on the same day as the phone is switched on again

Struck in infinite Bootloop, Fastboot no help

my mi4i has been serving me for the last coming to 4th years, I do get once a blue moon auto restart or hang issues but all goes well after the reboot. Using Accubattery to monitor batt stats and it states health at 88%. Was using the camera to take some shorts when phone went into bootloop. Fastboot was ok so tried flashing stock rom, again goes into bootloop and duration of Mi logo appearing n disappearing narrow down to seconds. Read on forum some guys have success after changing the battery, how can it be?!? luckily for me have already bought a spare batt months back from china online stores. last try then to verify this “myth” to me. and indeed, once the new batt sits in, Mi logo disappears n android loads new rom! So end of story, if your beloved mi4i has reached its critical batt years n it decides to show you its logo over n over again, it’s likely A BATTERY FAILURE.
i am still looking for answer but not the batter.y.
After reading this, will look for one
Yeah, recently I had a similar issue, phone was rebooting randomly and than on the next day, even android was not loading and phone just rebooted although when connected to charger phone was booting successfully, problem was solved by replacing the battery(of an older mi4i)..one thing to complain is that Xiaomi stopped providing spare parts for Mi4i(even battery) so one has to replace it with local one which don't last forore than 8-10 months...Xiaomi wants it's user to change their phone every two years by not providing them with essential spare parts of old models .
