Hi guys, i want to compile a custom kernel from the wiko-slim sources. I need this because i have a "cousin" of the mmx a110 distributed here in italy as Brondi Gladiator. It's the same thing but the hardware seems to be the a littlebit different. The light and proximity sensors are different. And for this reason with mmx a110 custom rom light and proximity sensors are not working. I checked in the wiko-slim to see if the kernel driver were there, and they are. So i tried yesterday to compile the sources but the compiler asked me a lot of questions for the .config file. So is there already a .config file for the a110?
The light and proximity sensors are the Cm36283 chip.

Kernel and ROM goes together right? I can't have just one of them? does it explain how i get black screen with just a kernel
Well you need both a ROM and kernel. But they often can be changed. However on some devices certain kernels only work on certain roms

Hii guys.
I need to know that what difference will kernel 3 make on our device?
What is kernel?
Will it make all jb roms to work perfectly after kernel 3 is installed?
Please help.
Thanks in advance.

Well, I have no idea what kernel meant but I know that kernel control everything inside our phone, from brightness to phone call. Let just say that if our phone doesn't have kernel, probably its dead right now.
The difference of kernel 3.0.X, We don't know yet from the users side, but from the kernel it self, it will fix the most bug our phone has.
For the 3rd, same like above, we don't know yet but I'm sure it work on every CM9/10 ROMs. If you expect kernel 3.0 will work perfectly, nope it still has random crash and battery drain.

1. Kernel is the core of the OS, which mean it let the OS to control the Phone
2. Yes, due to JB rom base on android 4.1 and android 4.1 need kernel 3.x to work full function
So, we need the JB rom work good, we need kernel 3.x, i have a Galaxy W with kernel 3 CM9, it is hell alot faster.
edit, by the way, kernel 3 is not mean to fix the bugs. it is to let the new fuction functioning.

Kernel is actually the software which acts as an intermediate communicator b/w the phone's 'OS n Hardware'.. So possibly we might get from 3.0
full h/w acceleration
Speed imprvmnt
Finally since ics n later version's r based on kernel 3 there might be some performance improvements..
P.s: frm some linux form I came to know that, there is not much diff b/w kernel 2.6.* & 3.0.*... Linux jst change the no. system. From 2.6 they directly jumped to 3.0.. More info google

that's not going to happen because mediatek never released source code for their chipsets

I've been looking for source of kernels which runs on Japanese version of butterfly, HTL21. I found a compiled kernel for HTL21 built by Chinese user named qc26, but without its source.
http://pan.baidu.com/wap/share/home?uk=3375008777&third=0
kairi's kernels for x920d have 4.3 version, but looks like source code on github is 4.2 version only.
So I tried to build kernel based on HTC One GPE by myself. It boots, but after flashing this kernel, android.process.media kept crashing.
If you know where the source of kernel is, please tell me. Thanks in advance.
My kernel finally booted, but wifi and camera doesn't work. I tried everything I came up with, and still no success.
I give up, I just wait for kairi's test kernel.

I appreciate kairi's hard work

try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=4390
I'm using the second kernel. There are 4 kernels in the zip.

sorry, I don't know. I'm using the 4.0 stock rom and it runs well with that kernel.
battery dies a little faster than the CM 11 rom.
Instead of requesting things, you could get them done.
You have kernel compiling tutorials.
You (I assume), have a machine capable of running Linux.
You have an internet connection (evidently), so, you have access to kernel sources.
You have the commits for S2W here: https://github.com/cybojenix/android_kernel_htc_pico/commits/master
Then, why don't you make yourself a stock kernel with S2W, if you really want it?
Note: You here, refers to all those who want a stock kernel with S2W, but randomly turn up on this thread hoping someone else will do it. The fact is, no one will. You have to help yourselves.
Respects and regards,
<the person who doesn't care>.
P.S. Now that I've typed all this crap (which will (hopefully) guide you in the right direction), lemme give you some more info.
the himax8526a was never updated (i don't see a reason for it to be), except for once, by derefas to fix touch screen in sense 4.0, here: https://github.com/cybojenix/android_kernel_htc_pico/commit/45392ad98882a4c6f492dd17dc2579689d8053c4
so, s2w in stock kernel should be as easy as applying patches and building.
If you are too "lazy" to do that, the problem is with you. Not the community.
