Increase touch screen sensitivity? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to make the touch screen more sensitive? As it is right now, I pretty frequently get touch inputs when I am actually just scrolling on the screen. I don't take my finger off (since I'm scrolling) but it thinks that I did as if I touched it. All the threads I could find talk about changing the spen sensitivity which I don't have any issues with. It's only hand touch input that I want to increase.
For comparison, with any apple device, nexus 4, or nexus 7 never get false touch input when scrolling. They never think I touched the screen when I am in the middle of scrolling.

Id recommend this one.

The sgs touchscreen booster works great for my note 10.1 8013 and my other samsung devices.
And that one doesn't work for you too good you can try this one this one works pretty good also.

Enable "show touches" in settings. It will help you see if it's a sensitivity issue or if you experience phantom touches.

Resistive vs Capacitive screens WT???

this is not a rant thread but what is what is what is the hype about capacitive screens?
for one i enjoy using my nails to click stuffs on the phone and wont this be more precise?
i do not have the fortune to have a capacitive phone before but i really want to know what is so good about this?
So many pple cant be wrong right?????????
(p/s I WANT A HTC TOUCH HD 2 NOW )
First post in a long time!!!!
Well, maybe some of you have noted that i was not posting haha. its because im busy at school.. all those knowledge things etc.
Ok, when i saw that title i was already thinking in something that could make a revolutionary change O:!!
Actually, you can fit a resistive screen layer on a capacitive screen surface.
Just with the needed configuration, driver and alternation between screens (ie: using resistive for pen works as writing programs and capacitive for multi-touching things)
Imagine, using the fingertip to scroll smoothly and writing with a pen at the same time ;D! (Just an idea... no one would do that, but anyone could do ;D)
Just with the right libaries, drivers, software and OS modifications.
cuff cuff M$ could try this on its phone or for the new wm7 cuff cuff...
Just an idea ;D!
See ya !!
The sensitivity!!! Can someone confirm if the HTC HD2 has the same sensitivity to the iphone? I know it will be much better than resistive...

leo... while your waiting on the LEO, just go to an at&t store and play with one on an iphonie
capacitive means that you can put a screen protector on it and it will be pretty much just as sensitive =]
but perhaps the best part is that you can just glide your finger over the surface and it will respond...resistive screens are much less sensitive.
I have read somewhere that HTC was working on a capacitive stylus though..sothat would be the best of both worlds =]
am i right to assume,
resistive = precise but not sensitive
capacitive = not precise but sensitive

Resistive screens work by detecting pressure, so you have to press on them, sometimes quite hard. Capacitive screens can detect the lightest of touches. So capacitive screens tend to be more responsive. If you're trying to type on an on-screen keyboard at speed then a capacitive screen is usually far better - you can actually type rapidly rather than having to methodically press. each. key. one. at. a. time.
Another important difference is that, for practical purposes, resistive screens cannot support multi-touch - they can only detect being pressed in one place at once. That means they can't do things like iPhone-style pinch-zooming which requires the phone to track you pressing in two different places at the same time. (There are multi-touch resistive displays but they're too expensive or difficult to use on a device like a phone).
The upside of resistive screens is that you can press them with almost anything. A conventional stylus won't work on a capacitive screen, neither will your fingernail - only skin. So you can't stab the screen with a convenient pen-top, and it won't work if you're wearing gloves. There has been some work done on creating special capacitive styluses - I'm not sure how well they work in practice and they're not yet widely available.

A capacitive one works like the touchpad of a laptop. Sometimes i would prefer a capacitive screen on my Touch HD but sometimes even not. Because you can get much easylier error inputs with a capacitive screen. It just needs that your finger touchs slidly the screen and a input is made. But with a resistive screen you really have to press on it.
A screen with both tecs would be nice, have read something about this, but donĀ“t remember who is inventing this.
Don't know if it's because it's capacitive, but the iPhone screen always seems more readable in direct sunlight compared to my Touch Pro (or Touch 3G, or Touch).
For me personally, I think the problems of cold hands or a stylus not being able to work the screen outweigh the benefits. I also can't get my head around pinch to zoom - I love watching iPhone users trying to demonstrate the feature with one hand, sort of juggling it around trying not to drop it. I prefer double tapping on the bit you want to zoom in on. I can't wait to play with a Leo and see which works best in a 'Windows Phone' environment.

Well obviously pinch-zoom is not designed to work one-handed, but then neither is using a stylus. One advantage of pinch-zoom is that it lets you pick which part of the screen you want to zoom in on and exactly how much you want to zoom in by. Using a zoom-bar doesn't give you any control over where it zooms - it'll always pick (say) the top left hand corner of the screen as a reference point; double-tapping lets you pick where to zoom, but not by how much. Other solutions require additional gestures or presses. Pinch-zooming is also extremely intuitive - non-technical people get the hang of it instantly. Other types of multi-touch gesture are often very intuitive too; for example, running Google Earth on the iPhone, if you want to rotate the map you simply take hold of it and twist.
I think it's interesting how many people were claiming that resistive is better than capacitive whenever they were trying to bash the iphone, yet now those same people can't wait to get their hands on the Leo's capacitive screen.
Personally, I'd rather have resistive. The difference in sensitivity isn't great (so many HD reviews said how close it was to the sensitivity of the iphone). Multitouch is overrated. You can easily zoom in and out with a circle motion on a resistive screen. For me, neither of those capacitive advantages comes close to the benefit of being able to select with a stylus far more accurately than you ever can with a finger. No need to pinch-zoom in to select that link on a web page, or to select a cell in a spreadsheet. That's what's important to me.
capacitive is not good for drawing precise pics right?
HP tablet laptops have some hybrid of resistive and capacitive screens. They have a switch on the side that flicks between them and so they support multi-touch AND stylus
HP Laptop
My mates got one and its dead impressive. Just a shame the screens only 12" If they had them on 17" laptops like the one im using i'd be well up for it!
Capacitive and pinch zoom are both well overrated!
I can touch the screen of my X1 and it responds - no pressure. And I can zoom in by double tapping. Can't see what all the fuss is about to be honest. Probably something started by iPhone fanboys!

I totally agree. I don't want to lose the accuracy of a stylus. Why should I have to zoom in to click a small link with a fat finger, when I can click it unzoomed with a stylus? Same with a cell on a spreadsheet.
Multitouch is just a gimmick that really doesn't add anything useful. Either double tap or use the circle gesture to zoom/unzoom.
RIM applied for a patent for a dual capacitive/resistive screen about a month or two.. so someone is working on it.

thats my laptop, did not know it had a hybrid screen. there no switch on the side, the pen works and the multi touch works (i think, if i press in 2 places it the marker goes to the middle) without press any switch.
People who say there x1, diamond 2s and so one are as sensitive as an iPhone, have not tried seeing how gently you can touch it.
I do like capacitives screens, but I will feel lost without a stylus.
Has anyone else noticed on the iPhone, it doesnt respond to a touch with a nail, but if you touch with you finger and then without taking your finger off put it so only your nail is on the screen it still responds!?
Hopefully HTC will soon release the capacitive stylus that isnt a joke like the pogostick one.
Shasarak does make a very good point though regarding the extra operation being involved after double tapping in a particular area - I guess I'm taking the 'scroll wheel' on my Touch Pro for granted and using it to do the second operation without even thinking about it ; )
As an aside, boy would I like to see physical scroll wheels with navipads underneath make a return, not to mention dedicated camera buttons!

[Q] Input Sensitivity Adjustment?

Is there any way to raise the touch input sensitivity? My A700 seems to miss quick taps, requiring at least half a second worth of tap to reliably register the input. Can this be changed?
Yes. Look in settings.

Hi there. The A510 has a bug that causes the touchscreen to not initialize correctly during boot. This can be temporarily solved by changing the setting for the screen sensitivity in the settings menu. This seems to reinitializes the screen which then works ok until the next reboot. Perhaps the same bug is also present for the A700?
You could give it a try.

This issue was one of the reasons why I brought the a510 back for a refund.
Easy to fix, and adjusting the input made things a little better permanently, but it was not as responsive as it should be without fiddling at each bootup.
Wife hated having to do it too, so back it went.
The a700 is/was on my short list, so if this is a common problem on the a700 now too then my choice of HD Android tablet got 'infinitely' easier...
I'm not having any issues with touch on my A700.

I too had a significant touch screen sensitivity issue with the A510 and returned it for that reason. It was greatly exacerbated by the Skinomi screen protector I used, and improved when I removed that. However even with the screen protector off, the A510's screen was virtually unresponsive when lying flat on a desk or propped up in a stand, both of which modes I use not infrequently. The A510 seemed to need my fingers on the back to function properly; some (on XDA and other forums) refer to this as a "grounding" problem.
I purchased the A700 hoping that, with a different screen, this problem might be resolved. The good news for me is that my A700 has shown NO issues at all with the touch screen. I have a Roo Case matte screen protector on, (which really helps with glare and fingerprints) and the screen has responded to my every touch, whether in my hands, on a desk or on a stand.
Even though I have lost some battery life and responsiveness compared to the A510 due to the higher resolution, I am more than pleased with the A700 because of the lack (for me) of touch screen issues.
I should note that the Mobile Tech Review review of the A700 (the best review resource for tablets IMHO) finds the opposite of my experience; they found their A700 to be somewhat LESS responsive than their A510. Go figure.
Which firmware are you using? I've updated my firmware to the 1.028.00 version found in the development forum and I must say that the input sensitivity is improved with that version .... a bit. (Was running a 1.026.00 version). So it definitely seems to depend on the firmware version one is running.

damn, i have this issue on the galaxy tab s 10.5 i am returning to get the shield tablet, sad to hear its also an issue here. what is nuts is you can make the sensitivity even HIGHER (but not lower derp) on the tab s 10.5. it does the same thing, just hover above it and it registers a touch.
I can't believe there isn't more posted on this topic. My screen can register a touch almost a half inch off the screen. Is there any way to fix this?

Screen Sensitivity - Less Than S6?

Compared to the S6, the screen seems to be less sensitive. While playing games that require high accuracy, or typing, scrolling etc., it feels like I have to push slightly harder or redo a trace that wasn't registering my finger/thumb movement. Same apps, same keyboard, same games installed as my S6, but the sensitivity feels different.
Has anyone else noticed a difference in screen sensitivity?

I read somewhere that the previous samsung devices even without the s-pen has the sensitivity to recognise pen tips/pencils allowing the user to draw. Anyone tested this on the s7e?
I have the regular S7 and I agree, the screen is less sensitive. I can tell because I also have the S6 for comparison right now. The biggest problem is that with a screen protector, or while wearing gloves, the top/bottom and side edges become much less sensitive to touch and don't register them. Try accessing the TSP grid on your phone dialer by typing in "*#7353#" and use a glove with it on the edges. I also tried gloves with three different S7/S7 edge models at Best Buy and they all lack sensitivity. It definitely needs a software change. The screen touches don't register. Please increase the sensitivity SAMSUNG!
If anything it's much more sensitive
the issue is that the screen seems to detect quick swipes as touches, and itll open an app or something if you're swiping around/over it but you do a short burst swipe. if you do a normal long swipe, itll be fine. seems like the digitizer is setup weird on these. odd calibration maybe?
Jayochs, i know what you mean. Its especially apparent when scrolling wjth thumb. It does this flick when thumb leaves the screen.. annoying.. samsung has never been good with screen touch calibration.
mine's the other way around - way too sensitive to the touch and also the capacitive keys get triggered way too easily.. Whenever I'm scrolling through pages, the back key always accidentally gets triggered for no apparent reason.
when using glass screen protectors the sensitivity is severely reduced u kinda need to push harder on the screen to actually make it register.

Screen sensitivity problem. Curved screen

I'm using "note 10 pro".
Nice device.
However, there is a "sensitivity problem" on the curved screen edges.
There are problems with the letters on the left and right sides of the keyboard.
Need to touch hard. Need to apply pressure.
There may be a software error.
Or they willingly reduced sensitivity.
How do I solve?
The edge of my screen where it starts to curve is not sensitive enough. The "1" and "0" and "a" and "p" keyboard keys are very difficult to press. I end up having to turn the phone side-ways so the screen flips making the keyboard position entirely on the flat part and not hitting the curved edge. This is very very frustrating to the point where I'm changing all passwords to not use any of those keys. Doesn't help much but a little. The phone got such great reviews but I find it very difficult to use because of the lack of sensitivity on the edges.
I don't have this issues with my 10pro. Maybe it's a broken device.

Examine more carefully.
Touch the keyboard keys 10 times again in a row.
Tap hard. then soft tap.
You will notice.
Have absolutely no touch issue on my device. Zero. And I am very sensitive about things like that. I even use a UV Glue glass for it that I bought off ebay. (was bit messy to apply but I was prepared after using Whitestone glasses elsewhere.)
Aaanyhow. My device has superb sensitivity even with glass. IMO you have a faulty device.
I have also tried on different devices. they deliberately reduced the touch sensitivity on the rounded edges.
Please see in detail.
understand what I want to say.
I don't have a problem either.
I've tried it on 4 different devices.
sample:
Samsung has increased the sensitivity on the curved screen.
But it has developed a setting program for users.
xioami decreased sensitivity.

Really don't know mate. Never had any touch issues out of the box with the stock firmware.
Nor had any touch issues on my OnePlus 7 Pro. Nor on my GF's Note 9. Nor on her Note 10 Plus. Nor on my mother's S7 Edge.

Ps.: I get it that YOU have a problem. All I am trying to say is ... the phone itself works perfectly. Without any touch issues. It's either you, or your device.

Hi, I don't know about the Mi Note 10 yet, but I definitely had a similar issue with the Galaxy S7 back in the day. It used to drive me crazy, because it happened while holding it with one hand in the car, and typing the number "1" for example was often hit or miss (I am right handed, normal hands). It's part of why I don't like curved screens and why I never bought another Samsung phone (I know Samsung mostly fixed the issue through updates).
I just ordered the Mi Note 10 despite of the curved screen, because of the camera. I didn't want to buy a phone from Hauwei and didn't want to wait for Samsung's S20, and the Mi Note 10 is at a killer price
Anyway, I hope I don't run into the same curve issue (worried).

Same. Oh well, maybe SOME phones don't work that well?
Honestly I'd prefer NO curve, but I can't find an issue with it.
I hate MIUI way more that I can't make it allow my bloody notifications in DND. It's like the worst nightmare ever.
I have mi & galaxy s9+, both phone have same issue.
Samsung have a official app to fix this issue, but Mi not.
At first I try use 3rd App the disable edge touch,, but not useful like Samsung.
Now I just use a new case. The case just let my plam not possible touch on curve edge.
I recorded a sample video. We can add some programs with Turbo Game setting. We increase sensitivity. But it is not enough. We cannot select every program. Even if it is selected, it is not enough. The problem continues on the edges.
It seems to prove that this problem is a software problem.

does not want the edges to be very sensitive xiaomi. And they took a stupid measure with the software.
xda developers can solve this problem.
Then xioami takes precautions.
The problems at the lower corners are caused by the gesture control. Turn off the gesture control and use the conventional buttons, then the problem is solved.
This is also the reason why some have the problem and some don't. Not everyone uses the gesture control.
i have also noticed a reduced sensitivity with the gesture control. As soon as you switch to the buttons everything is fine with the touch screen test.
I use the buttons.

I can reproduce the interrupted line test.
In the test i can place white dots on every part of the edge, but it gets only interrupted when drawing a line.
But it doesn't bother me when keyboard typing.
Keyboard works well even in the edges.
Do you use swipe typing, i'm not?
I'm using Fullscreen Gestures and never noticed any problems with edge sensitivity.
My device is Global Firmware (11.0.7), not Global EEA.
