Plan ends soon, and I've narrowed it down to some phones. This is one of them. But first, some questions.
1. Will I be able to root and unlock it straight out of the box, with or without OTA?
2. How easy is it to root and unlock?
If I think of any more, I'll add them. Thanks!

1. Yes, with or without ota.
2. Pretty easy, there's a 1 click tool available. Unlocking the bootloader should work with that tool but occasionally doesn't, but that can be remedied with ez unlock.

Sweet, thanks! Hopefully it doesn't sell out on Verizon's site. It's only $50 and I got another 9 days(the 15th) until it expires.
If you have a costco membership it's only $30 and you pay a lot less taxes on it

Lucky man. How is it so far? I plan on getting Slimbean because I'm running it on my X-Play and my Nexus 7. I love it. What kernel should I try out?
Just to brag, I got my at Sam's club on black Friday for $.99.

Wait 6 months from when you bought the phone, call att and ask to talk to supervisors a few times, say you're going out of the country and hey should give you one assuming you've been with them for a while and are in good standard payment wise

"My bad" I read it to fast, with all the excitment about the bootloader being unlocked i assumed thats what the OP ment.
So I'm not very savvy on the programming side of things but if I hold off is it possible for a 1 click root / boot unlock combo program

section 1 of my guide is the closest your going to get for a 1 click program...there is no programming needed. Download 3 files, open causual, plug in device, make sure it says device connected, choose debugFSroot, do it! If thats too hard then modding your device may not be in your best interest.
Not hard at all in just asking I've been modding for roughly 3 years so little snide comments like that really aren't necessary thanks

Hi,
I saw that I could root my Verizon HTC One (M8) and wanted some help on what to do after I root it. What I want is to install the latest stock Kit Kat on it (basically like making it a Play Edition phone). I found a rooting guide using WeakSauce. Can someone point me in the right direction on what I should do after getting root? Is there like a single file download of Kit Kat I can get to install? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(I have a Windows PC so if I need to build KitKat from source, I won't be able to do that).
You can't. We're months away from being able to do that all we have is root

Yes months. There is a long way from s-off to a stable copy of stock android for the Verizon HTC one.

Ummm proof of s off was posted yesterday. I doubt it will be months. Weeks if not days. With GPE versions existing it will not take long for other roms such as CM to show up.

You missed a key point. Making a pure GSM ROM work with Verizon will take some time. While it likely won't take long to get GPE running on a VZW M8, it will probably take some time to get the radio working properly.
For those of you that missed it

The only variant that can currently unlock their bootloader is tmobile. There are threads on this topic and rooting it.
Otherwise there is a bounty for Att and verizon.
I love Verizon but i really hate that they lock their phones down so tight. Let us have our fun. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before something pops up.
Would this root work for F600K?

I like this phone but I'm not sure if I wanna keep it without root. It's looking like the note 4 all over again.

Yeah I bought the att version of the note 4 a year ago.. The funny thing is that I bought it outright.. Hopefully they find a way to root the att version of the v10
