I hope someone can help with my issue which has made my HTC Sensation XE fairly un-usable.
About a month ago, I started to randomly get similar error messages when using different functions of my phone.
For example, when trying to access my text messages, I would get the error "Messages stopped unexpectedly. Would you like to tell HTC" when trying to access the Messages function. As a result, I installed GO SMS Pro to workaround this issue.
I would get a similar message when trying to access the People function to browse my contacts or when trying to access my recently received calls list.
Thinking that a factory reset would solve this issue, I did this earlier today but, un-fortunately, this has not solved the issue and, in fact, it appears to be worse as I am getting this message more frequently when trying to use various functions.
For example, from the brief tests I have done, it is affecting:
WiFi - I am un-able to select my home WiFi network
People - I am un-able to browse my contacts
Calendar - I am un-able to view my Calendar
Weather - I am un-able to amend Weather settings
Due to this issue, the phone only has basic us-able functionality which, as you can appreciate, is a complete pain.
Can anyone advise/suggest how to resolve?
I've tried to find a solution on the internet without much luck.
For information, it is a stock HTC Sensation XE purchased a year ago.

Unfortunately, reboot makes no difference.
How do I clear an app's cache?
i.e. where is it located?

give it a try
i don't see any other options
except of factory reset from settings
do it first in one app and check if it worked
don't do it with all them at once

Tried it with Calendar but made no difference - still getting the same error message.
Very strange behaviour.
Factory reset doesn't solve the problem either - have tried it twice.

I am new to xda. I haven't ran into a problem yet that i couldnt find a solution to....UNTIL NOW!!!
I have an incredible 2. It is rooted, and DID have a cm7 OS. Today, differentPps on my pho.e kept opening and then being foreclosed. Naturally, I rebooted my phone to see if that would fix the foreclosing problem. However, THE REBOOT MADE PROBLEMS WORSE. Now, my phone shows "no service." It shows "unknown baseband," "unknown phone number" and won't receive/send texts/calls. I can only use WiFi to use the internet. I tried factory reset, (through cm7 and the phone itself) I also tried downloading a new radio and cm9. Help NEEDED ASAP!!!! WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?!!

Yes, I've tried a couple times.
Try
Try hard resetting, which means clearing all data, and wiping cache (if it is that bad)
or
Try doing some of the previous steps again....
Hope It helps
I have same type of problem but after trying these instructions, I found the solution of the problem. Simply try them step by step and you will get results.

Tried hard resetting, wiping dalvik cache and cache partition. Still nothing.
However, slight change- after setting it back to stock, switched it over to cm7.2. Now, I have the roaming indicator flashing, but still cannot make calls or send texts. Before, while trying a new Tom, it would bring me to the same point, ^ but when I would select regular reboot, it would put me back with "no service."
It may happens.
Restart your phone and try then.

What instructions are you referring to? And I've tried, the most simple and generally harmless to extreme wiping and resetting everything I had. Let's say I'm just fit to be tied. This is a nightmare!!!

It happened to my sim card..no idea why..I was flashing different rooms and modems but finally swapped sim just to test ( I didn't really think that sim would be the culprit) but it worked on different..no idea as to why sim stopped working.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
I keep getting unreadable emergency alerts with some non-text or binary characters with sim-card absent.
Earlier I activated 'Developer Mode' and might have changed some default settings . Now I did Data Factory Reset from the phone Settings menu, but it did not resolve the problem. How can I do complete factory reset or hard reset to bring the phone to pre-sale condition?
Have you solved it, i'm having same issue.
alerts just keep on coming and they unreadable.

No, I have not
too bad. i found alert settings in networking setup section, but even when i uncheck them all i still get those stupid alerts.
Here is what i found on russian forum.
If you phone is rooted, you can install this zip using CWM and it will remove the CellBroadcastReceiver.apk, which is responsible for alerts.
I've done it and it all good.

But recovery required unlocked bootloader...
Hello, I'm getting a message "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped" when I miss a phone call and the same when I swipe the missed called notification.
But it's fine if I answer calls and make calls, it only happens when I get a missed call...
Any ideas what's wrong?

Dont know what is wrong but there is three solution to solve this
#1:- By clearing the data
Surfing internet we could find that many people recommend to do a data clear to resolve this issue. In your android smartphone, it is very easy to clear data. For clearing data,
Go to Settings
Application Manager
Choose All Application
Below Contacts Storage choose “Clear all data”.
Now Restart your device
The above steps have slight changes from mobile to mobile. Try to find out the similar steps in your mobile yourself.
#2:- Resetting your device
You can also try a factory reset of your mobile phone to resolve this. Do factory reset only if the first method didn’t worked for you. For performing a factory reset,
Go to Settings
Backup & reset
factory Reset
Doing a factory reset will delete all of your data and applications. So be careful to do a backup if you are proceeding with this step.
#3: Changing the OS
This is recommended to those are facing Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped message after updating their device or changing the static os to a custom version.

Thanks...went through all those options already + more , nothing could fix it, even the few recovery backups that I had...so a reset was the only solution...
So I decided to start from scratch and go down the long way, flashed .93 rom then root and working my way back up from there manually as I can't restore any backups otherwise the error reappears...
This kinda sucks but that's the only way right now...unless somebody got a better insight of the situation, I still would like to know how to fix it without a reset
At least I got a clean backup now without the error
[SOLVED]
EDIT:
OK found the cause of the problem, at least in this case...I did freeze Xperia Home with Titanium Backup at some point since I used a different launcher ( something I didn't do at the beginning when I switched launcher)...this was the root of my problem getting com.android.phone has stopped when getting a missed call, so a simple defrosting of the app worked

Thank you, it's working.. Having my rom heavily modified, and the cause just simple as defrosting..
The problem appeared after upgrade to nougat. I tried factory reset, it was ok for the first hours and now, the problem returned.
Anyone facing the same problems?
Phone not rooted, running on official rom and problems occurs even in safe mode....

Hi
How did you upgrade?
OTA , flashing??
If OTA did you upgrade al your apps , maybe one of them is making trouble
If flashing , how? and also did you upgrade your apps
Hey, thanks for the answer. It was OTA. I suppose all apps are up to date since I restored to factory settings and re-installed them.
The problem is still there even in safe mode...

Hi
yeah is odd , i would think it has to be app related .....
When you get the error ..after you introduce the password? what about if you ask your phone to forget your old connection , it allows you to connect to the new one then?
I would try to wipe dalvik and cache from recovery and /or reflash stock rom again..maybe something went wrong at least the modem

I tried to wipe the cache with no success. I am on a trip right now, and I cannot wipe the dalvik for the moment.

Hi all,
I have a sprint HTC U11. I have TWRP installed and the phone rooted via SuperSU. I installed the Wifi Tether Router app and got it to work. However, the app did something to mess up my WIFI and I am no longer able to turn WIFI on at all anymore. It just says "Error" in the WIFI section when I open the phone settings.
Can someone please tell me how to restore all of the factory WIFI settings to get rid of this problem?
Thanks.
You can maybe try Settings -> Backup & Reset -> Network Settings Reset to see if it will help..

I have tried this with no luck. I think I probably will have to flash something via fastboot, but I'm not sure what to flash.

I suppose you have also tried this from their support page (if I googled correct app):
Q: After using the app I can not use WiFi, I can not connect to WiFi networks
uncheck the "Scan Always Aviable" on WiFi Advanced Settings on your phone and reboot your phone

I have relocked my bootloader as I am selling this one as Solar Red is on it's way so I cannot test it.
I might be completely wrong, but there is that or similar setting now in Location -> three dots menu in top right corner -> search -> enable wifi scan or something..
I have no other ideas except obvious ones or googled ones, if you uninstalled app, rebooted and still doesn't work you can maybe contact developer or someone here uses that app and can help you..

I should have also noted that doing a factory reset resolves the issue. I would like to avoid that if possible though.

No, I am not familiar with that process.
I believe that is flashing without wiping, on top of the existing rom install. I'm not sure that this will help; but that is what I've seen discussed as dirty flash....
So this is a conceptual only answer.
I am having the exact same issue. Anyone come up with a fix?
