modem - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Just wanted some input im running mb1 baseband on beans 18 build I was going to flash mf1firmware just remember reading complaints on the f1 baseband just wanted to make sure theres no downside to flashing f1 right now I have great signal , and can I flash back if I do flash the f1 firmware

Sir. You have 31 posts. Why not just post in the dedicated thread in the development section to get an answer more easily for your question (which is in the wrong section btw) instead of making a whole new thread in general? I would understand if you had less than 10 posts but you don't. And I'm pretty sure in that thread there is multiple discussions about modems and such. You've been a member for almost a year and 2 months. You should know better. But to answer your question, there have been different reports about MF1. Some good some bad. If you already have good signal don't change it IMO. But if you want to test it out you can always flash back if your signal worsens.

[Q] Most Stable Custom ICS Rom??????

What is the most stable custom rom that is ics 4.0. Im using ressurection 9.3 and everything works after screwing around with bits and pieces but everything works. Anybody know any others??
The answer to this question varies greatly for each device. The availability of display drivers, number of devs working, saturation of phone in the marking (ie. demand for a ROM) all play huge factors, not to mention kernels.
This would be a better question in your device's development forumn (or at least the device's general forumn)

Definitely the device's Q&A (if it has one), NOT development. Questions don't belong in the dev forums, and we don't want to start him off with bad habits, do we?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions &

We were all noobs once
General forums are for discussion, Q&A forums are for questions and development forums are for people to release software.
This is a good video for new members as it covers a lot of things that long-standing members wish everyone knew.

You have not mentione your Device -make /model, i have tested most of the ICS version available on internte for my SGS i9000 and found that "MyICS Ultimate" is the most stable and fast ROM with best battery backup. Recommended - if you have SGS i9000.
Thanks

[Q] Synergy Rom Update for I535

I am using build SynergyROM (r484) for the Verizon i535, Baseband I535VRBMB, Android Version 4.1.2 with the Ziggy Kernel released in April of 2013.
Are there any new updates for this or will there be? :fingers-crossed:

I see that this is your first post so, congratulations! However, these types of questions are best suited to be in the development thread itself. Now, in order to post there, you need to have met certain requirements (I forget if it is post count or thank-count). Nonetheless, there are many places to help you meet those requirements.
Back on to your question, I am not sure myself (as I am stayin' stock for now). Normally, out of respect for the developers who willingly spend their time and effort to give to the community, members vow to never ask when something will be released or updated.
Synergy is alive and kicking. No new updates as nothing 'new' has come out that synergy doesn't already have.
Remember, you can search the synergy development thread using your computer browser 'search this thread' for synergy related questions.

Possible dumb question, help please

I have a Galaxsy S III that WILL NOT update past 4.0.4, every time I try, it says service is unavailable. Verizon says I need a new phone and Samsung wants me to mail it in to them to fix for 2 weeks. Instead of doing either option...as there are some small cracks in the screen, Verizon wont replace and I have no spare phone to lose mine for 2 weeks, I've decided to root it.
Now, I've looked all over this site and I'm both confused and overwhelmed. All the roots I see now are for devices already in JB or 4.1. So, since I'm so far behind, how do I get mine to current 4.1? I thought this

Thread may be it, but again, very overwhelming. Is this the correct spot? Any input I would greedily take and thanks for the assist. Looking forward to contributing.
Morgan.
Well, I will say are you computer challenged? If not you should't have a problem dealing with odin and flashing to the latest and unlocking the bootloader.

go to section 1 and you should be good to go.

Use Kies! or download the rom and use ODIN to update

[Completed] Where do we post, in the main XDA Assist forum, or its subforum?

I am confused as to where requests for assistance should be posted. Do I see a forum -- and a subforum?
We have XDA Assist, which is unlocked to new posts, and then we have Post New Thread, also unlocked and accepting new posts.
I read the documentation for the main forum, and thought I'd post my assistance request there. I only saw there was another area after I posted in the first area.
Or does it make no difference? Sorry, but if this information is already available, somewhere, please give me a link. Couldn't find it!
It depends on your problem. The nature of XDA Assist is to help users in looking for the right place for their issue. For Ex. for your phone, we do not have a Sub Forum Defined. So you'd go to
> Android Development and Hacking
forum. Within it, you can either post in Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting if you have a problem you can't solve. Other wise if its a general discussion on the phone, you can post in Android General
Does that make sense ?
Question that started this thread is answered, may be closed.

Well ... still confused.
Maybe the threads XDA Assist and Post New Thread, are in fact one and the same?
They seemed to be separate, but perhaps I should take note of the first few posts in each, and see if they're the same?
Anyway, I posted in the XDA Assist thread, and it seems to be working -- I see my other post has one reply.
No one else seems confused, so I guess it's just me. :silly:
Different question from different thread answered, both threads may be closed.
So, I'll go to --
> Android Development and Hacking
and then, since it's not a problem needing troubleshooting but just something general on how Android works (I doubt it's phone specific) I think I'll put it into 'Android General'.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! And the instructions for this forum say the moderator will close the thread when the advice has been given, so please feel free to do so, now.

New to Rooting

Hi guys
i am new to rooting devices i have jailbroke my ipad etc but i have always had android mobiles in particular nexus 4/5/6
i am looking to root my device the sole reason being so i can use Hound on my phone. can someone point me in the right direction on where to start with this currently running *nexus 6 with latest firm update*
thanks for the help in advance
Hi,
Before asking this basic question on a very popular development friendly device, I would suggest you visit the N6 section, here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6
The General section has a Roll up Index thread which likely has the help you need, and there are other great guides and tutorials in the General and Q&A sections.
If you get stuck after doing your homework....you can ask for help in the Nexus 6 Q&A section. This hobby takes a LOT o reading. You will find it tough to get help if you don't read read read first. Especially with a Nexus device, where there is lots of info here for those. Also, the more you know, the less likely you will run into troubles with your device.
Good luck!! And I will close this thread.
